Everyone seems to love Bucatini's, but I think it's just meh. While the pasta seems fresh, the flavor profile is unremarkable, and everything is too salty. To be fair, I am really picky about my Italian food having spent years in the Italian neighborhood in Boston. Can't really compare, I guess, but still. I went for the first time with my brother on a Thursday evening recently. It was busy and there was a brief wait before we got seated. The ambiance of the restaurant is great - it was packed, but quiet enough to have an easy conversation and loud enough to have some energy and a sense of privacy. We got a Caesar salad, garlic bread, the Manzo Nicole, the Salmone Pietro, and Reisling. Everything was delicious! Huge portions, even for my brother (who has a bigger appetite than I do!), and they made for great leftovers the next day. Our server was so friendly and thoughtful. They said it was only their fourth day, but we couldn't have guessed with how well taken care of we were (thanks, Case)! We'll absolutely be back with friends and family to try more of the menu. Wow, this place was PACKED on a Friday night, and for good reason. Quick heads up: the parking lot is tight and terrible, so plan accordingly. We came to Bucatini, and we got a stroke of luck as we pretty much sat at the last open table. The indoor decor was rustic and charming, with the music of Andrea Bocelli serenading the guests. We ordered: 1. Side of garlic bread 2. Clam based pasta 3. Mushroom ragu with pappardelle pasta The garlic bread is a fantastic starter! The bread is super garlicky (the more garlic, the better), and it paired well with the balsamic vinegar and olive oil that's provided. I wish the bread was a bit crispier, as it lacked a nice crunch. But overall, this is a solid appetizer to kickoff the meal. (Also a perfect bread soaker for your pasta sauce if you fancy your pasta dish!) The pasta dishes were pretty good - not great, but definitely scratched my pasta itch. And the portions are huge! I left feeling very full and satisfied. Yet, I felt that I had to add a generous amount of salt to my pasta, as it tasted a bit unseasoned. But as I continued eating each strand of pappardelle and slowly made my way to the bottom of the plate, the flavor seemed enhanced and tasty to my liking. My wife's clam pasta also seemed light in flavor, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, Bucatini brings some great character in the heart of Edmonds, despite the rough parking lot. Both were outstanding, lots of citrus on the snapper to cut the richness and loved the creaminess of the beet pasta. Both dishes were served with the pasta of the day (that day was corkscrew pasta). Portions are HUGE, neither of us were able to finish so we had to-go for the next day. Service: The staff here is extremely friendly. We had to wait about ~10 minutes outside (8pm on a Friday) before we got seated and the staff was kind enough to turn on the outdoor heat lamp to keep us comfortable. Second time visit for me. I live in Arizona and have been dreaming about this restaurant since the last time we ate here. I would probably drive from Arizona just to get some of their gnocchi. The restaurant feels like my family dinner table and sounds like a family party. Very much at home here the service is always lovely. Anna Maria, who served us tonight, was a fun person to talk to. She said that she is new to this restaurant but still had great suggestions for what we should try!!! This time our favorite was the manicotti Bandiera with three different sauces. We tried the scampi and calamari, and it was scrumptious. The only thing wrong with it was that there wasn't more! We eat it so quickly and we're so happy with every bite. The garlic bread appetizer did not disappoint fresh pieces of garlic and delicious Parmesan scattered across crispy bread was a perfect dipping vessel for our scampi and calamari sauce. you also tried Bucatini amatriciano and gnocchi with Gorgonzola sauce and peas! Bucatini is my favorite Italian restaurant in all of Washington! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but step inside and you'll feel right at home in the warm wooden interior. The strip mall parking was easy as can be and the service was great. But it was the food that blew us away. My friend got the Antipasto and it was phenomenal - fresh, light and so flavorful. I feel like it's hard to find this kind of dish done to this level of quality outside of Europe. The variety of ingredients was incredible. There were at least 2 types of olives, 2 types of cured meats, 2 types of cheese, yellow zucchini, parsnips, cucumbers, peppers, asparagus, and green beans, topped with garlic, fresh basil, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. It definitely whet our appetite and set the stage for the entrées. La salsiccia was finger licking good. Generous sausage and tomato was smothered in melted cheese and herbs, all on top of delicious crusty bread. The pappardelle alfredo was surprisingly light and clean which let the subtle flavors shine through. Best of all, the portions were huge and the prices were fair. And for the right reasons as our server also pointed that tiramisu along with their gelato is imported everyday from Italy and they are fresh and prepared under 24 hours. The garlic bread and the cheese dressing were really subtle and delicious. We tried the gnocchi pasta with Gorgonzola and Peas. I haven't tried such a dense and rich tasting pasta sauce. Very good. Great Italian food in Edmonds, WA has