I chose this place because of the high ratings and I'm so glad I did. Exceptional customer service from everyone who worked there. I like that the Eye Doctor was personal, friendly, and cheerful. After I got my eyes checked, I couldn't figure out which frame I wanted. I kept going back and forth between a few of them, but the guy who worked in the front was so nice and patient and he took his time to help me through it by giving me his opinion about each one. I am so happy with the outcome and with my new glasses and how they look and feel. It has improved my driving and I am no longer a danger to the streets lol. read more

Can't say enough about how well they take care of you. I went in to have some new lenses added to my new frames. Couldn't believe when they said it would be ready in a few days. Unfortunately ran into an issue where the lenses I order would not arrive til the Monday after. I mentioned I would not be able to grab them til Wednesday as I was going out of town on vacation. Not only did they apologize for the delay, they called back an hour later saying they made some temporary lenses for my new frames until my other lenses were being made. No charge. Told me just bring the frames when I got back to replace with the lenses I ordered. If that's not grade A customer service, I don't know what is. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

I've long been a purveyor of Lenscrafters, the 7-11 of optometry, but had to make a change when my VSP was not accepted there. I am so glad that I did! I got an appointment to see Dr. Janet Beack the same day I called in. When I arrived, I was pleased to see the eyewear selection wasn't hurting. I was promptly seen by Janet and she was extremely courteous and patient with my questions and my inevitable wavering between 1... and 2.... 1... and 2... As an added bonus, my glasses arrived in under a week. I don't know what the average turnaround is here but I'm used to waiting at least two weeks at the big guys. Highly recommended! read more

The Details: Same day appointment - called at 2pm and had a 4pm appointment. Arrived early and was seen early! So far expectations exceeded. Optometrist Janet Beack carried out a full exam and made pleasant conversation. We wear the same type of contacts and compared notes on care and wear. Tae Kim the sales manager did a great job of showing me frames. He was very patient as we tried on many many frames to find a pair that were just right. For a $10 co-pay I ended up with a new designer frame, lenses and 6 month supply of contacts (I have very (very) good vision insurance). Best experience at a health care provider that I can remember. I had a really great experience with Eyeworld Optometry. - The optometrist I saw was absolutely great. I saw great reviews on Yelp before going, but was weary upon entering a very Korean part of Kearny Mesa, thought my worries were for no reason as everyone in the staff at Eyeworld Optometry the two times I was there had very clear English so for anyone that has had a bad experience with not being able to communicate with a professional elsewhere, it will not be a problem here :) - Again, the optometrist I saw was great. I brought in my old glasses and the last empty contact packs that I had just finished using. She came back right away asking which was more recent since the prescriptions were quite a bit different. And then after the exam explained that my prescriptions was a bit different again. (yay ;-/ ) - My exam was very thorough, she was very patient with flipping the lenses 2-5 times just to make sure I'm seeing the most clearly. I absolutely hate when an optometrist gets impatient after asking to flip them a second time - feeling pressured to quick make a decision that ultimately influences how well you will see for the next year or two. While thorough, my exam was also relatively quick. We discussed the pathology of the eye mostly on clinical terms, as I work in the biomedical sciences, I prefer to know what is actually going on rather than in layman's terms. We also talked about other random stuff which I don't recall since it has been a few months, but she definitely made an effort to get to know me as a patient, establish some rapport, and not just push through like the cattle herding through Pearl or Lens Crafters. - Before and after the exam, the staff members were very accommodating, and once my insurance was looked up, I was shown what range of glasses that my insurance completely covered, noting where the glasses above that range started. Previous experiences at other places, I've been strictly directed to the expensive frames, often being told that it will Only be $200 after my insurance reduction (if there even was one). I started looking at the more expensive ones and he politely reminded me that I would be responsible for any additional costs above what my insurance would pay. Anyway, everyone was nice. I have terrible eyesight. My vision is horrible with high astigmatism that all my contacts are always custom ordered and I wait quite a while for them too. It's also very expensive, even when I go to Costco. The good news is that I have free vision insurance from work (the word FREE gets me every time) and it's been almost 1.5 years since I last had my vision checked here. The first time I came here, I had Dr. Baeck and she was very sweet. Seriously, I was surprised she could even correct my vision, since 95% of the time, everything was blurry when she asked me which one was clearer. I couldn't even tell. Yep, my vision is THAT bad. This time around, I had Dr. Cha who fills in while Dr. Baeck is away. He was very courteous and even recommended that I go to the location in Zion if it is more convenient for me there. I'm still waiting on my trial pair this time around, but it's good to know that if things don't work out, I could order another trial set. I like that they are open until 7pm on weekdays - it's nice to browse their selection of eyeglass frames without having someone breathing down your neck like some other franchises. I don't just feel like a number to them, and I appreciate the vast selection of high-end and lower end brands that they offer. read more

