This is a large location on State Street that has an escalator and two levels. My daughter and I shop here when she needs things for her dorm or gifts. They have cute holiday decorations, some clothes, snacks, and knick knacks. We usually get phone cases, chargers and other accessories here as well as pet supplies and art supplies. This trip I bought a cute flower vase and some slippers and we got some matching holiday pajamas. (See pictures). They have so much cute stuff! While the name is Five Below everything seems to be $5.55 or more now. They may want to rethink their name. read more

Super value over here. There's a ton of stuff you wouldn't expect like electronics and phone adapters, wide selection of candy, dog toys, t shirts. Not all necessarily under $5 but super cheap and under cutting the competition. Like if you just lost your charger for your phone, you'll get a decent price lower than the department stores. Definitely worth a browse. read more

I love five below, but I hate this specific location. Once I needed my receipt because I didn't know if my item would fit my dog. The receipt printer was jammed and instead of just fixing it real quick he said he would remember my face instead. I actually ended up needing to return the item, but I never saw that employee again so I couldn't return it. Needless to say I only do email receipts now for this location. A different day I needed a basket, but there were none upstairs. Luckily I was buying a tote bag anyway, so I briefly used it for my items. When I paid for everything I was told I would've gotten in big trouble for doing that if security was watching. I mentioned there were no baskets left upstairs, but it didn't seem to matter. I've done this before in different chains of retail stores with no issue if I couldn't find a basket and I want to buy a bag anyway. No complaints from the staff either when I would unload to check out. This five below location is easy to stop at on my way home from work, but it's gotten so annoying shopping here. For the future I'm going to avoid this specific location. read more

Had been planning to stop inside the first time I saw it. A FIVE Below downtown, yes! With an upstairs. Chicago is amazing, a new store or restaurant is always popping up. I'm always ready to explore. So many items reminded me if my childhood; my favorite were the animal crackers. Not really a full box but for the price, its worth it. They are 4.99 @ other stores. I remember the can of Duff from the crazy cartoon my brother would watch. Then there was the elevator that I walked past twice. Looks like wall art. The ladies that helped me were amazing. Boycott this store. And send complaints about their required bag check policy to the 5 Below company on the website here https://support.fivebelow.com/hc/en-us/requests/new My mom and I often visit the 5 Below on State Street until our visit on Friday June 27th around 7pm. As soon as walked in we were stopped at the door by an employee yelling at us from behind the counter. All because my 70 year old mom was wearing a see through, netted backpack. He demanded that she check her backpack. This confused my mom who suffers from confusion and memory loss. She didn't feel safe checking her backpack that had her medication, cell phone, and a lot of other value items. Generally, netted, or clear backpacks are not required to be checked anyway as a matter of privacy since people can see valuables and personal items and because it provides proof that nothing was stolen since it would be seen. This is why my mom has a netted see-through backpack for our visits downtown so she doesn't have to check it. She has never been required to check it at any other store or museum, not even the art institute which is extremely strict. I didn't see any lockers so I assume that we were expected to leave the backpack behind the counter and trust the employees not to go through it or steal anything from it. This is amazing since I know that employees at this store are required to use clear backpacks and purses when at work in this store as a way to prevent employees from stealing. So, if the store doesn't trust employees not to steal, why should customers feel safe trusting employees not to steal out of their checked bags. There was no sign in the store window stating that bags had to be checked to enter warning of this new policy. It is generally required to post a sign, or at least it is the kind thing to do. Had there been a sign we never would have gone into the store. I said that we would leave and the employee nodded. As we turned to leave my mom notice some pennies on the floor and thought that maybe she had dropped them so I started to pick them up for her. As I did the employee started yelling at us again to check the backpack. We were right in front of the door, facing the door, not near any merchandise. There was no reason to start yelling at us again. This further confused and upset my mom. The employee continued to yell, harass us, and bully us out of the store. We have visited this store many times and have never been required to check bags or been yelled, bullied, and harassed by employees. We will never visit this store again. Not only did you lose a sale this time, but you lost a lot of sales because we always visit this store to buy something as a souvenir or things we need. We went to Target instead where my mom was allowed to keep her backpack with her we were treated with kindness and dignity; something we didn't receive at 5 Below. read more

What a fun store! A lot of things I didn't need but felt compelled to buy. Mainly came here during the holiday season for Christmas decor and small gifts for work but I was surprised at the selection of items. I saw yoga mats, free weights, clothing, items for the office. I wasn't expecting such a wide selection. The overall store had a fun, playful vibe and the staff acknowledged me right away; very friendly. Worth checking out! read more

Really great discounted prices you can find here. Got the knockoff version of "Guess Who?" To play with my girlfriend for $5. $5 for a few hours of entertainment is worth it. Store heavily markets their candy section and shirt section. Shirt section was a bit lacking with a lot of shirts sold out. Candy section is a bit too dangerous for me lol. read more

I am so tired of coming here to buy small things and everything doesn't come in the box. Made me pay $6 for some plastic....got a shelf and it had no hanging equipment or hooks that was suppose to come with it. Dude at the checkout pressing me to leave a good review on their survey when they don't even deserve it...im really over y'all. Y'all open the boxes and check because this is ridiculous!!! read more
