Target is a good store if you can actually find it. I was off center by more than eight feet and ended up walking directly into a cement wall. Once I got in the store, nothing was quite where it should be. The bread aisle is like five rows in. The corn flake aisle is near the back of the store. And I never did find the silly putty or edible school paste. The shopping cart squeaked and would only go the edge of the parking lot which I guess I understand since I often see them on the side of the road and beneath freeway overpasses. It's unlike any other shopping cart in its plastic simplicity. This is kind of like a huge Lego on wheels. I bought a pack of gum on account of the fact it's tasty but this wasn't so. Very poor customer service. Came to pick up prescription during lunch break and pharmacy was closed. Nobody knew why it was closed and there appeared to be no signs up. When I went to customer support the man in the middle of register was very rude to me. When the pharmacy opened back up I asked why they were closed and they pointed me to a small hidden sign and were very rude. Everything else besides that sign said they were open from 9-7. If you are going to close in the middle of the day, you need to have clear signage at the pharmacy and on the website. To the older woman at the pharmacy who was especially rude to me, please put clear signage up. read more

There are 3 security people at the front door amd a greeter, and nobody to help at the dressing rooms, which are locked, so the only way to get in is to stalk them as someone is leaving if you want to try anything on. One register with a human being was open, several do it yourself registers and one useless guy directing everyone to work while he was doing nothing. This target is turning into a Walmart. The bathrooms are ALWAYS disgusting. Now they've got zero checkout lanes open at night and you have to use self checkout. So if you're doing back to school shopping, have a million small items in your cart, and three small kids? You get to do self checkout. And when you ask if there's someone who can open a regular register, the kid manning the self checkout says "they're busy doing other things, they can't just drop what they're doing." I don't give bad reviews unless it's warranted. I'm not a squeamish person, but I have never seen bathrooms as bad as this Target. I don't want to be graphic, but the place looked vandalized. Only one toilet flushed and that stall was filled with... I don't want to go there. It's Friday today, and I guarantee you no one has cleaned that bathroom all week. There was an entire roll of toilet paper (roll and all) jammed inside one toilet. There were only half of the items that we were looking for in stock, and some of the grocery items were expired. This store has improved over the past couple of years and I often can find items at a good price. They are constantly moving things around and I have noticed an improvement in attitude towards the customer. With staffing shortages there are many self checkouts but I still use the couple of checkouts that are staffed so I can interact with a human and if warranted express my thanks for being there. read more

Compared to other Targets in the area, this is the best one in South Austin. The store is spacious and it's always clean. The lines are never too long and the employees have been friendly every trip I've made. It's been renovated to have a modern display design throughout the store. I've recently started to take advantage of the curbside pick up option at this target location and it's been great! The target is usually convenient for me and if I plan a few hours ahead of time I can order whatever I need and it's ready within 2 hours for me to pick up. On the app I can tell them when I'm headed that way and when I pull into a spot I let them know what spot I'm in via the app - it's super easy and convenient. I'm a fan! read more

I will not be returning to the target, not due to the staff, as they are nice and generally friendly. No one says hi to you, but it is what it is. DEFRAUDING. Literally, the definition of defrauding is what Target is doing and to how many people and credit card companies?! Defrauding of Target patrons, their debit accounts and their credit card companies. You are double-dipping and stealing money from people! Let me explain. I returned 1 swim suit that was a gift for my daughter and got a Merchandise Credit (to be known as "MC" going forward) for $21.65. I immediately used that same MC towards the purchase of 6 different swim suits. The total cost after taxes of the 6 swim suits was $92.55. I paid with the MC for $21.65 and the remaining balance of $70.90 was put on my American Express credit card. The very next day, I returned five of the six bathing suits that my daughter did not like. The refund total was $76.31. Ergo, $70.90 should go back to my American Express and $5.41 to a MC. The cashier called a manager over when I asked why I was only getting $54.66 back to my American Express Credit Card and being forced to take $21.65 on a MC. Because, basic math. The original MC of $21.65 should have paid for the one suit I kept. The manager, a petite white male with long hair was trying to make me feel like a complete idiot when I questioned why only $54.66 was being refunded to my American Express and I was required to get an MC for $21.65....Again, basic math. Target took my mom's $21.65 (which Target was entitled to) and then STOLE an additional $16.24 from me/AMEX. This is $37.89 That Target made vs the original $21.65. That's one heck of an increase in revenue for them...Imagine how many people Target is doing this to?! And what about the credit card balances that have the potential for compound interest if not paid off each month? You're potentially putting people in financial distress. Target, you were only ever entitled to the original $21.65 which was the amount that my mother originally spent with you. You STOLE money from my American Express and returned it to me in the form of YOUR store credit. This is called FRAUD and defrauding of a person as well as American Express. read more

