I came here with my parents for a late lunch. The place wasn't very crowded and we got a seat right away. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. I got their fish tacos with a side of fries. We didn't have to wait too long for our food. My fish tacos were really good. The fish was fresh and crispy and I liked the sauce that came with it. Unfortunately I just think the management is out of touch with the ambience of which a neighborhood restaurant is looking for. Every time I go into this place the hip-hop music is blaring and it feels like more of a local watering hole than it does family restaurant you can enjoy With kids or a group of families. I'm a big fan of Taco Beach. The food is good old down home Mexican based. They say you can tell a good Mexican place by the salsa, and to be honest, that's the only reason I didn't give them five stars. It doesn't taste like it's made there which it really should if that means starting with a different base, whatever that benefit from better salsa, I went there with Boomer, and was happy to hear another dog bark on the patio, so I took him in with me, or rather, he took me in with him. I met up with friends and we had a delicious Friday afternoon lunch our waitress was fantastic and let me know that some of the dishes weren't ready yet. She was patient and then when she asked, "Where is our order?" It was given to another customer by mistake. Despite great the deal, main complaint were the single layered tacos (with the acidic ingredients) rendered the tortillas useless mush, as everything fell to the plate while raising to take a bite. In all my years of living in LB I never had tried Taco Beach until this past weekend. I had heard good reviews so I came in finally to give it a try. When I walked in the host TOLD me (didn't offer or suggest) to sit at the bar but I don't drink so I asked her if I could sit at a table instead. She said yes with a reluctant facial expression and tone. When asking me if I wanted a drink I asked her for her non-alcoholic drinks and she stated they had Jarritos. I asked her if I could have one and then she TOLD me, to get up and go get it myself from the cooler myself so that she wouldn't have to make too many trips back and forth. I was shocked and speechless, but not to cause a scene, I went grabbed my drink myself, ordered food, ate and left a nice cash tip. Always drive by here going to Target and assumed it was over price due to it's location however one Tuesday my husband finally looked them up and said they were priced like other spots so we decided to give it a try. Did not realize they had a taco Tuesday so we all got tacos. My kiddos had chicken tortilla soup and a beef quesadilla. I had a grilled shrimp and a grilled mahi taco. Both were good portions and delicious, packed with lots of cabbage. My husband enjoyed his carne asada tacos and my MIL said her fish taco was yum. Service was great and quick. I did not catch our waiter's name but he was good however when we asked the girl for to-go boxes, she never came back with one and went about doing other stuff. Ok. I came here on a Thursday evening and it was getting pretty busy. It's very casual and located next to bars. The menu offers a good amount to choose from. I opted for two shredded beef tacos with beans and rice. Tacos were good portion wise but also not my favorite. I did enjoy the rice and beans! Overall, the food is mostly decent but service is slow. I'm not in this area often so I probably won't be back. This isn't a bad option though if you happen to be in the area and want Mexican food. read more

Looks like our debit card number was stolen when we ate dinner at Taco Beach on Sunday. Bank said they think it may have been an employee because of how quickly the fraud charge was placed after we paid and left. Thankfully we got a call and text from our bank Sunday night. Left a message for the manager first thing Monday morning, said it was about an issue with a charge on our card, and have never received a call back. I've called back several times and am always told that there isn't a manager there and they "come in and out all day." Bummer because I really liked their baja fish burrito, but not sure I feel comfortable giving them any more business. Filing a police report so we can hopefully get a look at the surveillance footage. If you eat there, I'd definitely bring cash. read more

