Taco Boy's is the real deal and very happy we decided to stop in on the way to a concert. We knew right away this place was legit and the food smelled awesome as soon as we walked in. I ordered two chicken burritos fajita style and they were amazing. The vegetables were obviously fresh and the cheese was spread perfectly throughout the burrito. Sometimes you get a burrito where the cheese is only in certain sections and it ruins the flavor. Everything was made to order and the prices were reasonable. Walking in to this restaurant you just know that it's going to be amazing. The smells, watching them cook the meat...these are real street tacos. Definitely the best street tacos in Phoenix. The meat itself is charred beautifully, with all the smoky flavor you're craving. Even the beans were surprisingly smoky and are the best beans I've had, do not miss out on these. The meat is grilled over lump mesquite charcoal to perfection, then chopped and placed into fresh corn or flour tortillas. We had the asada and al pastor. It grossed me out I lost my appetite and I hadn't eaten all day. This was my first and last time here. If you decide to still go I wouldn't recommend the burrito. Tacos are worth trying and toppings are set up nicely in a salsa bar style. The one thing that I wa thrown off by is the labeling for 2 types of tacos. Traditionally barbacoa is the same as cabeza. Which cabeza is just describing the area of the animal it comes from. Here T Taco Boys be aware that "cabeza" is barbacoa and that "barbacoa" is the side skirt. Good thing I asked the ordering guy (or maybe in this case a taco boy, ) beforehand what the difference was. When I told him both cabeza and barbacoa were the same his response was "well we are not in Mexico." I don't know if he was being funny or serious, but he wasn't smiling. Perhaps the other 100+ people waiting in line for tacos on a Saturday night watched the special as well. The restaurant was slammed, with customers waiting inside and out. Inside smelled dreamy - a mix of Al pastor, asada, carnitas, and pollo. If you couldn't see the counter, you'd hear butcher knives penetrating through loud music slamming against cutting boards dicing meat into small cubes. The open faced restaurant is inviting and enticing. How do you choose just a couple tacos? I couldn't. So I chose one of each. Loved my first visit with my brother! Loved my second visit as well. The highlight and must have is the Tripa. It is salty, crunchy and smoky with just the right amount of chew. Today was my 3rd and last visit to taco Boys, the first two times was drive through but both of those visits were met with confusion ordering and disappointment whenI got my order home so today I went into the store to order. I went in around 4 pm not particularly busy 2 customers a head of me.The first thing that struck me was I could barely stand the smell of the Mesquite burning under the hood, it almost felt like the exhaust was turned off, the music was so loud both the person in front of me and myself had difficulty communicating with the cashier while ordering, the employees were enjoying it but I could not fail to notice that NO ONE was dinning INSIDE the restaurant. I received by 6 tacos went to Salas Bar it was in a disgusting state, onion & cilantro everywhere, salsa spilled where you were supposed to be able to set you food down, some containers almost to full there's nearly empty it was not pleasant. The napkins dispenser was full but you could not get any and out without them being shredded in pieces. I ordered 2 al pastor, 2 cabeza, 2 barbacoa, tacos total with tax almost $27.00 Im sorry but those prices are full service restaurant prices not take out, and to add insult to injury you have to dress your food yourself. The tortillas spend practically no time on the plancha, both the cabeza & barbacoa had absolutely no flavor at all it was as if they came out of a pot of boiling water, the al pastor was like eating sawdust so dry with bits of fat and skin that provided no flavor at all, the green salsa was like water infused with green chili the red wasn't much better. The cilantro and onion mix is a nice labor saving idea but it had been made so far ahead of time there was not a hint of cilantro flavor. Its hard to believe after watching the customers FILL styrofoam containers with condiments that would have been enough for 3x their order that this concept is profitable. With as many locations as they have I may be in the minority but there is clearly no reason to ever return to that store again. Fire Tacos, Crazy Busy. Love the tacos here. They are very authentic tacos. Similar to how they are made in Mexico, the meat is very tasty and they have a topping bar consisting of onions, cilantro, green and red salsas, avocado crema, and limes. The place is always packed. Even on a Monday night when most restaurants are dead. It's hard to find a table there so you usually have to resort to sitting outside on their patio. In the winter, the patio is great! In the summer, it is unbearably hot and the patio is not suitable. Plus the patio faces a busy street so you will hear a lot of traffic noise. Would recommend but best to do take out. read more

Easily best tacos, better than most legit spots in Phoenix. Al Pastor is better at Tacos Huicho but otherwise a great place for late night tacos or just lunch. Parking situation here is trash so you'll need to park on Roosevelt or Portland. Also keep in mind that the order situation here is non traditional. You order at one counter and pay at a different counter. Not sure why they choose to do that since it just ends up confusing people? Keep that in mind and make sure to ask if you're in the corriline to order, the only spot to wait for your food is the same spot as where you order. Again, super confusing! This really is one of the most convenient spots for tacos when going out on the town. It's across the street from Roosevelt row, a few blocks from the rooftop bar, and just a few minutes walk to the main party district of downtown. This was our first time here, been wanting to come here for awhile. The parking is a bummer, it's like the luck of the draw on parking, we however got lucky and someone was leaving. It's a lot smaller inside than I had imagined it to me, not very many tables and you can tell it's gets crazy busy here. Taco Boy's has the best CORN tortillas I've had in Phoenix. The meat is well seasoned but at 2.99 their tacos are on the smaller side. I got 3 & honestly I could have eaten a couple more. I'd say 5 is a good number. I got the ASADA (steak), PASTOR, & BARBACOA. The pastor was my favorite; the barbacoa was a little tougher/chewier than I prefer. They're served plain but you get to dress it up yourself. Their condiment bar is great because you can add your own onion/cilantro & sauces. They're located downtown & do have a parking lot which is convenient but it will fill up because it gets busy. They also have a DRIVE THRU which might be a better option if you're just trying to get in & out.
