This was my to go to eye doctor before I moved to Murrieta and they always got my prescription right. I went to 2-3 different eye doctors in Murrieta and Temecula and they couldn't seem to get it right. Eyes seem blurried and couldn't see close anymore. After 3 years, even though it's about an hour away, I went back and I can see properly again! Worth the drive. Things are clear again, I can see up close, and they actually listen to my complaints to correct it. Highly recommend. read more

I cannot speak highly enough about Excel EyeCare. I have probably had my glasses adjusted by most of the technicians at this point because I've been going in almost every day for 2 to 3 weeks. The adjustments are tricky because my lenses are heavier because they're glass and we have to work around hearing aids as well. But the one I can speak about most highly is Gaby. The receptionists know me now and the minute I walk in the door they say, "Oh Gaby will be right with you." I always ask for her by name because she is always so upbeat and patient with me. I know my glass adjustments are difficult, but she is cheerful and makes me feel like each time is the first time. read more

We visited Excel Eyecare Optometry this past summer and had an overall excellent experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff was friendly, organized, and efficient. My family and I were in and out much faster than expected, and our glasses arrived within two weeks, which was a nice surprise. The fitting process was smooth and stress-free, and they made sure everything was comfortable before we left. What really stood out was how well they treated my little one -- the woman helping her took the time to teach her how to use her new glasses, adjust them properly, and make sure she felt confident wearing them. That level of patience and care goes a long way. If I had to give a precise rating, I'd say the experience felt like a 4.7 star visit -- but since Yelp doesn't do decimals, I'm rounding up to a solid 5 stars. They truly earned it. Highly recommend! read more

Went to order progressive lenses for my frames and had a wonderful experience. Kay helped me with great customer service.

After some yelping, I finally came across this optometry office and had great reviews so I figured let's try it out. I was immediately met by someone who was helping someone else but she made sure I was checked in and had all the paperwork first. At first look, the office looked organized, clean and had excellent lighting which is important. I was immediately brought back and an assistant went through all the pre procedure tests and then I was met by Dr. Duong and she was amazing. She quickly got to the exam and was very helpful in explaining the whole process and findings in a very clear manner. She was very attentive, personable and thorough. I highly recommend seeing her. Once the exam was finished, I took at a look at the frame section which included a lot of top brands including Nike, Gucci, Lacoste, ray ban and many more. The only negative thing would be that I was not really assisted in the process of choosing which frame or which frame may be good with my particular face structure. I was just advised to take a look around and let them know if I had questions. The staff did provide good feedback on the questions I asked but it would have been nice to have them assist a little more. Overall I would definitely recommend Excel and highly recommend Dr. Duong. read more

I am a new patient here and everyone was very nice! Scheduling was very easy and fast, as well as everyone I spoke to was informative. Dr. Gan is so sweet and very easy to talk to. It honestly didn't even feel like an eye appointment, haha. One moment she's asking me which number is better and the next thing you know we were finished. I did have some change in my prescription for both glasses and contacts. I was able to walk around and look for some frames to try on. Harmony is a girls girl. She didn't mind me talking her ear off while I tried a few on. I'm glad this place is close to home! Thank you Excel Eyecare Optometry & Team! read more

My optician Kay was excellent to work with. She was incredibly patient and walked me through all of my lens choices in great detail. She even suggested frames they didn't have in stock because she thought they'd be a better fit for me. I really appreciated that she focused on finding the right pair instead of just selling what was on the shelf. She kept everything moving, made sure my glasses arrived before my trip, and was communicative throughout the process. When I went in to pick up my glasses, I saw that she was very patiently serving another customer who needed a lot of assistance -- all with a smile. I look forward to working with Kay again the next time I'm in. read more

I am a new client at this optometry. Luckily I was able to book a Saturday on the Friday before. It was a very good first experience. Although it was busy, as it was a Saturday, the front desk representatives held it together and were patient and communicative. Dr. Gan completed my contact fitting. If you have good vision and just need an eye exam or you know you'll be taking your prescription elsewhere this place isn't a bad choice. However, I got my glasses through the office and waited 2 months to receive them. I was met with excuses that the lab had messed up - whether that was true or not I think with there should've been more accountability. If I was someone who really needed those glasses, I'd HATE to live life for 2 months without my glasses. I've seen other reviews where it takes a very long time to get the glasses so if this is an issue the office has, it seems like perhaps they should choose a different lab to work with or put out a disclaimer when ordering. If the office had said that the glasses would be ready in 2 months instead of 3 weeks I would've felt that it was normal to wait my 2 months, instead of being worried about what happened and expecting them. read more

