My appointment for eye exam was Dec 2, 2025. The Doctor was late but seemed to do a good job. The salesperson measured me but had trouble with the computer and said I didn't have to wait. I knew my insurance would pay. Three weeks later, I called and they claimed no glasses were ordered! That's funny because my insurance had already sent an Explanation of Benefits and a Claim ID. I have run into issues through every step of the process working with this Target optical over the past six months. I recognize sometimes things can go wrong and I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. However, after moving away from the area, I've now called five times in an attempt to simply have them send me my prescription so I could re-order contacts. The first three resulted in "ok, we'll send it" with no response. The fourth time appeared more helpful when she found that I was in the Doctor's computer system with my prescription, not the front office (not sure why they're different systems but that's a separate issue...). Still no response or sent information at that time. When I called a fifth time they once again said they'd send the piece of paper to me at my new location, with still no results. When I made my initial appointment I ended up having to wait 30 minutes to be seen. When I finally received my contacts after they were delivered three weeks later than I was told and I had to follow-up with the office to find out they were delivered. They also switched numbers on my prescription and had to send them back out again. read more

I had a couple of issues even though Dr. Adas and the assistants were lovely. 1) I should have been asked if I wanted retinal imaging. It really seemed like it was part of the included exam and if I hadn't asked at that moment, it would have been a real surprise to find a $40 extra charge in addition to the exam. That did not leave a good taste. $40 can be a lot to many people that they may or may not be able to afford. 2) the 50% off frames apparently can't be used with benefits. I looked at the signs several times over, it doesn't say that anywhere. Consumers should be informed of full restrictions on promotions. 3) I tried using a promotion through my insurance Eyemed for $0 out of pocket frames (normally $130 limit). It explicitly says I can use it with my lens benefits. I was told that I could not purchase plastic lenses with that promotion, despite it not saying that in the fine print. The assistant reached out to managers to confirm that it couldn't be used with plastic lenses, but no one could point out to me any written guidance or limitation on it. I showed the full promotion detail to the assistant, and she confirmed there was no limitation written there. Again, consumers should be informed of full restrictions on promotions. 4) less of an issue, but it seems like I was taxed twice? The way that the system works has the initial calculated tax listed as a Misc. charge instead of tax, so for some reason I couldn't pay the tax with my FSA, but then there was a second line where tax was calculated and charged again. This could be my misunderstanding, but I think the way the register is setup is creating more charges there than there should be for the patient. Overall, I made the decision to go to Target Optical based on a promotion that was offered, and felt misled by it. I might have gone somewhere else if they actually were upfront about their restrictions. I ended up using a different promotion, but was not able to get the frames I actually wanted and ended up paying full price for a different frame (promotion was for an upgraded type of lens). I have a mild prescription that I only "need" while on the computer and driving, so I wasn't looking to pay $150 for a pair of glasses. read more

I would recommend that you go for an eye test at a welding shop rather than this place. Arrived five minutes late for an appointment last week (my bad) and they wouldn't see me (fair enough). Asked could they checked my benefits which they did and told me what I would pay for my next appointment which I booked for a week later. Arrive ten mins early today. Told that I will have to wait. Filled out the forms and after waiting for an hour was told that they could not find my benefits and appointment was cancelled. What made it worse was that I asked last week could I sort out all the paperwork to make the next appointment as seamless as possible. Nope. They don't keep paperwork on file. As a professional procrastinator, I let myself run dangerously low on contact lenses. I needed a place to just run in and out, no hassles. As per the recommendation of a certain Yelping elite bf of mine (so helpful those elitists are!) I made an appointment at Target Optical. I stepped in from the awful rain, only to encounter the comedy team of Brandon and Rhea. Wet and cranky, I heard someone singing the chicken dance song. My mood quickly flipped as the comical back and forth banter between the two optical techs kept me thoroughly entertained. Between discussing the deliciousness of McDonald's to how "nobody messed with Bugs Bunny", this pair successfully juggled work and fun, and easily turned my sour mood around with their upbeat antics. Cheers to them! After my initial exam with the darling Rhea, I stepped in to see Dr. Diana Ranjbar. Ok fellas, not only is this chick a knockout and a half, she has a lovely personality to match. Ask for her! She got me through my exam quickly and was very sweet. The best part about Target Optical is that they have several of the more common prescriptions and brands of lenses on site. My brand and prescription happened to fall in this category, so I was able to leave with my boxes of lenses, instead of waiting for the order. Very convenient! After handing in my two weeks notice at Target, I was itching to use my 10% discount before it was gone. I've been wanting new glasses but I needed a new prescription, so I headed over to the Elston location's Optical after work on a Saturday afternoon and asked if they had any open appointment spots. I figured they wouldn't, and I should have called ahead, but voila, they did! If you happen to work for Target, here's the breakdown of discounts: you get $5 off the exam (which, without insurance, is normally $45, or $65 with pupil dilation) and you can use your 10% discount on frames and lenses. You can't pay for the exam with a Target Red Card, but you can pay for frames and lenses with it, so that's an extra 5% off. Also, they had a 50% off sale on all lenses until the end of March. Altogether, I saved almost $200. Pretty awesome. Despite it being a Saturday afternoon, they were able to start the eye tests right away. Everyone was really nice, and the exam went quickly and smoothly. My favorite part was that the ladies let me derp around trying on glasses for half an hour after the exam was over. Every other time I've gotten glasses, I've had sales associates follow me around the store and watch me try on different frames while putting pressure on me to buy. I'm picky about the things that are going to be sticking off of my face all day, and that method of salesmanship makes me feel rushed and uncomfortable. I think the ladies here got that I'm a slow shopper, so they pointed out some frames I might like and let me be. The selection here isn't the best ever, but they have some great Ray Bans, DKNY, Mossimo, Vogue, Lucky, Converse, etc. I asked the ladies' opinions a few times, and they were honest, which I appreciated. I wouldn't say anything stellar about this place except that they sometimes do have really good specials on eyeglasses (if you don't mind wearing blue frames). I do like the optometrist - Dr. Garcia is very good at what she does. My previous optometrist evidently gave me a prescription that was way too strong - Dr. Garcia worked to provide me with the correct prescription. The only other thing I'd say is that I think the front desk staff are a little pushy in trying to get me to buy more than what I could afford - they seemed a little annoyed that I could only buy 2 boxes of contacts at a time and not the yearly supply. read more

