Here's the Scoop! Love this restaurant! Whenever we're driving south we look for one. The food is hearty and delicious. The service is always quick and they and always helpful when ordering. Specials for everyday of the week. They have nice portions. Delicious corn bread. The outer store has all of the goodies, games, clothing and jewelry is awesome. Why do you do me like this CB? I absolutely love your food an the environment but the service was (gasp) terrible. We were seated right away. The server took our orders and..... we could not find our server but watched other tables in our area get bread, food and attention. Almost 40 minutes later I had to ask a different server for bread. 55 minutes after being seated our food came out. It's cute when you pay the cashier prompt asks you to rate how warm your food was. I now understand why. Our food was luke warm. This is two failed CB' s in a row. I'll give it one more shot to win my love. Stopped in for some breakfast while on a road trip and I was so disappointed! This place was freezing first of all, the staff was ok, but appeared to be in training. Got their cracker barrel breakfast platter and the sausage tasted like cardboard, the grits and eggs were decent, their biscuits have to be pre frozen they were awful. The four piece southern fried chicken chicken, was good juicy as always but not really piping hot. Neither was the baked potato. The butter wasn't melted. Neither was the cheese, and I got the loaded baked potato by the time I took my second or third bite it was cold. The mac & cheese I don't recommend it unless you like watery mushy mac & cheese. The baked apples are really tasty but they got skin on them. I don't like skin on my baked apples maybe other people do but I don't. Horrible experience today! Where do I start. Got there at 6:50pm and the place was not busy we got a table in 5 min. The waitress came and took our drink orders and after our food. She was a good sever .. BUT!! Whoever is in the kitchen should be fired!!!! 7:50pm !!! and still no food and one order was a simple salad ‍ Then we asked how much longer and they said almost ready, the kitchen was busy which was not true. Also their menu shows items that are suppose to be quick orders !! Now to the food , i got the chicken and dumplins which were a quick item on the menu and a signature dish ! Took 1 hr to come and there was about 12 dumplins which were just like raw dough and 2 small pieces of chicken. Picture shows it looks a mess. Then i asked to change it and they said ok but they were out of chicken tenders so i asked for a chicken sandwich. Couple minutes after they come say that they have chicken tenders now if i want that. I said what ever is faster at this point, its been 1 hr and 30min. 10 min later finally i get chicken tenders and mac and cheese. Not worth the wait at all. Also a hair was found in the salad. Fish was over cooked. So kitchen gets a zero !!!! Waitress and manager were nice tho. read more

I'm not much to give negative reviews, My experience was the waitress who was serving us did not have bedside manner.. never checked on us to see if we needed anything which I think that this so so very important when dealing with customers in the restaurant business. The pancakes were horrible, they were hard not fluffy, the bacon was not cooked properly.. it was still soft, not crispy the way I wanted it. Took one bite of it and didn't care for it any longer. Whoa. Look, it's probably just a coincidence, but I've been going here for years and have never had a bad experience...up until today lol. It's the Sunday before Labor Day so maybe that was it, but today was my first ever bad experience at a Cracker Barrel. Was it the holiday weekend or the new logo/rebranding?! Haha. My party of 4 arrived at around 1:45. We were seated relatively quickly considering how busy it was (thank goodness for adding ourselves to the waitlist before getting there) and the waitress came over and took our drink order after about 5 min. She got our drinks about another 5 min later and took our food order, but all 4 of us had to change what we ordered because so many things on the menu were not available! I got my chocolate milk and poured it into the glass, but when I took a sip it tasted very sour. One of the cartons smelled awful! Luckily she took that back and I got a sweet tea instead that was pretty refreshing. The food took 55 minutes to arrive. Unreal. My girlfriend and I ended up going with the chicken n dumplins. Hers looked pretty good, but had less chicken in it than usual. Mine looked dry and barely had any sauce. It looked like it came straight from the microwave, and it was lukewarm. My girlfriend's side of broccoli was cold. My mom's hashbrown casserole was lukewarm and seemed to be burnt leftovers. My girlfriend and I both got a side of corn and it was much less buttery than usual andjust tasted kinda watery. The floors had plenty of food on them with nobody going around to clean and the bathrooms both had trash cans overflowing with paper towels. I don't know what else was going on in the lady's bathroom, but our moms both said they were filthy. I'm someone with a family whose new year tradition is swinging by this Cracker Barrel for a good breakfast to kick off the new year ever since 2005. Two couples came in after we were seated and immediately get service before us after have been waiting 15 mins. We gave the server a chance and waited 10 more mins. Another couple came in and also immediately gets served. The hostess came over to us and says someone will be right with you. After that we walked out. 8 years ago we saw this restaurant from afar but we didn't have time to stop. This trip we decided to stop and give it a try. It was a terrible $85 meal. Our waitress was very nice. Friendly and attentive. The food. Steak tips, shrimp and grilled chicken tenders with mac n cheese and tot casserole. 1/10 everything was just dry. The meat had no flavor, the shrimp was 90% breading and the chicken was dry. The Mac n cheese was also dry and flavorless. It didn't taste cheesy at all. The tot casserole was shredded hasbrowns that were mushy. Hamburger with bacon and cheese. The patty was very much overcooked. We asked for medium well and it was well well edging on shoe leather. It didn't look like a burger they made fresh but rather a frozen patty from Costco. 