Unfortunately every year, my mum's birthday happens to fall on the same weekend or near Mother's Day, so when we came in on Monday at 7 PM, there were only a few patrons dining. We noticed the same thing at several other restaurants nearby as well, since many people had already celebrated and spent money over the weekend. So the quieter atmosphere definitely didn't reflect the quality of the restaurant at all. First of all, the restaurant itself was beautiful -- we absolutely loved the ambiance. We ordered the Cod Pasta, another creamy pasta dish, and the Seafood Paella, and everything was amazing. My mum can't eat foods with high sodium, so we especially appreciated that the dishes were flavorful and delicious without being overly salty. Our server, Mike, was incredibly kind and provided excellent service throughout the evening. At the end of dinner, he even surprised my mum with Italian ice cream for her birthday, and it was just as delicious as the rest of the meal. Huge thanks to Mike for making the night extra special. This will definitely become one of our favorite spots from now on! read more

It's the quaintest cutest spot in town. I love the friendly servers and the ambiance is really comfortable. The cost is not over the top (especially for HH). The ravioli portion of the menu is where it's at! I will continue to frequent this spot. read more

Had not been here in years. It was nice to come back for dinner. It was good and filling. I have no complaints whatsoever.

Food was delicious and a good size. The burrata was fresh and light. I got the penne aurora with spicy sausage and loved it, although the crème sauce was hard on my stomach later. My parents got the chicken Marsala and pumpkin ravioli which they didn't have any complaints about. Ambiance was close and warm (not too loud). -1 star because I think our server's shift ended and I saw them leave, and the next server didn't come to greet us for a long time. Come to find out this is an Edmonds institution, so of course i had to try it! I adore the alcoves and outdoor elements of Girardi's. It's an oasis in center of town. I've never seen Live grapevines in a restaurant environment before and was sold the moment i saw them. Foodwise, it's all about familia, social and comfort plates made for conversation and life in Edmonds. Think year-round entertaining in your living room with a great staff helping you host (you must ask for Sigrid). Can't wait for Fall/Winter dining around the restaurant's centerpiece, the fireplace! I don't have a favorite dish yet but we'll get there as i work thru this menu into winter season. There are plans here I look forward to following up on and reporting. The thing about legacy restaurants such as this one is there are cycles. I'm very excited for Girardi's because its second act might just be around the corner. Service was really good and atmosphere was nice. The food was not something I would ever go back for. I wasn't very hungry so I only got the calamari to snack on. It was very obviously just frozen sticks that were thrown in a frier. Worst calamari I've ever had. My sister got the wild boar ragu and it was also not up to snuff. I originally made reservations because it was my Father's 85th birthday. I specifically chose Girardi's because it is in Edmonds. It's a cozy little restaurant that is quite charming and has a fireplace. I made sure to mention that it was my Father's birthday and that we would be ordering dinner. There was no acknowledgment. I called back but could not reach anyone so I left a voice message so that I could make sure dessert was delivered (after dinner) with a candle, at the very least. No one returned my call. I have dined multiple times at Girardi's, throughout the last two decades, and have never experienced this kind of service...or lack of. Is it the new management? The waitress kept trying to sell us happy hour plates, telling us that we could save money and make our own meal by ordering off of the happy hour menu instead. First of all, I was a bit taken aback by this. She acted as if we were at the wrong restaurant. Secondly, the waitress honestly did not seem to know anything about my Father's birthday so someone must have dropped the ball. When we notified our waitress that we were not there for happy hour plates but for my Father's birthday dinner, she appeared put off, stopped smiling and responded (quite drily), "oh, so you want MEAL meals"? ....well, yes. We were celebrating a birthday with a birthday dinner. And just to be clear, we were sitting in the restaurant, not in the bar. ............... Nothing. There was no response from the waitress at all. I wish I could say that maybe the waitress was busy and that might, perhaps, be some sort of excuse for her attitude. There were three other tables in the restaurant and our waitress appeared to only be serving us and one other table. I could not understand why she was behaving in such a manner. We ordered wine and an appetizer. The waitress had no idea which glass was which and served my Father Riesling (which he hates) and served me Sauvignon Blanc (which I am not a fan of). No worries. We motored through it. We switched and called it good. I had ordered Chardonnay and my Father had ordered Pinot Gris. We had to specifically ask to order our main course as the waitress just walked away after we ordered our appetizers. I ordered the crab cakes and they did not disappoint. They were prepared and cooked exceptionally. My seashell pasta with lobster and prawns was delicious. I had ordered a side of bread to go with it (as a paid side) and had to ask for the bread mid meal. We never received our garlic bread. Instead, our waitress dropped off rosemary focaccia, which was not what we had ordered. Our waitress never brought out the dessert. We had to inform her that we actually wanted dessert. My Father likes his after dinner martini. She nearly ran away after he ordered and we had to stop her and let her know we wanted actual dessert as well. Our cheque was dropped off without so much as even a customary Thank you. I wish I knew why we received this kind of treatment. The food was wonderful, as usual, but the service makes me think that the employees must hate their jobs...and that is concerning. As we left, my Father and I commented that we had never seen a restaurant try to "down sell"as much as our waitress did. If the new standard is just to push $5 Happy Hour plates then why have such a detailed dinner menu? The food is wonderful but the service was absolutely painful. read more

