Such a lovely and beautiful place! I've been to Edmonds numerous times and never knew this existed until now. My god sis and I agreed to meet up here and catch up! The restaurant is a vibe; nice inside, cool bar and an even better patio with strung lights! We each got an appetizer to share; stuffed mushrooms and cauliflower. The stuffed mushrooms were delicious! We each shared 2 pizzas; my fave was the nectarine prosciutto pizza (this is BOMB!) and flavors were exquisite! If you don't like fruit on pizza tho, I definitely recommend trying it at least once. We shared the Zeppole for dessert (almost like beignets but they're like mini donuts and came with a just right tasty caramel sauce!) The mocktails are pretty good; recommend the strawberry cooler! Went there with friends who had not been before. We were seating immediately by our friendly hostess. We got there before the dinner crowd so service was excellent. All through the meal service was great. We ordered off of both the Happy Hour and main dinner menu. The HH menu is not a "great" deal as the portions are fairly small. In this case you get what you pay for which is fine if you want small plates. Not content with my small portion of pasta, I ordered also the "smash burger". It was not a smash burger at all but a full-on double patty hamburger that was dripping in sauce. What a letdown! A total fail, although it tasted ok, but for $22, I expected much more. I've been to Epulo many times and will probably return but there are too many other less expensive options close by for me to run back. This for me is a "special occasion" type of place. read more

We all thought the Wagyu short rib dish was the best thing on the table, w the sprouts coming in at second place. The Yukon pizza was unique and I think I'd get it again just to change things up. This a nice spot in Edmonds for some nice appetizers and entrees. The service was friendly and the inside was very clean and nice. Only complaint I'd have is you have to walk through the server line to get to the bathroom which feels strange as I had to shuffle between employees trying to run food and such. As someone who works in a restaurant I couldn't imagine customers walking through the line during a rush so I feel bad for the employees. Happy hour has good offerings but a lot of prices are definitely up, competing with main menu offerings. Visited after work on a weekday and it was fairly quiet, maybe close to 5 other parties inside and outside. Despite this, their outdoor seating was supposedly booked up and we sat inside. By the time we left, maybe one other party had been seated outside. I found this strange and a poor experience for walk ins, but it happens. Truffle Frites - can't go wrong with fries as an appetizer, happy hour snack, or conversation starter. These ones are topped well and include a garlic aioli sauce that's creamy, bold, and balances out the grease. However, the fries by themselves are tasty without the sauce. Just don't expect much because fries at the end of the day, are just fries. Clams - slightly salty clams swimming in a pool of tomato broth results in a nice aroma with each bite. Clams weren't anything special but the broth was comforting. This comes with two pieces of a baguette which were seasoned and toasted perfectly. While they can soak up the tomato broth for an enhanced taste, they were delicious on their own. Short Rib Pappardelle - super creamy pasta mixed with tender beef is a tale as old as time. Delightful combination that melts in your mouth and is pleasant to eat. Would definitely order this again and it's easily shareable too. read more

