Great place to have lunch,. So quiet on a Saturday afternoon. There were only 2 other tables with patrons. And no loud kids. It was great. Lots of Vegan options and things for the meat eaters. The service was excellent and it was a great place to catch up with my friend I hadn't seen in like 6 years. I ordered the Miso Carrot salad and the Birria Ramen. It took me way too long to finally eat at Bar Dojo. I came in for brunch and wish I have a bigger stomach. My friend and I shared all of the entrees ordered. The churros Chinese donut is a genius idea. It was yummy -- it had caramel, sugar and powdered sugar on it. I think they could've let one of those toppings go as it was very sugary. The pork XLB was delicious & flavorful but lacked soup and half were also torn. It was still good though along with the sauce it came with. The smash burger was pretty good too and the truffle nori fries were addicting. I'll have to come back to try the seafood & sashimi/poke dishes as my friend has dietary restrictions. What a great hidden gem in Edmonds! I love all the beautifully curated dishes that are packed full of flavor. Service is amazing, but be sure to make a reservation as it does get busy and it is a small restaurant! The place was almost full but didn't seem hectic - we had made a reservation and were seated right away. I had the ube horchata which was beautiful, sweet and satisfying. I also had the pandan chicken and waffles special. Located in Edmonds, this is an upscale Asian fusion restaurant that looks unassuming on the outside but serves up some decent dishes inside. I went here with a friend, and just in case, we made a reservation for 7:30pm since that was the earliest spot we could get at 5pm, but we were still able to be seated at 7pm. We tried 2 cocktails - Shiso Lovely and Ube Rumchata, as well as a variety of dishes such as birria egg rolls, ahi poke tacos, filet tataki aguachile, and guava churro cheesecake. Overall, the food is okay but could be better for the price. Shiso Lovely was gin based drink with shiso but I honestly felt like the drink was watered down. The Ube Rumchata was fairly aesthetic and has a nice sweetness from the horchata and ample flavor from the ube. The birria egg rolls were good and fairly filling, but I expected more than just 4 half pieces. The consomme they serve was decent but from a reference point, I have had better. The ahi poke tacos are one of their best sellers so we tried that, but it was a little underwhelming from the tuna quality and the wonton is a little soggy. The filet tataki aguachile had a nice balance of spicy, savory, and tangy; it is one of their rotating specialties. I love that they prepared the dish medium rare. The guava churro cheesecake topped off the meal on a good note. The guava filling is slightly caramelized and the cheesecake is fairly hearty, perfect for splitting. read more

I would say the type of food they serve doesn't really match the ambience of the restaurant if that makes sense? It felt a very Edmonds restaurant inside. We ordered: -Birria eggrolls - pork belly nachos - Dojo Board - almond cake - guava cheesecake - lilikoi creme brulee The birria eggrolls were our least favorite, the sauce didn't stick to the eggroll that well. The pork belly nachos were cheesy and had good flavor. 4 of us shared the Dojo Board, and we polished it clean. I think the board was $125 or so. I've been to Bar Dojo several times for dinner and I've always had a great experience. They have a wide variety of unique menu items and everything I've ordered was delicious. Today, we experienced their brunch and I am already itching to go back. They had so many different things on the menu I wanted to try but today we got the Smash Burger, Ube French Toast and Salt & Pepper Shrimp Congee. The Congee truly stole the show. It was like a breakfast ramen with an umami bomb of flavors, dipping the savory donut in the congee with the chili oil + topped with a fried egg (chef's kiss!). You can't go wrong! We made a reservation and got seated right away but on a Saturday at 1130am during prime time brunch hour I was surprised it wasn't more packed. I am usually not really a fan of fusion type restaurants. However, this restaurant does it pretty well as the whole menu is just mouth watering. My favorites so far are the oysters and spicy beef bulgogi fries. Service was very friendly and attentive, and they even have a large area for parking. Went here for Seattle restaurant week and we got there right when they opened at 4pm on a Sunday and by the time we left it was packed. They seated us at the bar immediately as they said they were pretty booked with reservations which I was happy with especially since we were only a group of 2. The service was very nice and friendly, I felt like a bit slow. I had to ask about our oysters bc we had already gotten our appetizers and main and we still hadn't gotten our oysters even though we ordered everything at the same time. I didn't mind but I found it odd that something uncooked came after stuff that was cooked and I feel like usually oysters are an appetizer? The food was all decent but there weren't any stand out dishes for me. The mousse was good and the Mexican chocolate made it extra tasty. The oysters were very small and the sauce was good but idk if it's worth the up charge and I might just enjoy a classic mignonette especially at the price, 6 an oyster. The salmon wontons were fine, I felt like the fried dumplings were just okay. The dumplings itself was mid, didn't feel like too much flavor, and it relied really heavily on the sauce that it lays on. We both thought the duck kalbi was mid, very chewy, not very crispy, not very flavorful, not bad though. The chicken satay was pretty good though. The pomegranate cocktail was also good. Overall I personally wouldn't come back but if I was randomly in Edmonds and wanted Asian fusion food then maybe. I think this place is a 3.5 but I'll round down as I reserve 4s for places I'd recommend to come back to and I probably would not for this spot read more

We visited the Seattle area this past week and were staying in the Edmonds area, Bar Dojo was highly rated on Yelp and I am pretty much always down for some Asian Fusion, so it was any easy choice to grab dinner! In an unassuming strip mall, the restaurant is quaint with a small bar area and ample tables. We were seated right away upon arrival Thursday evening. The restaurant overall has a simple vibe, but makes up for it in their menu offerings. Service was lovely. We had full water glasses and a water carafe immediately upon being seated, always appreciated. No paper menus, just QR codes here and a small paper menu of the daily specials. The server greeted us promptly and gave up ample time to view the menu! The menu had a great variety of things from bowls, tacos, loaded fries to ramen. We opted for the pork belly bowl and spicy bulgogi bowl. Both bowls presentation were beautiful. Great veggies and flavor overall. The spicy bulgogi was significantly better with more flavor, while the pork belly lacked a sauce or additional element. The bowls were nearly identical in ingredients though. After three bowls, with water, the total after tip came to about $100. It felt a bit steep personally. I may return again, as enjoyed the food, but not sure the value is totally there, but would be interested in checking out their happy hour or some other offerings if I was in the area. read more

The hoisin cauliflower had a thick, tempura batter with a nice crisp and chew and the cauliflower flavor was mild from their cooking method which allowed the sweet and spicy hoisin to shine. The artichoke hearts were amazing. The crispy panko breading gave way to the creamy hearts inside that were melt in your mouth smooth. It was a fantastic combination of textures. The gojuchang sauce also had a nice sweet and spicy combo with just a hint of tanginess. The edamame dumplings had the strong ginger and garlic flavors but also somehow felt delicate and provided a nice counterbalance to the fried apps. I was convinced that the vegan katsu burger was real meat upon my first bite. Almost aggressive that I should deign to enter without a reservation! Service is consistently timely, kind, and thoughtful and while the location on the outside seems pretty unassuming, the interior is comfortable for casual dining and even casual celebratory occasions (I had a nice family dinner here for my birthday once!). I personally enjoy the brunch menu more than the dinner menu, but that could certainly be up to my personal taste and I wasn't disappointed by the dinner menu by any means.
