It's my first time, so I brought my entire screen and AC insert to the store. They were able to take the measurements there. Summer is their busy season, so I definitely recommend doing it sooner before the weather gets too hot. The whole plastic for the window was about $99 (before tax) and the additional AC cut-out was about $50 (before tax). Once they took my order, the wait time was about one and half weeks for me. If you're considering this location to build a custom window covering for an A/C, I would reconsider. I brought in exact measurements of what I was looking for and was charged before they understand what I wanted, and sent me away without looking at or taking the measurements I brought in. I called afterward to make sure they understand the various cutouts needed so there would be room for the window crack, etc, around my window and had to email them the dimensions I tried to leave in person. I also provided pictures of my window and window coverings similar to what I was looking for. 3+ times it was provided to them that the window covering needed to be an additional inch around all sides so there would be room for the Velcro to attach around the window. After waiting a week I called them to see the status of my order, which was completed, but I was never notified. When I picked up the covering it was the exact dimensions of the window, meaning there was no room for the Velcro to attach around the window. The lack of attention to detail at this place is honestly astonishing. I could not have made it easier to understand what I was looking for. I would never recommend taking any custom built needs here. Update: This business is claiming that my boyfriend reviewed the detailed request for a custom window covering both over the phone and in person once they were emailed to the store. This didn't happen, he never went back until after the items were completed to pickup. He never took any calls from them. He never requested any modifications to the item we were requesting. In every email, and in the images they had for reference, it was always stated to add one inch on all sides of the covering so it would fit over the window. He was not called regarding pick up. I called this business for a status update and was told explicitly that no follow up call was made due to being busy. The items were picked up the next day. I obviously would have no interest in having this company remake the item considering they ignored what we were requesting multiple times. Do not use this business. read more

I stopped in here last November because I needed a piece of plexiglass cut for my living room window, so that I could run my cellular and TV antenna cables through it. These people were able to cut a custom made piece to fit my window (in my case, a 4" x 31" x 3/4 " piece) on the spot. In addition, they were able to cut a 1 inch perfectly round hole (to run the cables through) in it with laser precision. Other places may sell plexiglass, but not at three-quarter inch thickness! And it is doubtful if they can precision laser cut it to your exact specifications as well. I paid $36.92 including tax for the plexiglass piece, which included the hole cut in it. Plexiglass is by nature expensive. I would come back here again. read more

I've been here a few times and the staff has always been courteous and helpful. I bought two portable air conditioners and needed plexiglass cut for the exhaust pipes so they could vent out the window. This included both cutting it to fit the window, and adding a hole for the exhaust pipe connector. Both pieces needed different shaped holes and TAP plastics did an excellent job taking measurements and cutting it to specifications. Each piece met the exact size and shapes I needed. I've also purchased resins and epoxies here for different projects. They have a huge selection and helped me pick the one best suited to my needs. I was also able to buy all the materials I needed, like fiberglass cloth to go with the epoxy which I used to make a mask for halloween. They actually have a huge selection of stuff for Cosplay, like Worbla and fiberglass fillers! Recently I needed some small, basic clear, plastic display boxes for some something I was sending out as gifts. I had a hard time finding boxes that were on the smaller side and at a reasonable price. I realized TAP plastics might have something like that and sure enough I found a wide variety on their website. They were also incredibly cheap. However, it turned out my local store didn't have them. It turned out the bigger Seattle store did, so the reps at the Bellevue location went there and picked them up for me! I dropped off a plywood template (for a sailboat hatch) and wanted two marine board copies made - along with a 2X4 of plastic to replace another wooden part for the boat. Instead of the work being done immediately, which I kind of expected from their site, I was told that they would call me, likely the next day (Saturday). I was called the next day, only to inform me that they did not have the stock on-hand to make the pieces in white as I ordered, but did I want them in black or wait for Monday. I opted to wait for Monday as I wanted it in the color I desired. 1:00 Monday, I happened to be in Bellevue (I live 40 minutes away) and stopped by to see if the pieces were ready. They were not. I was told they would do the work 'in the next 2 hours'. I stopped back after 3:30 and the pieces were still not ready. I decided not to waste yet more time on this, cancelled the order and went home. I'll never go to this store again. read more

