I would give Talia 2.5 stars if I could. I was a bit disappointed as I was expecting a quality experience based on the many good reviews. The food was mediocre and my wine was terrible, it tasted like it was water down. Every drink that was order from the bar was poorly made. This was my first time here and it was a Wednesday... so it could have been a fluke. We really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. It's a nice place to enjoy a special occasion or a first date. My party ordered the Antipasti Platter, Tagliatelle, and Cannelloni. Everything was only okay. The sauce used for the pasta was bland... I was expecting better as this is an Italian restaurant. Pittsburgh overall has better Italian options. read more

First time we visited! Cute spot, kind of loud (although I feel like every restaurant is like that), the food was delicious, the wine list was great, but the service was just ok which is disappointing. We very much enjoyed the focaccia with pistachio honey butter (omg!), meatballs and arugula salad, followed by the shrimp and crab gnocchi, vodka rigatoni and mushroom cannelloni. Really great pasta! read more

Came here to celebrate my cousins graduation. They have live music when we arrived. Great ambiance with dimly lit lighting and high ceilings. They have an open kitchen and serve some great classic Italian dishes. We ordered everything from the mixed antipasta, burrata, seafood hotpot, duck breast, veal cannelloni, tagliatelle, and the seafood gnocchi. All of the pastas here were fresh. Great textures and the flavors were on point. The duck breast is a must order. Very large portion and the duck was cooked perfectly. The cannelloni was one of our other favorites. The sweet pepper jam and slowly braised veal were perfect with every bite. Everything here was perfect. You can tell the chefs are particular about every dish. Our cannelloni was stuffed with veal and each of our seafood hotpots were filled with plenty fresh seafood. You get great value with the price and portion sizes here. Even with a busy restaurant our food came out in a timely manner. Definitely save some room for dessert. The chocolate mousse cake and affogato were definitely worth it. read more

Great food, great service, great fun! Short walk from Marriott City Center. Nightcap at The Speakeasy at William Penn Hotel across the street! Great night!! read more

Literally the most delicious meatball I have ever eaten. The arugula salad was also fresh and full of flavor. My only request next time (and there will be many!) is to use a bit less dressing on the salad. Great wine selection as well. Thank you to an awesome bartender, Sean, who was cool, attentive and still professional enough to let me enjoy the full meal experience. read more

I've been trying to visit this cute little Italian spot downtown for a long time now, and finally was able to snag a table last night after the JazzLive event (free summer tuesday jazz concerts downtown...check them out!). The patio is reserved for walk-in seating, and it's lovely! Even though it's right on the street, the plants and walls around it keep the cars from affecting the ambiance. Now to the food...and oh my goodness it was delicious! The roast duck pizza was divine and I already can feel myself craving it today! The burrata & focaccia appetizer was also a perfect representation of what a soft, salty burrata should be. Both were perfect sharing size as well and very reasonably priced. The summer cocktail list includes various versions of the classic aperol spritz, including the hibiscus which was my favorite! Some of the others were too sweet for me (such as the "planet of the grapes" cocktail). Talia also has a nice wine list (although a bit overpriced). I will definitely be back! Excellent food and service, love the atmosphere! We ordered Prime rib, rigatoni with vodka sauce and their seafood risotto special. Got the Talia pizza and broccolini apps. Everything was a 10/10! read more

This is a good restaurant for fresh pasta dishes. Seems to be a hot spot for the after work cocktail crowd and the hockey fans for Pittsburgh Penguin's pre-game dinners. We had a delightful meal at very reasonable prices. Our server Kasey B. was helpful and charming. Everything was very fresh and had a nice presentation. We especially liked the entree serving plates. We had the baked brie, Sicilian pizza, rigatoni and gnocchi ( cheese no potato- Gnocchi di Formaggio). The restaurant interior has a lovely modern decor, but the only downside was it seemed like the restrooms needed more attention. Overflowing waste basket and dirty toilet. If you are staying in the downtown area of Pittsburgh I would highly recommend giving them a try. It is a stones throw from the iconic William Penn hotel and a short walk from most other large chain hotels. Buon appetito! read more

Chef Nick was great. Not just from a food perspective but talked to my daughter and myself while we sat at the chef table tops. Waiter was great too along with the general vibe at the restaurant. Rigatoni with sausage and pizza was top notch! Would gladly come back if downtown Pittsburgh read more

