Love this place! They have great Vietnamese food that is afforadable, large portions and the staff is extremely friendly. I haven't had the pho here but all my friends rave about it. My go to dishes are the vermicelli bowls either curry or lemongrass ones with tofu...can't go wrong with either one. They come with onions, brocolli, carrots and mushrooms which ate perfectly cooked. They're tender and flavorful but not mushy (something I can never achieve when I try steaming broccoli). They are very generous with the tofu and there is more than enough sauce to cover all the noodles. Also, because I ordered a vegetarian dish, they asked me if I wanted to try the peanut sauce because the bowls normally come with fish sauce. The reviews here are dead-on accurate. The place was packed, which was a good sign to begin with. I had a spring roll with the #50 vermicelli with chicken and curry sauce. It was absolutely out of this world outstanding. The curry used was a tad spicy which made for a perfect meal. While the atmosphere and presentation were certainly less than stellar, I find that these guys care a whole lot more about the food than the way the place looks or how a dish is presented. Hats off to the owners and staff for a job well done. Next time I'm in Austin, I'll be back here in a heartbeat! read more

Well, my curry noodles were kinda bland..I ordered number 50 ..with a piece of metal that I had to take back, which they were very nice about they didn't sit and inspect the foreign object in my plate, they just replaced my bowl and apologized. My coworker ordered another thing and it came with an egg roll but she was able to substitute it for spring rolls which were really delicious. I think u like enjoy this place if I would've ordered pho..everyone ordered around me had it! It's very affordable and a huge overwhelming menu. read more

I'm disappointed to have to update my review for Tan My. We live pretty far from this restaurant and don't visit often but we did return recently. Both my husband and I were disappointed with our experience. We had such positive memories of our prior experiences--great and prompt service, clean establishment and very flavorful preparations for a value price. There was always the parking issue, the busyness of the unassuming strip center. But the flavor of the food made those minor inconveniences melt away. Well on a Friday night visit, the parking lot was jammed with lots of people sitting in their cars, the restaurant (particularly the bathrooms) was not as clean as I remembered. But most disappointing is the PHO broth was good but nothing memorable. My husband had a vermicelli that was ok but also not memorable. My suggestion is that if you live in the adjacent neighborhood, it is probably a good local option and you are well aware the establishment and can coordinate your visits around times when the center is not so busy.. If our recent experience is the new normal there in terms of their food prep and quality, it is definitely not worth travelling a distance to visit. I will probably not be back. Super disappointed in this recent experience. I will give it three stars because it is good food/value priced. read more

I do love Pho and try many places. I travel to San Jose frequently and for sure you could eat at a different Pho restaurant every day for a year there. While Austin has a more limited selection we do have great Pho! This place (so far) is my favorite. The food (not just Pho) is excellent. Service is fast and very friendly. I highly recommend #9. One of my fav vietnamese restaurants in ATX. Been coming here since I was a kid with my parents- almost 20 years already! Wow, time really does fly. But the recipe and menu here has pretty much stayed the same all these years. Love the father, mother, son & daughter whom run the shop- they're sweet & hardworking people. My fav dish here is the Mi Kho Seafood = Seafood Dry Noodles. Squeeze in some lime, add as dash of chili oil and garnish with more cooked bean sprouts + cilantro and you have an amazingly savory, yum! I also like the shrimp fried rice and stir fry basil flat noodles. =) read more

Portions are big but quality of food does not stand up the 4.5 stars here. Egg noodle is good but they use too much oil to cook and felt eating oily noodle. Charcoaled pork does not have charcoal flavor. Curry noodle is to avoid at all times. I have not eaten such bad curry noodle before. Flavor of curry is worse than what I cook at home. This is an average Vietnamese restaurant and not how people say here that is one of the top ones. read more

