Dr. changed since my last visit there and I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Brandi this time. She's the sweetest and most professional Dr. I've ever met. The first Dr. to ever address some of my long term eye concerns and after listening to them, she was able to properly diagnose me. I have myopia which I wear contacts/glasses for but always noticed my eyes slightly cross sometimes specially in pictures. She added a prism correction to my glasses prescription to help with this issue. It's a shame eye health/concerns is not taken as serious as if our eyesight wasn't how we literally perceive life/the world. So thank you for making a difference Dr. Brandi! read more

BEWARE! These guys try to pull the wool over your eyes and charge you more money than necessary. Rep. called Martin has no customer service skills and makes it difficult doing business. TLDR: highly unprofessional, will not return, and would not recommend. I'm super disappointed in my experience at Pearle Vision. The waiting area was packed, and there was no where to sit. I was not greeted or oriented to who was checking me in. I arrived 5 minutes early for my appointment, but it wasn't until 30 minutes after my appointment time that I was called back. Once I sat down in the exam room, the doctor *literally* told me that he was going to rush my visit and "'move quickly" with me because he was running behind. There seems to be no electronic medical record, and despite my asking, I left without an emailed or paper copy of my prescription. I was told it be be emailed "later." You'd be surprised how useless ppl are on the phone due to lack of effort but she has restored my faith in humanity. I went to Pearle because it was time for my annual, my insurance is accepted here, and it is close to my home. I am giving this place 3 stars bc the Optometrist is nice. He seems overworked, busy but he is polite and efficient which I appreciate. The front staff gets 1 STAR. It really is hit or miss, so you better hope who ever helps you that moment is having a nice day. You either have one of three young personnel. There is one gentleman that walks and talks super slow but he is nice and explains your options thoroughly. One young gentleman that talks super fast and cannot understand what he is saying because he really does not want to talk to any customers in the first place and is eager to get off the phone with you. Or one young lady that is down right rude, who says my new glasses need some breaking in period so it may hurt my temple a bit. And that is natural. Um no! I have worn glasses for over 30 yrs and they may need getting used to the prescription but the frame should not hurt. That is your job as the fitter to help adjust once the new glasses are in. When I asked for a copy of my contacts, she rudely said "I missed a contact adjustment appt so I will need to make another one if I want my prescription" I didn't even know I had an appointment! Many of the other reviews comment on the same vibe, so I guess I am not experiencing anything new. I hope the manager or owner reads these comments and does something about it bc its so disturbing. I understand it is hard working with the general public BUT getting glasses/ contacts is costly and is important for anyone that needs them to see. I understand that it's Covid, but this was truly awful. Very rude staff, especially the gentleman who works in the front. All glasses are kept in plastic baggies, because of the pandemic, and I felt like I was being a pain by trying something n too many pairs. The woman helping me actually told me that it was annoying to have to disinfect them. I picked a pair, and was told it would be about a week. After almost two weeks of waiting, I called, and the rude guy that works there told me that they had been there for over a week, and they had reached out on the 16th. I checked voicemail, email, text & missed calls. Nothing, but we can give the benefit of the doubt, I guess. But, you only (supposedly,) called once, and then just gave up? When I went to pick up the glasses, I again had to deal with the rude guy, who BROUGHT MY GLASSES OUTSIDE TO ME, had me put the on, said they "looked ok," and to bring them back, if I had any problems. (For the record, they are way too loose, and fall off of my face.) I truly cannot believe that a Pandemic merits that level of garbage service, especially any type of medical setting. read more

