I waited to review until my second time having Taglio, but had an extremely similar experience. Delivery speed is delightfully quicker than estimated or anticipated. Love that they will deliver a bottle of wine as well. However, the pizza leaves something to be desired for the price. The NY style crust is fair to middling, nothing to write home about would wouldn't elicit a complaint from me on its own. But the Bianca pizza tastes like raw garlic. Every bite is hard to choke down due to the overwhelming taste- and this is coming from someone who LOVES garlic. It just needs tempering... And $4 for a little 2 teaspoon cup of honey is pretty unconscionable. read more

Went to check out Taglio OTR for some pizza. Very nice place for the young urban professionals and hipsters. Nice menu. Great atmosphere. The pizza was just not for me. I like more of a pizza sauce taste rather than tomato sauce. We got the small pepperoni and hot honey pizza. When it arrived one of our dinner companions said " aww that's cute". Yes it was small for the price. It tasted ok and we ate it all of course. I guess if you have never had good pizza then you may love this place. They had a pretty good crowd so I'm guessing they are doing something right. It just wasn't for me I guess. I saw a show at the Know Theatre with my wife and saw Taglio as I was walking back to our car. I'm glad we did, as I'll definitely be returning here in the future. Food: We started with the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. The order includes 4 hefty sized sticks with marinara dipping sauce. Probably some of the best mozzarella sticks I've had. They definitely don't seem like something out of the deep freezer at Costco. For our entree, we ordered the margarita Detroit style. So for a foodie, I'm disappointed to say I didn't really know what Detroit style pizza was, even having lived within 45 minutes of Detroit for 4 years. It's a thicker, deep dish style crust, but with super crunchy and cheesy edges. Think edge brownie piece but pizza form. Amazing pizza. For dessert, we shared some delicious gelato, which was a generous, sharable portion for $3. Service: We were greeted as soon as walked inside, and told to take a seat anywhere. Within seconds, water and menus were brought out to us. Our server kept checking in on us, and our food came out very quickly. Good pace to appetizers, entree and dessert, without ever feeling rushed. Facilities: Taglio is in OTR, which street parking and garage parking. The Taglio Location on 12th Street in OTR is centrally located in Cincinnati, a quick streetcar ride from downtown, stopped by on Saturday afternoon to enjoy their incredible Detroit style pizza. Lots of activity going on in the restaurant as the OSU vs. UC football game was on. A friend had friends in town and they wanted to try the best pizza in town and they weren't disappointed by Taglio - we started with drinks, which were served quickly, I enjoyed a great Westside Brewing Oktoberfest, nice and refreshing, another friend had Rhinegeist Bubbles and another enjoyed a mixed drink. We enjoyed a serving of their homemade mozzarella sticks the best in town, they are huge and the tomato sauce is so good. Then finally the main attraction the pepperoni and hot honey Detroit style pizza - not the Detroit style takes some time, as there's a lot of pizza to bake to perfection, but so worth it. You're stuffed after a piece or two, but you can't let it go to waste and you destroy it by the group eating the whole thing and its worth it. While on our road trip from Detroit we did some DSP exploration. Will all the positive reviews I was extremely disappointed. While it appeared to be quality ingredients it was a POOR execution. The "Small" was not a 8x10 4sq but something quiet smaller like 6x6. For a Detroiter this was a shock when they came to the table. For $15 each it's a NO go for me. The Small appeared to be parbaked where the Large was baked from raw. The large pictured was two toppings. The base pepperoni was $19 plus and addition $5 for sausage. Fhe large was actually lacking everything it needed to be DSP. Dry bottom and NO carmelized cheese. Was a good example of a Sicilian. Everything tasted good but the sauce lacks flavor. Was just crushed tomatoes w little to no flavor. Probably wouldn't go back as for the 3 smalls a large and some cheese bread our bill was $100 plus tip. read more

