I love that they can text you a link to fill out the form online upon check-in. Getting an appointment was super easy online and the person managing appointments was helpful. I also liked that I didn't have a wait too long for my appointment. Dr. Keane was very informative as I have an interest in LASIK surgery and provided a referral to a specific surgeon who her husband has gotten his LASIK surgery done through. I went in and had a great independent eye exam which included an up charge of 40$ for a newer scan that allows you to avoid getting dilated which is a bargain imo. After that you're wisked into the lens/frame department which is an absolute scam. They fit you, have you stare into a iPad, among many other "important" tests to determine your vision and lens needs. After about 20 minutes they come back with a 700$ quote for one set of glasses! After insurance, 418$. I took my prescription and headed right to Costco where I found out Targets frame/lens shop put a hold on my insurance. That took me an extremely frustrating hour to sort and the 418$ lens and frames at Target cost me 79$ out of pocket at Costco, come on man read more

If you're planning to shop at target, before you spend a quarter of your paycheck or grabbing a coffee/tea at Starbucks - stop on by and get your vision checked, buy some new glasses or a set of contacts. The staff here is professional, fun and all the staff are extremely caring. The service is top tier. There are waves of high volume of crowds from time to time depending on the day, but you can easily walk in to make an appointment or book an appointment online. It was my first time here for contacts (ever) and glasses. Everyone was so nice, helpful and really takes their time to educate their patients/customers on the procedures, tests or the purchasing of glasses/contacts. I had Dr. Tavakoli and she was great. Great service and completely free with insurance. I have EyeMed as the insurance. I had Dr. Melody Tavakoli and she was very professional. The exam was quick but throughly. She explained what will be covered with the insurance and what is the copay for each procedure. Believe me I had been to other places where they just want to rip you off as much as possible. Here you have full control and won't get deceived. The staff was helpful and not too pushy for you to purchase. Even though, I had a bit of feeling that I was expected to buy a frame. Everyone is nice, but I had to order new lenses within 6 months, as the coatings they put on them eventually looked smeared and are hard to see thru. Very frustrating, since I paid for coverage, but still had to pay $25 to get replacement lenses, no fault of mine, it's the coating they use and I had to wait over a month to get the replacement lenses and after I finally got them.... two months later (current date) the coating on the lenses are smeared again. I only use water w. a soft cloth to clean my lenses, so there's no excuse for this to be happening AGAIN. Never going to Target again. Very frustrating. They charge a lot of money and make you pay for their defects. read more

The lady here was very nice. I came in to ask for an eyeglass repair kit to fix a loose arm. She offered a free adjustment and repair. I was nervous at first because they aren't responsible for damaging or breaking your glasses during their repair process. I had nothing to worry about. She repaired the loose arm, then adjusted them after I accidentally stretched them out. She even cleaned them for me...all under 5 minutes. It was a slow day so she had time. I promised to leave a review, so here it is. (I closed my glasses in the car console (accident not on purpose) and they're kinda bent out of shape again, so I'll be back soon ). Hands down the best eye appointment I've had! Both the doctor and Diana up front were super helpful and actually gave me information I've never been given before about glasses and contact care (and I've been wearing glasses for 25 years). I wasn't planning on even getting glasses when I got there, but Diana was so helpful - how could I say no? Plus, I don't like the glasses I had before, so now I'm actually excited to wear them. What a great experience after my nightmare at LensCrafters. The entire staff, Dr. Keane, Darnell & Steve were great. They were all very professional, patient and answered all my questions. Dr. Keane's exam was exceptionally thorough and I never felt rushed. Went in to see why my contact was burning and had made a follow up for 3pm today that they canceled without notifying me until I showed up. I've been searching for a place to get a new prescription and new glasses for a while now. I first went to check out my local Costco but was turned off by the horrible customer service I encountered. I love Costco but I don't think I'll be going their optical department. That's when I found Target optical on balboa. I wasn't able to make my initial appointment but they rescheduled me without any issues. The doctor was nice and helpful. They took all the necessary COVID safety measures. Sanitation, gloves, masks. So you can feel safe about going there. Last but not least, Steve was Amazing. His customer service put the experience over the top. Very friendly and knowledgeable. I had a good experience with the staff except with one of the optometrists. I am a huge believer in integrity, honesty and transparency in a business. The optometrist offered to check my optic nerves/retina and gave me two options: eye drops that will make my vision blurry for 4-6 hours or imaging technology. What she failed to mention that this cost $39 extra, I feel like that is very unethical behavior, as I only found this out when it was time to pay. I do believe that's unfair and that should've been mentioned from the get go. Came to this Target Optical after being seen at the Del Sur location and hands down loved this location better! They have a better selection of frames and just loved the overall experience here more. My eye exam with Dr. Keane was very fast and efficient. Not only was I in and out of there but the very few minutes I was in there she let me know that she is also part of a program that gives free exams for babies 6-12 months! Everyone I know who has had kids before had never heard of this but loved that she gave me this information to check out! Definitely felt like she listened to me and all the concerns that I had and could definitely tell that she really cares about her patients. She also informed us that my husband would need to get surgery in order to prevent further eye problems in the future which we were surprised to hear considering that we were never informed of that in the past.! After getting my eyes checked I started to look for some new glasses. I was assisted by Dornelle (unsure of the correct spelling of his name) who gave me some great suggestions on new frames to check out. My husband and I had to wait to order glasses until we got paid later that week, but he was especially helpful in letting us know how much we would end up spending when we came back in and even wrote it down for us on a piece of paper so we knew the breakdown and overall cost! We ended up going back later in the week and was assisted by Steve. He was incredibly helpful in helping me decide on frames, answering any and all questions I had, and loved that he gave his honest opinion. I never felt pressured at all by him during our interaction and even felt like I was getting advice from a friend when I was talking to him. He even went as far as to make sure my husband and I were getting the best deals and tried to help us save the most money which was helpful considering our current economy and being new parents. Overall loved our interaction at this location and will definitely be going here from now on for as long as they take our insurance! And for those wondering about Covid procedures, they were cleaning and sanitizing everything and even asked that we put the glasses we touched/tried on into a separate bin for them to sanitize. They even have separate holders for sanitized and unsanitized pens. read more
