Country Fried Steak, Homemade Biscuit and Sausage Gravy, Pelican's Special Potatoes
    Marielle J.

I've been to this location twice and it's in a great area! I've been to the Mill Creek location plenty of times and it's a given that the food is spectacular! I took one of my girl friend's here and it was her first time. We were both looking for breakfast/brunchy options and it is great because they serve breakfast all day and they also have lunch options! The breakfast here, whatever you choose, you cannot go wrong! I've had a good variety of items, from all time faves, to crepes, scramblers and benedicts. Today, I was craving country fried steak under their All Time Faves! You have a choice of white pepper gravy or sausage and I chose the sausage. You also have a choice of homemade potatoes or fruit and you seriously must try the potatoes! Flavors are spectacular and they're thinly sliced with onions. Lastly, you can choose toast, a homemade biscuit or pancakes. The pancakes are delicious but so is their homemade biscuit! The biscuits are one of a kind -- fluffy and so good with their butter and homemade jam. It's gets really busy on the weekends, especially on a sunny day! So expect to wait a little :)

This was my first visit to Rusty Pelican Cafe in Edmonds (8/2/25). There are other cafes located in Mill Creek and Woodinville. It was suggested by CC, another Yelp Elite All Star. I lucked out with parking that morning, since our meet up also coincided with the popular Edmonds Saturday Market. Despite arriving shortly after 9am, this spot was packed! Thankfully, RPC has a polished front of the house waitstaff and experienced back of the house kitchen staff that can deal with volume. Menus and water were provided once seated at our booth. Our wait person also had a tray featuring the morning's fresh baked goods. Smart marketing move, because it convinced me to have a lemon blueberry cake slice. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. CC had drip with thick cream and the Mill Creek omelette with biscuit and gravy. In addition to the baked item mentioned, I ordered the Corned Beef Hash with potatoes, and buttered toast. Generously portioned, I ate my toast with jam, but took home half of the pastry and entree. This was later absconded by The Homie when I got home and it was deemed, "this is really good, Mom". I would consider this site's interior and decor as slightly upscale, considering this is downtown Edmonds. It's a decent option for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Note: This is not a greasy spoon, well worn diner. In addition, they don't take reservations.

I met another Yelp Elite here and enjoyed breakfast on a Saturday morning. Surprisingly, it was quite busy at 9 am. The whole party needs to be present before they seat you. Well staffed and efficiently run. The server brings a tray of housemade pastries to the table for you to choose. Coffee is accompanied with heavy cream, which I love. I ordered the Mill Creek Omelette with gravy on the side. The omelette consisted of bacon, sausage, peppers, onion and cheese. My friend ordered the Corned Beef Hash, which is always a good choice. Bonus is you get to peruse the Edmonds Saturday market afterwards if you plan it right. Food is always tasty and service is prompt. Coffee cup was always full. With that said, they're also good about making sure you don't overstay your visit, and are ready to turn over the table.

Such a cute place to have brunch. So much to choose from on their menu!! The food was okay, service is great! But we sat in a booth and felt very cramped, which kind of dampened the experience. The omelette was fine, made a little different than usual; almost like a scramble? However, I do like the option of getting pancakes as a side! You never see that!! The potatoes were different; they were thinly sliced like on a mandolin. I wish they were a little crispier. Service was quick and friendly. I love the pastry tray option given at the beginning; I've never seen that before and thought it was a great concept!

Avocado toast was very disappointing. Was on a burnt piece of toast and had one piece of bacon. $22 lol

Great ambience, clean dining room, great service, and delicious food offerings are some of the reasons why I'd recommend this restaurant. The interior is decorated with 1960's Hollywood b/w photos of stars like Fred Aster, Sammy Davis Jr., and alike. Breakfast and lunch is served all day. We opt for lunch and all serve with fries, soups or salad choices.