Being cared for under Dr. Beack is probably theee only BEST thing I can do for my eyes! Since moving to SD, I was worried about finding a good eye dr/office that would be of any help for me. I'm pretty much damaged goods.. :( Dr. Beack has been seeing me for the past few years and I'm soo appreciative to have found someone who loves what they do! She truly cares for her patients well being and most certainly knows her job well and because of that I will continue to come here for any questions, exams and everything else eye related. However, couple days later, I accidentally broke the lenses. Dr. Beack replaced the sample contact lenses for me with no additional cost and she asked if I had any problem with the contact lenses. If you're looking for a pair of Asian style or modern glasses, this is definitely the place you should go. Eyeworld Optometry is located in the same plaza as Chinamax, on the far left corner. I usually keep my Eyeworld Optometry glasses case in my backpack. My car got broken into three days ago and it was stolen. I explained my situation and asked for a replacement and the male Korean assistant gladly provided me a new one free of charge. Thankfully, I was wearing my glasses before this incident happened. They even provide you with a microfiber cleaning cloth. So what did I learn about this place? I found EyeWorld as a tip from another Yelper. After reading the reviews, I knew I had to take my chances. I am so happy that I did! Dr. Janet is so kind, thorough & professional. I usually dread going to eye exams but the appointment w/ Dr. Janet went so smoothly. Dr. Janet was so informative & patient w/ all my questions. Since I pay cash, I was even more pleased with the amount I paid for the exam, contact fitting & eyeglass Rx update. Dr. Janet even sent me home with extra contacts for "just in case". Great customer service, friendly and professional staff, they go above and beyond, great selection of glasses though I came in for a prescription renewal and contacts. Situated in a plaza of Korean restaurants and stores on the same side of the street and across from Honda service center. I came in a few mins early and they were ready for me helping only one other customer. I made my Saturday eye exam appt the same day after calling a bunch of other optometries who were booked up or couldn't accommodate my limited schedule...Eye World not only had availability, but seemed to have more staff on hand than needed which tells me they're simply off the beaten path/unknown, but a diamond in the rough for sure! Everyone was very friendly from beginning to end. Even though I was in an okay/so-so mood they're eagerness to please and be friendly left me with a positive impression. I came in for a contacts prescription and ended up having a problem verifying my insurance coverage. They said they'd take me anyway for an exam (I had an email listing my benefits so it was probably a safe bet to take a chance on) gave me some contacts to try which I needed desperately (!!) said they'd follow up with me as soon as they heard from my insurance carrier and they did! Every interaction with them was friendly and professional despite the difficulties experienced with my insurance verification. Only people who wear eye glasses can relate. I came in with a broken pair because the screw on one of the temples fell out. I was working next door. My optometrist was closed for the weekend so here I an in a panic. The lady who warmly greeted me went on to fix them free of charge! That is unbelievable service. Great establishment! Do note, that the business opens at 10AM, but Doc Janet isn't in until 11AM, so plan accordingly. Plenty of parking, BUT the plaza has plenty of establishments, as well. So get in as early as you can to avoid parking mishaps. It's Convoy after all! Walked back in at 11AM & Doc Janet was there to get some information. She's one of the nicest doctors I've had the pleasure of working with. She made sure to answer & address any concerns I had. Also she did a great job explaining what the tests were for. The whole appointment took about 25-30 min, really depends on if you have a lot of questions or whatnot. I just walked-in needing an eye exam for contacts. This cost me $85. Prices vary case by case, but EyeWorld was the most affordable. They were all helpful & friendly. Thanks for the great service! read more

They have a great selection of frames with a lot of variety. I have a small face and it's hard to find cute glasses that look good on me, so I was pleased with their selection of smaller frames. I was not aware that I needed glasses and then.... Uh oh things started getting blurry. This is my first experience with any Eye Doctor. I was pleasantly surprised at the efficiency and kindness that Eye World shows. Now if only I could get a regular Doctor that acts like the employes at Eye World! Dr. Beack is a sweet lady, she is very helpful and knowledgeable. I always go to her to get my eyes checked. Last week I went in because I thought I had an eye infection. She was very helpful and told me where to go for the generic eye drops as the brand name ones would cost me more. She speaks English fluently so don't hesitate to go because it is in the Korean part of the neighborhood. Definitely would recommend this place! read more