The front desk is attentive and they call you in on time for your appt. The optometrist was also wonderful. However I would say the iffy part which I'm still processing how I feel is the payment part at the end. I was told I would be emailed my receipt but never got it..I know it could be a simple mistake but usually, businesses are on top of providing receipts especially after you order contacts. Now that it is e-everything, it is a little bizarre to me. I'll have to call in to follow up. Update- they apologized and immediately emailed me the receipt. Update again- I was told at payment that it was "possible" that my purchase of an annual supply of contacts could qualify for a Manufacturers rebate (but I have to directly search and apply myself via their website. The staff did disclaim that it wasn't guaranteed. However, just based on a possibility, I tried to apply and apparently, it is based on if the provider participated in the rewards program..so, if they didn't participate as of last year, why tell me about this at all? Very odd, but thanks for disclaiming? Knocking it back down to 4 stars cuz of the overall experience combined. read more

Great service and great prices for glasses! I look forward to getting an eye exam here in the future.

So glad to find an optometrist close to me! Everything from setting up an appointment to my eye exam was super easy and went smoothly. When I called to make an appointment as a new patient, their staff was friendly and quick with information they needed and scheduling my appointment. Usually, I expect to have long waits at doctor appointments but this clinic is quick and straight to the point! Love that it saves me time without feeling rushed and sloppy. They offer retinal eye imaging at a low cost which I appreciated since my insurance doesn't cover that. I saw Dr. Wernow and she was super kind, thorough and knowledgeable when I asked questions. The staff was friendly in person and efficient with the different tests required for me to do my contact lens fitting. I got to wear a pair of contacts home to try out and can call back to order them if I like them. For those looking to get glasses, they have an entire selection and multiple staff members that were helping patients with glasses fitting! read more

I have been wearing CRT corrective lenses for almost 10 years. I recently got an eye infection related to wearing contact lenses and was advised that I stop wearing them immediately. A different optometrist was concerned that I had worn the night contact lenses for so long and had me switch to glasses right away. At the last appointment I had here, I was told that I would be able to wear the contact lenses for the foreseeable future. During appointments, I was always taken in later than my scheduled time and felt rushed while talking to the doctor. Additionally, during and after COVID-19, the office used the excuse of preventing the spread of COVID to avoid providing contact lens cleaning services. read more

I don't normally leave reviews on places I've been to but for this one I feel I should express my experience. First time coming here and I am thankful for Dr. Wernow for being great at her job and has the patience to make sure I understand everything. Sylvia and Summer thank you as well for helping me out today. Sylvia is so informative and detailed. I felt very comfortable talking to her and what I don't understand, she made sure that I do. Summer, thank you for suggesting the glasses with a clip on. I would've taken a while in there if you didn't come by with it! Honestly, the energy I felt towards these people are so calming that I didn't felt pressured or rush at all, so I'd like to come back again next time for my next eye check up. read more

Usually, at other facilities, my eye appointment and experiences are fine and I never expect much. However, after going to Excel for the first time, I can honestly say this was the best eye experience ever. As soon as I walked in, my check in and initial testing was smooth. Dr. Wernow was friendly and efficient. Also, shoutout to Summer who assessed my face frame perfectly and helped me find the perfect glasses. I'll be back! And recommend Excel to all my friends! read more

Dr Gan was great. We both had a very good experience seeing her for the first time and definitely plan to go back. Summer, who helped me with selecting frames and setting me up to get my glasses was amazing. Really the best. She's helpful, friendly, and very knowledgeable when we had questions. The ladies in the office were also very nice during the initial intake of our info and getting basic tests done. Great optometrist office. read more

I have been coming here for a few years and all the staff and doctors have been really nice and professional (and are diligent about following COVID-19 precautions). They informed me my contact lenses qualified as medically necessary due to my high prescription so I didn't have to pay as much as usual (which no other eye doctor ever told me about). They are also helpful and patient in helping me choose new glasses, and their prices are very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this eye clinic. read more

We've been coming here for 2 years now. Great staff and superb service. I do like their frame collection better than most places. Andy was so wonderful. Make sure to ask for him. He's amazing! He helped us from beginning to end- processed our insurance paperwork while we browsed and consulted us on all the frames and provided such professional yet cheeringly personal advice. My husband and I were iffy about our glasses all year and didn't seem to like anything anywhere. Andy helped us pick out the perfect pair and was so kind and helpful, I felt like we didn't walk in expecting this level of service seeing how busy they were. Thank you Andy. Great doctor. Exam and report were done efficiently. All employees care to make sure glasses fit properly.