Vision Works - I've bought 12 - 15 pairs of glasses from their 2 stores @ Randolph & Canal over 10 years & every pair has been perfect since the moment of pick up. Drs. Popovic & Allen & their personnel are all great service providers. Every pair of glasses they've produced has been a perfect remedy for my vision problems from the moment I've placed them on my nose. Contrast that to my experience at Pearle Vision @ 845 N. Ashland (beware, I'm told they have a 2nd shop in Logan Sq.). They gave me a bent, twisted frame & temples, a lens prescription transposed from one side of the frame to the other which took 2 visits over 4 weeks to get them to discover & admit to. Multiple absurd comments from 3 different reps with every visit - "well - your eyes must have changed." In 2 to 4 weeks!? "Well - these did come from your insurance co." What did that even mean?! - I asked & got no reply as the barely coherent rep. stared into his computer screen, likely googling "potentially useful phrases for placing blame on the customer for bad product." "Well - try them out for 2 weeks & see if you get used to them" Mgr. Steven told me. Anybody out there have 2 to 6 weeks to experience thoroughly distorted vision & be unable to work or drive safely after spending hundreds on glasses & numerous visits to the provider asking them to remedy their product? Not me! Steve, in perfect mute mode like his other reps., had no reply to my statement that 2 weeks of my time with impaired vision would be a considerable loss & impossible expense to me. Who does that; who ignores their customers stated concerns? Pearle Vision does. If any reader here has weeks to flush, if you've got time, money & patience galore to burn head to Pearle Vision. If you want a super pleasant experience & always reliable product JUST GO TO VISION WORKS! On at least 2 of my visits the Optician appeared from her office & observed my consternation with the flustered reps, during which she & I exchanged pleasantries. She's a very nice lady, I like her a lot. She never once inquired as to what the problem was nor if she could assist in any way. In what universe is the eldest, most experienced, most highly educated, likely only licensed individual not responsible to assist with a problematic product & a dissatisfied customer? None I've ever been to in my 61 years on the planet. Very special business model/hierarchy there @ Pearle Vision, 845 N. Ashland Ave. I have never been able to see without serious spacial distortion through Pearle Vision's lens & bent, asymmetrical frame. Hundreds of $, numerous hours over many visits down the toilet - they really didn't care, wouldn't accept responsibility for their lousy craftsmanship nor did they have any genuine regard for the customer's expressed opinion of their product - on the occasion that their product was absolute crap. I felt super uncomfortable the first time I went in to get my eyes looked at because the man working at the front desk kept looking at me and asking too many personal questions like about my move to another state, when I'll be coming back, etc. Another crappy thing was that I had to go in twice to pickup my glasses because of a mess up on their part with no apology and rude comments instead. So we went into our local pearl vision, from the jump thoroughly impressed with the staff. Our first interaction was with Steve (store manager), he is extremely helpful, personable, and knowledgeable. Honestly made our experience effortless. Initially we were there to find glasses for my husband. I had gone to another location (old town also had a fabulous staff) and purchased glasses for myself just a day previous. While looking I found a pair at this location I liked far more. Steve walked me through how to handle my situation. When coming back to purchase my new specks we interacted with Kim, also easy to speak to, informative, and professional. We can't say enough positive things about the staff. I don't have insurance that covers eye exams, so for the past 5 years or more I've been ordering cheap contact lenses from China and they've been working perfectly fine. But unfortunately for the last several years my glasses have been held together by tape. I finally broke down and decided to find some place that I could get an exam, glasses and contacts, and that wouldn't be a problem working with someone without insurance. Pearl was great. I was able to schedule an exam very easily over the phone. The exam itself was very quick. The doctor was very nice and professional. I was able to get new contacts and the friendly staff was awesome in hooking me up with new frames. I went on a Saturday and had my contacts and glasses the following Wednesday (may have even been faster but it was Labor Day weekend). At the end of the day I spent a little over $500 on glasses, six months worth of contacts and the exam. I'll probably stick with ordering contacts on the internet, but will definitely come back if I need another exam or break my glasses again. read more

This one in Ashland tried to rip me off. The ear piece of my Polo glasses broke off. The guy didn't even suggest fixing it. Instead my only option was to get new glasses because getting a replacement piece would cost $200. But I shouldn't worry that they don't accept my insurance because they will get me a deal. I instead went to the pearl vision on division. They were able to order me a new part for $70 and with the money left over and my insurance I got a box of contacts. Skip this place as go someplace more focused on meeting your need vs selling product. read more

Hard to believe that I've been wearing my blue specs for 2 years! Seems like just yday I was in contacts, then suddenly, had to get glasses. I was way overdue for my yearly eye exam, which I took care of today, with Dr. Golie. Once again, my experience was fantastic. I was running late and Dr. Golie still got me in. She gave me a thorough exam and spoke to me about how I've been and my dry eye condition. She told me to continue pushing my Omega 3, 6 & 9 fish oils, to improve the condition, as well as some other good advice. As expressed in the past, I greatly appreciate how Dr. Golie is knowledgeable about natural treatments vs only offering harsh meds for treatment. I think a good combination of both can be highly beneficial for all, especially because what we put into our bodies, can show up on the outside. I'm now testing out the new 'Air Optix' contacts. Hope they work and I can get back to wearing them vs just glasses!! Once again, Dr. Golie comes highly recommended and the staff is always very helpful as well!! read more