I recently took a visit to Taco Beach in the Los Altos area of Long Beach on Bellflower Blvd. They're a Baja inspired Mexican restaurant serving up tacos, burritos, fajitas, and much more with a laid back feel. They've got a pretty extensive menu and a full bar, so there's sure to be something for everyone. Here's the sitch from my visit. Baja Shrimp Tacos The shrimp tacos immediately caught my eye. They're packed with grilled shrimp, grilled peppers and onions then topped with melted cheese and their house spicy creamy baja sauce. These are good sized tacos and fit for big appetites. I really enjoyed them. Pipeline Burrito This is my favorite burrito at Taco Beach. It comes with your choice of shredded brisket, carnitas, shredded chicken, asada, ground beef or charro chicken. Rice and beans are added then it gets topped with red chile sauce and shredded cheese. I've had the brisket and carne asada. Both are good, but the brisket is my fave. Mango con Chile Double Margarita This is one of the tastiest blended margs I've had. It's a double shot of tequila, mango purée, fresh lime juice, pure blue agave, sweet & sour, Chamoy, and a Chile salted rim garnished with a lime wedge. Don't let the tasty fool you. These are delicious and can sneak up on you real fast! Get on down to Taco Beach for a chill vibe, tasty eats, and good drinks. Don't sleep on that Mango con Chile Double Marg, either! read more

Do not go here. (Taco Bell is better!) Beware of sanitation and food quality. Way below average food with zero flavor. Salsa tastes like its from a jar. Service was lacking too (young waitress). Now, in this time of covid you would think they would take precautions with cleaning. One of our forks had what looked like dried up onion on it. Thank goodness I had plastic utensils in my purse. When our plates were brought to the table, it was served with a spoon already in the plate with the beans and rice. Turn off! How do I know that wasn't dirty either?! I ordered a 2 item combo and asked for all the toppings on the taco and taco on the side. Not surprised, it came with everything on it. Not worth sending back to the kitchen, as I was already turned off from eating but I tried to wipe off as much as I could. Bathrooms do not have toilet seat covers either. My first visit coincided with taco Tuesday, and it was a great deal. Their tacos are quite a lot more substantial than tacos found at most other places. The carnitas meat was tender and flavorful, and the shrimp was juicy and cooked just right. I also liked their complimentary salsa and warm chips. I am not really a drinker, but they do offer a whole menu of alcoholic beverages. Only reason they are really getting two stars is because of its prime location and nice scenery surrounding the building other than that I have to say I'm kinda disappointed throughly not only is there chilaquiles is a sad excuse for a proper dish but the chicken was gray it looked unsettling not appetizing the salsa was mediocre at best and the chips were soggy with no crunch . I'm not trying to be an asshole but I have ate here on numerous occasions after staying at the courtyard right next door and I wanted to love it but just didn't I'd say this place only gets a pass if your eating here drunk , which then I'd might actually enjoy something from this menu . Today my friend who loves this place wanted to eat here, i reluctantly accommodated him. After praying over my food, (veggie taco) I discovered, EXTRA things (bug like creatures) in my food. When I brought it to the waiters attention, he seemed puzzled. He then said "he didn't know" and had to ask the chef. I personally asked the chef, what are these black creature like things in my food? His response, "I don't know" Maybe black beans. (?) I didn't order any beans sir, and you and i both know these aren't any part of any type of beans. Cold tacos - twice in a row. I'm normally a huge Taco Beach fan. Live right down the street, been walking there for years for dinner, lunch & miss their weekend breakfast. But, two weeks in a row we went for Taco Tuesday and we're served cold tacos. I'm not sure if the meat is reheated or what is going on but my husband doesn't even want to go back again. Super disappointing, different types of tacos as well. My husband ordered one of each & I will say the fish tacos were hot but everything else was room temp or just plain cold :( Also the patio could use some speakers to enjoy the music but that's just a suggestion read more

One star is being generous. I can't say anything about the food because we were never given the opportunity. We were told to seat ourselves, she brought us chips and salsa and took our drink order. Then that was it....a group of 3 came in and took all her focus. We were told that she would be right with us to take our order but never did. After 30 minutes, giving her an opportunity to come to us. She never did. Her focus was clearly on this group of 3. All the other tables that came in after us were clearly being taken care of....I almost felt invisible. I would love to say it was super busy, but it wasn't.
