For a dive bar, this was a great bar! Although, upon walking in, you are smacked in the face with the whiff of weed. We stopped in here for our last adventure of the night. We always like to drink local beers so hubs ordered us those and I found a table in the back. It was a good spot but it was so busy and loud that we could barely hear each other. There were televisions all over so you can watch basically anything you want. They had music playing and it was very lively. I am not sure if they had food or not and I do not recall smelling any. The bathrooms were okay and they were definitely not modern. The lighting was good and there was enough space throughout the place. No one was socializing with us but seemed to be everywhere in Pittsburgh. read more

Wanted to catch last Sunday's 1:00pm games at a bar that served food prior to heading out for our Jets tailgate, but they all had lines out the door, so we settled on just getting drinks at this dive bar along the strip. Was standing room only when we walked in, but we snagged a couple of stools at the bar in short order. Bartendress was no nonsense and efficient. Our vodkas and sodas were strong. Cash only. The bartendress even told a patron to leave because he couldn't come up with cash for his shot. Took the shot back right out of his hand before he could drink it and threw it down the sink. Impressive. And the Men's Restroom artwork reminded me of the long defunct CBGB's in Manhattan. One of the most authentic old school Pittsburgh natives and Steelers bars on the strip! The drinks are cheap, strong....and the bar is full of good vibes and great people. Not to mention, they offer semi-strong long islands for $4 all day, It's sort of a premixed concoction that's just okay in my opinion. Nothing to rave about...but enough to lure you in for price and continue to get you in for more libation. lol Lefty's is a nice and fun hangout spot for friends for sure.and a great way to get into the mix of Pittsburgh natives (people from the surrounding area). The bar is a pretty narrow space and gets packed pretty quickly, but it is a great space to watch sports and chat with people. There is not a lot of seating space as the space is relatively small, but it is still comfortable while standing. Although crowded, the bartenders are quick and efficient with drink orders. If only they sold food, this spot would be perfect. However, there are several shops and restaurants along the strip to grab a bite to eat. In all, cool little dive bar in the heart of the Strip District of Pittsburgh. Also a great vibe and place to meet up with friends for a few drinks or a pit stop while site seeing the downtown area. Best dive bar ever! My boyfriend and I walked by this place and stopped in for what we thought would be a quick drink. We ended up staying for several because we enjoyed ourselves so much. Our bartender was friendly and provided fast service. She knew how to make a good drink. I ordered my usual which is greygoose and cranberry. I was surprised to find out it was only $5, that never happens anywhere. SCORE! The bar is definitely on the dive side which is what makes it so great. Loved lefty's!!!! It was too busy when I went during the day. They had bumpin music so it really got me in the mood to have fun. The drinks are also insanely cheap. I love to vibe in general. It seemed like everyone was your friend even if they didn't know you. As it got closer to the Steelers game, it got so much busier. It was a lot of fun! The perfect dive bar. Concrete floors, no food, bottled beer and Liqour only. Wine? You better quit whining!!! They don't have any. Cheap prices?? Literally don't understand how they survive with such cheap prices!!! Every time I'm here I ask myself if they missed things or didn't ring things in because it's always so cheap. If we are being honest here, Lefty's is hands down one of my favorite dive bars to grab a cheap drink. It's conveniently located in the Strip district, and a quick ride from Lawrenceville, downtown, and many other neat places to go if you're out on the town for the day or for the night. When your work schedule doesn't really allow you to take advantage of happy hour specials, Lefty's comes in handy with $4 Strong Islands and $5 Bloody Marys. The Strong Islands don't taste like anything you'd find at a sit-down restaurant, but you get a bang for your buck. I've spent many afternoons and evenings hanging out toward the back of the bar, where there is a pool table, dartboard and a little more space to spread out if you are in a group. One of my favorite visits was last summer during a daytime festival in the Strip. I was with a friend and his mom and we had no idea where to go, but we were pumped up and ready to have a good time. We decided on Lefty's and were greeted with live music and an atmosphere that could crack a smile from even the most uptight person. The bartenders were interacting with everyone and no one was left out. To me, great experiences like that are what makes a bar like Lefty's worth stopping by. Lefty's is the Strip Districts answer to Jacks on the South Side- not as big of a selection of alcohol, not the 'colorful' patrons we're used to at Jacks but a certain 'chill' vibe that makes it a welcome 'quick stop' for a beer during a shopping trip. And now- on to my review... Nitty, gritty, dirty bar and WE LOVE IT...! It wasn't dirty in that it needed cleaned- it was dirty in the fact that the smoky air could be cut with a knife, and that's the way we like it when we are looking for a bar we can smoke in... the bartenders must get treated pretty well as we've been coming here on Saturdays every 6 months or so and we're always greeted by the same bartender. Lefty's is probably my favorite dive bar is Pittsburgh and a Strip District staple! Weather is a Sunday morning or Saturday night we always stop into Lefty's for a strong island! They do allow smoking so be prepared. They also have live music and a touch tunes! The strong islands are STRONG but it's always make for a fun time! Purple Hooters, White Russians, Jameson, Coors Lite... It sounds like an awesome buffet of adult beverages (but wait - there is more!) We stopped in this place after a great dinner. It was very quiet with a few patrons sitting at the bar. The fun factor was very high - the patrons were in good spirits. The bartender enjoyed our tom foolery. I cannot wait to go back to this place when there are people in the streets and more festive times (Steelers or Pens Game?). Service - Awesome. As far as dive bars go, Lefty's would be king of the castle. Centrally located in the heart of the Strip it's a nice place to pop in for a drink during a weekend of shopping. The strong tea for only $4 is serious business and does the trick. One is all you need. The Bloody Mary is comparable to one you can get at a high end bar/restaurant for brunch. But have I mentioned it's half the price? Only five bucks for a nicely spiced Bloody. Staff is friendly. Mixed crowd with every walk of life except (thankfully) hipsters. This is a great dive bar in the strip. Their Strong Island Iced Teas are no joke! I had two and was feeling GOOD. The bartender, Double D, was one of the nicest and friendliest bartenders I've had in a long time. He made it a point to introduce himself and took very good care of us during our visit.