Six Words: Rude employees, they'll try to overcharge I don't like Pearle Vision at all. They are price gouging jokes. I went in for a prescripton because I needed new contacts and left angry because I was swindled. This was my first time there and I get into the doctor's office and she does the preliminary check of my eyes. Good. Then it comes time for prescription. Now this doctor did not know me at all. This is my first time there and I have no records with any Pearle Visions. Logical procedure would be for her to ask about my contact lens history - ask if I had a brand preference. Nope, she started writing a prescription for a brand that irriates my eyes to the point that the 2-week lens barely last a day. I had to convince her to switch the prescription by bringing out the box of my usual brand. I got her to write that prescription, but she muttered under her breath the whole time about how Accuve was better and blah blah blah. Not a good impression of an eye doctor. Probably should've expected it when she came into the appointment looking like she was going out to get groceries and not at all dressed professionally. Finally get a prescritpion and I go to settle my account and I get stuck with the worst guy ever. He wasn't wearing a nametag but I wish he was so I could file a complaint with corporate. He was the rudest man I've ever met. Talked to me like a used car salesman trying to sell me a lemon. Then to make matters worse they refused to let my appointment be covered entirely by insurance. Apparently, getting a re-up on a contact prescription isn't a thing here. Nope, every contact lens appointment is a "Fit and Try" appointment which isn't entirely covered. Fun. To make matters worse, part of that "Fit and Try" appointment is that you get to walk out with a trial pair of lenses. Only they weren't going to let me get them. I had to make a fuss to get a trial pair of the brand I normally go for. Spent almost $50 on a 2-week trial pair of lenses which is RIDICULOUS considering I just ordered a year's worth of lenses online for $100. I understand the cost if you're trying various brands, but if I know what works with my eyes (Ive tried about 4 brands) then just give me an eye appointment. You literally did nothing to me that was contact lens specfific. They try so hard to swindle you out of your money, It took 3 asks to get a written prescription and they didn't even give me (or measure) my pupillary distance. So I'm going to have to figure that out when I order glasses online because the selection in shop is expensive and horrible for my face. On top of it all, I had to deal with the stupid bill-paying without being given time to put my lenses back in. It was appointment and then bam, pay up. So I had to deal with the man trying to steal my money through a technicality without being able to see the screen he was showing me. Like, hello. I came here with corrective lenses on, I sorta need to put them back on. I came here because they were supposedly covered entirely by my insurance. Not coming again. Not going to any Pearle Vision again. read more

I would not go back to this place again. I had my contact exam here, the doctor gave me a try out pair knowing it wouldn't not fit me. Then when I went back for the correct size, the reception just ordered me the right size and counted the visit as a follow up when I never even saw the doctor. They charged me two co-pay as well, when at other Pearle Visions, I only paid 1 co-pay. read more

Great Pearle Vision center! Dr. Golie is meticulous and thourough. She has a visible presence in the store; you know how some stores the optometrist is like the "man behind the curtain" and doesn't even seem to know the people who work out on the main floor? Not here. Dr. Golie was actually the first person I ran into with my broken glasses hanging off of my face. I was in a pissy mood and was quite abrupt with her, yet she was still friendly and helpful and had someone glue my glasses back together. It was a temporary fix she warned me, and I thought everyone was so helpful that I ended up scheduling an appointment for an exam and ordered my glasses and contacts through them. They have a decent selection of name brand frames, and if you don't find anything you like in the store, you can go online and they will have the frames sent to the store so that you don't have to commit to buying a pair before seeing them on your face. read more

