If you are craving authentic great Jamaican food, you won't regret coming here. The restaurant is spotless, the owner is very nice, and her food is out of this world. I will definitely be back as I'm dying to try her Mac and Cheese again (it was sold out). 5 Star

Empire stands out among all the Jamaican restaurants in the area for its fresh, home cooked meals. We stopped by for some beef patties and ended up getting a half dozen plus two spinach patties when we found out that they're homemade and not frozen. They are outstanding! Michelle was open on New Year's Eve, and we might come back for dinner because everything was so good! UPDATE: We returned on New Year's Day because we were craving more Jamaican food!! We ordered the jerk chicken, oxtail, and vegan curry chickpeas. The flavors were mouthwatering and we couldn't believe how tasty the curry chickpeas dish was. Please do yourself a favor and stop by. You absolutely won't regret it!

If anything, the steam tray might have made it more tender and flavorful, and it wasn't at all worse for wear! All the employees that I've seen have all been helpful and respectful. A warm friendly atmosphere. Arroz con gandules and pernil is my go to every single time. I ordered their Sopa de Fideo when I was sick a couple weeks ago and it hit the spot! I tried the flan and tres leche once and it wasn't good and tasted "off". I can tell that the Arroz con gandules was cooked with a really good sofrito and the pernil is moist and flavorful every single time. I eat twice from a small plate. I believe it was like $12. I thought to make it easier, we would just point to what looked good and he could charge us whatever but after a minute or two, he went to the back kitchen and an older gentleman came out who did speak English. He told us that we had a choice of three rice and a meat selection. So I went with oxtail and he went steak. We both got the yellow rice. You also get a choice of beans on top of the rice. I opted for no beans. I thought the portion size was good (lots of rice). Oxtail was fine but not fall-off-the-bone good. I would have liked more sauce. The steak was also fine and had a distinctive spice which we could not figure out. We ate outside on the picnic table. There is not much seating inside. After finishing our meal, I went to use the restroom. The toilet was not nailed down so when you sit, there is a loud sound as it hits the floor. There was also no toilet paper or paper towels. I guess I could have asked but then I would have to encounter the language issue again. Luckily I had extra napkins in my purse!