been found! Came here in a group of four. Nice interior (but really dark inside so my photos didn't turn out great). Menu had a large selection of options. I got the parppardella bolognese and others in the group had the parppardella Alfredo, lasagna, and pasta primavera. Pasta primavera with shrimp was our least favorite dish. My wife ordered it and thought it lacked flavor. Our favorite was probably the salad we shared as an appetizer- the insalata caprese. Meal portion sizes are HUGE!!! We should have shared two dishes. My friends and I had such a blast at this restaurant tonight. All first timers and very satisfied with generous amount of food, price and service! Can't go wrong with Buccatini I must say everything we had from the salad to antipasto to pasta to entree were extremely flavorful with lots of protein and vegetables. We were all surprised by the quality of the food at this place. It had popped up on our foodie radar some time ago and we finally got out there to try it. I had, admittedly, been reluctant...mostly because of the location...which is, essentially, a strip mall on a busy street corner next to Ivar's and across the street from a walgreens. But we did go. We had to sit outside (could've waited for an inside table but nah). The car noise was pretty annoying...why do people soup up their cars to make huge pops when they rev it? Am I aging myself? I don't think so, that's just annoying. But this is a side-effect of sitting outside at this place. The exterior atmosphere does not do the food justice. I had the SALSICCIA GIOVANNI. It was f-ing exceptional. My eyebrows raised at the first bite. This is significant. They didn't stay there or anything...but...I was surprised at how good it was. I also had a glass of the San Vicente Chianti...excellent pairing. My son got the Primavera...the dish was beautiful but he said "For how much they've got going on here, I have to say it's pretty bland." I mean...primavera. It looked good...our third friend had the gnocchi with gorgonzola and peas. So good. Very rich. She also got the cranberry aperol spritz. She liked the pasta but the drink was not that great...'too cranberry-y' she says. The portions were massive. I was three bites in saying that I had at least 4 meals in front of me. Brought it all home, happily. The garlic bread was also pretty incredible. All in all- fantastic food. I don't think there were any misses. I'll forgive the primavera but just because that's not my favorite dish anyway. I'm looking forward to trying their shrimp and other items. Desserts. For three of us we were all-in at $125 with tip. I found parking to be a little tricky. It looks like there is ample space but the spots fill up pretty quickly and there seems to be an official row of cars by the sidewalk that makes the space very tight. Something to be aware of as this place gets very busy, especially on Friday and Saturday. The interior decor is very cozy and the darker lighting somehow made it family-friendly and romantic at the same time in an unexplainable way. Cool interior space is what I am trying to say. After watching Rome all day with the Pope's election and kicking ourselves for not being there, we miss the amazing food we eat whenever we go to Rome! This is not the same food! We went in for a weekday lunch. There were a few other people there. It is kind of dark inside but that is the intention on creating the moody atmosphere. There were some candles on the tables but they weren't lit. I am assuming they light those at dinner but it would be nice to have at lunch, too. The server was very friendly and efficient. We don't live too close to Bucatini, but we've seen it along the road when we happen to go to Edmonds, and I've always wanted to try it, so the other night we decided to pop in. It was a dark and stormy Friday night, the roads were terrible, and there was nothing cozier than walking in to Bucatini. It just feels like a happy place, down-home comfort Italian food. Unfortunately about 5 other couples also walked in at the same time, so the hostess was a bit distressed, but we were told we could sit at the bar right away, so we took her up on it. The bartender, Angel, was great. She was busy enough we didn't get to chat much, but she was friendly and efficient. We got our drinks quickly, and our food followed shortly after. The cheese bread was amazing. I don't normally care for it much, but this was foccaccia that looked toasted with fresh parmesan on top. It was so good. Someone next to us got the same thing and it's such a large portion, she joked that we could have split it between the two couples. But we finished it all except for two pieces, so no way, lady, we needed our own! I got the carbonara, which was slightly disappointing. I can't put my finger on why, it wasn't bad, it just didn't taste how I usually like it. Maybe it was slighly less than traditional? Or maybe the stuff I usually like is less traditional, I dunno, but it didn't quite live up to my expectation that night. I will say, however, that I had them for leftovers the next day and they hit the spot 100%, so maybe it was just me. There was a lot of bacon (I don't think it was bacon exactly but every place uses something different) and a lot of roasted garlic, both of which were very enjoyable. My wife got a gnocci dish in a sauce and baked in the oven. She added chicken to it and she loved it. I tried some of the sauce with the bread and it was really good. Overall we're happy we went, and we'll definitely be back when we're in the area. It's a crowded place, which is great, there must be a lot of people who know how great it is, so get there early and show up hungry...there will be plenty of food for you! read more