We needed to go out for a special meal. It's been a while since we ate out just to be special for no particular reason except to thank my friend for selling her sister's car to us. First of all, we did make reservations, but we were stuck in a dark corner. The room was noisy but with all the hard surfaces there was really nothing to absorb the noise. My friend was late due to an accident on the freeway. So we ordered drinks and the fried artichoke appetizer. My Riesling was very good. Husband ordered a pink drink. It looked like a lady's drink, but he liked it. At least the taste of it. Our friend finally showed up we ordered another plate I'd the fried artichokes. Then finally dinner. I ordered the risotto which I found to be very tasty. Husband ordered a pasta dish That I found to be very tasty, tastier than my dish, even though I liked my risotto. Our friend ordered a pizza. I believe this issue falls on the kitchen. What I received would not have been enough for even one person, let alone two dinners. For the price, I expected something far more substantial. While the flavors might be fine, the food options and portioning for to-go orders are simply not worth it. I left feeling frustrated after getting home and seeing how little food there was. I did not even eat my meal, I gave it to my mother. She assumed I had already eaten my portion while inside, but when I explained it was the entire to-go order, she was upset as well. I've been here a few times and have never had a bad experience! Staff are always friendly, food is delicious, vibes are nice, and nobody makes it awkward that you feel like you're walking through the kitchen to get to the restrooms (which are also nice, by the way). Some friends and I came in for dinner and ordered a smattering of things, all of which were so good! I'm always partial to anything with short rib, which they do so well. Their short rib plate is delicious, and they were offering a special at the time which was a short rib pizza - YUM. Situated on the south side of the Art museum building the space has a wall of windows that let in the light. A bit too much so at 6PM. They have effective shades that dial down the sun's brightness until it has sunk slowly in the West. The food was not stellar. Good, but unremarkable. The Pear Salad w/Chevre and pecans was good. It suffered from too little of the thin sliced pear. My Lobster Risotto lacked flavor. The rice was too dry. The grains need to stick together, hold the flavor of the broth and seasoning and giving the dish the creamy texture it needs. My friend had the lasagna. He didn't comment on it although, he ate it all. Service was good. Our server was on time. There were an ample number of support staff. Some of who were attentive. The restaurant appeared to be full. The party to our left finished about an hour before us. Tables in our area emptied and we had our quiet conversation. It was good, but not cheap fun. My partner and I came on the recommendation of another couple who liked this place, so we had dinner here on a recent Monday night. We didn't have a lot of time to just eat and relax as we were in a rush to get somewhere else right after, but I had scoped the menu out beforehand and knew what I wanted. We ordered the Pumpkin Quinoa Salad, the Campanelle Ala Pistachio, and I got a Cherry Bomb mocktail for myself. I will say that the Campanelle Ala Pistachio was what I wanted, as a fan of both pesto and nuts like pistachio. We both happily ate that up. I expected the roasted pumpkin to be warm in the salad, since that's how I would have done it myself, but it was chilled and cold. I don't consider that bad, but it wasn't my preference especially on a cold night. However the major disruption to our dinner was in the middle of conversation that while I was sipping my mocktail through the straw, my tongue hit something weird and stringy. My partner watched as I stared, confused and shocked, while pulling a very long blonde hair out of the straw. The end of the hair was embedded in a small piece of macerated cherry. I imagine what might have happened was the bartender lost a hair in the cherry mix while preparing my drink. While I guess this shows the drink was made fresh, it certainly didn't feel sanitary having pulled another human's hair out of my straw (and there's no way they could claim it's mine since I have dark hair). I lost my appetite for the drink immediately and ended up ordering a different kind. While our server whisked the old drink away fairly quickly, it didn't feel much like an apology. The Mocking Pear was much better though so I didn't feel the need to complain any further. I'm open to trying this place out again when the menu rotates, but I also hope their bar is a little more careful next time, that was definitely not the best first impression! read more

We went there again last Wednesday night for my birthday celebration. It was a nice night but the food was a little underwhelming. We ordered 2 pasta dishes and one veggie dish and one pizza to share. All the dishes had good flavors, but the pastas in both dishes were waaay over cooked, which was too bad. None of us really cared for hammered pasta. The staff was attentive, but it was after 8 pm when we got our food. We did not feel like sending them back. I chose the banana bread pudding for my birthday dessert. It was too sweet for me. I did not really care for it. Epulo is definitely one of the nicer restaurants in Edmonds. The restaurant is beautiful and their landscaping just adds a special touch to it all. But I feel like their quality of food is slipping a little bit. read more

