Beautiful shop in West Loop. It's clean, tidy, and bright which makes it fun to shop. They have a variety of stuff here: Hair clips, jewelry, pillows, fragrance, and so on. I was very surprised to see a section with baby items since it didn't strike me as that type of store. It's ample enough--I'd say almost a quarter of the store--with clothes, toys, books, accessories, and so on for baby. I took note of the beautiful coats they have because I'd like to come back in a year or so to get one for my daughter. Might have splurged on it now but she drools and spits up on everything, so hopefully by the time she's one and a half that will subside. They also had some headbands and I considered buying one but they didn't have any I liked for little ones (and to be honest, she's too little for one now anyway). But they had some adorable clothes, including some beautiful dresses, so I would love to stop here again. What they seem to do where they excel is in printed invitations/ announcements. I wish I had been able to get to Smitten before I had my baby (I tried a few times) because I would have ordered birth announcements from them. As it was, I couldn't seem to find any I liked (and thought it was superfluous since everyone texted me to find out about her) but seeing the beautiful papers and samples made me regret that. If I have a second, I might do it. Smitten is absolutely worth a stop. Parking is pretty tricky here--as I mentioned, I tried stopping here on a couple different trips to the West Loop before I was successful with parking. Such a cute store and perfect for buying gifts! They've got a fun selection of cards, books, winter hats, scarves, gloves, candles, jewelry, a large section for children's gifts, and so much more! My favorite is their plushies--they've got cute plush succulents, and peaches, pumpkins, lemons, etc. These plushies have cute little eyes, smiles, and feets--adults also can't resist them! If you're doing some holiday or birthday shopping, this is the place to go to shop and support local businesses. High quality goods that you can see the moment you walk through the doors. I spend quite a bit of time browsing, as there's so much to look at that I know my friends and family will love. Every corner of the store is clearly curated with love and care and attention to what customers would like. I've been here a couple times to buy presents and will definitely return. Each time I've received positive customer service and have been greeted with a friendly hello! Another plus--when you check out, they are more than happy to wrap your purchase for you. I normally don't review shops but this boutique is so cute and the people who work here are so awesome - I just had to! Last December, I was shopping around for the Snoop Dogg cookbook (From Crook to Cook) as a white elephant gift, and it was sold out everywhere (even online). In my search, I discovered this shop might have some in stock so I headed over to the west loop to check it out. They not only have books, but all kinds of curated goodies and gifts. If I lived nearby, I'd pop in all the time just because I had so much fun browsing! And the woman working was so friendly and helpful - not only did they have the cookbook, but they also wrapped it up very nicely for my gift exchange. What a fun little gift boutique! I came here looking for a bridal shower gift and left with a book that you fill out called "The Story of Us" and a ring cleaner. They gift wrapped it all and even provided a gift receipt, which I appreciated. It was a little expensive--$44 for the two, but I'm willing to shell out a little more cash to support a local business. They have a lot of cards, scarves, stuffed animals for kids, and fun little gifts, and they also print custom coasters and wedding invitations. What a nice do-it-all gift shop. read more

My husband and I recently moved to the west loop in December and we were so excited to explore our neighborhood and all the amazing small businesses around our neighborhood. When we came across this boutique we loved it and tried to come as often as we could (which was often) and buy as much as we could ( our family and friends bday presents). We love the idea of giving back to our own neighborhood and helping small businesses. But let me tell you I quickly realized my Latino husband and I (women of color) were not welcomed or appreciated here. We could clearly see how we were greeted/treated differently than their non-people of color customers . We were either completely ignored or were looked at funny like we were out of place or going to steal something. I mostly felt this from the two women working there. The older gentleman at least tried to hide his discomfort with us. I never write reviews but y'all need to do better! As such, I am never going back and I would suggest to check out the figs tree! This was just my experience with them.It may be that they treated us differently because of something else but either way please try to be more inclusive of all customers. read more

