What a breath of fresh air. I really recommend this place.
Arlene P.

Covid review #123 ANOTHER breath of fresh air! Ive found my Optometrist in Clairemont! Since Im no longer in Downtown typically anymore, I needed to find a new optometrist. Last year, 2020, I tried one and I really wasn't very happy with them, but I was giving them a break since it was covid time... but after trying this place in 2021, I realize I was settling... THIS PLACE IS GOOD. SAN DIEGO OPTOMETRY!!! I didn't realize how bad the other place was until I went here. #1 I can see again!!! My rx is correct and now I can see in church, while driving AND at night. The other place I didn't have the same experience blaming my older eyes #2 Doc is personable and real. Efficient, yet not cold. I could have a real conversation with him and he knows what he's doing. #3 Support team is also efficient, real and friendly and helpful! I ordered new glasses and Im happy with how they let me try them on and measured my fit. I also bought contacts and they were ready the next day. #4 They do the covid precautions but they are normal and cool about it. This is how optometry offices all should be. 10 stars.

Beautiful office

I just saw Dr. Esfandiari today for my first eye exam. When entering the office, I was greeted by a warm and friendly smile by the lady in the front. Dr. E was so friendly and answered all of my questions. I learned so much about my eyes that I never knew before. He performed so many tests on my eyes checking for pressure, near and far sight. I felt really good about the exam and definitely will be back!

I was absolutely petrified to go through with eye surgery, and am generally an extremely anxious…read moreperson as it is. To know that I was considering trusting someone to shoot lasers into my eyeballs was horrifying. For this reason, I've put off LASIK and hadn't seriously considered taking the leap of faith for years. About three years ago, I was told that I could no longer wear contact lenses, or I'd risk blindness due to over a decade of wearing contacts while out surfing. I guess the combination of saltwater, sand granules, and whatever else trapped between the contact and my eye had caused severe scarring and repeated infections. Without contacts, surfing just hasn't been the same. I couldn't see well enough out in the lineup, and felt very depressed remembering what it used to be like when I was able to wear contacts out there. My only option was eye surgery, or a lifetime of squinting and not really enjoying my biggest passion in life, which I've been doing for 24 years. I came across Clearview online, and spent tens of hours, literally, researching the clinic, Dr. Sandy Feldman, reading reviews, etc. I decided to go in for a consultation, and was immediately put at ease by the friendliness, professionalism, and patience of the staff. In terms of patience, I'd especially like to thank Jared, who sat with me for over an hour answering all of my questions and addressing my concerns, never being forceful or trying to get me to sign and schedule. We discussed what type of surgery was best for me, how much it was going to cost (I received an Educator discount which was great,) and what the recovery timeline was. I ended up scheduling surgery for yesterday, 5/15, which at the time was about two weeks out. Last week, amidst another freak out about this, I called Jared and asked if it would be possible to observe a LASIK operation to settle my nerves. Sure enough, he found a patient that was kind enough to oblige and invited me in to watch. The entire operation took less than ten minutes and looked like no big deal! The patient came out smiling and said he felt fine. That really was the final piece that encouraged me to just commit and get this handled. I went in for surgery at 2:30 yesterday. I was a terrible patient, did not take things well, was not calm whatsoever, and repeatedly freaked out. I squeezed the small teddy bear they gave me as if I was a toddler, and squeezed the surgical tech's hand, asking Dr. Feldman if "everything was ok," and "did something go wrong?" She exhibited herculean levels of patience and empathy. I got through it, there was absolutely no pain, and the experience felt like something out of a science fiction movie. It was actually very cool! I went home, took the provided sleeping pills, and passed out. While I woke up intermittently throughout the night, the worst of it was just a feeling like I had sand stuck in my eyes, blurry vision, and a sensation as if I was looking through a steamed up glass. I woke up this morning around 5, (twelve hours of sleep is more than enough,) and found that the gritty sensation had since disappeared, my sight was near perfect, and I felt more or less normal. Unbelievable! I drove myself to my pre-op appointment (without glasses), met with Dr. Amir who told me that I was healing nicely, and was in and out of the office in ten minutes. I challenge others to be as freaked out and apprehensive about going through with eye surgery as I was. I was doing all of the things you shouldn't do: -Googling horror stories about LASIK going wrong -Hyperfixating on the rare low review and looking for one that stated someone had gone blind -Listened to a bunch of Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder and considered if my degree in Jazz Saxophone would be enough to make a living as a blind man All is well! My only regret, as many have stated, is not getting this done sooner. Just do it! You're going to be fine, you'll love the results, it does not hurt, and you can trust Dr. Feldman and her team. Thank you all so much for everything!

