I too my son here to get his annual eye exam and our experience was very pleasant and efficient. I would recommend

I needed comfier glasses, and they had the best selection in the vicinity. I made 2 visits, and I'm glad I did because this is the best optometry office out of maybe 7 I can recall. Dr. Wang and Jessica were knowledgeable, kind, honest, and genuinely cared about my best vision experience. At other offices, I've felt hurried, pressured into different sales tactics, unable to ask the optometrist all my questions, and a shift in attitude when they realized I wasn't going to dish out $ on their dated frames. This place was the opposite of all those bad experiences. They had the best frames and best attitudes. My eye exam was very pleasant, even with the eye blower. The office was clean and cozy, and I never before felt a prescription and eyewear more tailored for my comforts and day to day life. All in all, I really appreciated feeling reassured rather than hearing a sales pitch and/or being rushed. read more

Trust me, I don't usually wax poetic about medical providers, but Dr. Wang is simply fantastic! This was my son's and my first visit - I made what should have been 30 minute appointments for each of us, but we ended up taking nearly 2 hours of Dr. Wang's time... He displayed the patience of Job as he instructed my brand-new-to-contacts teen on how to properly insert, remove, and care for his lenses, and never once exhibited even a shred of annoyance when my son struggled with the unfamiliar task or when I peppered him with questions about eye health. It seems clear Dr. Wang genuinely cares about his patients, and is as personable as he is knowledgeable. Combine the above-mentioned awesomeness with the ease of scheduling (I literally called yesterday and my son and I were able to get back-to-back appointments today), plus a broad selection of frames (I particularly appreciate Dr. Wang introducing me to Bliss, a reasonably priced Korean eyewear line that accommodates Asian nose bridges exceptionally well), and I'm thrilled. He even adjusted my son's current glasses - which were not purchased through Designer Eyes Optometry - for free, just because he's so nice. Fabulous customer service! read more

This is now my go to optometrist! Dr. Wang is a kind and intelligent optometrist. They have a good selection of frames. They are also an authorized Oakley dealer (not every optometrist is) - which have been my go to prescription frames for the past few years. I have found this office to be straightforward, caring, and honest. Good communication and no surprises. read more

If you are looking to get an eye examination, then go to this shop. Dr. Wang is a great optometrist. However I do not recommend purchasing any eye glasses/frames from this shop. If you get unlucky like I did you too will end up with knockoffs. I have attached pictures to show how I am wearing the glasses because I don't have any other pair and without my glasses I can't see! Description for my pictures: the metal wire piece is what the silicone ear pads covered. Both sides snapped off. The silicone part was flimsy and once the wire snapped out, I was shocked) I had to get creative and use paperclips and duck tape Once again, I don't have an issue with Dr. Wang; he is very kind. My issue is with their merchandise. I'm very disappointed. read more

I've been going to this shop for years. The doctor and staff are very knowledgeable and professional. The doctor always does his best to educate you and help you find the best solutions. Happy to have you part of the Mira Mesa neighborhood. Thank you Dr. Wang ! read more

Arbitrarily using my Vision insurance here was among the best decisions I made all year. I didn't want my insurance to go to waste, so I went here after trying Mira Mesa Optometry the year before that. There were more appointments available here, and that could be because they're newer. After a year of painful glasses and contacts, I was very unsatisfied with the other place's better offerings and wanted to treat myself to modern and reputable brands. This place had them, but won me over with great service, very kind optometrist and receptionist, and unrivaled patience. They also seemed to want the best eye experience for me, so they answered my question with in depth knowledge of all the modern brand generations and advantages. Also, my prescription is much more accurate here (I doubt my eyesight changed that if at all much in a year since I got an exam elsewhere). Imho, better than the competition by far. read more

Been 3 years since I went to see an optometrist, I always hated going to the one I went to because my eyes were to sensitive and I always needed to retake tests and drove my optometrist crazy. Here they are patient and so gentle with your eyes. They are going to give you the best deal here, even when your not even asking. Just got my new pair of glasses today and so excited to come back for my next appointment. read more