I decided to go here for a few reasons. One, it's easily accessible with a doctor and glasses all in a Target and two, I generally like Target so it seemed like a good fit. Oh and the eye exam for glasses is CHEAP. I went on a Sunday and everything was fine. I wasn't crazy about the selection but they had some nice glasses for women but again I wasn't super impressed by the selection. After waiting a little while for them to get set up I was able to start the exam. The 'tech' was very nice... he did make a comment about old equipment which is never a good sign. I was scheduled to see Dr. Magdalena Adas, but got another doctor (I assume she was a doctor). And everything went fine. I did decide to purchase a pair of glasses from them and they sent me on my way with a little red envelope. I got a phone call about a week later saying they were in and went to pick them up. I may be a little critical at this point because in the end I'm unhappy with the service. The glasses don't seem 'sturdy' and typically I've purchased some generic brands from Lens Crafters or Pearl Vision and have been happy with the final product (for years). These don't seem well made. They also really don't fit very well... not sure what the difference is from the pair that I tried on off the shelf. I plan on returning in the next few days if I still do not feel satisfied. The woman who gave me the glasses was nice enough but informed me that I have astigmatism. Which, no big deal... but shouldn't your doctor inform you of that not a target sales associate? And shouldn't your doctor talk to you about what it is and how it's corrected (maybe i'm just being critical but this is the first time I was informed of this)? When I think back on the day of the eye exam it did seem like she was just ready to get out of there, although she was very nice. And as I look back at all my paperwork (to see if there was anything recorded) I have no written prescription or 'diagnosis' only a receipt with my expensive frames and lenses. Came here for the first time today after making a last minute appointment. Overall experience was fine. My appointment was with Dr. Strickler-she was really nice and answered any questions I had. I needed an exam because I haven't had one in the past two years and also needed new contacts. Dr. Strickler was able to give me some samples to hold me over until my new order came in. If you have a Target Red Card, you can use it to get the discount on contacts but not the exam. read more

Waaay.....annoyed. Pushy. Completely wrong about what my insurance covered...It was one of those annoying customer "service" moments where you want to yell and scream and throttle. They currently do not have a manager at this location and it is VERY obvious. It is a disorganized mess and should be shut down. I would avoid this place at all costs. There are way too many other options to waste your time and money here. Upon ordering my contacts, the lady forgot her password to get into the cash register so I couldn't order. The next two days, I was placed on 10+ minute holds just trying to place my order with them. I now have waited a month for my contacts to come in and was told repeatedly there is a "glitch in the system". I eventually had to cancel my order. I will never be going back. read more

I've been wearing the same pair of contacts since October and have had the same glasses since 2003 so I figured that it was probably time to make an appointment. I called on a Saturday morning and was able to get an appointment that same day. Which was great because my eyes have been hurting for awhile now. On a side note, stay away from this place on Saturdays because the traffic is crazy. I was within a block of Target for probably 25 minutes just trying to get into the parking lot. Dr. Ross is the man. Great guy, makes you feel comfortable, and explains everything really well too. The Sales people out front were helpful too. They were patient with me as I sat there looking at all of the glasses. I am the worst at making decisions like that so it took me awhile to pick the frames I wanted (I knew I should have brought my wife to help pick a pair). Keep in mind that their selection for women is about 3-4 times larger than for men. It's a good thing too because I would have been their all night. I also got a great discount for being with AAA. I will be going back for sure...probably in 2-3 years when my eyes start to hurt again. read more

