Had to update the review. Definitely one of the best places in Newburgh if not the top of the heap. Never had bad meal here yet. He has a standard menu that is always set to about 5 or 6 options on the Hot tray. There is a small menu that's off items that you have to ask him such as boiled plantains and other down-home Jamaican goods. His rum cake is definitely some of the best I've had. Give it a shot if you have a chance. He has started to introduce jumble sauce which you can add to your food, you just have to ask if the homemade stuff is available. It's usually right behind the counter on the shelves in Plainview. If you like hot Jamaican patties on the spicy side you have to get here before 4 o'clock if not they're all gone. The drinks aren't too bad either he offers sea moss, Irish moss and a bunch of fruit juices. Horrible food ! Had a cocker roach in my chicken and seen mice in restaurant ! Totally grossed me out ! Horrible customer service! Beautiful restaurant I came here back in 2019 my first time and the food was great then. I don't get in the neighborhood much, but if I knew I got here I would not be disappointed which again I was not. They even let me sample a different item because I always get their jerk chicken which I got again and was very delighted and I got the rice and peas. They gave me plenty of cabbage and well done plantains. The guys were very nice and patient then I enjoyed the curry gravy over my rice and peas. Definitely a meal for two. Great take out spot if you are in the mood for Jamaican home style slow cooked fall off the bone stew food. Not too spicy Jerk chicken (actually quite mild) and the portions are huge when you order the medium size. We enjoyed the oxtails. Not exactly a date night sit down place but you do get the Jamaican feel from the love they put in the stew and the friendly service. A worthy takeout stop. came in for a lunch to go, people here were friendly, so I ordered a medium brown stew chicken. the server was though to put all food neatly and organized in a to go container and made sure without me asking to pour sauce over my rice, I was surprised how dedicated they are with their food. so I was thanked for the order and left. the chicken was flavorful and not too many bones to pick though. rice and beans was fresh and even better with sauce on top. good food and service read more

I ordered a small curry goat with rice and peas with some plantain. No vegetables and I also got a normal size bottle of Paul in the spring. The order total came up to $15.35, the menu list the curry goat at $11.00 with the tax rate at 8.125 that would make my bottle of water $3.20. The food is a little over price. Massive servings. A great place to be hungry in. Service isn't super timely. Certainly not long but not grab and go fast. The rice, beans, plantains and cabbage are all really good! The cabbage has carrots. I had the jerk chicken and oxtails. I believe they may have given me stew chicken instead of jerk. The jerk chicken didn't have that Smokey color. Okay, At first I was upset that he was out of Akee& Salt fish and he don't sell Jerk Pork! I love Jerk Pork! My husband ordered an Oxtail dinner & I a Jerk chicken dinner and boy is he HEAVY handed!! I was carrying the bag with both dinners and I said honey pls take this bag... it's heavy! Now let me just say the food was delicious!! Absolutely love this place! My boyfriend and I recently moved to Newburgh and our first few days of getting settled in aka no pots and pans-we were in search of somewhere good to eat. Boy did we stumble upon a "diamond in the rough"! The food was delicious!! The portion sizes on point and they are very friendly, attentive and courteous. BEWARE: COUNT YOUR CHANGE AND INSIST ON RECEIPTS! The old CROOK in the kitchen tried to cheat my kids out of their change! He thought the children were alone but I was waiting in the car double parked and had to March in to demand their change ... I really don't know what island this restaurant is representing but certainly not Jamaica. The person who cooks for this restaurant has very little concept of what the Jamaican cuisine should be. Moreover, one piece of chicken thigh for $6 is rather expensive! If the price is worth the taste....nooooo problem. I would gladly forfeit that cash.
