The team members here are extremely rude. I went in to pick up an online order ,and the team member assisting me was being rude. They messed up my order and I was being nice and understanding and she just kept giving me attitude. At the end I asked her nicely once she handed over my things if this is all if I need to sign anything ,and she said I'm a rude tone "yeah you can leave". After I was being patient and kind even tho they messed up my order they still decided to give me attitude. How sad ! read more

I love Target but this one is horrible. The aisles are horribly organized and it's super cramped. To make matters worth, they have nothing in here. I came in here looking for baby shampoo (to wash my makeup brushes! Nothing cleans it better), a loofa, and tissues. I only found the loofa. I asked an employee for help and he actually told me to go to the Walgreens across the street. Not kidding. Never coming in this Target again. It's smaller than a drug store and doesn't act like any Target I've ever been to. read more

I usually love Target, but even allowing for it's compact size, this store is disappointing. * Check out lines are usually very slow. Self-service kiosks are not a solution. * Check out staff is not welcoming or cheerful. Yelling "Next guest step up" is boorish. How about something like "May I help the next guest?" And an occasional smile would be nice. * They often run out of staples - milk, eggs, etc. over the weekend. They've been open long enough to get it right. * Can't return an item that's not sold at this store? Come on. * I've discussed this stuff with store manager, and area VP, but it never improves. * Its not at all up to Target's usual standards. Oh Target, I love you so much and I'm so happy you're in my neighborhood BUT I really think you can do a better job in your baby department. When this Target opened in October, the first section I checked out was their baby stuff. I thought that being in a residential neighborhood where there are a ton of babies and strollers everywhere, they would have a fairly extensive baby section. Unfortunately not so much. Boo. Otherwise their pharmacy, grocery, liquor, home goods sections are pretty well stocked. I still need to walk all the way down to State Street for the stuff I need for my little one. If they would only just provide a better selection (wider variety of baby food, snacks, eating utensils, bath toys, etc), I would increase my star count to five stars. read more

The grocery section is pretty limited. I live within a block so I shop here fairly often but it's just ok. I am a big fan of regular sized Target stores, just not this mini version. Target supports diversity so that is a plus to me. I would suggest cutting back the clothes section and focusing more on catering to area residents than tourists. From a business perspective, area residents would spend a lot more in here if the selection was better than tourists walking by to/from Navy Pier. Staff should work on being friendlier. Just meh. This Target seems poorly lighted, comparatively cramped, and heavy on merchandise for tourists (think: team apparel, 312beer, and Jays potato chips). I still miss the old Fox & Obel that previously occupied this space. The alcohol-serving Starbucks here seems to be the main attraction and is certainly worth checking out for its excellent river views and innovative concept. Wow, what used to be Baja Beach Club is now....."7-11 Target"!? Even used the same floors from the bar and some exposed brick; I knew it looked familiar. First problem, they have NO PARKING, just a very small "15 min Loading Zone" that was full with 4 cars that seemed parked there for hours? The store itself has like two aisles; small home section, some cleaning items and then some groceries I think best describes it. No selection of anything at all unless you are looking for a shower curtain liner & a pack of gum! The detergent I was looking for was nowhere to be found. +1 Star for the SELF Checkouts/ Cool Bags! This Target is... meh. Like another reviewer mentioned, it seems to be built more to accommodate tourists than the neighborhood residents. Based on the size of the store, they really should have made different decisions when planning on which departments to include. It has a *very* small selection of clothing for men and women, a decent cosmetics and drugstore section, and a few aisles of housewares. Grocery-wise, I'd estimate it has 50% - 75% what a normal Target has. This store's selection of snack foods and drinks (chips, pop, candy and liquor) is much bigger than their selection of basic groceries, which is frustrating. Things that seem weird/unnecessary for a store of this size: the section dedicated to Chicago sports t-shirts, the aisle of yoga supplies, and most of the electronics section. If someone is going to buy a cell phone, they're probably not going to waste time at a mini Target that probably doesn't have most phones in stock. Use that space for actual necessities! I also really wish that this Target carried a small selection of books and magazines, since there isn't a bookstore nearby. read more

Target has opened, in the old Fox and Obel space. It's not as fully stocked as a big suburban store, but it has a lot of what is needed in the neighborhood. Teething problems, like Self Checkout not taking cash and the Target staff not knowing it. But they all seem to have good attitudes. Good addition to the neighborhood. I'll review their Starbucks separately. Don't get excited about stopping there for an evening of wine. But the river view is fabulous. read more

I was in here today for the first time. The store itself is nicely laid out and the floor staff were very friendly and helpful. I also liked the mini shopping carts. I wish every Target store had them -- they're a lot easier to steer. When it came time to check-out, there was an issue with the self-checkout machine malfunctioning twice. The employee on registers who assisted us was not particularly friendly or helpful. It was a stressful and frustrating check-out experience, not so much because the register malfunctioned, but more because the employee was so curt with us. read more