I came here for glasses back in 2009, and again today. The optometrist and staff were very kind and helpful. The selection is not huge but they have a lot of nice styles. I've been to other places that have a huge selection but then I'm there forever trying to to decide what to get. The staff and optometrist were very helpful in finding me glasses that would fit my face and looked good. I called in the morning and was able to get a same day, afternoon appointment for me and my wife, we showed up on time and they were waiting for us and took us right in. We were in and out in less than an hour, there was no pressure or attempts to up sell us on more expensive frames, lenses or unneeded services. We also brought in our glasses from our 2009 visit and they readjusted our glasses and replaced the nose pads for free, my wife brought a pair of old glasses in that needed some screws and new lenses and they're taking care of that for me as well. (new lenses ran around $60) I would recommend to a friend or family member. read more

The optometrist is super sweet and knowledgable. The sales people are very courteous and helpful. They're open until 6 and were the only ones in the area that were open after 5 . This worked well for me since I do not get out of work until 5. I was able to make an appointment for the same day I called. I came for an eye exam and was treated in a very professional yet warm way. Greeted as soon as I entered, had all of my questions answered. I'm not a patient here but I decided to review Eyeworld because they saved me when I was in a tiny crisis! You know those commercials when someone is going to put on a contact, but then it drops in the toilet? And then they go to grab a new one but that was their last one? This is basically what happened to me. And to top it all off, it's Fourth of July weekend so most optometrists in my area are closed. I logged onto yelp and started going down the list, calling all practices and getting the answering machine. Luckily Eyeworld was open! I told them my situation, brought in my prescription (a physical written copy that I had) and they gave me a trial pair of my usual prescription, hassle free! The guy who helped me was in the middle of eating his lunch, but he was really friendly about it and very sweet for doing this! I may just switch! read more

I stopped by early and not only did they let me move my exam up earlier, when my sister asked if she could make an appointment they let her have her eye exam right after me to save us time. The Optometrist and reception guy are so nice, funny and helpful. Also they accept VSP! I've been seeing her since 2012 and, as others say, she is caring and professional, the office stocks an excellent array of frame choices and the prices are reasonable. Very professional service. If you are the type who needs help choosing a frame, they will guide you through their selection. If you are like me, a person who doesn't want a salesman breathing down your neck, they will give you all the time and space you need. On the left wall, frames are assorted roughly by ascending price from right to left. On the right you will find ~$80 Korean frames (which I always go with :D). For their price point, these are actually pretty sturdy and stylish and have held up for several years of everyday use. read more

This place is great! Can't say enough about the friendly staff. They were pretty busy when I showed up so I took some time to look at all of the different types of frames. They have a nice selection of fashionable frames that range in prices from the cheap hundies Ray Bans to a couple hundies Boss bling. Had the exam, picked the frames and came back a couple days later to pick them up. Unfortunately, I picked a Mon and they had that store (Zion Market) closed on Mon! So I called the other store and told the guy who I was and what I was trying to do and came over from the other store and hooked a ninja up! It doesn't surprise me that Eye World already has 5 Stars. I've been coming here since I first moved to San Diego nearly four years ago. The staff is super helpful and resourceful. Dr. Janet is a delight and incredibly welcoming. I now live in Vista but will drive an hour to stop in, just because they are that great. They offer competitive prices on lenses (I believe most vision insurances are accepted). I was able to score a six month supply of contacts for just $10 after insurance. This is also where I got my first pair of Oliver Peeples glasses. They encouraged me to shop around, while I was considering. While I found one or two better quotes, I went to eye world because I knew that my glasses would be handled with quality and that the lenses would be fitted perfectly. Great doctor, great staff, great service, great products and good prices. I can't think of any reason to not give them five stars! read more

On my way in, the optometrist greeted me and before I know it I was in the eye exam room. The doctor was personable but also very efficient and go me and in and out quickly, which I appreciated. I decided to get fitted with current contact brand lens even though the doctor said I could try as many as I liked. There wasn't a need for a followup for my contact lens fitting I was told to call them if I thought the prescription was right for me.
