The only bartender that didn't seem to care about anyone else besides these ladies. Very rude and inattentive.

After taking the Coors tour just down the road, we decided to walk through Golden and do some shopping through their downtown area when we stumbled upon this tiny little corner bar. What enticed us to stop was their $5 margarita special they had going on during Happy Hour, and I just couldn't pass that up. We walked in and had to wait for the only bartender on duty to finish telling a story to what we eventually realized, were the only 2 customers he seemed to care about in the bar. Once he was done I ordered us 2 margaritas and then went and joined my friend at a little table right next to the bar. Instead of bringing us our margaritas he just left them sitting on the bar and went back to conversation with the two customers he was talking to previously. Mind you, it was only US and the 2 other ladies that were sitting at the bar in this entire establishment which wasn't more than 400sq ft..so intimate if you will. Thankfully the drinks were actually delicious, and huge! They also had a nice little back wall of the bar that had a small assortment of games to play like Uno, Checkers, Battleship, and Connect 4. We hung around and played a few while we drank our margaritas. As for the decor...it looked like this place had a great idea and concept when they started...and then either got lazy and ran out of money. I think it might have actually been their intention, but all of their trim was just plain, unstained, and untouched pieces of lumber. They had really nice furniture to fit in a space that looked like an unfinished clubhouse for kids. At this point I was ready to give this place 2 stars. Solely for the delicious drinks and the fact that they had games to play. Clearly the service was horrible and the environment just looked like it needed a lot of TLC. However, the 3rd star came about 15 minutes before we were about to leave when a 2nd bartender showed up for his shift. He actually came and checked on us, asked us if we needed another round..and even gave us a menu, which after being here an hour we had no idea they even had. So kudos to their entire staff not being inattentive and rude to their customers.

Mmkay. Tiny menu notwithstanding... Best margarita EVA!!! I've been to Mexico, I live in Southern California....I consider myself a professional margarita drinker... ...best margarita ever. But only if JT makes it. I walked away with a bottle of tequila and a bottle of agave Vodka??? Lols. Loved it.

Sate 38 is one of my favorite local distilleries... so when I found that they had opened a bar I had to check it out. Turns out it is right on the main drag in Golden. There is an interesting drink menu with a wide range of cocktail options, all using State 38's spirits. The margarita has fresh juice, jalepenos, is delicious but perhaps most importantly is the size of my head! (granted I do have a freakishly small head but still - HEAD sized delicious margs). I also tried a drink that had just been voted one of the best in Golden, an espresso-tini and it not only was flavorful, it packed two punches. The indoor bar area is bright and welcoming and there is even outdoor seating overlooking the foothills. There is light fare that you can order served from the adjoining restaurant (fried cheese curds, burgers, chips and salsa, etc) So if you're in Golden and want to grab a drink this is a great place to start..or end your evening. And I think they even drink specials for both happy hour and later in the evening.

    Very fun and awesome tasting!

When my husband and I travel we just head out and go in a certain. We have no addenda. We stop when we see something interesting, a good restaurant, shop or brewery. This time we found this cool distillery. The man that creates and runs the show was behind the bar. He took us on a tour and educated us in their operation. So fun and interesting. The selection of liquor was interesting and of course we left with a few bottles.

Aaron making an amazing drink the smoked old fashioned. Highly suggested

The margaritas are amazing. Aaron was my server and he made an great drink while giving a great conversation. The smoked old fashioned which I have a picture of is definitely something you need to experience.

I went searching for a non chain bar or restaurant to support and was shocked to see that Lakewood CO of all places had a local distillery and just had to try it. It honestly exceeded my expectations as I originally planned on coming in for one drink but left after trying 3 because it was so good. My first drink was the Coffee, God and Cigarettes. This drink offered a well-balanced blend of bitter and sweet notes, both light and flavorful. The tobacco finish is present but not overpowering, making for a very enjoyable overall experience. The 2nd drink I got was the old fashioned.... Which was made with both whiskey and rum in it which left me a bit nervous to actually order it. But don't let the rum fool you, this is a classic-tasting delicious Old Fashioned. Ironically, the rum has more traditional whiskey character than their white whiskey (which tastes like scotch). If you like Old Fashioneds, you'll find this version delicious. I finished with the Serrano Cucumber Gimlet. It features a fresh cucumber essence and a well-balanced, subtle heat. A unique and excellent twist on the classic. All the in house spirits were great, Cameron the bartender on shift was able to answer any and all questions I had, the drinks were great and the atmosphere was wonderful. I'd definitely recommend giving this Lakewood distillery a shot