Friendly business, very thorough during the exam, and they didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. I really appreciated their honesty and I'll definitely be back each year. read more

I was really hopeful after seeing all those 5-star reviews. And the appointment started off great as Dr. Wang is really nice and easy to talk to. PROs: - Dr. Wang was very nice and professional during the eye appointment. - I was able to get an appointment quickly (within a few days of calling). - The office is clean. CONs: - I would have left a 5-star review but.... - Still has old equipment that blows air into your eye. I haven't been to a doctor that blew air into my eye in over 7 years because other options are now available. - Extra charges that were not confirmed before performing procedures that are known by that office to not be covered by insurance. My company pays for really good insurance and my insurance co-pay is $10. After my appointment, the office manager totals up my bill to the tune of $100. I was shocked so I asked where the other $90 charges came from since my co-pay is $10. She explained that $30 was for a retina exam and $60 was for a contact fitting. I explained that I didn't get a contact fitting - just a prescription. The interaction was awkward. She went back and had to confirm this with Dr. Wang. Then she removed the charge from my bill. I asked her to explain to me what the difference was between a normal eye appointment and a retina exam. She told me, "Most insurance companies don't cover the retina exam but it is a really good exam". I said, " It does seem like a good exam, but if you know most insurance companies don't cover this, it is your responsibility to ask me if I want this exam at an extra cost. Because you know what insurance I have and anything you do during the appointment is presumably covered under my health insurance. How am I suppose to know the difference between a regular eye exam and a "special" eye exam?" She was very apathetic and all she had to say to me was it was a good exam and I should have gotten it. That is fine and maybe I really did need that extra retina exam (machine takes a picture of inside your retina) - but it is the responsibility of the office manager or the doctor to explain what the extra exam is, what the extra charges are, and getting my consent before performing it. I was going to order my contacts through Dr. Wang because he seemed very nice and the price of the private label contacts seemed somewhat reasonable. However, not explaining those costs to me upfront and the lack of apology makes me not want to ever go back. read more

This is an excellent optometry establishment. Dr. Wang was thorough but efficient. They did not try to up sell me on anything I didn't want. I was looking for my first pair of sunglasses and the assistant was very helpful in finding a pair that would fit me the best. I really like going to this independent optometrist because it wasn't as chaotic as the chain stores. Great experience!! read more

This place is phenomenal Dr Wang and his staff are incredibly attentive. Easy to book appointments, lovely selection of glasses and great customer service I look forward to this appointment annually! read more

I found this close to my work and they took my insurance! (Davis Vision). Dr. Wang was able to get me in right away and was overly helpful in finding me the right prescription and order contacts that came in within a day. He even gave me a spare pair in case. This was an easy and quick exam and I highly recommend him and his team! Thank you! read more

I am so glad we found Dr. Wang for my daughter's CRT prescription! After a thorough evaluation, Dr. Wang explained the pros and cons to us so we could make an informed decision. Once we decided to go that route, he patiently taught my then 8 year old to put on and take off the lenses on her own, and took all the time needed to make sure the lenses fit well. In the 8 months that my daughter's had CRT, Dr. Wang has always been accessible and very supportive. Not only was his pricing reasonable, the care he provided has been top notch. We are very happy with the outcome and highly recommend Dr. Wang. read more

I literally just finished my eye exam with Dr. Wang and had such a great experience! I had a Groupon and called yesterday for an appointment for today and luckily they had some available! Dr. Wang was so professional, and efficient that I'm actually surprised I'm done already. But in a good way! I'm used to optometrists taking their sweet time and pushing off a lot of the tests to their assistants who have no idea what they're doing. I wish I had vision coverage in my insurance plan so I could continue to see Dr. Wang. read more

I went to Designer Eyes about 6 months ago desperately needing new glasses and not a lot to spend. They were very helpful and allowed me to try on every frame, help make suggestions, and gave me a price I couldn't be. I've had my glasses for 6 months and I don't have scratch proof lenses yet, no scratches. Glasses are extremely comfortable. They even stayed open 30 minutes after hours to ensure I was taken care of. Thank you for an amazing experience read more