I'd give 3 to 3.5 starts at most. I was pleasantly surprised by how much they had for a Target Express. Honestly I was expecting the usual grocery basics only. It does have other basic items like some clothes, home decor (e.g. pillows, wall mirrors) and a decent size electronics department. Basically, this store carries items for tourists and starter items for people who just moved to the city or neighborhood. If I'm in the area, it's been helpful to pickup things last minute like stocking stuffer gifts or even snacks for the movies (shh!). FYI - baking stuff is limited. Before the holidays, I forgot to pick up some cream cheese frosting on my last Mariano's run. I stopped by Target and found out they only carried chocolate and vanilla cake frosting. Came to this location just now and wanted to return something that was broken when I opened it. I thought the product was in the packaging it when I handed it to the cashier. She looked confused when she looked at it and asked the cashier next to her what she should do since the product was missing. I didn't know the product had fallen out. The cashier next to her kept saying I couldn't return it. At this point, my cashier 1) failed to tell me before consulting with her buddy that the product was missing and 2) couldn't then tell me I couldn't return it. She just stood there looking clueless. Her fellow cashier snickered that I tried to make a return without the product after I told the both of them I didn't realize the product wasn't in there. Well, I just realized now that I had the product in my bag the whole time. I'll pass on going back to this location to make the return. Small ,neat and tidy Target store in Streeterville. Came here to pick up some groceries and a shower rod on my way from the AMC theatre nearby . Really well laid out store . I work in retail so I know how hard it is to have everything in a small store . Found the shower rode and some medicines and the groceries . Bonus points: the restrooms was very very clean. Pretty nasty and ghetto target compared to where Target's standards usually are. It is a lot more cramped and not shopper-friendly. We needed to buy some baby wipes and immediately we walked in, we felt itchey and the need to get out. Lights were dimmed, poor lighting. In retail sense, it was pretty bad. Some shelves were empty, things were discombobulated. A lot of the store was in shambles. Then there was the checkout. So slow. Good thing they had self-checkout. we moved thru that like we built it. I love Target and was thrilled when this Target moved in less than half a mile away from my house. I stop by often and pick up the essentials I know they have in stock. But I have had two terrible experiences in a row. 1) Today. Summary: ANY ITEM NOT SOLD AT THAT TARGET EXPRESS COULD NOT BE RETURNED IN THIS STORE. I chose to register at Target over BuyBuyBaby, BabiesRUs, etc because I know that with registries a few duplicate or "changed my mind" items are inevitable and I wanted to be able to return items within walking distance. I read carefully over the return policy before choosing to register with Target because I didn't want any problems and only wanted to register at one place (and amazon.com which I HIGHLY recommend). I received two car seats and needed to return one. Because I'm 36 weeks pregnant I decided to rent a zipcar to return the carseat rather than walk the half mile with the large and heavy item. I know the line can get backed up so I ordered the car for a full hour just to be safe. Waited in the long line (okay it was only seven minutes but when you are in fifteen-minute parking every minute counts) and promptly presented my car seat, gift receipt, and registry information. I was quickly notified that my return would not be accepted at this target. In fact, according to "James" (name badge conveniently covered), ANY ITEM NOT SOLD AT THAT TARGET EXPRESS COULD NOT BE RETURNED IN THIS STORE. I was mad. I had just spent $20 on a car rental but did not have enough time on the rental to get to the next closest store and back within my hour. He could not make an exception and while he was not unprofessional he certainly did not make me feel like he had any empathy for my situation. I respect the policy and understand the reason for it, however, if this is your policy it needs to be stated somewhere. This store is not listed as a TargetExpress on the web page and nowhere does it state that returns cannot be made here. I am unregistering and will be VERY careful with future online orders. HOW TO FIX THIS: Either change the policy or state this policy clearly on your webpage. It would also feel better if there were a written policy in the store so I didn't get the feeling that I was simply being pushed around by an employee that didn't want to deal with the return. Follow up: I did end up contacting customer service about the return policy because I believe a system-wide change is in order. It felt great to feel like someone was empathetic and chose to understand why I was frustrated rather than repeat an alleged policy at me repeatedly. The representative explained that Target Expresses are new and they are working out the kinks but did not previously know about this policy. I am satisfied enough as I feel heard, but won't change my stars until I feel this policy information is disseminated appropriately (or policy is changed). 2) Last week: No target gift cards. I get that they can't stock everything a regular Target keeps in stock but gift cards. I walked half a mile in cold rain to get a last minute Target gift card for my nephew. While they have other gift cards they only had those cardboard cards they give you for merchandise credit and no envelopes. I felt too pathetic to hand my nephew a gift card that everyone knows is for just returns. I probably wouldn't even take a star off for this (I'm much more upset about the return policy). Really nice Target. Small in size, like an express, but for the necessities you need (and even clothes and groceries) it serves its purpose. For the people who live in Streeterville like me, it is a great option for when you do not want to travel to full size stores. or hassle with the crowds or long lines. I come here at least once a week and had a terrible experience here last night. The store itself is strange. The checkout counter is terribly planned - there are 3 self-checkout stands that no one ever supervises and then the line builds up because there's never anyone around to help. If not for the locational convenience, well, this target has little to nothing going for it. Never felt more unwelcome and a nuisance as a customer. Came here last night and was browsing the appliances area (think crock pots, etc.). was looking for about 2 minutes when a voice goes "EXCUSE ME" really loudly from the right. A man with a manual forklift was apparently moving boxes of merchandise around. We thought he just wanted to pass through and got out of the way. But NOPE. He decided to put the giant box right in front of us. We couldn't see any of the appliances were were looking at - he literally blocked access to what we were thinking of purchasing! Very strange. We shrugged and walked away. My boyfriend went to check out with his purchases and I stood at the clothing section waiting for him. As I stood there, all of the sudden, I felt something cold and wet dripping on me. The roof/pipe was leaking. I saw the same man walking around and told him "by the way sir, I think your ceiling is leaking because I juts got splashed with water." His response "yeah. *grunt" and walked away from me. I have a love and hate relationship with target. I walk in thinking I just have one item to buy yet an hour and 200 dollars later and I bought a ton of stuff and will have to take five trips up and down the stairs to get everything inside my apartment. So that's annoying (and pricey). This particular location is really well managed. It's clean and organized, albeit tiny- but it's a target express. Their Starbucks is large, nicely lit and very clean and efficient. So it works for those who want to sit down and unwind and those who just want to drink something while they shop. I've found a ton of the things you'd want to have in an express store downtown (band aids, toiletries, snacks, healthy quick meal alternatives to lunch in restaurants). They also have a small clothing section and souvenirs. Great for tourists and those living in the area. They have competitive pricing! I've just been to a store a block away that had same items priced at double the prices at target (not just double the prices but unreasonably high prices). So I think this store is a nice addition to this area, where certain retailers want to over price everyday items. I had no issues with any employees, they were always respectful and helpful. I'm definitely a returning customer. read more

