Because there was an adverisemwnt for a matcha so i ordered a matcha latte together with an almond croissant. I have to say the matcha latte was very disappointing. But overall it was alright for a coffee shop not specializing in pastry

This cafe merits repeat visits as I have enjoyed every item I ordered here. We especially liked their savory items such as breakfast sandwiches and the roast beef melt! Unfortunately, the lobster melt is no longer available on the menu or that would be my favourite. Bastion is a popular place for coffee drinkers to work on their laptops here, because there are outlets available by the round table area that looks into the gym. Service is quite efficient and they even offer free coffee grounds for your gardens when available. Hours of operation are great here, as it opens early and continues till dinner time. I ordered the roast beef melt sandwich which is their signature and popular item. Well deserved! It's flavorful and the beef is very soft. You can bite through it easily and there's no dryness at all. It's great if you prefer softer food or teeth are not strong. Lots of tables and seating area. It only got crowded when people sat around waiting for their fitness class. The only drawback was the parking. It was almost full! I was lucky to find a spot round the corner. I sure didn't expect it to be so busy. Reminded me of the busy parking lot at Hillcrest CC in Vancouver. Maybe I was there when there were many fitness classes or activities then. Good place to have a bite or coffee after your workout or to meet friends.

Used dishes and flatware disappear for the table without your conversation being interrupted. Food delivered with a beautiful smile and practiced elegant handling. Someone always watching the table for your slighted need. An elegant building with outside patio that sits along a creek. Fairy lights at night add to the charm. Understated elegance. Over the past year and a bit this has become one of our favourite breakfast places. But it is more…read morethan just a place for breakfast or brunch. It is also a fantastic spot to work if you wanna have a café setting because their pastries and bake goods are absolutely fantastic. In fact last year for Christmas, we bought one of their Christmas cake options which proved to be super popular with the family. What I love about this location is the decor. On one side it is a simple industrial warehouse. But it has that post modern feel with all of the live plants. The live plants is what I love and the tall ceiling for the plants to fully grow. Though if they are looking for something else, which could really bring this to the top, it would be to have a fish tank. A fish and or water feature around the massive plant island in the middle of the dinning area would be chefs kiss. Of course, what about the food? From here, I find the food here is excellent. Sometimes the flavour combinations are a little weird. But that's typical for the Vancouver foodie scene. Vancouver food scene is a fusion hybrid of local ingredients mixed with traditions from cultures from other places around the world. But the bottom line is the portions are a good size. The platters in particular are large and would feed a very hungry person. You definitely get your moneys worth. You don't get much table service once you are done with your order. But that is all right because of it size and volume for the amount of people who come through. I am totally happy with the self serve station, which could be enhanced and the large setting with all of the very mature plants. If I would offer advice to anyone it would be this. If you are going to be there on the weekend arrive before 9 AM. People start lining up at 10 to 15 minutes before the store officially opens. Plus I find is easier to take the street parking rather than playing with Faith trying to back out with customers who are not paying attention.

No problems there. The coffee selection is pretty decent. They also have cold (sweet) drinks. I had the V12 latte. They put a neat little teddy bear in the foam. Would've been cooler if they put a MB logo instead, but all good. The only complaint is that the car themed couches and regular couches are at different heights. So my friend and I were looking up and down at each other. Wouldn't mind coming back to enjoy the car themed ambience and maybe try a pastry.

Ate it with my family for dessert later that same evening. To be honest, I found it a bit underwhelming. I had really hoped for a much stronger coffee flavor, but I didn't really taste the coffee in this dessert. While I was there I saw that they also have Hojicha Tiramisu and Matcha Tiramisu. I was at first, very tempted to buy one of those to bring home as well, but decided to hold off on it as there's only so much my stomach and wallet can handle at a time. Now, after trying their regular Tiramisu I don't think I will bother going back for the Hojicha Tiramisu as I was a bit disappointed with the regular Tiramisu. Their drinks are good though. I would still go back for their drinks.

If you're looking for a variety of unique flavours in good pies and good service, the only hole you should be going into...is The Pie Hole! === 2. FOOD If you're looking for exotic and standard flavours of pies, The Pie Hole may have what you're looking for - frozen/fresh in 9" size, in a mini (4"?) format, or in a hand pie format (it's like a Stromboli). On this latest visit, we tried: Raspberry Cream Crumble ($32): one of the signature pies - a great dessert - a lot of raspberry with not-too-sweet cream in a thick, flaky crust. Bourbon Pecan Pumpkin Pie ($34): a neat twist on the traditional pumpkin pie with pecan crumble drizzled with bourbon - a nice touch indeed! Chicken Pot Pie ($7.50 hand pie): better than the Costco version - moist, yet just as thick and chunky! Turkey Dinner Pie ($43): like someone wrapped Thanksgiving dinner inside a pie: shredded turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce all in one - surprisingly good...but bring a little extra gravy/cranberry with you :) === 3. SERVICE The service was great on the phone and in-person. Easy pickup is available for pre-orders (especially during Thanksgiving), and service is good and fast for fresh/frozen pies you order in-person. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's really a storefront; walk down stairs to the retail level and be met with freezers containing pre-orders and a frozen pie selection, a fridge with mini pies, and a display case of fresh pies. It is spacious, but I would leave the wheelchairs and baby strollers behind given the descent into the retail area. Parking involves a spacious private lot (which is full on holidays).
