Purchased a groupon for $10 for $20 worth of food. The bread was good the first basket was room temperature the second basket was warm. The olive oil comes with peppers and carrots and is different but very good. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Wed night is open mic night and there was someone playing music and singing the staff came over numerous times to ask if it was too loud - it was a tad loud but manageable. The music was very good. Dinner for 2 consisted of boneless chicken with sausage and a side of pasta and chicken parm with pasta. Your side choices are (pasta or potatoe and vegetables). We did not have dessert or appetizer. I had a glass of wine for $6. Overall the food was good the the place was very clean and not too crowded we sat in the back there were about 8 tables for dinning and a few more up front plus the large bar. I saw the commercial at the movie theatre and decided to give it a try, and boy am I glad I did!! From the moment we were greeted at the door until the moment we left we felt at home and very welcomed. The interior is warm, inviting and CLEAN! Our group of 4 started with drinks at the bar. The beer selection is eclectic and has a variety to suit all. The homemade sangria was awesome, and topped with plenty of fruit. We viewed the martini list, and the bartender (who was a lovely young lady) recommended the Oasis Martini that is a house specialty (and was just created) OMG, if you ever you ever want to feel like you are on a tropical island, have this drink, you will not be disappointed. We discussed the menu with the bartender before going to our table. We told to try the Shrimp Sambuca (which is not on the menu, but was assured will be soon) It was one of the most delicious shrimp dishes I have ever had. It is obvious that Table 42 prides themselves in creative fare, and introducing new items for one's palette. We also enjoyed the firecracker calamari, a crab cake, and a selection of their raw bar. EVERYTHING was fresh and presented beautifully. Our entrees included the classic chicken parmigiana (which by most standards is "just chicken parm" not here! The flavor of the sauce was as fresh as my Italian grandmother makes! Also enjoyed was the Steak Au Poive, the Rigatoni with sausage and cream (a choice of hot or sweet sausasge and the pork chop. We all tried each others dishes and had one of the most enjoyable dining experiences this side of Manhattan! So, if things could not get any better, we are offered desserts and coffee. Not being hungry at all we are convinced by our waitress to at least try 1 of the homemade desserts and share between the four of us. We ordered the flan, it was so creamy and had a lovely caramel flavor that was not overpowering in any way. Did we have enough, no, we actually ordered the homemade bread pudding afterwards! OK, you would think it's time to go home. No, we stayed for an after dinner drink and enjoyed the live acoustic music. The bar area was filled with a mix of people enjoying drinks, dinners, appetizers, atmosphere and music. What a night of fun we had. On top of all of that,, we did not break the bank. Long story short, treat yourself, your friends and family to this wonderful place in the heart of Dover. I can guarantee, you will be happy you did! read more

Beer issue has disappeared and I'm loving this place. The food was OUTSTANDING once again. I highly recommend this place. However, here's something I'd love the owners to consider. The branding of the place. It has the potential to be something unique and refreshing. The food and the decor are A+ but I really would like to consider this place "An Italian Gastro Pub." I'd love some Italian beers on tap to go with the incredible food. It has the feel of a GREAT Irish pub with the soul of a high end Italian restaurant. I think of pub and I think of meh food, that's what makes Table 42 unique. Think about wine tastings for Italian wines or happy hour that celebrates the Italian American history in the area. Hook up with some local Sons of Italy type groups. Anyway, the place is great as it is, but branding it an "Italian Pub" makes it much easier to recommend to others. The service was not great when I went, but I'm giving them a pass because we were there for a wedding cocktail hour and they did the best they could. The first waitress we had completely ignored us and just never came back to check, but another waitress took over our table and was very attentive after that. My boyfriend didn't like his burger, but I ordered a Caesar salad (pretty good) and the sambuca pizza (amazing). The martini list is fun, but there are no prices listed. All in all not a bad place, and I'm assuming the service issue was just based on the situation. read more

What can I say about Table 42? My girlfriends, gay food expert, and I decided to go for drinks and bite to eat. The food and service were phenomenal! The bartender and owner, Chuck, suggested we try the sambuca pizza. The sambuca pizza was out of this world!!! I cannot tell you how amazing this pizza was. The first thing I thought was a pizza that taste like licorice, I'm not sure. From the first bite to the last slice that pizza is one of the best brick oven pizzas I have ever had! No bullsh*t ! I could drink the sauce from that pizza for breakfast lunch and dinner. To wrap up a great evening, the live music on a Wednesday was perfect after a long day. I would suggest this place to everyone. If you love delicious Italian food in a renovated, yet historic setting, this is the place. The rigatoni with sausage in a cream sauce is absolutely amazing and I can't help but order it every time I go there. It's just one of those dishes that even though you may be full, you still crave more of because the sauce is something else. Also the sambuca shrimp and sambuca pizza are great as well. I understand when someone doesn't speak good English, but no reason to act like an A**hole. My wife and I ate at Table 42 last night. This building was formerly the Laughing Lion and has been remodeled and opened as Table 42. The menu is casual bar food as well as popular Italian dishes. We shared the meatball and crabcake appetizers, which were great, as well as the Bluepoint oysters. I had chicken parmigiana for my entree, which was excellent, while my wife tried the prime grade pork chops which were juicy and had a very flavorful sage sauce. The service was quick and cordial and the atmosphere throughout the bar and restaurant area was very inviting. We plan to come back here often! The new ownership has done a great job with this venue and we can't wait to try more of the chef's offerings! read more

This is the only place around dover where I could have a martini sitting down peacefully and have a conversation: the food could be improved I order the friend calamari and all I could Taste was the battered. My boyfriend ordered the spaghetti and meat balls but they were a toasty which is not normal for a meatball. Overall the food needs improvement the drinks are awesome.**^^^********^****************So five days later I'm back at table 42 this time I brought one of my good friends I have to say Friday nights it's a different beast Haha. We ordered half a dozen oysters (fresh) , the steak quesadillas (crispy and steak was nice and tendered when ordered medium) and the margarita pizza pie (crispy)all the food was fresh no complaints what so ever. I'm only giving a 1 star because there is no lower option to give. Let's me first start by saying 2 weeks ago I made reservations for my fiancé and myself, we get there I check in I said I was early so we were going to go to the bar to wait and get a drink. Two bartenders behind the bar and both of them look at my fiancé and I several time for about 20 min before they even asked us what we would like. By this time our reservation should be available we asked about our table and are told any minute, 20 minutes later we get a table all the way in the back in the corner (now remind you my reservation was 20min late and there were other tables open). The server even took his time with us as people that sat down after us there food arrived before our. My finance and I are an interracial couple, and the only black white-couple in the place that evening. That night I never felt so belittle in a place that is located in a Hispanic predominantly area. We tried table 42 as it was recommended by our neighbor. It's a nice simple place on the inside. The service was great, our waitress was friendly and assisted with recommendations. We both tried the specials. The seafood was great and the food had lots of flavor. We are glad to see this place open again, but with a new owner. My wife and I miss the Laughing Lion. We had lunch and though the lunch menu was limited, but food was very good. It's good to the point where you take note. The owner said they are still working on the menu and you can always ask for the dinner menu at lunch. The place is closed Sundays and that's when we are in Dover, but I respect that decision. Will try to come here when it's possible. read more