Valentine's Day reservations!!!! Cute little restaurant, kind of crowded and the tables were close together. With the decor it makes the place seem warm and cozy. If you don't mind the noise it would be great for a date. Definitely not trendy but more comfortable. We showed up ten minutes early for our reservation. We waited 27 minutes for our waiter to show up and take drink orders. I get that it's valentines and super busy but almost 30 minutes is inexcusable. Our waiter was nice and very apologetic. He said he didn't even know we were here... I'm writing this as we wait because well I need something to do in addition to embarrassing the wifey with dad jokes. Quick! What's better than a good friend! A good friend with chocolate!!!! I'm pretty disappointed that the restaurant nickels and dimes you for anything they can think of. They charge for bread, they charge an extra five bucks to split your plate(no family style for you!), mandatory gratuity in case you have bad service.... Meh As I sit here waiting though the food looks and smells delicious. They delivered some focaccia bread which was warm and aromatic. It was super soft, needed a hair more salt, and tasted like a warm hug between sweatered friends in the middle of winter. Comforting.... My son who has the refined palette of a snapping turtle looked longingly at the last slice after we shut him down on this third piece. He did great work spreading the olive oil over the dinner table though. Boy! Daughter had kids spaghetti in marinara sauce. Huge portion, adult size, but someone committed sacrilege and overcooked the pasta. Heathens!!! Marinara was as good as my wife's, not as good as noona's. Needed freshly ground pepper. Son had tricolored tortellini in pesto. It was a saucy wench. Herbaceous with good flavor. Needed freshly ground pepper. I'm detecting a pattern... Wifey had seafood linguine. And omg people stop overcooking your pasta. Tasted like soft bleh. For the good of all mankind! Stop overcooking your pasta! And fricken offer freshly ground pepper! Wife did NOT like it. Said she felt like the small seafood come out of a freezer bag. I dunno, she has a better palate than me. I just thought it was tasteless. Finally I myself can out with the big winner! Their paella! Or risotto! Or paella! It's called paella. It doesn't have any socorrat like paella. Didn't come out in a pan like paella. The rice was soft like a risotto. But the coloring was paella, the toppings was paella. If it didn't have that delicious sausage in it it would definitely need some fricken freshly ground pepper! The dish was seriously loaded with the most seafood I ever ever seen in a single serving. It was too big for me to eat by myself and daddy's a big big boi. Loved the sausage even though I'm a seafood person. Seriously bummed there was no crusty rice/socorrat. A few of the clams and mussels had me eating sand which wasn't pleasant. Price for two adults and two kids came out to about $160. Take it for what it is.. a little pricey. The way the paella came out I would say worth it! If I had a dish like my wife's... hell naw! All in all despite my 3 stars I would love to come back on a quiet evening to see how business is as normal. I'm sure a lot of the issues was due to being in the middle of dinner rush on valentines. Maybe they might even offer freshly ground pepper... most of the issues I seen were minor course adjustments versus failures. Honestly get rid of the nickel and dime stuff. Saturday lunch on the outside patio. So nice to have a meal worth going out and paying for! What luck that the cherry tree was dropping blossoms. We were greeted by friendly staff. Service was prompt and attentive. Wild Mushroom Ravioli appetizer was delicious. The cream sauce was not heavy so you could really enjoy the flavor of the mushrooms. I went there last night for dinner. I was very impressed with the atmosphere, and the gas fireplace in the center of the restaurant. It was very nice to sit next to it after coming from the cold outside. The staff was very prompt and professional. I ordered Chicken Marsala. It was vey tender and delicious. It came with pasta Alfredo, that exceptional. I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio, that was recommended by the staff that was the best I've ever tasted. Service was friendly but slow. We weren't really served until everyone else in the restaurant has left for the night. We figure this was because we were a large group so the tip was automatically applied to our bill. Lobster bisque and garlic bread was delicious and quite filling. I would not recommend the wild mushroom risotto. I wasn't creamy and had very few mushrooms which all seemed to be just standard crimini. It did have alot of peas (probably frozen) and some asparagus (which is out of season, so those were probably frozen too.) Wallpaper in the room we were in was peeling and moldy down by the floor. We no longer go out to eat due to the astronomical prices being charged unless it's a special occasion. This past Saturday, my Mother in law and I treated ourselves to what we thought was going to be amazing food! That was not the case. We arrived around 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon for an early dinner before heading to our destination. The place had 2 other tables that were each occupied. My MIL ordered tea, and got hot water and a tea bag, I had to go ask the waitress for sugar and cream. Then she misunderstood that we wanted bread (which is not complementary! Costs $5.95) so we never got that, the Ceaser salad was doused in bottled sauce, and the entrees were worse. My MIL ordered the Rissoto and prawns. She got the smaller portion and immediately asked for lemon as there was zero flavor. Mine took the cake if the cake was dropped on the floor and stepped on. I ordered the Chicken Marsala, and it was simply inedible. There was like a full pound of overcooked pasta that was smush, a very, very oily sauce and the chicken tasted like it was frozen, then unfrozen, etc. I ate likec2 mushrooms (those were good), and asked for the plate to be taken away. While they did remove the dish from the bill, the whole experience was awful. Zero energy, zero attention and anticipation to your guests needs. I have eaten around the globe and this was by far both the worst and saddest experience I've had. Your food should be beyond perfection ESPECIALLY with the prices your charging. We have been here before, but will sadly not return again. read more

