She took the time to show me different styles and helped me choose the perfect pair. I ended up ordering a Burberry frame, and the prescription lenses came out exactly the way I wanted. I needed comfier glasses, and they had the best selection in the vicinity. I made 2 visits, and I'm glad I did because this is the best optometry office out of maybe 7 I can recall. Dr. Wang and Jessica were knowledgeable, kind, honest, and genuinely cared about my best vision experience. At other offices, I've felt hurried, pressured into different sales tactics, unable to ask the optometrist all my questions, and a shift in attitude when they realized I wasn't going to dish out $ on their dated frames. This place was the opposite of all those bad experiences. They had the best frames and best attitudes. My eye exam was very pleasant, even with the eye blower. The office was clean and cozy, and I never before felt a prescription and eyewear more tailored for my comforts and day to day life. Trust me, I don't usually wax poetic about medical providers, but Dr. Wang is simply fantastic! This was my son's and my first visit - I made what should have been 30 minute appointments for each of us, but we ended up taking nearly 2 hours of Dr. Wang's time... He displayed the patience of Job as he instructed my brand-new-to-contacts teen on how to properly insert, remove, and care for his lenses, and never once exhibited even a shred of annoyance when my son struggled with the unfamiliar task or when I peppered him with questions about eye health. It seems clear Dr. Wang genuinely cares about his patients, and is as personable as he is knowledgeable. Combine the above-mentioned awesomeness with the ease of scheduling (I literally called yesterday and my son and I were able to get back-to-back appointments today), plus a broad selection of frames (I particularly appreciate Dr. Wang introducing me to Bliss, a reasonably priced Korean eyewear line that accommodates Asian nose bridges exceptionally well), and I'm thrilled. This is now my go to optometrist! Dr. Wang is a kind and intelligent optometrist. They have a good selection of frames. They are also an authorized Oakley dealer (not every optometrist is) - which have been my go to prescription frames for the past few years. If you are looking to get an eye examination, then go to this shop. Dr. Wang is a great optometrist. However I do not recommend purchasing any eye glasses/frames from this shop. If you get unlucky like I did you too will end up with knockoffs. I have attached pictures to show how I am wearing the glasses because I don't have any other pair and without my glasses I can't see! Description for my pictures: the metal wire piece is what the silicone ear pads covered. Both sides snapped off. The silicone part was flimsy and once the wire snapped out, I was shocked) I had to get creative and use paperclips and duck tape Once again, I don't have an issue with Dr. Wang; he is very kind. Arbitrarily using my Vision insurance here was among the best decisions I made all year. I didn't want my insurance to go to waste, so I went here after trying Mira Mesa Optometry the year before that. There were more appointments available here, and that could be because they're newer. After a year of painful glasses and contacts, I was very unsatisfied with the other place's better offerings and wanted to treat myself to modern and reputable brands. This place had them, but won me over with great service, very kind optometrist and receptionist, and unrivaled patience. They also seemed to want the best eye experience for me, so they answered my question with in depth knowledge of all the modern brand generations and advantages. Also, my prescription is much more accurate here (I doubt my eyesight changed that if at all much in a year since I got an exam elsewhere). Imho, better than the competition by far. read more

I was really hopeful after seeing all those 5-star reviews. And the appointment started off great as Dr. Wang is really nice and easy to talk to. PROs: - Dr. Wang was very nice and professional during the eye appointment. - I was able to get an appointment quickly (within a few days of calling). - The office is clean. CONs: - I would have left a 5-star review but.... - Still has old equipment that blows air into your eye. I haven't been to a doctor that blew air into my eye in over 7 years because other options are now available. - Extra charges that were not confirmed before performing procedures that are known by that office to not be covered by insurance. My company pays for really good insurance and my insurance co-pay is $10. After my appointment, the office manager totals up my bill to the tune of $100. I was shocked so I asked where the other $90 charges came from since my co-pay is $10. She explained that $30 was for a retina exam and $60 was for a contact fitting. I explained that I didn't get a contact fitting - just a prescription. The interaction was awkward. She went back and had to confirm this with Dr. Wang. Then she removed the charge from my bill. I asked her to explain to me what the difference was between a normal eye appointment and a retina exam. She told me, "Most insurance companies don't cover the retina exam but it is a really good exam". I said, " It does seem like a good exam, but if you know most insurance companies don't cover this, it is your responsibility to ask me if I want this exam at an extra cost. Because you know what insurance I have and anything you do during the appointment is presumably covered under my health insurance. How am I suppose to know the difference between a regular eye exam and a "special" eye exam?" She was very apathetic and all she had to say to me was it was a good exam and I should have gotten it. That is fine and maybe I really did need that extra retina exam (machine takes a picture of inside your retina) - but it is the responsibility of the office manager or the doctor to explain what the extra exam is, what the extra charges are, and getting my consent before performing it. I was going to order my contacts through Dr. Wang because he seemed very nice and the price of the private label contacts seemed somewhat reasonable. However, not explaining those costs to me upfront and the lack of apology makes me not want to ever go back. read more

I am so glad we found Dr. Wang for my daughter's CRT prescription! After a thorough evaluation, Dr. Wang explained the pros and cons to us so we could make an informed decision. Once we decided to go that route, he patiently taught my then 8 year old to put on and take off the lenses on her own, and took all the time needed to make sure the lenses fit well. In the 8 months that my daughter's had CRT, Dr. Wang has always been accessible and very supportive. Not only was his pricing reasonable, the care he provided has been top notch. I literally just finished my eye exam with Dr. Wang and had such a great experience! I had a Groupon and called yesterday for an appointment for today and luckily they had some available! They were very helpful and allowed me to try on every frame, help make suggestions, and gave me a price I couldn't be. Dr. Wang is very efficient but not at all rushed, and made me feel comfortable with his easygoing manner and openness with answering my questions. I got prescriptions for glasses and contacts here. Dr. Wang helped me order new contacts and didn't try to push a purchase on me when I decided to get new glasses elsewhere. A great experience all in all. The office is clean and well-lit, and has a welcoming atmosphere. The selection of glasses frames in the lobby is somewhat small and all high-end, luxury brands. My initial appointment a year ago was wonderful, and I'm about to have my first recheck. With lifelong complicated vision, at age 76 I am near-sighted, have an astigmatism and some strabismus (abnormal eye alignment). Despite all this, Dr. Wang, in San Diego, gave me my first frame-less, ultra-lightweight eyeglasses with very "accurate vision-correction." They're the most comfortable and attractive glasses I have ever had. Dr Wang reminds me of an ophthalmologist due to his vast knowledge base. He took the time to thoroughly assess my complicated vision, to answer all my questions, and ultimately provide me with clearest vision I've had in decades. Dr Wang is great! I had several questions about my vision which were all answered. The eye exam is thorough and affordable. I had seen two optometrists at the Shiley eye center and still didn't know what was wrong with me. Dr Wang was able to tell me in 30 minutes.