When I arrived at the store at 11 am, the door was locked. I was let in shortly after, and greeted at the front desk with "Appointment?" No "hi there, how are you doing?" "What can we do for you today" etc... just "Appointment?" I filled out a form of info that I could have easily provided online. Then saw the optician. I have recently moved from the United Kingdom, and require a prescription from a US optician to purchase contact lenses. I told the optician I had had a contact lens test and vision exam in December 2018 (less than 3 months ago) and I had those records with me. The optician then gave me a sight test. After this was concluded, I returned to the front desk where I was told this would cost be $77.15. I was shocked, at no point had anyone told me how much any of this would cost. I expected I would have to pay the $10 co-pay amount for a vision test and no more. The front desk attendant said: "Oh. Someone should have told you how much this would be." Yes - I agree, they really should have done. No price transparancy. Rude staff. Poor experience. read more

The staff here, including those at the reception desk, are tremendous. They are friendly, efficient, personable and accommodating. I went in for an eye examine to get a new prescription, plus just to get my oculars checked out and they could not have been more helpful. I don't have insurance, they discounted my visit as much as they could. Dr. Golie saw me on time and took, what I thought was, a generous amount of her time explaining the health of my eyes to me, etc. etc. She worked quickly and deliberately, but never rushed and made sure my questions were answered and I left satisfied. She gave me a trial pair of lenses and scheduled a free follow up for the next week. Overall: An incredibly well run business with a terrific doctor. read more

This was my first REAL eye exam ever. Despite having an eye exam every year for the last 4 years, none of the docs ever managed to give me the right prescription. The strongest thing I ever got was reading glasses. When Dr. Golie (who is awesome, by the way) suggested dilation, i was skeptical, but I figured she knows what she's doing. Turns out, I needed BIFOCALS!!! Dr. Golie explained that without dilation, my eyes naturally compensated for each other, but with dilation, she was able to get a true reading on my vision. Anyway, if you're looking for an eye doctor, you have to meet Dr. Golie. She's young, smart and thorough. And the techs that work there are really great too. read more

To be fair, I did not see the doctor that works this Pearle Vision but I am writing this review solely based on their selection of eyewear. This was the first stop on my sunglasses shopping EXTRAVAGANZA and found the selection to be pretty terrible. They had two display cases for sunglasses, and they were all Oakleys and most of them men's. The lady greeted me as soon as I walked in and was very friendly but the small quantity of frames they had available soured the place for me. read more

Steve and Lori May were both so helpful and patient with me. They took the time to explain everything and let me ask as many annoying questions as I needed to. Steve was super helpful and transparent about explaining payment structure and took the time to run through several different scenarios with me to make sure I was making the most of my insurance coverage and figuring out the best solution for what I was looking for. Lori May also was great during the glasses selection process and wasn't annoyed (at least visibly :) ) when I took 20 minutes to look through frames and eventually decided on the same pair I already had. My family and I have been going here for 5 years. Yes, it is in Westtown, so, well, that's the neighborhood. The staff is wonderful - they always help me pick out great glasses - and are universally kind to my not-always-cooperative-child-now-turned-surly-preteen. Dr. Golie Rashandel is wonderful and the other optometrists I've seen there from time to time have been great, too. Yes, any time you buy contacts from the store they are more expensive than a service like 1-800-CONTACTS. It's one of their revenue streams. If the price difference isn't worth the convenience just ask for your prescription and have it filled elsewhere. read more

It's an "ok" place, and i don't intend to go back there.The receptionist wasn't very friendly, but he wasn't rude as well... I just like to feel welcomed to new environments and i didn't feel like that. The doctor who did my exam was pretty professional and i liked her.The only thing I would say i did not like was the fact that there were fees which i wasn't informed about. They offered me to try contact lenses and i didn't really like them. I told them i would only buy the glasses. I wasn't informed that there was a fee to try the contact lenses, ever. so when i went to pick my glasses two days later, the receptionist told me that the other receptionist didn't charge me for the "contact lenses exame" - Literally, me sitting on a chair trying to put the lenses on myself without success". Well, yeah, I spent like $500 in eye exam, a pair of glasses and $40 bucks just for trying the contact lenses ( without being informed about the fee). Don't know if my money was worth it. read more

I had an excellent experience with a man named Steve who works here. He stayed with me the whole time and gave me great advice on glasses that for my face shape in a flattering way and helped me match a pair to a photo of the glasses I was looking to replace. He was patient and very knowledgable about eyewear. He never pressured me to upgrade my lenses to anti-glare after I told him I was already a little over my budget with what I'd selected. He also made sure I'd get my glasses with a one day turn around since I was without a pair. (I left mine on a bus.) read more