My favourite restaurant in Pittsburgh. I come here every time I'm in town and it's always a treat. The seafood linguine special was all it promised and more at a pretty reasonable price. Personal side note. If some Karen could sue Olive Garden for sore gums after accidentally eating a shrimp tail that would be awesome! That needs to finally go away from the whole world. read more

This was a great find, thanks to Yelp. I was searching for something close to my hotel and this spot came up. The bar area was nice. It was both crowded and low-key. The bartenders were amazing. Very friendly, helpful, and attentive. I wound up going with the special that night - a bone-in ribeye steak with mushrooms, asparagus, and potatoes. It was delightful. read more

I came in not very hungry and ate everything we ordered! The food was excellent. They only had walk in availability at the Chef's Table. So that is what we got. It's basically a bar/counter seating area by the kitchen. Next time I will remember to make a reservation. As you can see from the picture, the restaurant is full. They will make a spaghetti and meatballs for kids (not listed on menu). The spaghetti was a little 'al dente' but it was very good. So I guess it depends on your preference for how you like it. The arugula salad with fig and honey dressing (not shown) was executed perfectly. The mussel and clams in the seafood small plate was really good. The spicy sausage in the sauce had a nice kick. The brussel sprouts with pork belly was very tasty. I would definitely eat here again. read more

I got to sit outside on a nice night, the city lights and the outdoor seating was wonderful. The food was delicious, I ordered the focaccia with pistachio honey butter which wasn't my favorite but the salad and pasta was delicious. I would say the service felt a little lackluster, servers didn't have good energy and certainly weren't able to reciprocate. read more

My adorable husband booked this for our 16th wedding anniversary. It is conveniently located in the heart of downtown and has both indoor and outdoor seating. We got an indoor booth by the window. We opted to start with a small plate (meatballs) and they were delicious then we each got a pizza. My husband's dish was one of their 2 specials that night - duck pizza. He raved about how good it was! Our host and waiter were both attentive and kind. We had such an enjoyable experience there. read more

Talia is a relaxed Italian bistro eatery smack dab in downtown Pittsburgh. A mix between an osteria and trattoria, Talia is an easygoing sort of place where you can lunch or late evening dine. I enjoyed a nice Sicilian Angelo on the concrete patio with an accompanying risotto. All and all - Very pleasant and enjoyable. The most impressive element of the restaurant - in my opinion - is the extensive wine menu. A nice selection of everyday pours and celebratory bottles. They also have a full bar with a number of interesting cocktails. I like this place and I will definitely stop back on my next trip to the Steel City. read more

Let me just say sit at the bar! If you have Paris helping the bartender, then you're in luck. I'm not sure the bartender's name and I'm sorry I don't know, but he had a beard. This guy can make drinks! Your money will be well spent. I'm serious- perfect drinks! Get the charcuterie...get brussels sprouts with pork belly. Then, go see the symphony in downtown Pittsburgh. What a wonderful night thank you Talia. read more

This is probably the best Italian restaurant in downtown Pittsburgh. The staff is extremely hospitable and the food is hands down the best of the best. My husband had the crab cakes and he said his dish was the best crab cakes he has ever had. They have a great list of seasonal cocktails as well. It's also a great place to stop and have a drink before penguin games due to the proximity to PPG Arena. read more

I have no complaints about our experience at Talia. From the drinks to the Italian menu options are experience was great. I recommend making reservations but they do take walk-ins. My wife and I and two friends were fortunate to receive seats on the end of the counter facing the kitchen. Perfect for watching and smelling the food being prepared. We had the chef's tasting dinner: fingerling poptatoes (no spelling error) for the appetizer, burrata for the first course, amazing risotto for course two, and black angus strip with mushrooms, leeks, Sun chokes, and garlic for the third course. Each course was paired with a different Italian wine, from sparkling to Tuscan red. For the dessert course we were served gelato with an Cardamaro aperitif to drown it in! Chef Nick Senske was friendly, attentive, and informative. Our server Erin was super. This was my first time trying Talia. The service was great and the ambience a homey vibe. We shared a number of items from the menu. Sausage pizza and meatballs were outstanding song. The broccoli I was prepared really well. Veal cutlet and gnocchi sounded great but the veal was not so tender, perhaps a bad cut of meat. The gnocchi was well prepared. I would give it another shot. read more

