Stopped by on our way back home from a lovely beach getaway with the family on Mother's Day. Always a pleasant experience. It was busy, but they know how to work it! Oldest ordered a quesadilla with carnitas. Hubby got a burrito with shrimp. And I ordered the soup of the day: Albondigas Soup!!! All of which were fantastic! Unfortunately we didn't get here in time to eat dinner, but they did let us grab a piece of the tres leches cake and take it to go. If the food is half as good as the tres leches cake, I would love to come back. That cake was incredible!!! My boyfriend is from Colombia and said it was one of the best tres leches cakes he's ever had (I won't be telling his mom that!) I wish we lived in the are and could come back to eat. read more

My partner and I were driving back up to the Bay after spending some time in SLO, and randomly stumbled upon this place on the drive. We're so happy we stopped here because the food was absolutely DELICIOUS! I ordered the wet veggie burrito and I'd give it an 11/10. I'd order this same burrito over and over again. I can't wait to go back and order the same thing again. This burrito, a cold beer, and a lovely view on a sunny day is my definition of perfection. Took one star off because my partner got the fish and said that there was very little of it, while there was too much salad (as seen in the picture). Otherwise, the taste of everything was great. NEVER AGAIN. HORRIBLE. These three words sum up my experience at Taco Temple this Saturday evening. We went looking to get some Mexican food. Was not expecting much other than food that was cooked right and presented like any other Mexican food. My hint to run should have been seeing the words "California Fusion" greet me on a place that looked like any other dumpy food joint along the coast. I order two Alaskan Cod tacos and my wife ordered the taquitos. I was hungry and really ready to enjoy a couple tacos. I also wanted soup, but the soup was broccoli. Who the heck has heard of broccoli soup at a dive Mexican restaurant? NEVER AGAIN will I come to this place or advise my friends to come here. When they handed me my plate, I could not see the tacos because what looked like a thrown-together salad was literally burying them. It's not even close to what is normal. So I scraped the salad off to see what was a cod filet (decent size) laying on a raw corn tortilla. I tried to eat it like a taco and it fell apart. Who doesn't cook the tortilla at least a little so it would hold the ingredients you want to enjoy in a taco? So other than possibly getting credit for helping me on my diet the rest was HORRIBLE. Something not their fault but still annoying was the fact that the trailer trash customers are yelling at each other so loud you could not possibly hear who you are across that table from. read more

A local favorite place for hot, fresh, flavorful food, especially the fish tacos or, really, any seafood-loaded offering. Feels a bit pricy until you see the servings. Not the warm, wonderful service of the past, and the food is a bit more bland in the SLO second restaurant than in the old-school MB original of yore, but still worth a stop. read more

