If you love Target, this place will give you the feels, but don't expect your standard big box locations and amenities! This is a very scaled down, city center Target that is as condensed as it can get. They still seem to offer majority of the items you'd need in a pinch, but at lesser variety. While they have many of the same sections, they tend to all blend together due to the size. Again, nothing wrong with that, just setting expectations for folks expecting the full Target experience! They only offer small carts, which are my favorite, and majority of their checkouts are self service. Service was ok, we were greeted by the security guard and wished well by a cashier. Overall, this Target is perfect for small trips or grabbing things to hold you over. Also works if you need to get your Target fix in. Good location downtown, happily swing through again when in the area. read more

Dropped in for a quick tweeter and USB-C charger search, wow didn't think we would need saving up for two common items! The price gouging is astonishing. Even for downtown Chicago the produce prices blew me out of the water. Unable to see the appeal of most products here priced higher for same stuff compared to Walmart and much higher than Aldi, no consolation with store brands except on a couple random items, Good & Gather is a great treat for the thick wallet. This location is a scaled-down version with pretty much everything you need in the spare moment. The isles are short and narrow which makes it a bit difficult to navigate when it's busy. They do carry limited fruits and vegetables in addition to meat products. The shelves are not fully stocked when I visited. The store itself is clean otherwise. Ran in here after brunch at Pinstripe to pick up another bottle of bubbles for our night viewing of the boats passing by. Didn't explore the entire store, but have to say I am not a big fan of these tiny Target's but this one will get a 3 star rating because they had bubbles that I needed. I will definitely keep this place in mind for bubbles if we are staying at The Sable and I need extra ones. I could see what other reviewers were talking about, the space was tight. Smaller target walking distance to Navy Pier. You can find all basic stuff here. Also has a Starbucks inside with enough seating space. They are open late and keep all things neat. They have an ATM inside and wide variety of alcohol and OTC medicines. One of the things I love most about Target is their customer service. I'm not a fan of the ramp to get in. Feels very restrictive access, one way in and out. Often times with shipment boxes lining the ramp, people hanging out. If there is a larger crowd at top of hill, it may feel disconcerting. Otherwise, it has mostly everything I want. Large men's graphic tees, pharmacy section. Women's tee section is non existent. Toy section is small. I really enjoyed the "Get it before it's gone rack", saw some deep discounts there. The liquor section was separated and actually quite large. I'm sure all sections had lots of thought on the traffic that typically comes through there, so what is present or not probably reflects he majority. read more

On our way back from Navy Pier, I wanted to stop by to get some hairspray for an updo for a wedding we were to attend. As you walk in, the checkers are to your left. To your right, there's a Starbucks. This is the smallest Target I've ever been in but it's easy to find things you're looking for. The cosmetics are is very limited compared to the Target stores in California. Some brands don't even exist in this store. They had a large selection of sample/travel size. I got the hairspray and paid at self serve. The Starbucks was very nice. The large windows overlooking the river made it look very bright. The staff were friendly and welcoming. It was such a nice environment that we sat and drank our coffee by a window. read more

Cons - 1 girl at the Target Starbucks is extremely rude and undertrained. She is the larger brunette girl with a blonde ponytail. She is very nice to Caucasian customers and extremely rude to minorities. - I come here almost daily, and it is EXTREMELY uncomfortable to watch her do this to others in line. I have seen her accuse minorities of ordering the wrong drink, belittling them and telling them how to order (in one instance, she said to order the words differently), doesn't know Starbucks policy. Overall, she is extremely unhappy serving people of color. - Her behavior makes me so uncomfortable that I cannot condone that behavior or support this Target allowing their employees to behave like this. I will go to a different Starbucks that treats minorities better going forward. read more

Target Security at 401 East Illinois St. on Sunday Feb 4, 2024 at 6:15pm - After getting verbally and physically assaulted outside and then while entering the store a total of 4 times, by an unknown individual, security offered the bare minimum of help and assistance. While waiting for police to make a statement, could hear them saying that *I* was the perpetrator because I bumped into the individual who after started verbally and then physically attacking me as I tried to get away from her. They also tried to say that it looked like I kicked the individual attacking me (I absolutely did not), as I never even touched the "person". Location is very nice for me. I also like the fact that there is a Starbucks inside facing the canal with stunning huge glass windows. It is a bit small and can get very congested at times, but you can practically find anything that you are looking for your place. However, some of their stuff is on the pricey side, like their home pillows/bedding/lamps and small kitchen appliances. They do have better prices for the tooth paste than the Walgreens and I love the fact that they have booze and lots of sales in it. Definitely better pricing that the liquor store down the street. I give a 3 because the floor plan could have a better set up, and their staff could be a bit more animated and friendly with the customers. read more

It has an eclectic feel, the lighting is somewhat dim, but considering the age of the building that is in it is acceptable. The location is great very convenient. I bought two mens shirts there at a very reasonable price, excellent quality and very good selection. I read about the building that is in and it was built in 1905 and it's part of the fabric industry of Streeterville. It's small but considering you are in downtown Chicago, we are very lucky to have this store in our neighborhood. I do have to say that their home department area is a bit too pricey, you can find the sane things on Amazon for half the prize, so it's all about supply and demand. read more

