Went to Talnua tonight for their holiday market and some seasonal drinks and it was delicious as always! I tried the sweet potato Old Fashioned which was, as implied, a touch sweet but to my liking, and Jared got the World Famous (!!) eggnog. I've never liked eggnog before but this one was delicious - I loved the spices on top and the coldness of the nog, and the whiskey in it was delicious. The staff was super nice as always and I loved the Christmas ambiance. They even had Santa visiting! Love that we're only three minutes away from this place.

Talnua is the 1st... numero uno... pioneer... O.G. of Single Pot Still Whiskey distillery in the U. S. of A. So what is Single Pot Still Whiskey? It's a style of whiskey that was birthed across the pond in Ireland. It's full of tradition, honor and distilled from a mash of malted and unmalted raw barley! The unmalted raw barley is what gives it its characteristic taste. Random Mid-Review Fun Fact: In 1980, there were only two Single Pot Still Whiskey distilleries in the world! So how did we get one in Arvada, CO? We can thank LOVE! Two Americans fell in love, then two Americans fell in love with Single Pot Still Whiskey while honeymooning in Ireland. Super cool, huh? So what does Single Pot Still Whiskey taste like? Unfortunately, I'm not an expert on whiskey so all I can say about this is... DIABHAL MAITH! That's Irish for DAMN GOOD! So should you come visit Talnua? Absolutely, the people are good-hearted, the whiskey and cocktails are well-done, and the knowledge shared is worthwhile. I highly recommend spending some time here! You will not regret it.

Did a tasting with a few buddies and the overall experience was great. Super insightful tour to learn more about their approach to whiskey, hearing the stories of what inspires them, and also seeing their operation. We also got to enjoy four different pours from various whiskeys they offer.

How is it that we've never been to Talnua? What a gem. We enjoyed everything about this distillery and will certainly be back. Let's talk about the space. They are expanding soon and will have more space to offer, but for now, there are several small areas to sit with friends and enjoy a mixed drink or a flight of their offerings. They have a large farmhouse type table as well if you're with a larger group. Love the attention to detail in the decor - lots to look at and enjoy. Cozy and inviting. The whiskey? The gin? Holy wow. And these guys are the first to use Single Pot Still whiskey in the US - in the US! How cool is that. We learned how unique this is and also the story behind their name (means New Land) and their logo. Both are rich in meaning - always a cool story, so def ask when you visit. We ordered a flight of everything they distill and one of my fav drinks ended up being a Gin based mule. I am NOT a gin fan, but wow, apparently I haven't had really good gin until now! Def stop by and plan to spend some time here. We loved literally every drink we had and can't wait to return!

Great distillery with a unique whiskey distilling process! Highly recommended visiting this distillery and sampling their whiskey! Maya did a WONDERFUL job with her presentation and explanation of the one pot still whiskey process! Bought a bottle of their Heritage Selection whiskey to take home!

I kind of what to keep this place a secret. Is it a secret? Whether it is or not, they are creating some stunning cocktails here and the staff of always great! Chill patio to bring the pup, have a few cocktails and enjoy the day. Whiskey here is phenomenal in a non-pretentious way. Just good people making great whiskey. You want a great cocktail, look no further.

Just went for my second visit to this amazing distillery. My hubby has gone and few times without me - just rude. I love whisky and they do a fabulous job making unique and flavorful whiskeys. Also the coffee liquor on my last visit was a keeper as I had to have a bottle. This is must do if you like whiskey. The staff is very knowledgeable, the flights are a must for a first time visitor and the cocktails are creative. I appreciated on our visit watching them work on crafting a new cocktail - which wasn't quite right yet.

    Whiskey flight!
    John K.

Great tasting whiskey, inventive drinks, and friendly staff! I really was surprised by the quality of the whiskey. I had the full whiskey flight and could taste distinct differences in their various offerings. My palate isn't too fancy so my favorite was the Heritage Selection followed by the Virgin White Oak Cask, but honestly they were all great! Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

While we ended up getting different drinks, I have no doubt the espresso martini is yummy. My husband went for the Old Fashioned and I opted for As the Crow Flies - both were very tasty. Not cheap though - about $14 a pop. They had a wide beer selection and a few NA options, which I'm looking forward to trying as they sounded good. The bartender was friendly and skilled. We ended up sitting inside because it was a bit too hot for us, but others were on the patio and it did have ample seating and shade; will likely be lovely in a few weeks. The decor inside was clean with comfortable seating and a variety of bar seats and low tables. They also had virtual golf - an interesting mix. My one complaint is the amount of televisions. It had the amount I'd expect at a sports bar but way above sports bar prices. They could get away with removing 1-2 and still catering to the same crowd while appealing to those (like me) who don't want to have to sit in a corner and strategically place the chairs just to not have to look at a screen.

That's when I came across Dearly Departed and I'm so glad I did. We arrived right when they opened at 5pm and were able to walk in and be seated immediately. The speakeasy is tucked into the underground portion of the restaurant, which adds to the charm. The space is beautifully decorated, moody, intimate, and effortlessly upscale. It truly sets the tone the moment you walk down. We ordered two spritzes and a charcuterie board, and both exceeded expectations. The drinks were refreshing, perfectly balanced, and felt elevated without being overcomplicated. But the real star was the charcuterie board. For $20, it was an incredible value, stacked with a variety of meats, cheeses, fresh veggies, nuts, and peppers. The freshly grilled bread was a standout touch, and the portions were more than generous. Every bite felt thoughtfully curated, and there was something new and delicious in every corner of the board. Between the ambiance, the quality of the drinks, and the impressive food, Dearly Departed delivered an experience that felt both cozy and refined. I'd absolutely recommend checking it out for the atmosphere alone. I'm already looking forward to going back and trying more from their menu.

Cozy spot for some classy bites and cocktails. I think I probably got off on the wrong foot when I asked for sparkling water instead of flat and found out it was $7 per personal mini bottle (and they don't have club soda). My first time encountering that in Denver in the last 14 years... The cocktail concept is cool: pick a classic, slightly updated, or super creative version from 5 categories (martini, old fashioned, sour, spritz, highball). The spicy mango sour (with mezcal) was awesome -- although I expected egg white on a sour. The martinis were ok... a bit of a let-down in today's collection of Denver martinis at other local spots (think anchovy, sour cream and onion, holy trinity, and old bay). The food was also hit or miss. We loved the cauliflower/potato Bravas with the slightly spicy sauce, as well as the croquettes and their sauce. The tuna crudo was super bland, which is disappointing for $19.