I love Target - but this is the worst location in terms on selection and staff. This store is constantly out of stock on most basic items and has the worst mix of items! Being in such a high traffic area you'd think thru would design this store better. Since it's an express store, no one expects it to be like a fully stocked Target. But why have such a large electronics or clothing sections when no one shops for those items here? They'd be much better off reallocating that space for home goods, better groceries and personal/drugstore items. But the worst part of this store is the staff. There is never anyone at the registers and even when they are there they don't bag your items for you?! I know that Target is trying to move to self checkout but it's ridiculous. The only good person there is Rudy! I only keep going there because it's in my neighborhood. But I don't think like location will last for long. read more

Let me preface this review- I love target! I'm an avid target shopper, red card holder, and spend thousands at Target each year. When I moved to Streeterville earlier this year I was excited to be only a couple blocks from this store. Oh how this store disappoints me. Service is mixed- some workers out on the floor seem helpful- though sparse to find. The cashiers for the most part (there are a few friendly and professional young women who are great) are unprofessional. I would rather take an Uber to the Target on division and Larrabee than shop here. Some things like cosmetics and basics are priced a little higher here. What stock they do carry, is often sold out. Lastly, the pharmacy hours are incredibly inconvenient (closes at 5 on the weekends!) I walked in 20 minutes past the hour and couldn't purchase Zyrtec D. For allergy sufferers you feel my pain. While city targets are supposed to be convenient I recommend traveling 20 minutes away to the division and Larrabee store. read more

This is a sad example for a target experience. The pharmacist was rude and told me there was no bathroom available to change my 5 month olds diaper. You can't tell it's an express until you get inside, at least I couldn't. The guys at the door were nice but another employee I asked a question to was an ass hat also. I usually love target but the energy at this one is way off. Oh and it's super cramped and the p.o.s. Set up is awful. A freshman in space planning 101 could have done a better job. read more

Went to target last night to buy several items. Fairly new in town and appreciated the convenience. WhatI am most irritated with is I forgot my bags and the only bags available we're tiny. You could fit maybe two or three items in a bag. I also had a couple large items. I had about eight bags to carry the many items I have purchased. Including the large items that didnt fit in a bag. Very irritating. Ridiculous. If you are going to carry large items at least have something it fits in. read more

It's Target, but shrunken in size!! I'm not sure if it's their chosen nomenclature, but this is a Target Express. It's as if they've miniaturized a normal Target. They have every department represented with a smaller selection from each. They don't stock larger items, such as appliances and furniture. The selection seems to be that of the most popular items purchased in larger stores. I'm not sure of the exact specifications, but it feels about a tenth of the size of a normal Target. I like this concept and wish they would open more around the city. You don't have to go far, in any direction to find a full sized Target, but it would be nice if there were a bunch of these mini versions in between for quick shopping visits without having to deal with the crowds typically found in full-sized locations. My only criticism, not backed by factual comparison, is that I believe some of the items are slightly higher priced compared to the same products offered in full-sized locations. I guess, I understand this tactic, but come on Target. There's no need to nickel and dime your customers. You have all of Chicagoland on lock-down, especially considering the most recent retreat of many Walmart locations. Pay a little more attention to your customer loyalty and don't take advantage by increasing your prices. That being said, I'll continue to shop at your mini-store. No parking?!?! Seriously?! The Fox & Obel that used to be in the space offered validated parking across the street but not so for this Target location. My husband did in-store pickup for an item we needed and just made this unfortunate discovery. Needless to say, we won't be back. read more
