I won these free Pumpkin Buns from @groundsyvr and they were soooo good! They use the same cinnamon buns that they are famous for, but put a pumpkin spice frosting on top in place of the usual frosting. Mmm...absolutely heavenly! I had tried the regular cinnamon buns earlier this year from their Alma St. location. This location on Commercial Drive seems bigger to me, with more places to sit. To be honest, I can't even remember if there were any places at all to sit at Alma St. as I was in a bit of a rush to buy the buns and go when I was there. My gut instinct though, tells me that the Commercial Drive location is bigger. SENIOR UNFRIENDLY.....a working place I came to Grounds to have coffee with a friend and I did not mind waiting for a table until I realized some people were working there pretty continuously. I asked the staff and was told that it was equal for everyone. I was told there were seats outside. I asked why the people so obviously working were not directed there as I had no desire to sit outside that day. The place was packed inside. I replied that it is not equality if people stay here for hours working with one empty cup in front of them while others cannot sit. I stood for maybe 20 minutes before a non-working couple left and gave me a table. I counted 9 people working full tilt, some on computer and phone, doing their business or studies. Is this the new library, albeit with treats? I was also told by staff that some people stay for 8 hours. Wow! Meanwhile during busy times the place is definitely has to be take out only as no one is going to give you a seat. I think the lack of any meaningful policy at Grounds makes it SENIOR UNFRIENDLY. I tried to talk to the manager as I could see her. I asked an staff member to tell her I would like a word. She did not make any effort to come to me even though I was right there The employee said she was just leaving. What kind of management and lack of policy is driving this cafe? Walkable distance from Commercial Skytrain station - there is some parking nearby as well, but it is located on a very busy street. Wild Berry Cinnamon Buns: They have this as a seasonal flavour that does come back on rotation. I LOVE their cream cheese icing. House-made berry compote on top (blueberries, raspberries and blackberries). I got a 6-pack to-go and it is packed very well, there's a layer of plastic on the inside wrapping the buns, and then put into a cardboard box and bag so it stays fresh. Texture and flavour are perfect. I like their coffee as well (I got their oat milk latte). Highly recommend this place! read more

Last time we were on the "Drive", Grounds For Coffee stood out as " happening" and we sworn to return on a less caffeinated day. Months years later..,,,, On the "Drive" you can literally open a pest infested joint and people will still pack the place. The draw of the Drive is its tourist significance, a happy place if you will. Let's just say with its swanky bohemian woodsy artsy interior, Grounds For Coffee looks expensive. As noted by others, this is pricy. If you are looking for value, forget about it! A cup of coffee and cinnamon bun will set you back 10$ if you do not factor in tips. In late 2021, this is relatively high. Coffee is alright. Not better than your average Starbucks. The cinnamon bun was exceptionally underwhelming as it does not taste fresh despite their artful presentation. Overall it was not a positive experience food wise. However if you are like every other patron there hovering over a laptop checking your social media on your smartphone bunkering down for the next 12 hours, it is a comfortable place to be people watching, er I mean studying or working. Wanting to bring my wife and daughter for a treat in the morning, we stopped by Grounds for Coffee to introduce them to what many consider the best cinnamon buns in Vancouver. The timing of our visit couldn't be any better as we were able to also try their seasonal offering of the Pumpkin Spice Bun, as well as their regular cinnamon bun. We all agreed the pumpkin spice bun was the better of the two, but the regular one was no slouch at all. Both were fantastic and we found it was a combination of both the texture and not being overly sweet that really made them a hit. I'm not sure if I have had a better cinnamon bun, but I'm going to put these ones at the top of my list until proven otherwise. Tables are hard to come by at this location during prime hours. I absolutely love walking through the drive. One of my favourite spots is Grounds. Every time I enter, I'm always greeted by the wonderful staff. The atmosphere is clean and crisp, with plenty of tables that are socially distanced. There is also a cute little patio out front with a couple of tables. Grounds is a cafe that specializes in espresso and tea. My favourite drink is the Earl Grey tea with milk. I'm boring; I know, but the tea has a really nice flavour. If your not a tea drinker, they have a delicious caramel macchiato that is not to sweet, but in my opinion needs more caramel. Grounds also has an assortment of baked goodies like cookies, muffins and there famous cinnamon bun. I was lucky enough to try my first one as my birthday treat which included rainbow sprinkles on top. If you like cinnamon buns and it's your birthday go get one, if it's not get one anyway because they are amazing. Your welcome!! read more

I'm so happy that Grounds For Coffee opened a second location on the Drive (no need to trek to Kits). I went this morning to check out this new cafe. It has high ceilings, free wifi and of course their famous cinnamon buns. I ordered a black coffee, flat white and two cinnamon buns. The buns were nice and warm. It was sweet but not crazy sweet and moist inside. I really enjoyed it. The coffee was delicious. I like to have a bite of the bun and a sip of coffee to balance the flavour. But I wish they have some sort of designs on my flat white. I get turn off whenever I don't see any nice picture on my specialty coffee. Honestly, a blob of white foam is not appetizing. Lol ;) Prices were average. It is cashless, so bring your plastic. Service was very friendly. Definitely coming back whenever I crave for a cinnamon bun. read more

The cinnamon buns are TO DIE FOR! So good, worth every penny and the they are massive. Coffee I was not a big fan of, got a latte and really did not like it here. The service is such and they even have an app where you order from ahead of time and collect points for rewards.
