How have I not rated this place yet? I LOVE this bar. I drive or uber from the O Park area of Denver sometimes just to go here and have a great time. The tattooed bartender with the throat tattoo is an absolute smoke show and always helps me out when I show up. Just a great place to be all around. read more

3 years later, we came back to Golden and just had to stop by again. Nothing has changed -- and that's a good thing! Still the same amazing dive bar with a great atmosphere. We love this place! read more

They'll add drinks to your tab. Had 1 beer, got charged for 5. Then they'll blame the victim as if they did something wrong. Don't go. Or pay with cash. read more

We stayed a block away for a Bachelorette and I'm not going to lie, we ended up here every night. Cheap drinks, open late, karaoke. What was not to love? A fantastic party spot, was a good time every time. read more

I have too much fun every time I go to the ace. People are amazing and it's crowded but not too bad. They also have karaoke. The bathroom only has one stall so it gets crowded. read more

Ace-Hi Tavern - a bar with a lot of glasses on the counter - Dive Bars Near Me - Golden, Colorado

Was in on a Friday at 1pm. Seated ourselves in a booth and was completed ignored. Had to go to the bar to order which is fine, but the waitress was on her cell phone the whole time and didn't come to our booth at all. Shit service when it wasn't even busy. Spend your time and money elsewhere read more

I wish I could say this place is great, but alas. The service, and this is coming from a server, is abysmal. My friend and I left at 1:30 when lights came on. Realized a debit card was left. We called at 1:40. The woman answered, yelled "CLOSED" and hung up the phone. We tried to call again they answered, we spoke, they hung up the phone. We aren't from golden, so the drive there and back is a huge hassle when not going for a reason. We played the call and hang up game for another 5 minutes. 1:52 am we arrive back at the bar. Every employee is standing there, I can physically hear them saying "oh she's here for her card" and talking about the situation before yelling through the door "we are closed! Come back at 8 am!" Posted hours being open to 2:00 am. I deeply get it, we are tired. Want to go home, serving drunk customers all night. We both had two beers each. That's it. We just forgot a card and now have to take an hour to drive back to Golden because the bar refused to let us retrieve the card. Food: 1/5 | Service: 1/5 | Atmosphere: 1 read more

We popped in after enjoying a concert nearby. A busy place, good for business. The Bartender was very attentive to the needs of her customers which is a plus. It's close by so it's convenient to stop in before ending our day. Friendly service and a happy friendly experience. Thank you. read more

If I could leave zero stars, I would. Horrible experience last Sunday afternoon.....The bartender was obviously intoxicated; we could not even get her attention. I have been coming to the Ace for years, as I live in Evergreen. I have always had a great experience...until Sunday. We noticed that the bartender was paying special attention to one table, which seemed to be positioned right next to the bar. I brought friends from out of town, raving about how cool and fun the Ace is......they were NOT impressed. We could not even order a drink and ended up at the Buffalo Rose. Sad to say I will never come in during weekend days. read more

Attentive bartenders, simple space, and friendly patrons. I'll go back next time I'm in Golden

Perfect local dive bar. Tourists who want a Disney-fied drinking environment probably won't care for it, but if you want genuine local color, this is the place. read more

Ace-Hi Tavern - a pint of beer - Dive Bars Near Me - Golden, Colorado

No frills, no fuss. Ace-Hi Tavern is a quintessential dive. Golden is lucky to have a place like this in the heart of downtown. 50 years young with no signs of slowing down! We walked in to a lively Saturday night crowd around 8pm. The entire female crew behind the stick were hustling. They were cranking out drinks faster than you could ask for one. Seriously, my Dale's Pale and the lady's whiskey ginger instantaneously appeared in our hands. What else happened while we were here? Karaoke was in full swing. Hot dogs were appearing out of the blue behind the bar. The 6'5 bouncer was fun to watch. The registers went down. Customers were inebriated and doing entertaining things. These are all things dive bars require. Ace-Hi Tavern, yeah I like you. Cheap drinks and lively atmosphere, what else do you want? Sit down, get a beer, and make a new friend! read more