A fun lace for me and for kids to seethe tremendous variety of shapes, tubes, cubes, lenses, bottles, sheet plastic in all colors, and a large display of fiberglass repair supplies with explanatory notes posted beside many items. Rebekah as helpful, cheery and well-informed. Answers she didn't know, she found by researching the question or asking a more experienced colleague. A good place to shop. Love this place. Whenever I need some materials either for a project, or cut to specific dimensions, they deliver at a very reasonable price. My latest "project" was I was simply looking for a piece of plexi to attach to a door frame that was getting worn by the dog's claws. Tap is not close to my house and it was Saturday, so I went to Home Depot (they don't cut plexi) and Ace Hardware (they don't cut plexi either). Both Home Depot and Ace were willing to sell me a enormous sheet though for $40. Went into tap the following Monday with my dimensions and the clerk cut me two on the spot for under $10. read more

I've been using TAP now for a few years with custom fabricated one-off projects for both work and home. I would suggest providing them with a CAD drawing or similar with exact dimensions, radii of whatever it is that you need built so they can accurately build it for you. They have a very large selection of plastics; all sorts of thicknesses, colors, etc. Your first time in might be a little overwhelming as mine was, but I've usually dealt with Mark who is very helpful and a great guy to work with. Pricing is fair and competitive of course depending on the complexity of what it is. Most importantly their turn-around times are usually on point. If you're looking for cosplay armor/prop-making supplies on the Eastside, you cannot do better than TAP Plastics. I dropped in looking for Worbla and was immediately greeted and helped by a thoroughly knowledgeable, friendly sales rep. He struck a perfect balance of helpfulness without being patronizing, which I appreciated as a longtime cosplay hobbyist who's just starting to experiment with armor and props. Their selection of thermoplastics isn't super broad, but they've got all the basics - plus a huge variety of other useful doodads, bits and bobs, cabuchons, and sheet plastics both clear and colored. The prices seem very reasonable, too. As a bonus, there's a foam store just two doors down, making this a one-stop shop for most of your armor/prop needs. TAP Plastics saved the day. It was a Saturday morning when I found out that UPS had lost all my acrylic wedding signs and decor. I found the Bellevue location through a Google search looking for acrylic sheets so I could attempt to recreate the signs that I needed for the wedding 6 days later. I cannot for the life of me remember who helped me (there were two gentlemen) but they were AMAZING and so patient. They helped with use a reference picture I had from my order and cut all the acrylic sheets to size right then so I could take them home and get to work. When they told me that the acrylic stands I needed had a 14 day lead time, I explained my situation and they made sure to write on the order form that the stands would be done the day before the wedding, but that they wouldn't be able to get them polished up. No big deal to me at this point! Monday morning, I get a call that the stands are already done AND they went ahead and found the time to polish them up for me so that they would look perfect for the wedding. TAP has a great selection of plastic material, pre-made items, sheets of plastic films, adhesives, etc. all of which are so hard to find elsewhere. We had very different experiences with TAP in Seattle vs. TAP in Bellevue for the exact same work. We provided a very detailed list of what we needed cut, but were told it needed to be laser cut and had to be shipped to their CA store.The asst manager was quite insistent it was the only way to get it done, and seemed a bit irritated (bad day maybe) by our questions. Cost $900. We then took the exact same job to TAP Seattle and for $140 we got the job done (in-house) in one day. The young woman was very helpful, and understand exactly what we wanted done. It's amazing how much of a difference it made to go to a different store. read more