I called late in the day and spoke with Nicole who was incredibly helpful. She spent time with me discussing what to include, directed me to items online so I could see them and texted the final items to me to approve before submitting payment. I am in love with this store!! My fiance and I stopped in randomly one Saturday and I noticed that they did customized stationary. I was able to take a quick sneak peak at a few sample invitations and made an appointment to meet with Erin a few days later. I loved the time spent during our meeting and the ability to touch and feel the product before placing an order. The creative design process was such a breeze! We got our invitations today (ahead of schedule) and they are gorgeous! I wish I had a better experience with my wedding invitations at Smitten Boutique because Erin was so nice and in the end the invitations turned out looking great. Unfortunately, nothing seemed to go according to plan- Smitten seemed apologetic at the long delays and missed details but they were very nonchalant about the challenges we faced. It was extremely frustrating and a low point of wedding planning. Smitten chose Kleinfeld as the vendor to produce our custom wedding invitations. They have a 7-business day guaranteed turn-around time, yet my invitations took almost 20 days due to "acts of God" (i.e. the 1-day blizzard on the East Coast). They missed a few simple requests (i.e. I asked zip code to be next to city/state, yet the invitations were printed with zip code on a separate line) and took 1-2 days to respond to simple questions, thereby unnecessarily delaying the process even further. The entire process proved to be the most stressful part of wedding planning while it should have been fun and fairly simple. I've shared my experience with my closest friends who are getting married --- and I highly recommend that everyone use an online vendor instead of physical boutique (think Wedding Paper Divas, Minted, etc.). Ultimately, I think small boutiques and online companies use the same vendors, but the online companies have less overhead which translates into lower costs, are more efficient, don't miss details, and carry more weight in terms of ensuring vendors keep to the agreed upon schedule. read more

There is a nice selection of accessories, greeting cards, candles, babywear, and other various trinkets. Well, now that I finally gave this wee little baby her gift...I can write about it! I've been biting my Smitten tongue until I could give the gift...its been weeks. So, here I am. Now, you see...I had dined and worked with this little chick in utero (not me, her) for about 10.1 months. We have become quite close over these months, and I knew a lot about her before I even met her today...on her 1 month anniversary of entering the world! So, the occasion of course needed some extra special fluffy items. A stop into Smitten Boutique proved quite successful...and I emerged with one lovely poika dot blanky, and 3 "lovies." Now, granted I had no idea what lovies were (and if you are also unaware, they are basically blankets with stuffed animal heads), I just liked them because the 3 I got matched the brown, pink and green dots on the blanket. But hey, thanks Smitten...you made me look like I know wha'ts cool for babies. They even wrapped it tastefully in a crisp white bag and bright tissue paper and tied with a bow...far better than wrapping, and survived a few weeks in my car this way, too! Smitten has a wonderful, carefully-selected variety of wedding items (think stationary, table settings, gifts, inspiration) in addition to a small baby gift section, clothes, lots of beautiful frames, books....oh, and...you get the point. It's just a gifter's paradise. An absolutely beautiful store. Well organized and appealing to the eye. I have recently stumbled upon Smitten Boutique through a series of "Wedding 101" classes that they offer [for free!], which are centered around various topics pertaining to wedding planning. I have attended two of these events now, and both times have walked away with some very useful information, and in both cases some delicious cocktails and treats! Additionally, their store is absolutely adorable, and they carry an array of accessories for engagements, weddings, babies & stationery. The items I have purchased from there are high quality, and best of all they are unique, and are not run of the mill items that you'll find at stores all over Chicago. Lastly - Their staff are super friendly, which is always an added bonus. My only regret is that I didn't come across this boutique earlier on in my wedding planning process [they offer Save the Date & Invitation services, among many others], however I plan to continue being a regular patron of their store leading up to, and after my wedding this year. read more

Love this store! I also had a great experience ordering my invitations with Kara. She is so friendly and personable, and very helpful with the ordering process. I get so excited about paper products and wedding things, and there were sooo many choices, so she helped narrow the selection down. We ended up with exactly what we were looking for, modern, beautiful, eco-friendly invites for a reasonable price. And she is very willing to give tips and advice on other wedding things, which is really appreciated! The store is super cute too, lots of little specialty items. I worked with Kristin from Smitten Boutique for my Welcome Bags including the product selection, ordering and assembly. Kristin has created bags and packages that are absolutely daring! She also has amazing ideas on how to put the "look" of the bag together and a format for organizing the wordage of the paper products. Her process takes so much stress and anxiety out of the picture. I picked out a bag color and package, which included a CTA Card, Map, Candle, Mints, Crossword Puzzle Book, Water, Chips, Banana, Starbuck Coffee and a Red Eye. Kristin and her team assembled the daring bag and dropped it off to my hotel the day before my out of town guests arrived. The bags were a show shopper for my hotel guests! People were absolutely amazed and so was I! Kristin also helped me pick out bridesmaids tanks, soon to Be Mrs. Robe and a flower girl tank. I loved working with Kristin. She is professional, reliable, fun and sweet. Kristin has impeccable taste and style. She knows how to put a bride at ease while coordinating many of the important elements for her special day. They offered many ideas to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. They printed the invitations in a timely fashion and were great about emailing me the proofs right away to make sure there were no errors. SB is a cute lil' boutique that I would be stalking everyday if i were a bride, as they constantly have wedding "meetings" when I'm looking through stuff and also, because they have lots of jewelry and cards and stationery on display. Kyleigh made the process less stressful and really tried to get a feel for what the vision my fiancee and I had for our invitations. She was patient and vigilant and always responded promptly to the queries we sent her way. This place is so cute and I could drop a ton of money here. I came in for the first time while planning my own wedding and with a Groupon to use. I had my eye on these gorgeous Alexander & Co. custom posters that they sell here and now happily have one hanging over my mantle. I also ended up finding some other really great things-- I had spent the whole day running around the city with my MOH looking for a cute white umbrella in case it rained on my wedding day. We walked into Smitten and the first thing I spotted was a white umbrella with a wooden hook handle engraved with "Just Married." I also found beautiful guest book pens, thank you notes for my vendors, and great ideas for groom gifts. They carry adorable baby gifts too! read more