A small side of ranch is 2 dollars! I came for a pizza and the waitress asked if we needed anything else and I asked for a side of ranch. When the bill came we were charged 2 dollars for a side of ranch. The waitress should have said something about the charge because 2 dollars is crazy. We also got a tiny side of Parmesan cheese that we were charged 1 dollar for. Usually these things are free but beware. The pizza is fine but very expensive. Jets is better and a better price. We were in town to help my pick out her wedding dress. She found one and we went to Taglio for dinner. We went here because the rehearsal dinner is going to be at Pins Mechical (separate review) which is across the street. She had been here as had we and she was going to use them to caterer. Things started out fine. We order a small pepperoni and hot honey. The other couple ordered a medium margarita and we shared a caesar salad. We had 3 waters and one soda The water came in a carafe which was left at the table so we could refill our glasses. The salad was very good and enough for all of us to have a nice sized starter salad. Our small pepperoni and hot honey came out and they said the other one was coming right up. The pizza was good. The honey made it a little sweet (understandably) but it was not hot. Here is where things took a serious turn for the worst. I tried 3 times to get our waitress and she was clearly avoiding us. So it has been about 20 minutes and the second pizza was still not delivered. I finally got her attention and asked where the other pizza was. She said there was an issue in the kitchen and it would be right out. And after another half hour and our waitress was still ghosting us and no second pizza. Now, the table behind us came in after us and got two pizza and then a 3rd delivered. The 3rd one...a medium margarita! Still nothing for us. My daughter went to ask for a manager. The waitress she asked rolled her eyes and went to get the manager. Instead of speaking to her he walked right by her and came to the table. We could tell by his expression that he wasn't interested in dealing with this. He said the kitchen screwed up and he took care of our food. So, that was a salad and a small pizza and a soda. And the other pizza we never even got. He then said he was in the kitchen all shift. So was it you that screwed up? When my daughter mentioned she came her often and was thinking of using them to caterer his response was "so you had one bad experience". What if this was our first time or it was the catering order? I was really unhappy with his attitude amd response so sarcastically said "thanks for doing such a great job of taking care of the issue". He came back to the table and further explained that no one came to keep us updated and basically avoided us. Without a doubt this is the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. After further discussion he offered a gift. card. It isn't what I was trying to get but it was the right thing to do which is why I gave them a 3 instead of a 1. This is a great sports-watching bar that just doesn't quite make it. We have gone there two times now to watch football on the weekend. It was not packed. There are a multitude of great TV's leftover from their predecessor's (Lachey brother's) bar. The layout of the place provides great sports watching views from all angles. The pizza and salads are good, BUT.... Their service is terrible. Here are some examples. I ordered a Greek salad with baked chicken, and my husband ordered a pepperoni pizza. The salad came out quickly but without the chicken. The pizza did not show up for at least 30 - 40 minutes; I finally had to ask the manager to check on the pizza. We ordered a beer and a wine. My husband got his beer, but I sat and waited for a long time for the wine while he drank 1/2 of his beer. I had to ask the waitress check on the wine and have chicken put on my salad. When I finally got the glass of wine, the glass was only filled 1/4 full, probably 2 ounces of wine. They also charged us $10 for this pitiful glass of house white wine. We ordered a second round of the same drinks, and someone (not our waitress) brought us 2 under-poured glasses of wine, not a glass of wine and a beer as we ordered. We will not be going back. I love Taglio's food! Ive only had them once, years ago. However, I saw their Detriot Deep Dish style pizza and couldn't resist trying it. First and foremost for those that didn't know, Taglio is an entity of A Tavola. I absolutely love A Tavola as well! The difference between Taglio and A Tavola is A Tavola focuses more on the Italian fine dining experience, while Taglio focuses on just pizza. A Tavola's pizza is more of what you would find in Italy; whereas, Taglio's pizza is not as sophisticated and the crust is a little thicker. I placed my order through their easy app and picked it up. The app is user friendly and didn't take much time to place my order. So the pizzas are good, but their service is bad. We went on a Saturday night and it was half empty. It took almost 15min for our drinks to arrive. We literally saw them standing for almost 10min at the bar and no waiters were around to bring them. Then the pizzas took over 45min to arrive (and again the place was not crowded at all). We were with a kid and he is allergic to dairy. We notified them and ordered their vegan option. First his pizza was the last to arrive, and when it came it had parmesan cheese on it. The waitress went pale when she saw it. They had to make a new pizza that arrived like 15min later. Do you know how hard is for a kid to see everyone with their food but him? After all this I would have expected some apology from the manager or not to pay for my kid's pizza to make up for it. But none of that happened. read more

As someone who recently moved to Cincinnati from Detroit, I approve this pizza. The Detroit Style is pretty comparable to some of the best. I also love broccoli and garlic on pizza, so that won me over. For the vegan cheese, they use Violife which is actually good! My bf is vegan and normally he eats pizza without cheese, but when I asked and found out they use Violife, he was like, oh yeah get the vegan cheeeeese! I tried a bite of his and I agreed - it was nice and creamy and not weird oily like a lot of vegan cheese is. Anyway - got COVID-19 takeout and they were really communicative with me and as a biologist who works with environmental microbes, I felt like they were taking the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of corona virus. They also didn't kick me out for being chatty and trying to get my social interaction for the week! But yeah - bf and I definitely plan on getting more pizza from here. read more

Great pizza place in a fun location! Got here on a Friday night and we were able to be seated within minutes. The space is neat, can kind of feel a little cramped due to the number of tables, however we did not have any issues with noise or people running into us. Our server was a new trainee that night, and he did great, his training supervisor also checked in with us at one point. Had the pleasure to eat here yesterday. One of the few places open on Labor Day. The servers on the floor immediately greeted us when we walked through the doors. We had a wonderful server who stayed customer friendly and thorough during our lunch drop in. They had wonderful lunch specials. The menu is small but it's just right. The perfect amount of options for a pizza restaurant. I ordered the lunch special of half a garden salad and a 9" vegan pizza. The vegan cheese they use is so very tasty. The crust was perfect. We did need to wait a little for my husbands sandwich but it was explained to us by the server the chef was not happy with how the original one looked. Overall, we all had a wonderful experience from the environment to the food and plan to return to explore more of the menu options. Can't get the garlic, oh lovely garlic smell out of my nose. Went in with the family for the first time, and was glad to have a good experience. Waitress was ok, not super attentive, but not absent either. We got the app trio to start. The buffalo chicken dip is really good, but the bread had too many large holes in it and kept breaking all over when trying to scoop out the dip. Cheese sticks and chicken tenders were fried well, and were very tasty. We came for pizza and got the Detroit style pan. It was very good, and the crispy crust is amazing. The only thing that bothered me about it, was the saltiness. I think individually the ingredients are fine, but when you combine the dough, cheese, sauce, and pepperoni the salt in each one combined makes for a very salty pizza.