This City Target is interesting. The layout is a bit weird and the ceilings feel low. The lighting feels dim. I do admit it doesn't feel like a Target. The Starbucks is awkwardly situated on the side of the Target, and it's right next to the snack section. It's a strange setup. I don't know why the snacks weren't paired with the rest of the food. I was circling around the food aisle wondering where the snacks were. The inventory here seems limited compared to other City Target stores. They do have self checkout which is nice. read more

I am a big fan of target and have spent many hours there purchasing all sorts of things. Unfortunately this target in Streeterville is much smaller than most and offers a very, very limited selection of food, clothing, and home goods. My partner and I have tried to use it for a quick runs, or late night needs, and unfortunately most of the time it does not seem to have the item we're looking for. Although, selection was very limited, the employee (whose name I do not recall) walked me right to the stand and explained every single game and its rules. Loss prevention is selective with customers when asking for a receipt. Remember a bag is optional but customer service is not. I understand if I am walking out of the store with a high ticket item however, my items included Aveeno shaving cream 4.69 Shaving razors 10.59 paper towels 7.49 a grand total of 25.10 I did call the customer service ( 800) 440- 0680 and reported the store manager Hector and the loss prevention Angelo. Basically, this Target is good for those "oh my god I used the last bit of toothpaste" moments but not for the "I have nothing better to do so let me wander around Target" moments. Its definitely nice for those who live nearby and have a last minute necessity. They sell some groceries, alcohol, snacks, home decor, electronics and drugstore items. I like that they do have a little bit a each and I can usually find what I am looking for here, although there have been times where they were out of stock of something I wanted. I also like that there is a CVS pharmacy counter inside as well as a Starbucks. Makes this place even more convenient. It is a bit small and feels a little claustrophobic, far from the large airy feel that you normally get when you walk into target. Their floor plan is a bit odd and a lot of times, I forget that the section with the drugstore items and electronics exists. The checkout line is always super long so I usually opt to go for the self checkout. The only caveat to that is sometimes, the self checkout encounters an error of some sort (for example, if you accidentally scanned something twice and need to void) and in those cases, you have to wait for the cashier to come and enter their code....which will basically take forever. read more

This target can be a painful experience at times. By no means is this a full blown target store, but definitely a Target Express even though no signs indicate it's an express store. Let's start with the CONs shall we... CONS -Very limited selection -Check out lines can be painful to wait thru. Mix of human operated cashiers and self check out cashiers. If you're looking to buy booze, you'll have to wait for a human operated check cashiers. Yet, somehow they always seem to be understaffed... -No loading dock thus they haul in merchandise through the front door. Once you make it into the store you'll typically find crates of merch stacked in main aisleways or blocking a shelf you're probably trying to get something from. -Always out of regular $1 eggs. Why must you always be out?! PROS -Pharmacy inside -Starbucks inside that serves beer & wine -Although small, they carry just about every essential everyday items you'll ever need -Free wifi throughout Even though the CONS seem to outweigh the PROS for me, gotta say I still end up coming through here out of convenience. Other options nearby include Walgreens, Whole Foods, Bockwinkles (last resort), and treasure island if you're willing to make the trek north a few blocks. Anyways, that's all I got on this one. This Target isn't bad for an express Target. For the most part, it has what you need and what you would expect it to have. However, almost every time I have been here there at least half of the self check outs are down and there are usually only about 1 or 2 cashiers.. so the line is always long and slow. Not only that, but almost all of my interaction with employees is pretty bad. Whenever I ask for help or assistance they have no idea where anything is or if they have that product, which isn't super helpful since I don't want to have to go through every single aisle to search and search. This store is a place we go to almost every day whether its for target itself or starbucks. Just some of the nicest people working here. It has enough things for the home to eat, clean, some sheets, towels, mirrors and a lamp here and there. Theres a pharmacy too just enough to have everything necessary. Will and Ebony have been amazing always. The nicest sweetest people to work with always have a smile on their faces. Always willing to help in any way they can. It's nice to have a good encounter with someone like them. They need a raise or a promotion. As far as costumer service goes Definitely managerial material and I say this having worked in costumer services for years as a manager and a director. read more

Good store for immediate purchases. Cashiers are very friendly and pleasant . But the store should not have associates stocking shelves during peak shopping hours. These shelf stockers hog the aisles with their carts, don't make way for shoppers, or even attempt to move their carts loaded with merchandise a little out of the way. A few days ago, one of these associates dropped a cardboard carton that almost landed on my head. Not only did he not apologize, he glared at me like it was my fault for being in that aisle. read more

YAY for Target, but this Target is TINY and everything is so close and if you're used to a "normal" Target, you'll be lost in the layout of this store. The store wasn't super bright like a standard Target and everything was pretty messy. Routinely out of the basics- when I first moved to Streeterville I needed trash bags and a broom, both out of stock. Later went in for cat litter one day and they carry only two brands, both out of stock. Yet another time I ran down here for eggs one evening, and they were out. This target is very convenient and I appreciate that they put a store in a difficult area like here. However I've just stopped going for anything other than toothpaste or toilet paper, and instead drive down to the regular target in the south loop area. However* the Starbucks inside is great and so is the alcohol section of the store. Well stocked lol. read more