We arrived early and upon entry was informed our table was ready and they could seat us. We were seated at a table close to the bar. A server took our drink order as we waited for our friends. I ordered a prosecco and it came in an old style champagne class! Felt so elegant. Once our friends arrived our server came to the table to take their drink order. We engaged in conversation which was animated and would have been hard for a server to interrupt. Upon delivery with their drinks we had not even decided on our dinner yet, she told us she would come back. We quickly studied the menu, although I knew what I wanted because I had studied it when we arrived early. For appetizers we ordered the Brussels sprouts and cauliflower...simple but delicious and a perfect item to complement our dishes. I ordered the fusilli formaggio...the cheesy sauce was so delicious I could not stop eating it and had to tell myself I was full. Other orders at the table was pizza and the lamb shank. The lamb shank looked amazing..,..nothing was left on my friend's plate. We all shared a chocolate mousse which was creamy delicious. I'd say we were there for 2 hours and never felt rushed to leave. Our server somehow knew when it was time to come to the table. She took excellent care of us. I had been to this restaurant 10 years prior in their other location. A very attractively priced 'Happy Hour' menu that offers a surprisingly wide variety of drinks, appetizers, starters, and mains at very reasonable prices. Efficient service. THE THORNS: To be brutally honest, the food is rather 'hit and miss'. A tomato-coconut bisque lacked richness and flavor. If the menu didn't mention that there was coconut milk in it, I wouldn't have known - tastewise, it was MIA. My short rib tagliatelle was really tough and stringy (let's face it: while Short Ribs may still be kind of the 'It Girl' of proteins, the ugly truth is everyone thinks they can cook it, but few do it well). The staff, while efficient, did seem a bit harried. WHY ONLY THREE STARS? Let's face it: there are a LOT of Italian restaurants out there, and EB, while competent, doesn't stand out. It comes across as an somewhat upscale version of Olive Garden, which probably appealed to the clientele that was as bland as the eatery; it was a very white, Boomer/GenX, upper-middle class, middlebrow, 'Polo-shirt-and-Dockers, Nordstrom-shopping, Kenny G-listening kind of crowd. If this sort of environment is your jam, you'll like it here. THE VERDICT: Epulo Bistro isn't bad. It ain't great either. It's like a ball player who can consistently deliver base hits, but never swings for the bleachers. It's kind of like the boyfriend/girlfriend that your parents like, but who just doesn't make you feel all tingly in the nether regions before a date. Sorry, I'm just being honest. It was extremely cheesy and just overall not something I would ever get again. The menu description made it sound appetizing, but it was honestly terrible. My husband and I dined here for the first time today and had an AMAZING experience. We were celebrating a special occasion and all the staff helped it feel extra special, but even if we weren't celebrating this is a fantastic place. The staff were knowledgeable, kind and attentive, and the food was 10/10. The menu has good variety but is small enough that they perfect each dish. Seating inside and out is comfortable and but not too crowded. There were people dressed up for dates and also families with young children and all were enjoying themselves. Had dinner here one night and loved the beautiful design and atmosphere of the restaurant as well as enjoyed great service and food. I met someone for a business dinner here and we were seated just inside the bar area with a beautiful view of their outside seating area and the dining room. I thought the atmosphere was really upscale and intimate and immediately added this to my list for future date night spots with my husband. Our server was helpful and attentive and made ordering gluten free easy. While there were so many delicious looking options with gf designations next to them on the menu, I couldn't turn down the delicious specials of a local ingredients salad with walnuts and a wonderful tasting cod. I'm a big fan of Epulo Bistro. I've dined outside, I've dined inside and found one to be relaxing and the other to be charming. I love the atmosphere. It was a captivating quality to its aesthetics. The only time I've gone is during the week, early in the day so typically the restaurant isn't too busy when I'm there. I am an absolute sucker for their cheeseburger. I find it to be utterly delicious - a savory, seasoned patty with plenty of cheese and a soft bun. Their fries are good, but typically I have no room for even a single fry after eating this gigantic burger. It is very filling! The cocktails are on an ever changing list. While they do have staples I typically gravitate toward the seasonal selection which can be hit or miss. I particularly loved their summer variety and had found fall and winter not quite as appealing to me. The service ranges from average to excellent. I've had waitresses who were kind and professional to waitresses who offer suggestions, crack a joke, and really put the welcoming effort. I imagine I will return again in the near future. read more

The menu may appear to be small, but it's very all encompassing offering something for every preference. Everything we ordered was really good, excellent ingredients made great small dishes. The customer service is superb, I made reservations via OpenTable being that our party consist of two under the age of two, I always make a point to leave very detailed notes to ensure the staff can accommodate our party. I greatly appreciate walking into Epulo and our table (and it's location,) being prepared for us. The private enclosed room definitely caught my attention, I will be utilizing for work purposes.