I've been here in a few occasions, whether for a personal or a professional project. Once entering their store, the front end is a moderately-sized store front with aisle of plastic based containers, display devices, product stands, or "small" sheets of raw materials, or tools for cutting plastic, adhesive bonding materials, or PPE for handling large sheets of plastic (or any other large materials with large tools). Because of everything in the store, it did took me a while to wonder around each aisle to account for what they have. I've used this store to acquire display stands for computer products for a tradeshow, and to acquire organizational devices to sort my tools at my workshop. However, probably the best capability of this store is their fabrication abilities. I needed a device to hold up several cameras, that was easy to ship (pre-assembled with all of the cameras, communication and power grid), is affordable to fabricate, and is visually appealing. So, I designed a template on 3x2' plywood, with all of the holes already plotted out. I took this template in, and they just asked me what kind of plastic I want, what color I want, if I wanted to rounded edges, and they told me a cost and date of when it will be ready. Needless to say I'm very satisfied the ended results as I have working display device, and I'm satisfied with what they have to offer for plastic based materials. If you want something made of plastic and you have firm idea of the design, bring your design here, and let it become a reality. read more

I've been coming here for projects for just about 15 years, and it never ceases to amaze me the products and advice these guys have had for me to be successful. So many great plastic and resin choices, and hundreds of things I've never seen at any other store. I have recently been having to special order some specialty plastic sheets and the Manager (Ryan) has been instrumental in helping me find what I need at the right price. It just shows up a few days later on a truck, and they are always willing to help cut things to size to fit into my car. I also had some aquarium parts and filter boxes custom made in their fabrication shop recently where it was absolutely critical the seams be glued perfectly so as to not leak water. Mike and Chris walked me through every step of the process and produced some incredible finished products that I was able to drop right into place and get up and running with the same day they were finished. I can't thank them enough. Trust me when I say, it's worth their labor rate to have them glue and drill any critical pieces! read more

I went to this store and asked for a quote on 10 sheets, the man behind the counter quoted me a price. This was later doubled on my card to 400.00 without me being told, then they sat back on their hands and told me there is nothing they will do. The sheets they gave me were very scratched up and when I went to pick them up originally they had forgotten to do them over the weekend and required extra time to complete. I'm very disappointed, I've been using TAP for years and have been very happy with them, this is sadly not the case anymore and I will be taking my companies work elsewhere in the future. -Hunter read more

You know how sometimes you venture into a brand new place not knowing what to expect, and you leave with exactly what you needed, having experienced great customer service and a renewed belief that there are good people in the world? My experience today at Tap Plastics in Bellevue was just that. I needed a piece of plexi-glass or acrylic (I was unsure just what-- that clear stuff, you know) cut to size to cover the touch screen of my son's augmentative communication computer. Not a complicated project, but important to him, and something I wasn't doing so well at myself at home with a utility knife and sandpaper. I really regret that I can't remember the name of the young man who helped me, but he was wonderful to work with. He went above and beyond in customer service and thought of some nice refinements that I didn't know enough to ask for -- non-glare material, beautifully rounded edges, smoothly sanded for no sharp corners. even a little mark to make it easy and foolproof for me to know which side was up for glare proof. Needed some plastic pieces made for some light fixtures with holes drilled in certain areas. Mark was working the counter and was very helpful and had a positive attitude. I brought in a sample and Mark assisted me with a pen and paper to draw what I needed to get it right. After I drew the diagram we both checked it and Mark said it was not a problem and recommended the type of plastic, thickness, color, etc. I knew what I needed but not what would work best. He said it would probably be done this afternoon, I told him it was no rush. Later that afternoon I received a call from Ryan stating it was ready for pickup and they would hold it for me till next week if needed. I looked around the store and they have quite a large selection of plastic items in all shapes and sizes. I went over to have a window pane substitute made for a AC vent. I didn't write my specification clearly and the hole was put in wrong place. They were very patient with me and had me redraw the specification. They made it perfectly. They informed me because of my error that they had to charge me for the material for the first try. No contact was forthcoming so I contacted the store. Was told by the manager they could not find my order. They would continue looking and call me back. Three weeks later still no contact.