Ace-Hi Tavern - Bar - Dive Bars Near Me - Golden, Colorado

Cool bar, great ambiance. Karaoke was a blast and the crowd was so much fun. Lots of laughing and smiles all around. Downside was that the bartenders were really, really rude. Eye rolling, huffing and slammed the glasses on the bar when we ordered drinks. Both of them were clearly not happy to be there and very put out to get our orders. I'm not sure why because it was a really fun crowd. Still had a great night there despite of it but I'm not sure I'd come back because of that. read more

Popped into Ace-Hi for post-hike beverages and loved it! Fantastic divey spot on the main drag. It feels like home away from home, and I'll add it's very clean and cozy! read more

We stopped here for a bit to kill some time before heading to Arvada. For some reason, we decided to get Green Tea shots with our beers. Very lively crowd for a Saturday afternoon. The table seating was VERY comfortable and the heat felt nice as well. Friendly people who loved my NC State hoodie. read more

This was the first place we found open for a drink in the morning. We checked it out while we waited for the Coors Brewery Tour to open. It's walking distance, which was prime. They serve pints of Coors for like $2 on Friday mornings! Great deals. Cool dive spot. Seems like a nice mix of locals/tourists, young/old, etc. Everyone was friendly, but especially our barkeep. She was extremely outgoing, nice and even gave us advice on what to do on our day in Golden. We loved her and the tavern so much that we came back again later in the day! read more

Ace-Hi Tavern - Dive Bars Near Me - Golden, Colorado

Came in to get drinks with a friend, not only did the people actually older than me not get alcohol in their vodka redbull, we all watched the bar tender pour half a redbull and then fill it up with the handheld with tonic water. Not sure if she thought we were all underaged but our group was all 23+. Looks shitty considering we are normals. Will not be returning read more

This place rocks! Our group of 12 stopped by for cocktails prior to dinner. The 2 bartenders were awesome and kept our large group satisfied with excellent service and I tried a new NA beer called Coors Edge based on their recommendation!! I'm hooked on Edge now, thanks ladies (Lisa and ?). Gave them a nice tip to thank them. We will definitely go back!!! read more

stopped by here after the coors tour with my dad we had a blast, got served fast, awesome bartender, and great prices !!

I don't know how to explain it but something just happens at this bar. Its terrifying and magical. It takes your mind and puts it aside for you and honestly you don't get a say in it. You don't need a mind here. Ace-Hi knows best. It just pulls you into its zone, hard to describe. You have to be ready for it. A few weeks ago we went and my mind went straight into the abyss and we had the best time singing karaoke I think. Met so many new friends. We forgot the credit card there and we were so wrecked we couldn't make it back to get it til 7pm the next day. Turns out we ordered 13 well vodkas ... sounds about right. Felt about right. No regrets for me, maybe from my liver though. Anyway Bartenders were fantastic and We'LL be back read more

Bad ass bar! Dog friendly, great music (depending on who feeds the jukebox). Bartender Lisa owns the room. Great upbeat dive bar. Stop by for strong cheap drinks. read more

The divey-er the better and this one is pretty divey. Three star is like a five star in dive bar world. Stiff drinks, sticky floor, interesting bathrooms and on and off key karaoke. Golden. (No pun intended since this is in Golden.) The keep was fast and friendly but not too friendly because too friendly takes away from the dive bar experience. We went on Saturday and it was packed. Plan to wait a bit especially if there is a karaoke night. Large booths (maybe only one or two), medium booths, and bellying up at the bar. Seedy and I loved every minute of it. read more

Thanks his is one of best Dive Bars I've been to. We went here for an after party from the wedding reception. The bartender rocked. She was fast and friendly. The quintessential image a "True" bartender. They had karaoke which was entertaining and fun. The doorman/bouncer was friendly and kept a safe, fun environment. Even though we were all dressed in formal wear and there wear about 20-30 of us there, the locals were friendly. We all had a great time. read more

Very rude staff. My card was charged several times after only getting one drink. When I tried to dispute it with them they got prideful and wouldn't own up to there mistake. Very unprofessional, not recommending this place to anyone. read more

Cheap beer, pool and pinball, a jukebox are all the right combos for killer dive bar! Service was slow but looked like they only had 1 bartender. Place was clean and had spotless bathroom. The only thing that would make this place even better... a popcorn machine! read more

Best local place in Golden. Everyone is soooo friendly and the drinks are great. My favorite is Homey Jack in Tao. Yummy. Recommend highly to check it out. read more