First, the pros: Love the ambiance (btw, absolutely stunning b/w photos in the hallway leading to the restrooms- hollywood celebrities of the past). The menu is huge! So many great choices, it's hard to choose! I ended up having their number two combo, which is three small slices of French toast made with cinnamon bread, two eggs, and two links (you can get bacon or ham instead). The French toast was really tasty, although I wished the slices were a little bit bigger. If I had been really famished, this would not have filled me up. But I got my eggs poached, and they were perfectly cooked with lovely runny yolks. One of my friends had the crêpes with lemon curd, and she loved it, ate up every single speck of food! It came with lots of berries by the way. And my other friend had a half Reuben sandwich with a small side salad. The salad was very pretty. She said it was good, but didn't elaborate. I also got their "seasonal coffee" which was vanilla crème brûlée. It was tasty, but I don't know if it was really worth the extra money. The cons: It's just street parking, and that can really be tricky, especially on the weekend, so I would allow extra time to look for parking. They have various types of seating. Last time I was there, I was seated in a booth that had plenty of space. This time around, the hostess led us to a very small booth. As a plus size woman, one look at it, and I knew there was NO way I was gonna fit in that thing. So we had to go back up to the front and get the hostess' attention and have her get us a different table. Nice as she was, I would think that a good hostess could judge whether or not somebody could fit into one of those tiny booths. My two friends are smaller than me, but even one of them said it was too small for her. Also, I'm a slow eater, and our waitress came and started to take my plate without asking if I was done. I had to very quickly say "no I'm not done! " I realize there was just three bites left of my French toast, and one bite left of one of my sausage links, but I had every intention of finishing them, and I was not very happy at her starting to grab my plate. But one last positive... My friends and I had not seen each other in a while, and had a lot to talk about, so we were there past closing time. We weren't the only ones, but we were there a good half hour past closing time, not even noticing that the place was almost empty and they were cleaning the whole time we were talking. But not once did anybody come to say "we're closed and we need you to leave." So I really appreciated that and I let them know as we were leaving. All in all, it's a very nice place and I recommend it!

I've been coming here since high school and this spot never disappoints! I will let you know in advance that this spot gets super busy in the mornings/brunch, especially over the weekends- I'm not sure if reservations are available but if it is, I'd recommend doing so (especially if you have a larger group). The interior is well decorated and the bathrooms are also very clean! As for the service, everyone has always been very polite and professional. For food, my family and I ordered the Lumberjack Omelette, buttermilk pancakes with strawberry, and Chicken Souvlaki Gyro. Even though the prices are on the higher end, the omelette does come with potatoes or fresh fruit as well as pancakes. And even though the portions don't look that big, they're super filling so it can definitely last for two meals if you want. Flavor-wise, this place never misses! There has never been a dish that didn't taste good and this place has been my family's go-to for several years. If you're looking for a solid breakfast/brunch spot, this is the place to be!

Such a cute place! Went here for brunch with my friends. Menu is pretty big. I had a hard time choosing but settled on the fisherman wharfs Benedict and a Bloody Mary. The Benedict was so good, love how light the hollandaise was, wasn't too heavy or overly salty. Service was great! I thought this place was more on the casual side but was surprise to see the staff in fancier outfits. Would definitely come back here for brunch because there were a few things I wanted to try.

Great food, great service, and overall good vibe! We went on a Sunday so it was pretty busy. They won't seat you unless your whole party is there and there aren't reservations available so plan for that. We luckily had the rest of our party show up right before other groups. I overheard it turn into a 15-20 min wait. Drinks aren't very strong. The food was hot and all so delicious! We are excited to go back.

I started again and said I wanted the drink with almond milk in a 16 oz size, and she interrupted me a second time to ask, "What size?" It felt like she wasn't listening to me to all. What stood out even more was that customers who came in after me were greeted with a much friendlier and more upbeat attitude. The difference in treatment was noticeable. When she brought my drink, I said, "Thank you," and received a simple "Mm yeah" in response. Combined with the rest of the interaction, it came across as rude and dismissive. I've had positive experiences at this location before, which is why this interaction was so surprising. I hope management addresses customer service expectations and ensures all guests are treated with the same level of courtesy and respect. One thing that also stood out to me was the apparent lack of diversity among the staff. While I can't speak to the company's hiring practices, it was noticeable compared to many other businesses in the area. Combined with the way I felt treated during my visit, it left me with concerns about the overall culture and customer experience at this location.

