    Spicy Chicken
    Edenielle A.

I was referred here by my husband. When you walk in the walkway is cute full of plants. The space inside is also spacious lots of seating. We ordered 3 items, the spicy chicken, house chicken, and wings. My daughter enjoyed the wings and scarfed it down and I had the house chicken. I had the food with their cilantro sauce which was delicious but a lil spicy. The portions are big and I think worth the price you pay for. After eating we had enough to have seconds for later. I definitely recommend!

Tried this place again, same rating as last time. The teriyaki chicken ($16 now) was pretty good, tender and a little dry at times. The rice was a little clumpy in some parts. I got the pico instead of the salad this time. It tasted citrusy and peppery, which was kind of interesting, but I would've liked it to be less salty, since the chicken and teriyaki are already salty. There were no tables outside, and the wait for the food was around 15-20 minutes.

This is the only food spot that I have an account with and I think that alone explains it. Food & drink: (5/5) This is one of my fav casual spots to eat ever! An extra bonus is that it's super close by to me which I appreciate. I usually rotate between the spicy chicken bowl which is actually decently spicy, and the grilled shrimp bowl which is cooked and seasoned to perfection literally every single time. Not to mention I LOVE their pico and sauce. I'm not sure of everything that goes into them but they are genuinely so addicting. Even their rice is cooked really well- fluffy, hot, almost buttery? I've never had their poke before but my partner and friends tend to get it so I'm sure it's good as well. We tried their chicken wings for the first time during our most recent visit and I'm truly upset that I didn't order this sooner. The outside is crispy yet light, and the inside is SO juicy. Service: (5/5) Everyone here is always incredibly kind. You order at the front counter as you walk in, so interaction is pretty limited to that and them bringing out your food.

Stopped here today for the first time after seeing the many 5 star reviews. I quickly saw those reviews were legit. This is my favorite new place I've been to this year. Smiles on all staff faces and a warm welcome when we entered. It's great to feel happy when you first enter a restaurant It was busy, but our was taken quickly, and our food arrived quickly also. We both got the crispy chicken. It was cooked fresh, juicy, and very good. The pico with the rice was very good also. First time I've heard of this. This is going to be a new food trend for me. We also got a side of kimchi for $4. It was very good as well, and enough for 2 people. At the end of our meal, our server asked if this was our first time in, and if we enjoyed our meal. Seemed like she was sincere in caring about our response. I said a big YES and YES to both questions. I also loved the DJ's on TV playing great music. It created a great vibe. Ta Joia will be a must stop for me anytime I am passing through the Canyon Park area! Congratulations the owner and staff for making this a fun, inviting spot with excellent food!

Second time here. Teriyaki with little magic, food is fresh made and delicious. Little touches like option to add rice cakes to your meat, enjoyed the mix of South American and Japanese flavors, very unique. Team is so friendly, my daughter loved the rice cakes and wanted some more and the cook gave her an extra side of it. Atmosphere is super cute, like the sign says: good things are coming!

    Feijoada spicy chicken special

Food was delicious. Haven't had feijoada before but loved it. Portions were pretty solid and the flavor and quality was great. Feels like they use pretty clean ingredients as I don't feel bloated or heavy after crushing this entire plate in 5 mins. I'd get extra chicken next time but overall, this was amazing for my first time. Also love the music they play

Food - I had delicious spicy chicken. Service owner/manager hires smiles and good service. Ambiance - very strip mall but just right for lunch.

    Cheers to this!

In 2024, Ta Joia achieved #28 in Yelp's Top 100 Restaurants in the US, and I've had it bookmarked ever since! Here, you'll find a unique fusion of Korean, Japanese and Brazilian cuisines, specifically "teriyaki with a twist". Although they offer various proteins like pork, beef and shrimp, their chicken is the definite frontrunner, so that's exactly what I came here for! However, I also couldn't leave without trying their Feijoada, which is the national dish of Brazil. All this being said, the Feijoada Bowl was my perfect pick. When we walked up to the counter, one of the employees kindly welcomed us and entered our order. He also pointed out that we could help ourselves to the dispensers of complimentary water and hot tea. The tea had a subtle toasted flavor which was soothing on a chilly day. Around 12:45P, there were two tables left, so we felt lucky to grab a seat. After about 10 minutes, another employee brought out our plates which were all nicely presented. Based on this, I could tell how much care the kitchen poured into the food even before taking my first bite! + FEIJOADA BOWL ($15 + $4.50 for spicy chicken): If you order this as-is, it comes with rice, Feijoada (black bean stew), their pico slaw, fried egg and cilantro sauce. My add-on of spicy chicken was my favorite part of this meal! The tender thigh meat came perfectly grilled (see those char marks!) and marinated in their "triple spice chili sauce" that had a noticeable medium heat. Each piece was juicy and succulent, perfect with the creamy, tangy cilantro sauce that helped quell the spice. The sauce is truly addicting and I savored every last drop. The Feijoada made up half the plate - black beans mixed with slices of sausage, bacon and pork. It wasn't very bold in flavor, but made the meal extra hearty. As a contrast to the rich stew, their pico (crunchy cabbage & ripe tomato in a refreshing dressing) really brightened up the plate. Although it was more acidic than I would have preferred, it complemented every bite. + HOUSE CHICKEN BOWL ($16): This came with at least double the chicken than what I got as an add-on to my Feijoada Bowl, in addition to rice and (our choice of) pico. Note that this doesn't automatically include the cilantro sauce, but the employee kindly gave us a small cup of it at no extra charge when I asked. Since I loved the chicken so much, I'd probably get this bowl next time. As we cleared our table, two of the employees asked how everything was and genuinely thanked us for coming in. At the end of every year, I reflect on my favorite meals, and I already know this is going to be at the top of my list!

