I showed up at 9:35 on October 21st. Online and on the door it says everyday 6am-10pm, not 6am- whenever we feel like it. I go through the drive through and no words besides "it's closed" are said. I ordered fajitas platter. All I got was two tortillas each filled with a few pieces of steak with no sautés onion nor peppers. The sides were beans and rice. I've never had food that was as underwhelming and flavorless as the food at Taco Cabana. I ordered some beef tacos, a shredded beef and green chile burrito and my girlfriend ordered a chicken taco salad. The only good thing I can say about the beef tacos is that the tortilla itself had a good texture. Otherwise, the only thing you could taste is the lettuce. The beef had no flavor whatsoever. The shredded beef and green chile burrito was even worse. The confusing thing is that it's labeled as Shredded Beef and Green Chile burrito on the menu but the staff instead calls it a brisket and green chile burrito. This made sense after the fact when I bit into it. It was solid chunks of tough, flavorless meat. There was very little chile to the point where you couldn't even taste it. They might as well call it an All Beef Burrito. I'm only giving Taco Cabana 2 stars because my girlfriend liked the chicken taco salad. It was a big enough salad that she was able to save some for later. I'd say if you're in a rush and are really hungry and have no other choice then this food will do the job of just holding you off till your next meal. Don't expect quality food because it is not something Taco Cabana provides. read more

Yeap Now I Know why they are rated they way they are. First the person taking the order was just plain rude! People please you are taking orders and there no line so why rush me! She sounded bothered. Food wise also not good! I live about 4 minutes away and when I arrived home the food was extremely cold! It's like they didn't bother to warm it up. What can I say about Taco Cabana? I love the name. I like the big booths and festive decor. Even with brain freeze, I occasionally like to order a blended margarita. What I don't like is the self-serve salsa bar. When you hold the small cup and fill it with salsa, it's nearly impossible to do so without it spilling over the side. When that happens, it pours over your fingers before splashing back into the bowl. I haven't been inside the restaurant since covid, but I'm hoping they figure out a better salsa system. I've been eating at Taco Cabana, now and then, for years. They have a good variety and I think there some good options if you are looking for a deal. Before tonight, though, I haven't been to TC for about a year. We did drive-thru. I ordered chicken fajitas nachos. I liked that it was served with guac and sour cream. Unfortunately, that was all I liked about it. I missed that it was served with ''queso'' but it must have said that on the menu? If I had noticed that , I would have ordered something else because it made the chips way too soggy. ..especially I didn't eat them until I got home 15 minutes later. And regarding the chips, the ones that weren't soggy were kind of stale. Love me some Taco C, but this location on Wyoming and Montgomery SUCKS! I don't know who does the hiring and training, but it's time to find an employee who can follow a simple order. Every time we go here and order the super nachos we add lettuce, tomato, and onion! And every single time they conveniently forget, even though they charge for it. Now, I always check because it's never there. Anytime you change up your order the incompetent staff cannot comprehend how to make the change. Something as simple as adding beans to a burrito is beyond impossible to do correctly for every member of this staff I have encountered! A 100% failure rate on at least 5 trips is unfathomable to me. How do you let your business be ran so horribly when all it takes is modest attention to detail? When you order nachos don't you expect it to come with cheese? How high do you have to be to forget to put the cheese on the Nachos!!!! Might as well forget the chips next time. Looked at the menu online before going to location. Once I got there the menu was different and my meal choice was different. I finally settled on a chicken taco salad with black beans. To shock when I got home the bottom of the Salad was swimming in liquid! 6 paper towels later the taco shell was still deep in liquid and totally mush!!! Doctoring it with a few choices from their salsa bar jacked it's juice & added a touch of sweetness. No complaints in the flavor or portion size departments. At just a hair over $6 after tax for the taco salad and a glass of water, it was a plenty reasonably priced quick lunch. Premises were clean. Staff was busy takin' care of business cookin' & cleanin', so weren't particularly engaging or friendly. But they were doin' a good job so I can forgive them a bit of abruptness. I've come to an end with this Taco Cabana; and this decision has nothing to do with the food, which has always been great. It's the TERRIBLE customer service from staff at the cash register. (The cooks are usually quite nice.) There is a high turn-over rate and each new staff seems to be worse (more rude) than the last. I brought this up to the manager a few weeks ago, after the female staff made a weird comment to me. When I asked her to repeat what she said, she just repeated what I owed. It was a surreal and very creepy experience, one that I've never experienced in my life! I stayed away for a few week, but when I stopped by the other day, I saw the same woman at the register. My heart sunk. I turned around and left. I went to Taco Bell, where customer service has never been an issue. It was at that point that I realized my relationship with this Taco Cabana was over. The tastiness of the food (which is great), isn't great enough for me to have to tolerate rude (and recently, bizarre) behavior from staff with zero customer service experience. I LOVE Taco Cabana, personally the best Mexican restaurant in the big food chains. The PROS is this particular location does a great job at food quality and the staff is always friendly and helpful and they do seem to keep the place clean Except for those times that it gets really full. The CONS is that either they're short on staff or sometimes they've got difficulties dealing with high traffic but I do know that I've waited at least 30-40mins in their drive-thru at least twice out of the 12 times I've been there. Also they have forgotten to place dessert in my order once although when I went back they did throw an extra piece for the inconvenience.