They do tours and tastings, but we usually choose from their great variety of cocktails. They have a rotating specials list and I've had some of the best cocktails from their many different concoctions. We love coming here for the casual, laid back vibe and pinball! They have about 10 different machines and change up every so often. They also have a big bookcase of what seems like every game you can imagine. We haven't played any of those because we come for the pinball, but a cool spot to relax with a drink and play some games with your group. There's plenty of seating with a variety of tables for small to large groups. They have standing pub tables and a lounge area with a comfy couch as well as some outdoor seating on their back patio. They also serve food and have daily specials. We're a big fan of the sidewinder fries. The bartenders are great - attentive, friendly, and prompt with their service. We Mad Rabbit. *only thing I would ding is that their pinball machines often need some service

This space creates a magical moment for a couple's date night, girls' gathering, happy hour with your coworkers and so on. It was an occasion for me and my adult daughter just yesterday. She and I get together as a family which we traditionally do almost monthly to celebrate "us" and we were glad that we chose the Family Jones Spirit House for the very occasion as there was no element that disappointed us. Ambiance: The sleekness that is common when described as "chic", the high-end design is well-incorporated into the space throughout. Despite its way of being high-end contemporary however, the place emits a very inviting cozy feel. The whole place is enhanced by the soft lighting. Overall, the whole place has an elegant image of "cocktail lounge". Drinks and bites (on the menu): They have great ideas to concoct unique cocktails using their current lineup of whiskey/bourbon/gin/vodka. We could easily go for something typical such as wine but we were like "Why would we want to do that at a place like Family Jones?" We started out with one of the Espresso Martinis (Cinnamon Bun) and Early Grey Negroni. After a good few to several bites (House Salad which was a good portion; simple and yet refreshing, Spicy Herb & Cheese; its spiciness was well-manageable, Antipasto Plate was also generously portioned with healthy choices), we concluded our night by another drink, which was Lohi Rising (absolutely an excellently made cocktail out of the whole menu). Most of the items we ordered were discounted by $1 or $2 due to the fact that we were able to order in before the Happy Hour end time of 6pm. Even with the regular pricings, however, the menu items are reasonably priced. I forgot our waitstaff's name but she was able to assist us with great suggestions when we asked her which ones to order especially the drinks. She was the only person who was mostly walking around the whole dining area (the other staff was mainly in charge of the bar but he once came out and asked me if I needed anything before my daughter's arrival.) Not to mention: the hardworking kitchen staff who prepared our dishes should not be forgotten for all the amazing chef skills. Denver's LoHi neighborhood hosts a good number of contemporary restaurants. Other big names might overshadow this cocktail lounge/restaurant but despite the overwhelming elements, Family Jones Spirits House's position to quietly serve as a humble restaurant is worth a mention. So if you are looking for a special place for a special occasion, go here. You will be pleasantly surprised with what they offer you.

The Spirit House is where they create and refine their spirits and cocktails, and the attention to detail really shows in the drinks. We tried several from their winter menu and each one was interesting and well balanced. Standouts included the LoHi Rising, which had Earl Grey and citrus notes with a creamy foam, and the Après-Pear Marg, which combined tequila, rum, and spiced pear in a really smooth way. The Salt & Vinegar Martini was also memorable and came with a pickled potato that made it even more fun. The Alpine Glow was lighter and refreshing with hibiscus and citrus. We also ordered some food to go with the drinks. The grilled cheese with soup and the pretzel bites were perfect for a cold winter day and paired nicely with the cocktails. If you enjoy thoughtful cocktails and a relaxed atmosphere, The Family Jones Spirit House is always worth a visit.