I can't believe I have never been to this place before. The food was great. We ordered the 55c (after seeing many mentions of it on here), 9 and the egg rolls. The egg rolls were really crispy and hot. The 55c was good, but I don't think I would order it next time. I was a little confused at first because I wasn't sure what the square shaped things were. I realized quickly after taking a bite that they were the noodles. They were tasty, but maybe a little too heavy. That's a lot of fried goodness! The sauce on the 55c was great. I'd love to find another dish that has the same sauce. The #9 (beef pho) was probably our favorite. We ordered the large and wow... it was large! We could have shared just that! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!! I read the reviews about Bun Bo Hue and I had to give it a try. The Bun Bo Hue was overpriced ( only a few toppings for $11.25) It was so bad and nothing like the picture. It's like they gave me Bun Bo Hue toppings with a VERY BAD Pho broth. The color was clear and flavorless. It was not spicy at all. They used beef brisket for Bun Bo Hue instead of beef shank and the cut was cut parallel to the grains making it super tough and chewy. I was very disappointed. The Bun Bo Hue was so flavorless that I had to buy Bun Bo Hue seasoning to flavor it again. Definitely never again. read more

Delicious! Tan My gives you incredibly large portions of pretty much whatever you order. I got a large #10 beef broth pho with flank and eye round in a large which meant it was a supermassive portion of broth. Unfortunately for me, I let some of my meat sit a little long and the tendons got separated and stringy. Remember to eat all of your beef parts before moving on to noodles! read more

The basil noodles are good, and that's it. Any transplant from Cali or NYC this isn't a good place. The bar for somebody born and raised in Texas for Asian food is rather low and this seemed to be as such. I don't understand these reviews. Le Bleu, Pho with us and Talad, Saps are only ones I've been impressed with in Austin as somebody who grew up in Cali and traveled all of south east Asia. Fried rice wasn't good at all. The food here is really good. I've had the pho, vermicelli, and rice plates. The large bowl of pho is huge. I under estimated it so next time I'm ordering a small. The pho here is good and always comes out hot and fresh but I'm not a big fan of anything else. The restaurant is small and it's hard to find parking in the shopping center during peak hours. I wouldn't recommend coming here with a big group of friends due to the size of the restaurant. One time I ordered pho and the waiter asked me if I needed a fork instead of chopsticks. I felt a little disrespected but it's all good. Overall this is a decent place for comfort food with fair prices. read more

Great Pho. Been eating here for 2 years, about once a week or so. Their consistency is incredible -- as an example, never once have I been served stale or old beansprout with my Pho. It's always fresh and crunchy. The soup is consistent, meat is always fresh, staff are always friendly (same 5-6 people over 2 years!!) and the prices are good. Thumbs up! read more

Tried out this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised! We got the #9 Pho Tal Chin, which came with all of the additions to put in the pho. We also got the #34 and #36 which were the fried egg rolls and the spring rolls. #56 was fried noodles and so good! Definitely would recommend trying it! read more

I had dry noodles #23 and #22. While, my friend ordered Bun Bo Hue (Hue Spicy Beef Noodle) and Hu Tieu Hoanh Thanh (Wonton Soup). Oh! We've tried their pho broth and liked it too. I would recommend the "pho" too. The foods were absolutely delicious and full of flavor, reminding me of the true Vietnamese noodle soup dishes back in Vietnam. Very authentic and tasty. *If you are a fan of spicy stuff: ask for their yummy pickled jalapeno The owner has full sense of humor. His wife is very nice and informative local guide. More like 2.5 .... It's impossible to find good Pho in this city. I ordered Tan My's vegetable pho, and it the broth was weirdly sweet, and very fishy. Had I wanted seafood soup, I would have ordered it. What if I'd had an allergy? The onions tasted like they were going off, too. Plus it took 1.5 hours to get delivered (but maybe that was Door Dash's fault, who knows). My husband got the dish with chicken, jalapenos and flat noodles -- better, but still sort of heavy handed with the sweetness. The hunt for the best pho in Austin continues. The pho is decent, and I didn't grab the water often so I don't think there's a lot of msg. If you order the large size, expect a LOT of noodles. As for the bun bo hue...it's really pepper-y, so it WILL make your throat tickle and make you chug water lol. Broth was good, even though it's a little too spicy for my taste. Unfortunately, the noodles were very sad-looking. They were really short strands and clunky meaning that it was probably cooked wrong. The congealed pork blood was also overcooked. :( My boyfriend and I both could not finish our meals. read more