My eye exam went as smoothly and quickly as I could have hoped. Dr. Wang is very efficient but not at all rushed, and made me feel comfortable with his easygoing manner and openness with answering my questions. I got prescriptions for glasses and contacts here. Dr. Wang helped me order new contacts and didn't try to push a purchase on me when I decided to get new glasses elsewhere. A great experience all in all. The office is clean and well-lit, and has a welcoming atmosphere. The selection of glasses frames in the lobby is somewhat small and all high-end, luxury brands. While I didn't find any that suited me, if you're looking for designer frames, this is the place. read more

Dr. Wang is my favorite eye doctor I've been to so far! He is very nice & welcoming! The exam was thorough and didn't take too long and I never had to wait! I ran out of contacts and they were able to fit me in for a same day appointment! They also gave me contacts to take home so I wouldn't be left without some while I ordered! Go here for your contact lens fitting! I'll be back! :) read more

My initial appointment a year ago was wonderful, and I'm about to have my first recheck. With lifelong complicated vision, at age 76 I am near-sighted, have an astigmatism and some strabismus (abnormal eye alignment). Despite all this, Dr. Wang, in San Diego, gave me my first frame-less, ultra-lightweight eyeglasses with very "accurate vision-correction." They're the most comfortable and attractive glasses I have ever had. Dr Wang reminds me of an ophthalmologist due to his vast knowledge base. He took the time to thoroughly assess my complicated vision, to answer all my questions, and ultimately provide me with clearest vision I've had in decades. In fact, as I write this, I don't even feel these glasses on my face -- even though they're correcting serious nearsightedness and astigmatism. read more

Absolutely fantastic! Dr. Wang was able to answer all of our questions regarding eye health issues, as well all what glasses design would be best to fit my face. This place has everything I asked for. Dr. Wang is patient and nice. He always try the best to make things work for me, time-wise and material-wise. I spent an hour picking the frame I want, they were so patient to go through the best options with me. Also, for renewing prescription or restocking contact lenses, just one call / email, they get them ready for me. I highly recommended this place. read more

My 2 years old broken my glasses. I only have one pair glasses, so I had to wear my contacts for 12 hours straight between when I wake up and until I head to bed. My eyes become dry and red during the day. The glasses I ordered were delayed and Dr. Wang concerned with my well being gave me a temporary eye glasses, on the night of Christmas eve!!! He is a very caring and patient doctor, I greatly appreciate it! Merry Christmas! read more

Dr Wang is great! I had several questions about my vision which were all answered. The eye exam is thorough and affordable. I had seen two optometrists at the Shiley eye center and still didn't know what was wrong with me. Dr Wang was able to tell me in 30 minutes. I will be getting my glasses with him as well since the selection of styles is good. read more

Overall great experience. It was my first time getting an eye exam. I had purchased a Groupon, went in with an appointment and was seen right away. The exam took about 30 minutes. No one was pushy as far as trying to sell me on a pair of glasses. I was given my space to browse around. I did end up purchasing a pair. I asked the doctor if he could adjust my sunglasses and he kindly did for free. read more

I bought two pairs of glasses here and couldn't be happier with either of them. It was very difficult to find someone who sold Kate Spade frames in my network (VSP) but I got lucky and found this place. Even though they didn't have the exact frames I wanted in store, they were able to get the ones I wanted (with prescription lenses) in just 4 days! The staff is very helpful and friendly. I felt they were honest with me about what upgrades were worth the extra money and which ones I could do without. read more

What a wonderful experience! The office was nice, clean, and very professional. They had a great deal through group on so I gave them a try. Dr. Wang made me feel comfortable and made the experience enjoyable. He told me what I needed which was exactly what I expected. He made suggestions and showed me the glasses that were covered by my group on vs the others that were more expensive. I feel very grateful for the experience I had. Thank you! read more

Have the new class for over one month already. Very comfort. I wear glasses for over 30 years. This is one of the best glasses I ever have.

Really good customer service by the doctor and the lady helping him. You aren't being forced to purchase any additional items. Was able toget an appointment within an hour. Highly recommended and will come back in the future!!! read more