Okay so after years of passing by the Taco Temple on the way to Cambria, I finally made it mandatory for myself to eat here and I am so glad that I did. First know that you will get more than your money's worth of tasty food. I ordered the combo platter that comes with a chili relleno plus your choice of a taco or sweet potato enchilada plus rice, beans and a salad. I really want it that enchilada so I ordered that on the side. :-). The combo plate cost $20 I think. Not bad. The best of the three for me was the sweet potato enchilada. It was not how I imagined it would be. There are skinny slices of sweet potatoes wrapped in a corn tortilla with some type of cream sauce and garnished with pepitas. yummy!! On my next trip a couple of those enchiladas with that delicious salsa and chips will be enough for me. Speaking of the salsa, it was perfect! I haven't been to a restaurant that had that quality of salsa in many years. And the homemade chips are great too. Not too thin and not too thick. Be prepared because the entree sides are not skimpy. Whatever dressing they had on that salad, I need a bottle of that. The chili relleno tasted good and was a nice size. Although it was smaller than what I'm used to it l, I was satisfied. I won't order the carne asada taco again because for me it was just too much meat. lol. I know that sounds strange but it is very very meaty and since I'm trying to cut back on red meat, I couldn't eat the whole thing. Well, actually I didn't want to.The asada was flavored well though. Craving tacos, we found Taco Temple on Yelp with a much better than average customer rating. I'm not sure what folks in this part of the world consider better than average Mexican food, but this place ain't even average. Our tacos were full of tiny pieces of marbly-dry carne asada meat with no seasoning covered in soupy salsa with a smidge of cheese and lettuce. The hard taco shells tasted like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The red enchiladas were swimming in a very dark sauce that sorta resembled Mole until we tasted it - the burnt acrid sauce was scorched. The nice gal at the register quickly swapped our plate out for cheese enchiladas. But the damage had already been done - no thank you. We quietly opted to leave 80% of our food behind, tipped the pleasant smiling young man bussing tables, and headed out after we had completely lost our appetite. What a mess. The food is just so meh; it's vacillates between being under and over seasoned (why no salt in the rice and beans?) and flavors are often discordant (fried fish tacos with cheddar cheese? Why?). Things range from being delicious to flavorless all on the same plate, and the portions are absurdly large, which probably results in massive amounts of food waste. This is an order at the counter and then sit establishment. It is a very popular place and quite busy but we were still able to find a table. I ordered the taquitos which were okay, the meat was a bit dry. The chips and salsa were also decent. Overall, it fell into my average for a taqueria category. The cashier who took our order and the person who delivered our food were friendly. The prices are reasonable. If you order a burrito I would say you are getting your money's worth as they are HUGE!!! They have ample parking. read more

It's not awful food; I wanted to give 2.5 stars. it's not traditional Mexican if you're looking for that. The burritos are expensive and huge mostly filled with spring mix and rice; some black beans. The carnitas side was tasty and crispy. Many of the entrees needed salt and were very garlicky to some in our party. The street tacos were fine not outstanding but ok. The salsa is very spicy but not the pico de gallo. read more

Hard to put all the flavors (and size) into words. I went with my husband and parents by a friend's recommendation, and couldn't be happier with my friend that found this place. Starting with the complimentary chips and salsa, so fresh and yummy! We ordered 3 things for the 4 of us, and let me tell you it was way too much food, but somehow it was so good that we miraculously were able to almost finish them. Ordered the fish, calamari and crab cake tacos, and also a side of rice and beans. The calamari was my personal favorite, but everything tasted really good. WE have tried 5 times to like the SLO location as much as the MB location. Magnanimously rounding up from 2.66 stars. This place is extremely mid. Baja fish tacos: 1.5/5. Fish was overcooked, under-seasoned, bland, and the tacos came with cheddar cheese for something that must, to somebody, at some point, have resembled a reason. Came with a big salad on the side that was fine. Just fine. Not like, good. Ahí poke tacos: 3/5. Fish was seasoned well, but beans and rice were flavorless and rice tasted dried out and old. Sad little lump of guac on the side couldn't save this plate. Carne asada burrito: 2.5/5. The carne asada was fine, but the majority of the burrito consisted of aforementioned flavorless beans and rice. The chips were pretty good. The salsa was boring white people salsa. I saw some other people get the "tacos" that come topped with a mountain of salad. This restaurant must throw away more salad than anywhere else in the universe as confused patrons push it on the side while searching for the taco they ordered. read more

I hate leaving negative reviews, but if I could give this place zero stars I would. It took about an hour for us to receive our food, meanwhile, customers that arrived way after us received their food before us. The food isn't authentic which we expected but the long wait and the food being cold when we received it made this experience terrible. I don't think these people know what they're doing. The one good thing I can say about Taco Temple is that their chips and salsa are good. We ordered: - nachos - cheese was cold. - temple tacos (asada) - was full of greens for some reason. - enchiladas - cheese was cold and was more like a quesadilla. This is the only one that I got a picture of to show how cold the cheese was when I received it. We sat outside which was fine and has plenty of seating....
