First came to Talnua Distillery about 3 years ago and made sure to come back on this trip. The whiskey here is consistently some of the best I've had and you can tell they truly care about the quality of what they produce. It was great hearing about their single barrel option and I even stepped outside my normal order and tried one of their gin drinks, which was fantastic. Went to Talnua tonight for their holiday market and some seasonal drinks and it was delicious as always! I tried the sweet potato Old Fashioned which was, as implied, a touch sweet but to my liking, and Jared got the World Famous (!!) eggnog. I've never liked eggnog before but this one was delicious - I loved the spices on top and the coldness of the nog, and the whiskey in it was delicious. The staff was super nice as always and I loved the Christmas ambiance. They even had Santa visiting! Love that we're only three minutes away from this place. read more

Such a great local gem! Stumbled across this cute little tasting room on a bike ride last year (they are pretty close the bike path) and decided to stop in and give it a try. How is it that we've never been to Talnua? What a gem. We enjoyed everything about this distillery and will certainly be back. Let's talk about the space. They are expanding soon and will have more space to offer, but for now, there are several small areas to sit with friends and enjoy a mixed drink or a flight of their offerings. They have a large farmhouse type table as well if you're with a larger group. Love the attention to detail in the decor - lots to look at and enjoy. Cozy and inviting. The whiskey? The gin? Holy wow. And these guys are the first to use Single Pot Still whiskey in the US - in the US! How cool is that. We learned how unique this is and also the story behind their name (means New Land) and their logo. Both are rich in meaning - always a cool story, so def ask when you visit. We ordered a flight of everything they distill and one of my fav drinks ended up being a Gin based mule. I am NOT a gin fan, but wow, apparently I haven't had really good gin until now! Came here for Yelp's Whiskey Week (amazing, I know) and had a grand time. Started with their rosemary olive oil old fashioned - YUM - then learned all about pot still whiskey, paired with a tasting. Staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about their product. Cocktail lounge had a cozy feel to it while making good use of the limited space. We ended our adventure by ordering a rhubarb gin & tonic and a pot o' gold old fashioned, both of which were tasty. Looking forward to coming back and trying some of their other funky cocktails. This was definitely the best distillery experience of several I've had. The atmosphere was relaxed and casual, very warm and inviting. They have a large outdoor seating area. We took a distillery tour and our host Maya made us feel welcome like old friends, imparting knowledge about not only their whiskeys, but whiskey in general. The owner Patrick Miller made a point of introducing himself and making us feel welcome as well. We tasted 5 whiskey bottles and all were phenomenal. They also make 2 expressions of gin, including a bottle aged gin, which I've never seen before. And there's a large bar and lounge for incorporating all that beautiful juice into cocktails. If you want to experience unique and special whiskey produced in the first single pot still distillery in America, this is the place. These guys make beautiful whiskies. Exceptional quality and drinkability. Their Irish-style spirits are beautifully crafted. I like them neat or on the rocks. They were at an event recently at Bruz Beers in Denver. Bruz had aged their Cooper's Imperial Stout in a Talnua barrel and you could taste the whiskey and barrel-aged beer together. Just went for my second visit to this amazing distillery. My hubby has gone and few times without me - just rude. I love whisky and they do a fabulous job making unique and flavorful whiskeys. Also the coffee liquor on my last visit was a keeper as I had to have a bottle. This is must do if you like whiskey. The staff is very knowledgeable, the flights are a must for a first time visitor and the cocktails are creative. I wanted to update our review because a few months ago we stopped in again because....we were doing an engagement photo shoot at Talnua! We emailed and they gracefully and generously said they were happy to have us. They were incredibly helpful, incredibly flexible, and incredibly patient. We were so lucky to have one of our favorite distilleries let us share this experience with them. We grabbed a couple cocktails and Maya helped us get around and take pictures wherever. We are extremely fortunate and thankful, and as usual, the seated old fashioned was amazing, and the service is excellent and this place is just really great people and really great whiskey and gin. Which, speaking of, their peated whiskey is phenomenal and their barrel aged gin is absolutely TO DIE FOR. Amazing place. It's amazing. Just go at your earliest convenience, you'll be so glad you did. They regularly host Makers nights with craft markets, their staff is just beyond friendly - they always seem so happy to have you there, and it's just so wonderful. Lemon Espresso Old Fashioned, made with Single Pot Still Whiskey, this distillery is super unique! Talnua distillery is the first in the US to use Single Pot Still Whiskey & only the 8th in the world. Single Pot Still is a traditional style of whiskey that includes un-malted barley in the mash. Talnua means New Land, and they brought this traditional style to the US, using all Colorado products. I had a great time talking with the GM Maya and learning about all their products and history. They currently have 3 different Whiskeys and 2 different Gins, as well as a great cocktail list. The Lemon Espresso was made with their Continuuum Cask Whiskey, which is their house whiskey, then mixed with Espresso, Lemon, and Angostura Bitters. One of the best Old Fashions ever! I'm love with this spot! It's sort of an "Irish style" American distillery, in that they use a pot still, along with half malted and unmalted barley. Each whisky on their flight was unique and distinguishable, with a lot of delicious flavors. I loved the peated whisky they're doing. Very cool pioneer distillery right here in Colorado. First to do single pot still whiskey in the US! Irish "style". Went during Whiskey Week, and it was a great experience, both the whiskey and the education (thank you Maya and Patrick!). The Continuum was very interesting, with fruit (bananas), and toffee or caramel notes. Probably my favorite was the version aged in virgin oak barrels - a lot of flavor and just delightful (to me). I didn't try the Saint's (a bit pricey at $100 a bottle), or the peated, which I would have liked since I like Scotch, particularly smoky, peaty ones. Their entry level Heritage is quite good - blended with a whiskey imported from Ireland. Very approachable for a newbie, and a very drinkable dram for a more experienced whiskey-phile. I'm really excited about this company, bringing this style to the US, and they obviously love their work (well, duuuh!). Enjoy! read more