Crisp chicken, came recommended by the staff
    Charlie L.

I struggle with this review because I really really want to love TaJoia, especially give how wonderful the girl behind the counter was and how much care the staff seem to put into the food and customer engagement. I had the recommended crispy chicken, which is like a chicken katsu, with their house cilantro sauce and pico (onion, cabbage, tomatoes). The good thing is that the chicken was really crispy, and the bad is that it smelled fishy - like a dirty rag (?) It tastes totally ok - the chicken was unseasoned (?) so it's not hiding anything rotten. May be the katsu was fried using the same oil as shrimp? I like the twist on old favorites but I think overall it's just doesn't fit my taste profile... the sauce and the pico are heavily on the vinegar, making it sour and tangy... which is really not my style. I'm sad I didn't love the food, but I think others should give it a try.

Wish I lived closer to this joint bc sheeeeeesh da grindz are always gasssss -- I normally stop by once a month whenever I visit my barber in town. This place never misses! I stay getting the spicy chicken + avo cilantro + pico combo. Trust me family... I don't work for Nike but just do it. Prices + drive are worth it. The owners are hella relatable + the workers are all dope and friendly (your hair is fire big dawg) + most importantly, the food is fire. Not one bad thing to say bout Ta Joia yall. Go check em out.

    Spicy chicken with feijoada

Delicious! I ordered a special: the spicy chicken teriyaki paired with Brazilian feijoada and white rice, topped with a fried egg. Everything was flavored so nicely, I kept wanting to eat more than I could. I don't think I have ever said this about a restaurant, but even their white rice had this home-cooking taste that was irresistible. The spicy chicken is enrobed in a chili-based marinade that was so good, I didn't add a drop of teriyaki. In retrospect, I missed tasting a key element for this review! I also ordered the vegetable spring rolls and the sweet sesame rice balls--fried fare done right. I ordered takeout through their online interface, which I found straightforward. More importantly, my food, handed to me by cheery staff, was ready on time and piping hot. This spot is located in a sizable strip mall, and their space seems open and inviting for dine-in. When I read another Yelper say they traveled from Seattle just to try Ta Joia and it was worth the drive, I finally gave it a try. It was indeed excellent.

Recently visited my family and it wouldn't be a complete Washington trip without getting some Ta Joia! Glad to indulge in the amazing food this family has to offer. I've missed the amazing flavor of mixing the pico, rice and cilantro sauce soo much. Had to get a little bit of everything this trip including my favorites grilled shrimp, spicy chicken and kalbi. More than happy to feel the warm welcoming atmosphere they've always provided. Thank you Ta Joia for a meal served with love.

    Spicy chicken, original teriyaki
    Green A.

Wow, this is the best teriyaki we've had so far! We've been trying a few teriyaki places after moving to Seattle 2 years ago, and this one is by far the best! We got the spicy chicken with salad + pico (I subbed in salad for rice which I appreciate that they let me do) and original teriyaki chicken with pico and rice. We also got a side of cucumber salad. Both chicken dishes were so flavorful with nice charred, juicy chicken. I personally loved the little kick in the spicy version. Salad and pico were very good and refreshing. Ask for a cilantro sauce on the side! You order at the counter and they bring out the food to your table. People were friendly and the vibe is very casual. I just wish I live a bit closer so I can come here more regularly!

    Kalbi, oh so good!

We weren't sure what to expect since Chops advertises itself as Asian fusion. Our first impression wasn't great. The restaurant felt very bare and a bit cold, and ordering is entirely through a self-service kiosk. The biggest issue was the menu--many items had no photos or descriptions, so unless you already know what they are, it's a bit of a guessing game. If customers are expected to order from a kiosk, every item should have a picture and a brief description. I ended up playing it safe and ordering the chicken katsu because it was something I recognized. It also seemed like the only option for water was to purchase bottled water. That said...the food completely changed our opinion. The chicken katsu was a tad dry, but! It waa crispy, crunchy, and tasty. The sauces were a nice touch (on the side), the rice was perfectly prepared, and everything tasted fresh. We were genuinely surprised by how good it was. We had originally planned to eat here just to hold us over before going back to the sushi restaurant, but after finishing our meal, we were completely satisfied and didn't feel the need to go anywhere else. Overall, the food exceeded our expectations. I'd definitely recommend improving the kiosk experience with better photos and descriptions, but based on the quality of the food alone, we'd absolutely come back. Clean establishment and the guy tidying up the place was friendly.

Unjustified service charge. We were a party of 5. Your own policy adds a mandatory service charge for parties of 6 or more. We were still charged 20% automatically , then handed a tip prompt suggesting another 20%+ on top. That's not a policy, that's a shakedown. We were overcharged. My physical bill read $205. My bank notification said $215. When I went back to question it, staff kept pointing me to a digital bill that showed a different amount than what I had in hand. After pushing back, they acknowledged the discrepancy and offered my mom and me $10 InChin gift cards each as resolution. The gift cards were a trap. They came with a 10-day expiration. I live my life , I can't guarantee I'll return within 10 days, especially after this experience. So that $10 "resolution" is money I'll never see again. I was charged $10 extra AND a service charge I shouldn't have paid. This wasn't a mistake. Mistakes get fixed transparently. This was a string of decisions that benefited the restaurant at the customer's expense and when caught, the "fix" was designed to keep the money anyway. Next up was the Singapore noodles. They were ok but somewhat lacking in "pop" vs. what you might get in a dedicated Chinese restaurant. The last item was the Black Pepper beef. Good but a little bland as well. If I come back I'll definitely order the Salt and Pepper Corn again and explore more of the Indian inspired dishes. I get the feeling that they are stronger in that department vs. the Chinese influenced offerings. The waitstaff was very good - kudos for taking care of us.
