The State Room is the bar that lives right upstairs leading to a great balcony view of the stage. Beer is served downstairs, but come upstairs for some fantastic cocktails featuring State 38 Distilling's local spirits. Mitch made me a very tasty Old Fashioned which I'm pretty sure is my new go-to if my fave whiskey mule isn't available. Last Friday I got invited to check out State 38 Distilling in Golden, CO, and lemme tell ya, these people know what they're doing. You can find State 38 products being served all around Golden and sold at their distillery. Stop by their tasting room to try one (or more) of their spirits and hear about the distilling process while you drink! I tried two of their summer cocktails, the Whiskey Smash and Singapore Sling. The Whiskey Smash is perfect for any whiskey lover, and the Singapore Sling is a great fruity, gin based drink that practically tastes like juice! We were lucky enough to have Don, the owner, as our bartender, and we learned a lot from picking his brain about business and the 10 types of spirits they have to offer!

We each enjoyed a glass of La Crema Chardonnay ($13) and shared the Three Amigos appetizer ($13), which comes with tortilla chips, house queso, guacamole, and roasted tomato-jalapeño salsa, along with the Corn and Butternut Enchiladas ($17). At first, I thought the house queso was a little too spicy for my taste, but it quickly grew on me--I couldn't stop dipping chips into it! It was rich, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of the meal. The guacamole and salsa were also fresh and tasty. The Corn and Butternut Enchiladas were good, though not quite as memorable. I ordered mine with regular cheese instead of the vegan option. The patio was comfortable, and the location made for an enjoyable lunch stop. Just be aware that Washington Avenue is busy, so there is plenty of traffic noise. Overall, we'd stop here again.