I popped in for lunch while staying at the Omini across the street. Place was rather quiet. The food and service is really good. The Vodka sauce pasta is very tasty as was the Salmon. It's cooked perfect with great side. The best thing I had was the Watermelon Italian Soda. Holly Molly was it tasty. Refreshing and hits the spot. It would probably be good with a splash of Vodka. My group really enjoyed our time at Talia! You must start out with some focaccia bread as an app. There are different kinds to choose from. I don't think you could go wrong with any choice. I am such a sucker for a beet salad. I order one anytime I see it on a menu! Everyone in my group had a different entree and everyone really loved their food. The service was great and so were the drinks. I'd love to go back and try the pizza! Talia is very close to PPG so if you want to go before a game or show at the arena, you could walk there but I would suggest making a reservation, as it isn't very big inside. read more

We had a fantastic girls night here and ordered nearly every pasta on the menu to share and try. The fantastic smorgasbord of carbs that was so worth it! The focaccia was also delectable. First cocktail I tried was the Maker's Mark Manhattan (can't really go wrong there) and the second is the Serata Autunno with Tito's Vodka, which was light, kind of sweet, & definitely refreshing. I need to get back here for another great meal. It's perfect for warming up with a hearty meal during the colder months! read more

I'd like to give Talía four stars, but the food just couldn't get there. It's an attractive place with a lively bar. Service was very good. The only food we ordered was two different pasta dishes. Mine was pretty good, but the other was very undercooked, requiring a redo. The sauce for both was good, mine with meatballs, chicken, and banana peppers and the other with sausage. We had nice martinis and a bottle of primitivo, although I feel like I was overcharged based on the per-glass price. We'll probably go back and give it another try, but the attraction is not strong. read more

Happy Hour here is fun because they have decent discounts on beverages. Food here is ok. I mean sometimes that's all it is, just ok. Other times it's really good. However, more times than not it has been just ok. And honestly the food has been better at places that charge a lot less. I've been here for lunch and dinner and the sub-par quality that sometimes exists is apparent at either time. I have had dried out meats and pastas and it seems to me like the food sits and then is thrown in a microwave to warm it. If I wanted that I could just buy a can of Spaghetti-Os and eat them at home. read more

We got takeout from here while we were having a staycation across the street at the Kimpton - super easy to order and pickup - they are following all protocols for service during Covid. Very delicious and convenient since it's right across the street. Hubby wanted the olive appetizer which truly sounded soooo boring but man were they tasty. I didn't know it was served warm and also with some onions and some kind of spices that were so addicting. Don't sleep on ordering these - you'll be pleasantly surprised! The lamb was tender and cooked perfectly and the raviolis that were a special was so flavorful - really enjoyed everything. read more

Had a delightful NYE dinner at Talia! The scampi was to-die-for and topped with both shrimp & salmon. Both were perfectly cooked. Overall, this was a meh experience. The service was mediocre. I was thinking about getting a second drink with dinner but she didn't come back. This was my first time visiting Talia. My fiancé and I had our monthly date night here. We did not have reservations (highly recommend getting one especially on the weekend) and we're able to sit at the chefs bar which was a unique experience! We started with the homemade focaccia and it was delicious! We added the burrata on the side and it was a great pairing. I ordered an Italian soda with ginger and it was refreshing and delicious. My fiancé ordered the Negroni and that was great as well. We ordered the orecchiette pasta and beef braciole. Both were delicious! There was a good amount of food and we took leftovers home. The food was good Italian for Pittsburgh. Elevated but still felt relaxed. The ambiance was great! If you like moody low light--you'll enjoy Talia. The service was great. We stumbled upon this restaurant while on a shopping trip downtown, and so glad we did! The atmosphere was really cool- awesome rustic/chic decor and laid back vibe. For lunch we had a roasted vegetable sandwich that came with a creamy tomato soup with chickpeas- the flavors were incredible (this was the best part of the meal!), a small pepperoni pizza, and a chicken salad. We all shared plates and loved everything. Of course we had to try some desserts- we had the gelato and the flourless chocolate cake. Both excellent!