Dr. Adas is the friendliest, most knowledgeable, caring eye doctor I've ever seen. She makes the chore of going to the eye doctor into a great experience. She always takes the time to get to know you and followed up to make sure I liked the new contacts brand I switched to a year ago. Her staff was great as well. I talked to Simon in the morning to confirm my appointment and when I arrived he remembered talking to me and was very helpful throughout the process. When I decided to order contacts through somewhere else because of price, he wasn't pushy and instead was understanding and kept up his almost extraordinarily positive attitude. Odessa (I hope this is right?) was very friendly and mastered the new machine that takes photos of the back of your eyes (avoiding dilation, awesome!). Overall, I had a great experience and I'll keep coming back. P.S. There was a young girl in at the same time as me who was brand new to contacts (I remember those days, it was awful). It is what it is folks! Obviously, if you have major eye problems, go to a (real) doctor's office for care. But if you're like me- early thirties, prescription has never changed, etc., this office is very helpful. They've always worked around my insurance to make sure I'm getting the most bang for my buck, and my husband and I have been happy for both contacts and eye glass purchases. I'm getting ready to head out of town and my last contact ripped. I just called them and they set aside a couple boxes of lenses for me to pick up. Quick, friendly service. read more

The staff was very nice and helpful...a little unprofessional, but I think they see that as outgoing. I though the exam itself was very accurate and the doc was thorough in her explanation. She even gave me several trail pair of contacts...who doesn't love freebies. For service and the exam itself, I would give four stars. Three stars for the overall outcome. My glasses took a little over two weeks to come, maybe because I waited until the end of Dec. I actually never received a call that they were in, I just finally went there after a few weeks. The selection is very limited and the most of the frames look similar and area typically a trending style (I don't do trends). I thought it was a bit pricey. My insurance was discount plan, they took off 100 and added extra discounts, despite my glasses still came to be almost 300 a pair. The ladies were very helpful and patient while I selected frames. I shop at Target regularly so why not get an eye exam here. The staff is very friendly. The 2 ladies that work the desk are on top of it. The prices are affordable. Fortunately, I have health insurance which brought the cost down. Also, I brought my own frames with me so I didn't have to buy theirs. The reason I only give 3 stars is because I'm still waiting for my glasses. It's been 2 weeks today and still no frames. It's a good thing I have back-up glasses. My husband & I were in Target Friday and decided to stop by the optical department to see if our frames were ready. The friendly lady that works there said, "they've been mailed". Okay. Dr. Ross certainly lives up to his Yelp! reviews. He's a very kind, friendly doctor and I felt at ease with him immediately. He asked good questions about my family history, my eye health history, my job, and generally about me. He explained everything he was doing and it was quick and painless. The sales staff up front were also quite helpful. Patrick was really nice and very patient with me during the pre-exam testing. I'm terribly skittish when it comes to the eye pressure test (that little "air puff" test) and he was patient and understanding, which helped to calm me and get it over with faster. They helped me pick out a nice pair of frames and walked me through all the pricing and everything. Although they did try to upsell me on some sunglasses and fancier lenses, they weren't pushy at all. It's their job to try to push their product, and once I said "No, thanks" politely, they didn't try again. I had such a great experience here. I have new vision insurance and they had some deals that were specific to Target Optical. I made an appointment online. The associates here were so friendly and I had a wonderful chat with the optometrist assistant. Some of the equipment wasn't working properly but she was able to get everything fixed. My appointment was with Dr. Strickler and she was very thorough in explaining my eye health and test results. I printed off all of the deals from my vision insurance and I'm glad I did because it saved me a lot of money. I got a new pair of glasses and sunglasses for $200 and they arrived in 9 days. I used to go to a local neighborhood optometrist and one pair of glasses with insurance were about $300. I definitely will return to Target Optical. Make sure you have the promo code if you are redeeming any vision insurance deals in store. They said they will honor as many coupons as you have, but it has to have the promo code for them to enter into the system. My vision insurance is through Eye Med and the promo codes were numerical and started with the number 7. I was able to combine several coupons to bring the cost down significantly. read more

The Saturday appointment gave me a little anxiety since it's a mad house here on Saturday's and the optical department wasn't immune to that but a Friday 5:15 appointment was a breeze. My eyesight has been strong and I have not had my recurring issues in over 4 years. She is friendly, thorough, and informative. Received a call letting me know I had an appointment for my son. Call the morning of the appointment to confirm he is on the schedule and left a voicemail before 10am. Arrive at 3pm to be told since I did not call to confirm they did not keep the appointment. The automated voicemail that was left did not say this would happen and I have never had it happen before with a confirmation call. When we had an exam last year it was good enough that we were willing to come back but it seems like things have gone down hill over the last year. The staff was not what it used to be. One of the workers couldn't be identified as an employee based in the tank top and stretch pants she was wearing and could not help resolve my concerns. We will not be back. read more

They did their best to accommodate me during my appt despite being terribly busy. Though it is evident that they cannot keep up with their customer load. At the end of my appointment I was first handed a prescription card that was for a completely different patient. Then when I was finally given the correct one my last name was completely misspelled. Fine, I can handle that. Then when I called today to try and order contacts I gave them my information, first my correctly spelled last name and then the misspelling that is on the back of my prescription card and they could not find me in the system at all despite several attempts at truncating both my first and last name in the search. They couldn't even find me by skipping my name altogether and doing a phone number search. For a doctor's office this is COMPLETELY unacceptable. I will not be returning. read more