This is an amazing Italian restaurant. The portions are huge. I stumbled upon this restaurant while shopping and what a great find. There are tables placed close together to fit as many people as possible because it is small. The decor makes you feel like you are in Italy. I have the seafood puttanesca and I highly recommend it. Really a great find! Restaurant is nice and cozy. We went mid afternoon as we had small children with us and it felt like the perfect time. The restaurant is elevated enough, my little kids might have been a little out of place at dinner time. Seafood, pasta dishes, caprese and grinders were stellar! As were the cocktails. Server was nice enough. Kids meal portions were generous and we appreciated that they still had good flavor! Some of the seafood was a tad over cooked but the sauce and pasta compensated. Been to Bucatini several times and it's one of my favorite spots to go to. Also budget friendly with generous entree portions. If you are looking for an authentic, family owned Italian restaurant, this is your spot. It is always jammed pack for dinner during the weekends so expect wait times after 630pm if you have larger parties. Ambiance Dark, cozy and has that family owned Italian feel. The restaurant isn't that big, decent size. Service Staff were short staff tonight but they were attentive even though they were busy. No issues. Only had to wait 20 minutes to get a table. They offered us the dining table facing the kitchen. Food As you can see in the photos and videos, all of the food came out piping hot. All of the items we ordered, it came out with generous portions. Enough to eat dining in and for leftovers as well. The restaurant makes in house noodles for the entrees that serves pappardelle. We ordered the following items: Garlic bread - always a must to accompany with your pasta. We ordered one plate of the garlic bread and it was perfect for 3 people. We each got two slices per person. Chicken Parmesan with veggies and pasta - the chicken was lightly breaded, wasn't crispy but overall was good. The portion was the perfect amount of food for one serving. Pappardelle Alfredo plus chicken breast - added the chicken for an extra charge. The chicken breast was pan seared, wasn't dry - supple moist. The Alfredo sauce wasn't too heavy. Kids Alfredo with rigatoni - perfect size. Same view as above but in a smaller size. Seafood bucatini - highly recommend. Doesn't taste fishy. This is a great hidden gem in Edmonds. Be aware that the parking situation is bad. There are only a few parking spots in front of the restaurant and the rest are reserved for other businesses in that strip mall. The restaurant is very cute and decorated nicely. We sat at the counter and were able to watch the cooks during our dinner. We had the clam pasta, the Ragu with tomato cream sauce, and the garlic bread as an appetizer. The clam pasta was delicious, light, and very garlicky. The Ragu was served with wagon wheel pasta which I didn't care for and the sauce was really underwhelming. I would not order this dish again. We went kind of early (4:30/5) on a Saturday as we heard it gets crowded. While it wasn't crowded when we got there, it took awhile to get service. Then when we did, all of a sudden, we were being rushed thru our dinner (not typical of traditional Italian). Alfredo had thick noodles and the parsley was mixed into the sauce so it was a little hard to pick around (as not a fan). She claimed there were hard bits in the sauce, but couldn't identify what it was...garlic?nuts? No idea and didn't ask. My chicken dish sounded good but confused me when I dug in...breaded chicken, eggplant, pasta and other veggies such as carrots, mushrooms and potatoes (?)... I don't really know, but it was good. While we waited, our server brought out a little basket of bread which we dipped into a balsamic-olive oil blend. The bread was room temp, but when the calamari starter came out with its brothy seafoody goodness, it paired perfectly with the bread. Lasagna was also really good! Update on my prior review. Came here for lunch. Was in the neighborhood and hadn't eaten all day. Welcomed and was seated quickly more secluded part of the restaurant. This made me able to focus on my food and dining experience. I started out by ordering the minestrone soup. This soup is large and filling. I wanted to order a sandwich too, but got full quickly on the soup. The soup came with a generous amount of vegetables, exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, the vegetables were undercooked and crunchy. The soup had much more of a gazpacho feel than minestrone. There was an excellent assortment of vegetables, but they were all in large pieces. The large pieces of these vegetables made it difficult to enjoy as a soup. I wanted a minestrone soup, with soft vegetables and in a much smaller dice. The pros here are many. The ambience here is warm and welcoming. The service was great. The broth on my soup was warm and nicely seasoned. Came with fresh shredded basil on top. I received complimentary bread with my soup. Overall, a a nice lunch but not the soup I wanted. read more

Excellent Italian. Great service, cool environment and delicious food. Even the subs looked and sounded amazing, so maybe next time that'll be the next thing we try. Would definitely go back! read more