The Target pharmacy has always exceeded my expectations. It is the perfect location for me to grab any needed medications as well as my kids clothing and school supplies and groceries. Very easy pickups when I make quick trips. Some of the unique items that have impressed me in the grocery department lately are the pre-cooked shrimp and it's only $7 for the package and the French vanilla and almond granola. WEAR A FACE MASK WHEN GETTING CURBSIDE. we just picked up a curbside order. The male employee who was handling our and other people's order was not wearing a face mask, instead he had his purple bandana around his neck. We had to roll down the window so he could scan the bar code because he went to the passenger side instead of the driver's side. I also saw him wipe sweat off his forehead with his hand and then touch a cart. I really hope he sanitized his hands after doing that. My main concern is that he isn't wearing his mask while handling items, breathing into people's cars. I have asthma and wasn't planning on needing to wear a mask inside my own car, but I was wrong. I tried to call the store to let them know of the issue and there was no answer from the customer service desk or any other department. I know they're busy and doing a LOT right now, which I greatly appreciate but for everyone to stay healthy we all have to do our part. Target, please have your employees at curbside be aware that wearing a mask is helping to keep others healthy and themselves. read more

I've been a fan of this Target since it was first built as a "Greatland" store. It has since been remodeled to a larger than average regular Target after Target discontinued the use of the "Greatland" designation. I generally can find nearly everything I need here from a discount department store without having to sully myself and go across the street to Mal*Wart. The clothing lines in men's shirts are pretty decent. I like the Merona shirts. I wish they stocked Wrangler jeans in more sizes though; one of the things I have to go to Mal*Wart for. I haven't been impressed with their undergarments and socks since they changed suppliers to Fruit of the Loom several years ago. I love to cruise the clearance end-caps, and I often find really cool stuff at a blow-out price. A few months ago, I found Mag-Lite LED conversion kits (the real deal) at half-off. The health and beauty section is a terrific way to stock up on those items you need, and you can often find in-store monthly unadvertised specials that miss the weekly circular. This my favorite place to do "stock up time" for those items that you always run out of at 6 AM like shampoo and body wash. The smallish mini-grocery section is neat, but it doesn't carry everything and often not the brands I buy in an item, so I don't make much use of it. I haven't found the house-brand "Market Pantry" bread to be very fresh or very good, so I usually skip it. Target always has great seasonal sections, and catching deals as they clear out for the next season is somewhat of an art form. You'll catch me here after Christmas and at the end of summer scoring deals for the next year's deeds. I wish they had expanded this store into a Super Target. I asked a team member once why they didn't, and they claimed that the City of Austin wouldn't let them due to inadequate parking. Funny, the City let the Mal*Wart across the street do it, after they dozed their tree islands down. And obviously it wasn't an impervious cover issue. It's a real shame because this former Greatland store has enough square footage to probably pull it off. I've had only one really negative experience in this store, and it was a doozy, but I don't hold it against them for more than one star. A few years ago, early on a lazy Sunday morning, I decided to browse the store. I picked up several handy, small items put them in the shopping cart, and needed to research a few others (for example, ensure I got the right cigarette lighter adapter for my phone). Apparently this raised the suspicion of store security, who then proceeded to watch me in other departments, including garden/patio, and health and beauty. I had thoughts of abandoning my cart mid-store in retaliation for their cloak-and-dagger tactics, but I figured I'd make myself more suspicious. Also, I figured I could have a helluva lot more impact by buying the things I'd worked so hard to find, and then raising cane. I mentioned my concern to the cashier, who directed me to the team leader (at my request). I told the manager-on-duty "Rachael" how I felt about the experience. The security guard came out of his office as I was speaking with the manager, and denied that he was following me around the store. He claimed he was on a "routine perimeter check", but also confirmed he had inspected my basket. Although she offered a feeble apology, the best explanation Rachael could offer me was that "We watch all of our customers" (I'm still unclear how that statement was intended to make me feel better about my shopping experience). That's, OK, a nice e-mail to Target's HQ took care of the rest of the customer relation aspects that the team leader failed to address. While the manager's response was disappointing, I blamed the overzealous rent-a-cop more than anyone else. Although I avoided this store like the plague for several weeks, I didn't see him there subsequently. That probably means very little as rent-a-cops turn over frequently. In summary, a great place to shop and save in Southwest Austin without subjugating yourselves to the righteous indignations of Mal*Wart. read more

I came in with my son and it was quite a chore wrangling the car seat box in and out of the car with a small child. I'm not enchanted with Target the way folks seem to be. It's overpriced (gasp) junk that I could get better quality at better value elsewhere. The selection and customer service at this location makes it particularly painful. There are usually not enough people working and the ones there typically aren't particularly efficient or effective. Also, I frequently get overcharged or double charged for items and they're very unapologetic. Things happen but when their error benefits them and costs me my time AND you're not kind about it, it's a problem. I don't like the changes they made to this location and as silly as it is, the snack bar never has pretzels -- which is basically the only reason I wanted to come over the past year or so. Got stopped and harassed by a security guard last night at the closing shift (happened on 9/27 around 6:40pm) because he insisted that I needed a cart and pried about my tattoos, my birth year, and my star sign. I talked about my husband a lot to make sure he got the message that I was married then proceeded to talk about how he's a sagittarius and how sag men are persistent. He blocked me from entering the store with a shopping cart and his body and wouldn't let me go until a mom and her child walked in and needed a cart. Thank god for them. What was supposed to be a five minute shopping trip turned into almost an hour because I had to call a friend to shop with me because I no longer felt safe. Because of the person who is supposed to make the store safe. If I could give this zero stars, I would. The world is already an unsafe place, we don't need the people who are supposed to help protect us to be the ones to make it worse. Women who shop by themselves, beware of this Target because apparently you can't even get soap without getting harassed. I will also be calling and filing a complaint. read more