Still the classic dive bar. I have hung out on the patio with my dog for years now. Michele is the best but they're all hard working no nonsense bartenders. You'll almost always make new friends here or at least good conversation with locals or visitors of all ages. The bad news - there's a quilt store (I am not kidding...) opening next to it and the patio will be reduced to about half its current size which will SUCK. My hangout since living nearby the last couple years and yes it's a sort of dive bar in the classic sense. You don't get all uppity at the Ace! I love it because the lady bartenders all love dogs, get to know you and your preferred beverage, are friendly when not overrun, and just make it that 'where they know your name' kind of experience. Same for the patrons and they are a TRULY varied bunch. Not many below 30 (maybe at night, I only do afternoons there mostly). Bikers, tourists, regular folk, old timers (like me) etc. Come on down and hang out on the patio especially on a weekend afternoon. Watch the world go by, pet the dogs, make some new friends. You won't regret it. read more

Nothing like a night out at the Ace. Open late 2 happy hours daily

Awesome dive bar. Great atmosphere, bartenders and locals. Great service and cheap beer. How can you beat that. Can't wait to go back.

Bartender is so mean, I came In over age with my over aged friend and the bartender refused to serve us anything for no reason. Horrible place. Do not come unless you want to be abused. If I could give one star I would. She just decided no. read more

My friend and I wandered into this bar because we both love a good dive bar and they advertised $1 drinks. Turns out it was karaoke night. Let me tell you - there were some AMAZING singers in that evenings line up! Bartenders were very friendly, as was door staff. The owner was friendly to some people, but not to me. ‍ Maybe I have RBF. We will definitely be back. Maybe again for the fantastic karaoke singers, maybe for trivia, but we had a blast. read more

We were meeting some friends for lunch at Woody's across the street and had arrived a half an hour too early. "Oh no!", we thought, "What ever will we do with ourselves?!?". So we Yelped up the nearest watering hole and Ace Hi was clearly the spot. We figured it was Saturday around noon, so Bloody Marys were probably in order. We sidled up to the bar and ordered two. The place is rather narrow and long - typical of old western town construction, and hosted a bevy of local regulars - a few of them clearly well on their way to Tipsyville. A delightful gal brought us our libations. Delicious. One of the better Bloody's I've had in a while. Within moments, a friendly banter was struck up between us and a couple of old timers. Good times. Ok, this is not meant to be a story... Good drinks, gracious people, great prices. This tavern is Aces! read more

I was here on a Saturday afternoon during Happy Hour. The Ace-Hi Tavern has a great Happy Hour every day between 4 and 7:00 PM - that doesn't exclude weekends like a lot of bars. $1.75 for select pints / $6 for a pitcher. They have a great outdoor seating area right on Washington St. They've posted signs warning that "table service" might be a little hit or miss on the patio and giving you the option of going inside to get your drinks which is what I did. Service inside was extremely prompt and courteous - the ladies at the bar where quite friendly. I was there only for drinks and can't attest to their food offerings. It is, however, a great drink to sit on the patio and to enjoy a beer while watching the sights. read more

This is definitely a dive bar. We came to visit from California, first time in Colorado. Great service, Michelle the bar tendre was great. The bar was almost empty when we got here but it got pretty busy in an hour and she was able to handle a full bar all by herself and she never seemed frazzled. The bloody Mary was delicious read more

Please don't ever change this bar as there aren't many bars like this left. In the center of Golden,CO and a true gem of a place. Dive bar - cheap and very friendly. Great beers and service. Oddly, great pizza although they admit they are frozen and heated up!!! read more

Visited early in the morning - horrible service. Will not be coming back here anytime soon. Beer was good and affordable.

Worst service in Golden. I stood assertively at the bar for 10 minutes without any recognition of my presence. Multiple other patrons were served before me who arrived after me. But, it looks like a fun dive bar with cheap beer. read more

Great service. Good drinks, great band, awesome service, etc. What more do you want? Very friendly and welcoming place.

My favorite bar in Golden CO and the mirror image of my favorite bar in St Pete FL - Mastry's only beer is colder and cheaper at Ace-Hi! I was in on Thursday afternoon after Coors Brewery tour and bottles were $2.25! TouchTunes is awesome! read more