Hm, I remember seeing another review up here when I was looking for glasses. It described a place in a neighborhood that was 'total sketch' but with an amazing optometrist and staff that helped her pick out really unique glasses. I resented the 'total sketch' comment, as I lived a few blocks from the place and found the neighborhood quite to my liking. But at any rate, I decided to try the place out, and found everything else was exactly as she described it! The staff were extremely helpful, I never felt rushed and they patiently answered all my questions about how and to what extent my insurance plan would cover my purchase. They even went through several scenarios to save me the most money! I love when they do that! In fact, when a place doesn't do that, I don't go back. I hate picking out glasses. I feel like I'm committing myself to a tattoo on my face that I won't be able to remove for a year or longer. I always ended up with glasses that I liked, but didn't quite fit me too well. The staff here took a look at my face, and grabbed 5 pairs of the shelves that looked awesome - complementing my face shape and hair color. I thought it was weird at first, but it worked out great! The staff patiently helped me pick them out, let me try them on after I tried on contacts to that I could actually see myself in the mirror, and I ended up with a really awesome and unique pair that I love. Random people comment on my glasses all the time! I never received a comment on the pair Lens-Shafters screwed me over with. Payment was easy, the frames were cheap, follow-up on the contacts was fast, and it was overall the best experience I've had shopping for glasses. read more

So I went here in November 2010, and the experience was bizarre but I didn't Yelp about it then (because who has time to Yelp about every bizarre experience you have?!), I simply went elsewhere for my eye care needs. Flash-forward to 2014, when I end up having the day off and am down to my last pair of contacts, the folks at Perle were able to fit me in right away for a last minute appointment. The optometrist, who introduced himself by first name, was very efficient, helpful and knowledgeable. Since I've been wearing contacts nearly 66% of my life, I knew what brand of contacts I wanted and the optometrist was very respectful and definitely didn't try to steer me down another path. When I was done, the owner of the franchise greeted me to take care of my order and he was very friendly and considerate. The only bummer is that my boxes of contacts would have cost nearly twice as much had I ordered them from Pearle versus ordering on-line. [Google your brand of contacts before you go to your appointment, friends!] While I cannot justify the cost of ordering contacts through Pearle, I definitely will be back next year for another contact prescription. read more

I was really hoping this place would be better than it was. It's easy for me to get to and easy to park. I don't want to say they are incompetent because some of the staff members are incredibly competent. I think there's a problem with store policy perhaps. I'm a problem patient, I have dry eyes and it's difficult to find contacts. They carry very few brands and work with even fewer. The doctors seem to want to prescribe the most expensive ones (for me, DAILY!! acuvues) and when you ask for another option they are really at a loss. I finally found one I liked, but had to suggest the brand and do the research myself. On top of everything, a contact I can get for $18/box online was FIFTY!!! dollars in the store. Save yourself the trouble and find a different Pearle. read more

This place sucks! I took a friend of the family there who was on public aid for glass covered by Medicaid. We went in there and due to restrictions the glasses were to be picked up in 10 weeks, which is fine. But a month after the due date I went in to inquire since he had not received a call or letter stating that they were in. They were there a full 4 weeks after they had received them. I asked why there was no call or letter and they had no valid answer except that if they needed the glasses then they should have bought a pair. Nice option for those on Medicaid I told them, since they have no money to start with. I immediately cancelled my yearly checkup. I don't need to give these a-holes any money. I don't feel it's right that some people should be treated differently than others due to financial status. I will never ever go back there again. Stay far, far away. read more

After having serious vision problems as a kid I neglected to have my eyes checked between middle school and adulthood. Now that i have insurance I decided to get my eyes checked. Yelpers helped me find this Pearl Vision a block from my house. going on looks alone I would never have gone in this place, the outside is a little shabby, but once inside the staff was very friendly and helpful. I called for an appointment assuming it would be a few weeks out, and the receptionist said there was a cancellation and I could get in that day. The Optometrist is really where this place shines. Dr. Golie Roshandal was amazing. She helped me to understand the vision problems I have had my whole life, and gave me glasses that I probably should have had forever. The next day she called me and said she had just left a seminar on neural ophthalmology which made her concerned about some of the things I had told her so she referred my for an MRI. I never new you were supposed to be able to read the street signs when you were driving, but now I can!!! read more