Where to start? I am beyond thrilled that we found Dr Motwani and Cornea Revolution…read more My 17 year old son was diagnosed with keratoconus in February after noticing worsening vision that wasn't helped by glasses. I began diving into researching keratoconus and was completely overwhelmed because the provider who diagnosed him was not communicating with me to answer questions and concerns. We had been given an appointment for corneal collagen crosslinking but it was almost 3 months from the time of diagnosis. AND we were told that any vision correction needed after crosslinking could be addressed with 'special lenses' (scleral lenses most likely) I was concerned after reading how fast keratoconus can progress in teens, So I found myself on a Facebook support group seeking answers. I posted asking anyone whether 3 months was too long to wait to do anything, especially after I learned my son's tests put him in the advanced range in one eye. To my surprise, Dr Motwani answered my question on Facebook. He advised he would always treat teens sooner rather than later due to quicker progression which confirmed what I'd been reading. But he also mentioned his CREATE + Crosslinking protocol. I didn't know any such thing existed- that there was a way to not only stop progression but correct the vision as well. Dr Motwani is a pioneer in this field. After calling the office I was offered an appointment that would be sooner than our original provider would even talk to me on the phone to address my concerns. Lyra spoke with me for a long time on the phone. I was able to speak to two moms whose teens had seen Dr Motwani and both moms gave very positive reviews. I was so impressed at the level of care they provided even before we made the appointment to be seen. So, I knew in my heart this was worth the drive and out of pocket cost. And I was right. I'm moved to tears now because my son's vision is greatly improved. The 'cone' in his worse eye is much smaller, and completely gone in the other eye. His vision is nearly 20/20 now. He can see a lot better. We are almost three months out from surgery and healing will continue but he has improved so much already. We were treated so kindly by Dr Motwani and the whole staff. During surgery, my son requested a Stevie Wonder album be played and they honored his request. I watched the whole process through the glass doors and on the monitor. And afterwards during the challenging first night, I was able to call and speak to the tech, Angelle, for advice and reassurance even late at night. Kind, transparent, and competent. We are so grateful! Thank you!

Day of the Surgery: The actual procedure was done in a very short period of time. I felt pressure on my eye socket, but nothing else. You just stare at some lights and each eye is done in a matter of 20-30 seconds. Once you're done, they give you protective goggles and send you off with whoever is driving you. You get meds to help you sleep and relax your eyes for the rest of the day. When I woke up from this, I could already see much better. Next Day: I woke up and was astonished at how good my vision was. I have books across the room from my bed and I could read all the titles from where I was laying. Pre-surgery I couldn't even tell there was writing where the titles were. I had my check up at NVision, which I drove myself to and the rest of the day was great. Day 3: This day, my eyes hurt like hell. I took drops a lot and tried to keep my eyes closed a lot. The rest of the week, the pain decreased and went away and my vision continued to improve. I was never more excited when I didn't have to wear the goggles to bed anymore haha Over the next several weeks and months, my eyesight was much crisper than it had ever been when I wore contacts. Colors were more vibrant and I could read street signs much farther away. My eyes needed drops at the beginning and end of days as they were frequently dry and to this day I still have minor halos around lights at night, but damn this eyesight is a dream. If you are eligible for Contura, I would definitely spend the extra money and do it. It made a big difference for me.

I had cataract surgery in Jan-Feb 2015 at Gordon Schanzlin New Vision. It did not go well for me and I struggled with my vision for over 18 months afterwards (and am still struggling). I think Dr. Gordon & Co. are competent doctors, and for many people, everything will go well. But they don't excel at taking care of those for whom it didn't go well. I don't think they listen to and address the patient's issues very well. For example, I complained a lot about how dry my eyes were, like I was using eye drops constantly all day long, and Dr. Gordon told me repeatedly that I didn't have dry eyes. Well, now I'm being treated for dry eyes by Dr. Nanduri, and it's making all the difference in my vision. She explained how irregularities in the cornea that are caused by insufficient lubrication in the eye cause irregular acuity of vision. Makes perfect sense. So far, I've had the Lipiflow treatment and punctual plugs, plus taking an anti-inflammatory, eyelid exercises, omega fish oil, the right eye drops, and it's all making a world of difference. I used to not be able to see clearly for most of the day, and use eye drops every 10 minutes. Now I can see well for most of the day and use eye drops first thing in the morning, a couple times at work when my eyes get tired from staring at the computer, and a couple times at night. Such a difference! If I had it to do over again, I would go to Dr. Nanduri for cataract surgery and IOL implants. Dr. Nanduri takes more care to ensure a perfect outcome for every patient, even the difficult ones like me. When she does cataract surgery with Crystalens, she orders several different prescriptions to be in the operating room during the procedure, and after the old lens with the cataract is removed, she measures the prescription yet again so that she can get it as close to perfect as possible (a close friend had his cataract surgery done there, that's how I know). Had I gone to her for the surgery instead of Dr. Gordon, I'm certain that I would have been spared the last 18 months of hell not being able to see well enough to work and drive, and having to work and drive anyway. Dr. Nanduri is very personable and bright. Sometimes I've had to wait too long, if they have emergencies, or the previous appointments go too long. I don't prefer that, but it won't stop me from seeing Dr. Nanduri. My quality of life has been strongly affected by not being able to see well, and she is getting that corrected for me, thank god.

She also advised at the visit to have a procedure to clean out my tear ducts. But before that could be done, she said I had an injury to my cornea and would need a stem cell procedure injecting the material into my cornea in the area of the lesion. First of all, the stem cell procedure should have been performed on a different day. Not at the same time as tear duct procedure. My eye is still injured from the stem cell procedure. Neither procedures helped at all.