Came here with a great friend for dinner. He has an office in downtown Edmonds, so we met for dinner. Lovely location was my first impression. Nice fireplace and lots of vegetation. Started out with the Cioppino. I love seafood soup, so wanted to try this. Menu says it consists of " Mussels, clams, mussel meat, calamari, shrimp, and lobster meat in marinara sauce." Unfortunately, the soup had very dry and overcooked bits of seafood, in a bland tomato base. The crosonti bread that came with it was good, especially if you dipped it in the broth. Had to spit out the hard morsels of overcooked fish, that were difficult to chew. Next, ordered the Linguine Ai Frutti Di Mare, while my friend had the Porchetta Roast. We were both underwhelmed by our entrees. Especially since they come with prepackaged frozen vegetables, reheated in the microwave. Linguine has a very small portion of again, overcooked seafood. Porchetta was very dry and overall chewy, Disappointed in our food. Service was good, could tell the server was accustomed to people not enjoying their food. Not surprised that we did not finish our food or ask for it to go. Nice location, good service but unacceptable food. read more

At the stroke of 6, the 5 of us slid into our seats for dinner. Wait staff quickly took drink orders. Girardi's is nearly famous for its endless happy hour. There's an extensive menu which I scanned and landed on Cod Tacos on the "fresh sheet". Around the table there were 2 orders of Mushroom Linguini, a Beet Salad and another Cod. We added Bruschetta and Garlic Toast. We enjoyed catching up while the chef prepared our meals. My cod had a crispy exterior and a slaw like salad tossed around it. We dined on a Sunday, mid day. The restaurant was about 25% full and they had one server - who was super kind and delightful- didn't get her name. Service was slow but helpful- and that was ok as we were not in any hurry and wanted to visit. The restaurant is a little dated on interior and the ambiance is ok - but it was quiet and we were able to really enjoy our group. We ordered the green beans and goat cheese bruschetta to start. Dinner was salmon, wild boar parpadelle smoked salmon ravioli and a seafood pasta. The Parpadelle was a little dry- but the kitchen made us extra sauce ( yeah!!) We were celebrating a birthday - and they made the nicest gluten free chocolate cake- decorated with candy and a candle. What a nice thing to do. We will be back for sure! I have no idea what happened to this restaurant. It used to be in my top 3 restaurants in all of Washington State. I took my friend out for her birthday last week around 4:30 in the evening. The restaurant was not even 25 percent full. The service was awful. Our server was inattentive and made us wait to get drinks, refills, take our order, and just in general did not have her timing down for a good dining experience. I dunno, maybe it was because she was freezing. She was wearing a winter jacket over her uniform as if she was too cold, wanting to leave, or just got there and hadnt got her groove down yet. Anyway, the prices have gone up quite a bit and portions seem to have shrunk. Also, so many menu favorites are now gone and the happy hour menu has shrunk to almost nothing. It used to be so crowded in the restaurant during happy hour but apparently they are not wanting that to be their draw any longer as it is almost non existent. My friend ordered a pasta dish and I ordered a salad. I asked for chicken on the salad as a protein. My friend was almost done eating her dinner before my salad came out (15 min, no joke, without an apology or even acknowledgement from the server). I received my salad and a small plate with a small sad chicken breast on it. The chicken was not cut up and it was a very off putting way to