Fortunately, there was no traffic so it was a 20 min drive easily. However, a lot seemed to have changed from about a year ago? We got popcorn chicken which was $9 for a very tiny plate (like the medium size sampler food container you get at food tasting events) which is a joke of a portion, and the chicken was not even good quality - heavy on the batter. Compared to pictures a year ago, where the portions looked much much larger. They are so stingy on the amount of chicken, that I thought they were giving us a sample to try before they make a real batch lmaooooo. I tried the Kocochi milk tea with creme brulee, boba, jelly, etc. Sounds good on paper, inflation I get it, was expecting $7 but it was $8, plus tax, so it is actually not that competitive of a price anymore now that I think about it. I could get a very good quality boba drink for $7.50+tax elsewhere without all the fancy toppings, but with boba included. I was pretty disappointed with the quality. The boba is so overcooked that it is mushy, and the creme brulee was not thick enough that I have to use a spoon to even be able to get any of it out (instead of being able to drink it from the other side which is what it is supposed to be). I'd avoid this place unless this is a one off but I will need to be redeemed a better experience before recommending this place. There are better options in the area

In long This is part of my new regular tour of Edmonds coffee spots since I'm down here a time or two a week these days. Ladro has lots of fans and it's easy to see why, even if the smaller mom-and-pop places get higher rates around here. Ladro deserves credit for doing everything right. This is an older strip mall, probably built around the time that phrase was coined. Wide variety of businesses, wonky shapes and angles in the parking lot. Inside, there's the big coffee bar on one side, and tables and chairs over there. They have some merch for sale, including plenty of choices among their own house-roasted beans. Lots of blends, and even a few interesting-looking single-origin bags, too. Not any cheaper than the big premium roasters charge. I'd have to try some of the beans before I could say if that seems justified, but I bet it might be. You can order ahead, but not only did I choose to order manually, I went inside and looked the poor kids in the eye. They all seemed to enjoy each others' company, and their nice work environment translates into a nice ambiance for relaxing with a cup. I ordered chai lattes to go, and they were boiling hot and tasted like they were from a tea bag (not the sugar-bomb concentrate that some places use). I also had a brown butter scone that was great even at room temp. They didn't get overly chatty making the drinks, but they were definitely friendly, and everything was ready quickly. Nice kid clocking off for the day even held the door for me as we went out, given that my hands were full. Honestly, if you didn't know this was a chain (albeit a small, local one), you'd think this place existed simply to caffeinate locals in the neighborhood. Everything about it has that nice neighborly, next-door vibe. They don't have anything quirky about them, really, and that huge pastry case is definitely not filled by on-site bakeries at every location. But it all still FEELS like a friendly spot down the street from home. 2 coffees and a scone were about $20 before tip. Could be better, could be worse. I'd definitely come back.

Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #73…read more You'd think it would be a prime spot for more competition, but Oasis Tea Zone is the only boba shop in downtown Edmonds. I was initially hesitant on visiting since based on their menu, they seem like a first wave type of boba shop that mainly uses powders and syrups. After seeing that they have $3 drinks during Happy Hour from 2-4 PM on weekdays, however, I decided to give them a chance. Royal Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, 50% Ice ($3) - The milk tea has decent black tea flavor, albeit a bit generic, the sweetness at half is right on the dot for a typical half sweetened drink, and half ice isn't too much. The drink is on the powdery side, which leaves a kind of residue that coats the mouth after each sip. I'm wondering if they use perhaps powdered tea in their drinks? Still, there aren't any offensive tastes in the drink, which made it better than expected. The boba is surprisingly good. The pearls are smooth spheres and exhibit both very good chew and bounce, but don't seem to be soaked that much in syrup. They are perhaps a bit firmer than perfect, but are pleasant to chew on. The amount of boba they serve in a cup isn't enough for the entire drink - with about a quarter of the drink left, the boba was all gone. While the drink has some issues, the value for $3 really can't be beat. I think this is the cheapest boba I've gotten in the US ever. Milk Tea Rating: 3/5 Boba Rating: 4.5/5 I walked into Oasis Tea Zone with apprehension, but came out very pleasantly surprised. I would stop by again, happy hour or otherwise, whenever I visit downtown Edmonds. Note: Oasis Tea Zone charges a 3% fee for credit cards Edit: I visited again, ordering the same drink. This time, the drink seems to be more heavily leaning towards the creamer, leaving the taste of the tea in the dust. In addition, there's a bit of a strange coffee-ish taste and the boba is much more firm than previous. This is more of a 3* drink rather than 4*. Still leaving the review as a 4, but it seems there might be consistency issues. Then again, the drink is only $3 before tax/tip, a value that can't be beaten.

I think it would get a little mundane if you were to eat the whole thing yourself but it's not bad. The banana bread donut isn't really a donut. More so a banana bread Bundt cake. It was nice, slightly sweet with what tasted like whipped browned butter.