I found Smitten through Yelp and am so very thankful about it! From the moment you enter, Smitten provides a friendly, elegant atmosphere that makes the painful process of choosing wedding invitations extremely approachable. We wanted something unique and after spending the first couple of hours reviewing all the books, I felt completely overwhelmed by the choices...even if none of them felt like what I had in mind. Kirstin approached and told us she could make whatever we wanted a reality and would work with us on pricing. We came back and had a wonderful second appointment picking out all the details for our invitation. When we received the proof, Kirstin and I went back and forth about the design many, many times. She was absolutely wonderful to work with and emphasized that everything should be perfect regardless of how long it took. In the end, I absolutely LOVED our wedding invitations. They were perfect! We had also gone to Elizabeth Grace as a recommendation from our planner, but they were paled in comparison to the customer service and overall fantastic experience Kirstin provided. If I could give Smitten Boutique more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! I recently planned my wedding and decided to get acrylic invitations off of Etsy. While I loved the invitations, I quickly realized that I was going to have to get custom pockets for the invitations as well as insert cards. I called several places in Chicago and could not find a place that would help me with this custom order, until I contacted Smitten. When I inquired about my custom order I was connected with Erin Quinn who is a lifesaver and is incredibly good at what she does. Stationary is not something that I know a lot about and, quite frankly, I do not have an interest in. When I talked to Erin about what I was looking for, she came up with suggestions that were spot on and was able to give me advice based on her extensive experience. I was so impressed with her and with the quality of the insert cards, pockets, and envelopes they put together for me that I had to use them for my programs and my place cards. My expectations for all of these items were beyond exceeded. Another point that I have to mention is that there were two instances in particular in which I needed a rush order because our plans changed throughout my wedding planning. Erin was extremely responsive and did whatever she could to make sure that I got my deliverables on time. Stationary was an area of wedding planning that was extremely overwhelming to me and I was not looking forward to doing it. I ordered our wedding invitations from this store. Kara who helped us order the invitations was kind enough to leave the store open after hours since I get off work late and have to drive back downtown. At first, I was worried that they wouldn't be able to fit my budget because the store looks very upscale from the outside but Kara showed me the invitations that were only within my budget. After 30 minutes of looking thru things, we decided on this beautiful Float invitations. They were right on our budget and it fit our wedding style. Great store. I could see how some people would be put off by the store because it looks a little intimidating from outside looking in, and don't get me wrong they had quite a few items that were well over my budget. But it's fun to look around. I did go back for my bridesmaids' gifts, and the earrings I got for the girls were a hit. read more

Used tall empty vase; bought cards from smitten for guests to write messages on, then place them in the vase. Those messages meant so much to me vs a standard guest book. Great wedding accessories. I was immediately drawn to Smitten's store front; they always have the cutest display windows. The problem is that all I ever got to see for the longest time were the windows. Smitten has very limited hours, even when they say they should be open the closed sign is still up. If you are able to find time to make it there when they are open, they do have a cute selection of bridal and baby cards. There are no baby boutiques in the West Loop so I was hoping they would carry a lot, unfortunately they don't. The clothes aren't that exciting and definitely overpriced. Also, the hair bows aren't anything special. I keep looking in stores and boutiques for cute headbands, but it seems like Etsy is the only place to get them. I do like that they sell individual Aden and Anais blankets, those are always quick good baby gifts. Overall, the store is cute, and I am sure it is a great place if you are looking for wedding invitations. read more

Brand new to the West Loop neighborhood is Smitten boutique. I saw this adorable little shop on my way to Solo Salon and had to go in. This place almost makes me want to get married. The design is pristine, feminine and cute. Offering wedding party gifts, cards, picture frames, jewelry and accessories, the boutique has all the fun little details that can make a wedding go from great to fabulous. I really loved the picture frames, gift ideas for groomsmen and gift ideas for bridesmaids. The bridal earring selection was also pretty fabulous. At first I was going to try and do the invitation order myself, but realized how complex it all was.