serve chicken that I asked to have on a salad. To add to it, they charged me $8.95 for the chicken breast which was maybe 3 oz and barely seasoned. After this experience, I am not prone to go back and certainly not for a special occasion. I was actually embarrassed that I told her it was one of my very favorite restaurants before bringing her. Sadly, Girardis has now dropped to the places I probably wont visit again. Gave this place three chances. As a general rule, beware of any Italian restaurant that doesn't make its own bread. This place definitely has the atmosphere of a nice restaurant, and the wait staff has been friendly and attentive every time I've gone, but unfortunately the food is very mediocre. Nothing tastes fresh and the sauces seem to be out of a jar bought from the supermarket. Also, I'm pretty sure that their garlic toast is just frozen Texas toast from the supermarket as well. The only other nice thing I can say about this restaurant is that they are open when many others in downtown Edmonds aren't, otherwise with Bucatini just up the road there is no reason to go here. read more

Stopped in for dinner, there was lots of seating inside and even through we didn't have a reservation we were able to sit down as soon as we arrived. The menu has a large selection to pick from and they have an all day, everyday "happy hour" but that really just means you can pick between a smaller serving size of larger serving size. They do have daily specials which feature an actual discount. We went for the calamari fries, boar ragu parpadelle, and pork shank with wild mushrooms linguine. The calamari sticks breading reminded me exactly the same flavor and texture of fish sticks, surprisingly very good! It came with aioli and a sweet chili sauce. The boar ragu flavoring was way heavily spiced with cinnamon, it was so much that it was almost off putting. The texture of the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente though. The highlight of the night was the pork shank. It was so amazingly tender, seasoned perfectly and cut like butter with just a fork. The mushroom linguine was alright because the pork stole the spotlight. All in all not bad for dinner and would come again but probably only for when their menu is actually discounted. read more

We had the worst experience at this place. I wanted to take my girls out for a special lunch, so we went to this restaurant we had been eating at for the last 15 years. We have noticed the service getting worse over the previous 2 years but decided to give it one more try, as it was once a place we dined at, at least once a week. We waited to be seated as requested and decided to site on the front deck. A waitress arrived about 10 minutes later, we ordered apps and told the waitress we would order lunch, but needed just a minute to decide. The apps arrived about 15 minutes later and we NEVER saw our server again. I tried to flag down the server standing next to us engaged with her customers at the next table, but she seemed to not notice. After 23 minutes of waiting AFTER we finished our appetizers, I went inside to get the bill. I told the 4 SERVERS STANDING there that we had been waiting to order lunch and they seemed so uninterested. Not one offered to take our order. Mind you I have been in the service industry for 30+ years, I was not rude to my fellow service workers. I know what it is like to work for 20 hours straight because co-workers do not show up for work. But I also understand that feeding the guests IS THE JOB and that service should have been offered. Some apology and acknowledgment would have been nice. Well, all things must come to an end. I am sorry to leave this restaurant, but one should NEVER stay in a bad relationship and this one just kept getting worst. read more
