Excellent Communication 4 sure! 13 days from start to finish. Wide array of frames and price points for every budget. My insurance pays $200 annually for new lenses and frames. I , therefore, was out-of-pocket zero dollars, which is exactly how I like it. I'm 70 years old and for the first time I'm actually wearing glasses, can't believe it, never needed them B 4. I did not even know I was wearing them several hours later when I arrived home. No need for sunglasses, these seem to do just fine. Driving with them makes the colors I see more vivid and crisp. I used to see another Dr at Eyeworld, but switched to Dr. Beack after the other doc left. It's been two years with Dr. B and I wish I was with her from the beginning! She is professional yet sooo personable! She'd be someone I'd like to hang out with on a personal level. She's a knowledgeable doc who listens to your concerns and provides great advice/alternatives for you. She also has a retinol screening machine which is something new and a great addition to her services. She also has a great variety of sunglasses and glasses of all different varieties and brands. I went to EyeWorld for my first eye exam, at age 35. I had never needed glasses before but was starting to have trouble reading. Setting up an appointment by phone was easy. When I arrived, the receptionist and Dr. Beack were both very kind and professional. During the eye exam, Dr. Beack explained everything she was doing, which I appreciated because I had not done an eye exam before. Even though I barely needed a prescription, she found a lens setting that improved my vision. After the exam, the customer service rep helped me choose a frame and lenses, answering all of my questions about the various lens options and my insurance coverage. When I came to pick up the glasses a couple of weeks later, the customer service rep had me try them on and read something to make sure they were right. Just by watching, he was able to tell that the frame was very slightly loose for my head. I'm talking about a few millimeters - I hadn't even noticed. He made a small adjustment and they fit perfectly. I really appreciate the extra care. read more

Dr. Beack and the staff here are all amazing, sweet, and personable. I've been a loyal client since pre-pandemic times and I'm so happy to see the new office. It's very clean, organized, and spacious. Very reasonable and great prices as well, even if you don't have eye insurance. Dr. Beack is extremely patient and kind. Our first appointment she took 30-35 minutes teaching me how to put on contact lenses. She is an amazing educator. I always love my talks with Dr. Beack. Eye exams can be uncomfortable, but she walks you through the whole process. She is a great conversationalist. I found EyeWorld on my insurance company's website and emailed them to book an appointment. Irene got back to me fast, sorting out the details and making sure they took my insurance. It was great getting such a quick response and getting booked in so soon. When I went for my appointment, it started right on time. Dr. Baek was really nice and friendly, making sure I felt relaxed during the eye exam. She took the time to explain everything she was doing and why. What really surprised me was their equipment. You know how at some eye check-ups, they blow a puff of air into your eye? At EyeWorld, they have a similar thing, but without the air puff. It was way more comfortable. read more

After a slightly traumatic experience at a previous optometrist with eye dilation as part of my exam, I was a bit concerned choosing a new provider but after seeing the great reviews here, I decided to make an appointment and saw Dr. Beack last Friday. First off, she is so nice over the phone and made sure my insurance was within her network. She is an amazing doctor and is so gentle and professional! She holds amazing conversations and I genuinely had a great time at her office. She also let me know my concerns with eye dilation was totally valid and she's very careful about that procedure during her eye exams (for anyone else that might have the same concerns she typically doesn't do them on the same day if you are driving) It's been a while since I've had an eye exam, but Dr. Beack walked me through pretty much everything she was going to do before we started my exam. I was in and out within 30 mins and I love that her new place is located in a plaza with better parking. Just wrapped up my yearly apt with Dr. Beack. I've been getting my eyes checked by Dr. Beack for about 13 years now. I think it was actually my first visit here that got me to join yelp to leave a review because I was soo impressed. A lot has changed in those 13 years. They've got a new office down the road, and I moved out of Clairemont about 30 mins away. Despite all that I've made it a point to always come back to Eye World Optometry because Dr. Beack and her staff are consistently amazing. I don't believe I've ever had to wait to be seen. The doc is pretty much always on time and ready when I arrive. If anything it's probably me whose been late on occasion making the doc wait (Sorry doc if you're reading this). Everyone there seems to care about their patients -- they even remember the eyewear I purchased in years past! With all the folks coming and going, that's honestly amazing. My wife also now goes to Dr. Beack and agrees with me, best optometrist and optometry staff around. It's just an all around friendly atmosphere and the eyewear selection is great as well. Plus, nobody is going to pressure you to buy anything. Wishing all the success and happiness for everyone working at this office. It looks like from all the rave reviews, my opinion isn't unique. My glasses broke... I was already using my backup pair... I had a great experience with Dr. Beack, and her staff. I am so happy to have found Eyeworld Optometry :D Dr. Beack really understands all the funny things my eyes do, as well as things that can happen during the exam itself. Her understanding really helped me to feel at ease, and get the best prescription possible. I am trying out new contacts. Since i have the same prescription in both eyes it's even more simple. It takes about 1 week to receive the contact lens order, and can conveniently pick them up in office or have them shipped to an address of your choosing. Thank you Eyeworld! My son lost his glasses while at the beach one late Thursday afternoon with school the next day. He didn't have a backup pair (I know shame on me but to be fair he's usually really careful). I called ahead of time around 3ish close to 4pm to see if maybe they could help. They got him in right away and within a few hours my boy had glasses for school and an extra pair for just in case. They had a 2 for $90 deal but it doesn't include the cost of transitions and such which are a must for an active outdoorsy kid in SD. Total was $300 for 2 pairs and the cost of the eye exam. I did not purchase the insurance they offered n were kinda pushy with it but eh, I still recommend them. read more