0/10 Maple bacon chicken again. So dry. There was flavor from the bacon and cheese that was melted on top but the chicken was like it had been sitting under a warmer for an hour or so before coming to the table. 2/10 Fried pickle chips. These were actually pretty good. They could have been better had they been left in the fryer for one more minute. 6/10 Cheddar bites. These were delicous. I wish we'd only ordered these and then just dropped. 10/10 Biscuits and corn bread. Um not sure how corn bread can taste not like corn bread. Purely based on the food, the meatloaf and the ribs were pretty okay for the price. I was impressed with the amount of ribs they gave. And let's be real, it's Cracker Barrel not Nobu. I don't know if they were having an off day, but they never gave us the corn muffins when we asked multiple times and also got our sides mixed up and never got it until we reminded them again when we got our check. Gosh I've been here a million times and it's just a nice spin/difference because the Hudson valley is littered with diners. Cracker Barrel throws in some spice and variety to that while delivering huge portions, for cheap prices, at good quality. The breakfast is always great. My favorite is the seasonal drinks ever changing here. Normally always fantastic. That cinnamon roll latte was *chefs kiss*. Taylor was our waitress. She was AMAZING. I never went into a Cracker Barrel until I moved around the area and spotted this one. Immediately you walk in and see a vintage, yet colorful display of items to purchase ( even throwback candies and holiday attire!). My family and I went to the back of the store to which the kind staff guided us to be seated to our table. Upon deciding on what to eat when you're here, it's so hard to choose from due to the amazingggg prices they have. My husband and I did the 2 x $10 appetizers. I craved the beignets which were baked with pure fluff and right sugar/dough ratio. For the main course, I got the pancake tacos and I truly think if you haven't gotten one of these yourself, please do. All breakfast items in taco form are genius. I highly recommend you come here with family or friends. Plus, when you exit the restaurant you can also shop for goodies so it's a win-win. Came in today with my son to have some lunch. The wait wasn't as long estimated. Which was nice. My son is almost two, so he needed a high chair. We were sat at a small table in a corner by the window and a an open doorway. His chair was placed at the doorway, which is pretty active with workers and customers regularly walking through. A server comes by and takes our drink order, i ordered a lemonade and got my son a water in a kids cup. I usually have my son sit beside me either on my left or my right. In this case, he was at my right with my back to the window. We had a full table of four to our right as well. I moved the high chair to my right so i could better control him and prevent any issues with messes and such. Shortly after as my son is drawing with the crayons, our server comes up to us and tells me that i have to move my son's high chair back to where it was because it was a fire hazard. I looked around and saw that there wasn't even an exit behind me or beside my son. So it didn't make any sense. Then he proceed to inform the manager who came by shortly after to tell me that the servers come by and could bump or drop food on to him because he's in the aisle. It still didn't make sense since his original seat placement was in an active doorway. But i didn't want to go back and forth and make a scene so i just said okay and proceed to try it their way. We got our drinks, he was doing fine in the beginning and then progressed into spilling the water all over the table and floor. While that was happening, i noticed that other tables of four were having fifth chairs added to the aisle which was contradictory to what i was told by the manager. I grew frustrated. When the server came back to ask for our food order, i just asked for the check. He wanted to make sure he heard correctly and said," the check?" I said yup. He brought the check and then i proceeded to take my son and pay for the lemonade that i barely drank and left. I went to my car and realized i forgot my phone so i went back inside. As i was walking back inside, the manager came up to me and told me that he moved the chair to side that i originally wanted. I also noticed that they completely cleaned the area and had a brand new water for my son. I was already annoyed at the contradiction with the other customers being seated and had already paid the bill. So i just quickly told the manager, that's fine, we're leaving. I went and got my phone off the table and left the restaurant. I don't know if we'll come back if we're in the area. read more

This was my first time at a Cracker Barrel in about 10 years. My recollection was homestyle comfort food at a good price. I took my family of five, including 3 kids between 5-9. Service was friendly, but nothing special and atmosphere was ok. A little dark at the table was at, but ok. Food disappointed. Meatloaf was like warm but tasted nice. fried chicken breast was nice but I was surprised it wasn't served with gravy. Loaded hash-browns were also warm, not hot and tasted like they were sitting for a while. Kids burger slider were tiny, the bun was too big for the patty. Kids liked the Mac and cheese. Wife was not a fan of the fried fish. Cheese bread and corn muffins were ok , but a bit hard and not very fresh tasting. The 'real butter' was cold served in tiny plastic containers. Suggestion: serve actual fresh churned butter to be a bit unique! String beans were the canned variety that brought back school lunch memories. Then the bill came, and I realized that my meal for a family of five just paid less than we would have spent at KFC. So, I would not come back, but appreciated I could have a fast food meal at a sit down restaurant at a very reasonable price. Perhaps that is the concept? Clean all of your disgusting restaurants. All of the memorable items hanging from all of the walls in the dining rooms have 1 -2 inches of dust on all of them.
