Had an amazing experience today just walking in. Our family was in the area for dinner and stopped by on whim to explore potential options for children's glasses. The location is joyfully designed to welcome you in and the ladies we met representing the business could not have been kinder. They provided top notch communication and service to us ... even though we literally walked in off the street. I think we had the fortune of meeting Ms. Paige (optometrist) who went through her inventory to try and help us identify solutions for a child with a growing head and asian nose (read: big head, no nose bridge, baby cheeks). She gave me a lot of helpful information, presented solutions from her inventory (pulling out eyeglass samples from on the floor and in the back!), and helped to appease some frustrations I brought. (Specifically, it is VERY hard to find good glasses for kids and to understand your options.) I truly appreciated her professionalism and support. We left with helpful advice and options toward a solution. She went the extra mile to confirm our insurance and budgeting options. I would definitely recommend this business to help better understand your eyeglass and optometry needs. We may be back to purchase the eyeglass from her and become her next patients! read more

Just wanted to let everyone know that if you have Medi-Cal VSP insurance to NOT get your glasses from this location. They do the prescription exam and then tell you they don't carry the glasses that are covered by the insurance. They offer you glasses for like $150+ and act like it's a great deal when the glasses that would be covered by the insurance are FREE. I took the prescription and went somewhere else. When I received the glasses (from a different place) I wore them for 2+ weeks and realized the prescription was wrong. I asked spotlight optometry if I could get my prescription redone and they told me because I went to a different place to get my glasses that I'd have to pay a 50$ fee to redo my test. To me that's ridiculous. I only went somewhere else to get my glasses because they don't carry the kind offered by my insurance. Why accept the insurance to do the test and then not accept the insurance to make the glasses? Seems kind of like a scam to me. I'm not going to pay 50$ to redo a test because if they didn't get it right the first time why would I trust them to get it right again? I'd be wasting 50$ when I could just go somewhere else and get the prescription done right. read more

I've been going to Spotlight Optometry for over two years now and have nothing but positive words. The front desk always made me feel welcomed...even if I showed up considerably late to an appointment due to traffic once. Staff helped me with understanding my insurance and went out of their way to help with friendly reminders on my appointments. The doctor is super informative and patient. She listened to all my questions and explained everything thoroughly. Superb quality care and customer service! As I enter the office, I was greeted very politely by Tina and Dr. Chain. Dr. Chain made sure that I was comfortable and offered me beverages, as I waited to have my exam. Dr. Chain was very thorough with her exam, while offering gentle care at every step of the way. She stated that my eye health was in good shape. She recommended me eye drops to help supplement my natural tears and keep my eyes comfortable throughout the day. Had a great first visit/experience. The office is super clean, high tech, and everyone was very friendly. The doctor broke down everything for me to understand, utilized equipment I've never seen before (and I've been seeing optometrists for a LONG time), and I was in and out quick. I would say one thing I noted was how clean, new, and comfortable I felt in the space. Very airy and light. Overall, highly recommend. The office is nice and the exams are thorough. The issue is that it becomes more of a sales push and that comes directly from the doctor that makes it feel uncomfortable- starts with pushing eye drops and continues to the glasses frames. There were no reasonable frames that were covered by our plan which is not shocking but these were hundreds more. The doctor herself does this sales process explaining the fancy metals and imports from Europe. The lenses themselves exceed the highest range of any plan and any additional such as antiglare etc are excessively more here. Mind you i could easily afford this, but on principal just felt it was strange to have the actual Dr be a bit pushy. When i said i would just take the prescription and get them made elsewhere the energy shifted and the friendly faded. I also brought my husband and daughter for appointments too so you would think 3 new patients would have been satisfactory to any newer office. One of my prescriptions was also prescribed incorrectly. To get that fixed had to schedule weeks out for a correction which should have been expedited due to doctors error. read more

They checked me in for my eye exam, offered me a beverage and I was promptly taken back for my exam by Dr Paige Chain. She had the newest technology and made me feel very comfortable. The shop is so beautiful and modern on the inside. The seating area was nice and cozy. They have a large selection of frames and sunglasses. They helped me pick out a pair of glasses that would work well with my very strong prescription and I never felt like I was being upsold or pushed into something I might not need. What a wonderful experience at Spotlight Optometry! I was due for an annual eye exam. I came across Dr. Paige Chain and Spotlight Optometry through my vision insurance. They are a new location in North County San Diego - Carmel Valley. I was so impressed by my visit! Making the appointment was so easy through their online booking system. The optical shop is beautiful and very clean. The front desk staff were so pleasant and welcoming. They were so helpful to make sure everything was set up and costs were explained with regards to my vision insurance. I then had my appointment with Dr. Chain. She was lovely and clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about taking care of patients. She had the newest technology and the examination room was very clean. She explained everything thoroughly and did a comprehensive exam along with contact lens fitting. I will definitely coming back to Dr. Chain and her staff for my annual eye exams. Their prices for contacts were reasonable and on par compared with other popular website distributors. I did not need new glasses but would definitely come back for their selection and to see their pricing. They did not try to up sell anything and at all times everyone was so kind and professional. I booked an eye exam for my family of 4 on the same morning. Dr Chain was great accommodating my family with two young kiddos. Her clinic is very clean, hip, professional, and aesthetically pleasing. I've been wearing prescription glasses for over 25 years and this is the best Optometry practice I've ever been to. It was easy to schedule an appointment in the website. The space is conveniently located close to the 56 and in a plaza with lots of parking. Dr. Chain listened to all my concerns and answered all of my questions patiently and thoroughly during my exam. The storefront is very welcoming and has a good variety of frames to choose from.