My two daughters have been seen by Dr. Gan for over 5 years with CRT prescription. Always on top of everything, already referral to all my friends. This week my younger daughter had one eye pain and swallowing because of BBQ ash. The family doctor cannot get hold of ophthalmologist on the same day. Dr. Gan helped us out and get this done on the same day. So thankful for everything. Love all the experiences here. read more

I've tried a few optometrists in San Diego and so glad I came across this one! The staff was so very nice and accommodating, my appointment was right on time without waiting, Dr. Howard was so kind and thorough, the prices were very reasonable and they had a great selection! Dr Gao and team are great! They are very professional and explains each and every step of the way. The glasses selection is great (ranging from high end designer frames to relatively inexpensive ones), particularly if you are looking for low bridge glasses (Asian fit). The only thing that is a pain is parking in the plaza because there's a very popular 24 hr fitness close by. So make sure you allocate time appropriately before your appt. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Gan's for almost 10 years now and I always have the most pleasant experience with her practice. Dr. Gan is personable, knowledgeable and genuinely cares about you and your well being. She's open and honest about answering questions and doesn't try to sell you on anything you don't actually need. The office staff is always pleasant as well. Friendly faces every time I walk in, as a handful of staff have been there for a while. In person or over the phone I always have my questions thoroughly answered and/or explained and requests for information are fulfilled almost immediately. They also don't try and sell you anything you don't need. They're very knowledgeable on their products and give honest recommendations. I always get new frames every 2 years and I'm NEVER disappointed by their selection. My insurance is rather good so I usually get a high end brand and their selection is fantastic. I've gotten Marc Jacobs, Valentino and Tiffany's from there. More recently their Ray Ban selections are always the most current styles, for both reading frames and sunglasses. The pair I got last year have been the best frames I've gotten so far. I get stopped frequently asking where I got them and I'm always pleased to direct them to this office and practice. I'm glad I found them and I'm never going to leave this office and practice. Picture is of the Ray Bans I walked away with today. Clear frames with nose guard. Loving this style right now. read more

Dr. Gan and her team was amazing! I was greeted with a warm welcome at the door by Shilah and checked in at the front desk by Jennefer. Once entered I had my temperature taken, which is respectable due to these pandemic times. Vivian took me back first to do some testing to see how my eyes were doing. All of her staff wear coats and masks which easy my worries. Even witness everyone sanitize their hands. When I went in for my eye appointment Dr. Gan was very detailed and caring about my eye prescription. Afterwards, I got some time to speak with Daisy and Jason to pick out new frames for my eye glasses. They informed me that all of their frames have been sanitized on the wall and even if I touch a frame they asked me to place it in a tray so they can sanitize the frame again, which is much appreciated. No COVID today. They have a wide variety of frames from Nike to Tiffany's. I totally recommend Dr. Gan and her team because of how caring and personal they are. 5 stars all the way! read more

Dr. Gan and her team of Jennifers were so awesome! Jen 1 helped me feel immediately welcome and warm. Jen 2 answered my insurance questions confidently and efficiently. The best part was Dr. Gan for sure. It is obvious she is extremely experienced and genuinely cares for people. She is honest about her recommendations and not pushy at all. She and her team have gone the extra mile to keep people safe during COVID-19 with a smile and a skip in their step! I felt safe as they wore extra PPE even though they have been vaccinated. They also disinfected thoroughly (I used to work for a surgery center, so I am very conscious of that). read more

I'm not the best patient since I had radial keratotomy surgery and Lasik years later and now have borderline cataract in one eye. Because these conditions deteriorated my eyesight, working at my computer all day was getting unbearable and discerning which letters I could see better during Dr. Gann's exam was difficult. As a result, although there was considerable improvement with my new prescription, I was not seeing as well as I would have liked. Over the course of a few weeks, Angie and John worked with me trying different solutions such as high index-type of lenses. Eventually Dr. Gann re-examined me and with the new lenses and a different prescription, badda bing badda boom, I can now see really well. Angie and John spent considerable time with me and not once did they make me feel like I was an imposition on them. On the contrary, I felt like they really wanted me to be a satisfied patient and would do what it takes to make that happen. I'm very busy and don't do many Yelp reviews but I feel they all deserve to be recognized for their outstanding service. Thank you Excel. read more