Left three other shops and third shop just got robbed with full on news media everywhere. It looked like I just pulled up on set. They had barely any inventory so I'm on Yelp looking for the closest Eyewear shop. I just wanted to be done with this errand. I didn't call, I made no appointments. I knew what I wanted and walked in. As the nice worker was pulling up my insurance I found stylish light frames that were sturdy and fit snug. Good enough. Gave my prescription and I was out the door in less then 10 minutes. Excellent! Glasses will be ready less than expected since my vision is pretty good still. Finally new frames in a few days. Thanks EyeWorld for looking after my eye and vision health. I see your great customer service and nice shop. Wish buying a car and house was this easy. They've been in the Kearny Mesa area for, what?, at least 15+ years. Me and my wife have Janet check our eyes every year or so. The shop is run neat & clean. Never had a problem with getting the right lens prescription or pricing. In my case Janet caught an early eye problem about to go serious. Yeah, I appreciate that extra attention to detail since I'm about to turn 70 and my eyes are the only thing (currently) not about to become useless or just flake off my body. Only negative was their old place on Convoy. The parking lot always required extreme automotive parking art skills to navigate. (This was an "interesting feature" if your vision's a tad off) They've since moved across Clairemont opposite Zion Mkt. In short, a great group, very helpful, not pushy. Living in the time of COVID, I am working alot more from computer, mobile or laptop screens and it's been wreaking some havoc on my generally good eyesight. I have VSP thru my employer, so I took a look around at places that took VSP insurance and found a few. I settled on EyeWorld because A: they had the most recent opening/availability I wanted and B: proximity to where I live. They were very responsive to email for appointment. Staff and Dr were super friendly and kept everything sterile during the process. Dr listened to my concerns about my eyesight, gave me vision exam and explained what she thought I needed. I think my whole appointment, included frame selection took about 45 minutes. I paid out of pocket for my blue light filter lenses, but VSP covered everything else. Overall, I highly recommend! And once you're done, you can grab a bite at my fave AYCE Korean BBQ next door! read more

I've been coming here for years. I love Dr. Beack and her staff. Dr. Beack is is not only an awesome optometrist, but she's also so sweet. I always feel like she takes her time during eye exams with me. She's so great at checking in with her patients and making sure they're comfortable that even my 5 yr old, who's usually very timid, loves seeing her. My family is so happy with the staff and service at Eye World that I have my nephews see her every summer when they come to visit from Northern California. Matt and Irene are always welcoming and friendly. Irene is also very helpful in helping my husband and I choose the perfect frames every time. The selection is large with everything from to high end designer frames (Chanel, Tom Ford, Gucci, Prada) to classic or sporty frames (Ray Ban, Puma, Maui Jim). I needed an eye exam for glasses and contacts (w/ astigmatism). I called around to 5 different optometry offices. Irene at EyeWorld quoted me the best price out of all 5. She was also the most friendliest, straight forward, and professional out of the 5. Note: When I called she did answer in a different language. For a second I almost hung up bc I thought I had the wrong phone number. I simply asked if this was EyeWorld and she said yes. So don't hang up, it's the right phone number. :) Appointment was for 11:30. I was on time. They already knew who I was. Had me fill out a couple questions. Dr. Beack was ready for me at 11:30. Eye exam: Wow! Dr. Beack was the most professional and personal optometrist I have ever been to! She really set the bar high. During the eye exam she was patient and non-condescending. She actually asked questions and cared about my answers. Unlike my last optometrist who breezed through the exam as if I was on a timer. I've been to a few optometrists during the past 15 years (moving and such). By far the best experience AND price. Located inside of Zion Market. This is a delayed review. I saw an optometrist here and felt like it was a waste of my time & money. I felt like my vision had worsened, but the optometrist rushed through the exam and concluded my vision was the same. I also have high eye pressure, and I let him know that I had a specialist that I see for it. But he wouldn't stop bugging me about it - probably lectured me a good 20 minutes that I should let him check my eye pressure even though I already let him know I was only comfortable with my specialist. And he continued to pressure me and lecture me until I felt like I was going to explode. Honestly there was nothing good that came out of this visit. Not only did he fail to give me an updated prescription, he acted as though he knew better than the specialist and I was wrong for not letting him check my eye pressure. read more

Not sure what it was that day at this place, but if you really want a good optometrist go find one that is welcoming, eager to help, and is interested in why you're visiting. Obviously I did not have this experience. I came in to browse their selections before deciding to enroll as a new patient. No one spoke to me if I needed help or anything. I found one pair that I was considering to get but the overall impression left me feeling like it would be a waste of time. Two stars for a somewhat decent collection of frames. However, they were overpriced featuring Chanel, Gucci, Oliver's People, and Prada. read more