Hands down the best whiskey I've had in all of Denver! Words cannot express the complex flavors in their Inishan Whiskey and their Old Saints Keep is divine. I've never tasted whiskeys as sophisticated as Talnua's creations. On top of that, the owners, Meagan and Patrick, and bartender, Maya, are some of the sweetest people I've met since moving to Denver from the Western Slope. Best to open with the following, "shush and take my money!" We stumbled across this place after playing dodgeball archery next door in the same complex. Talnua turned out to be the perfect place to end our night. The open glass window viewing the distillery equipment is a nice touch. The whiskey is made onsite in the traditional style of Single Pot Still that is only found in Ireland. Gin is available as well a variety of cocktails. We recommend the mule, the Michael Collins, and the whisky flight. The ideal Friday night is to start at Odessy brewing to hydrate with dehydrating beer, go play dodgeball archery, then treat all the muscle aches/pains with amazing Merican made whiskey. Asian Wife says I wrote to much, she advises to just show up and get a drink. And if you're Asian bring Pepcid....... don't tell her, but I don't think it actually helps the Glow. Shhh.... read more

Stopped by just after they opened yesterday. Although they are in a warehouse/business park-type setting I was pleasantly surprised how cozy the interior is, definitely cozy and I could see enjoying a cozy drink there in the winter. Patio is pretty decent to with sail shades, plants, and cloth paneling up that make it welcoming too. Staff was authentically friendly and engaging, and took time to tell us about the products. They were also really understanding when we realized we ordered the wrong drink and I had to trade it in for allergy reasons. Wow! This place is great. The words that just left my mouth the minute I took a sip of my Lemon Espresso Old Fashioned. I love a good old fashioned and this is the best damn old fashioned I have ever had the pleasure of sipping on. Smooth whiskey, not over powered by the espresso and the hint of lemon just seals the deal. It's absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is another win for me. It's cozy, it's stylish and yet so inviting.
