Easily the best Target that I've ever been. Period.
I'm not one to review chains, but this location is impressive. I was told it is a model for all the Targets of the future. And if this is the future, we will all be shopping at Target for a long time.
The building is relatively new and the first thing you notice is the super large parking lot. It's literally like the size of an IKEA or a mini-mall. You then take an escalator to the top and find yourself in a mega-Target. It has hints of the Targets of old, but is larger, filled with better selection, and most importantly, staffed by many store associates.
We were literally helped with finding clothes items, pointed to proper aisles to find products, and in general, face to face with real customer service. In this day and age of cutting staff (Home Depot is the worst example) and self check-out kiosks, the trend here is a nice one.
The pinnacle of my customer service experience was in the mobile phones section. Here I met Travis Crowley, head of the sales department for mobile phones at Target. Little did I realize how many mobile phones Target sells and that they even had the iPhone 4S on launch day just like Apple and AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint.
I saw Travis helping a couple buy two iPhone 4S and decided to casually ask him if he had any in stock, given that my pre-order had been backed up to ship 2 weeks later. Lo and behold, he had one for me.
I patiently waited my turn to get my iPhone 4S activated and despite not having to endure any chaos like the lines at Apple stores across the country, the mobile phones section is busy.
Customers were milling about asking about prepaid phones, SD cards, xBox's and, of course, iPhones and Travis was multi-tasking with ease as he set me up with my iPhone. I was impressed. I've met many Target employees and he not only knows his area of expertise but is well versed in all the nearby areas, making sure that clueless customers looking around were all taken care of.
Beyond that, he was able to sync my phone contacts, give me a very educated description of Apple Care Plus, and get me out within a reasonable amount of time. A+.
The design, layout, selection and sheer size of this Target location won me over when I visited, but it really was the excellent customer service that put it over the top. I've been a fan of Tar-jay since college, but I'm sold all over again. They have nothing to fear from Walmart and if this store is the model of their future locations, we will all be shopping at Target for a long time.
