Feel like you're eating at your auntie's house, just feel like a chill vibe on a weekday evening. Families and friends coming and eating. Only on waiter when we were but dude is so friendly and hustles. Portion sizes are awesome. Bossam was delicious and I loved the banchan. The spicy cold noodle wasn't spicy at all and very refreshing on a summer night. 100% would recommend and if you get the Bossam special, consider sharing it with 4 people because we definitely couldn't finish it with 2 people. We ordered the makgeolli as our drink which was included as a choice in the special. For about $72 with tax, pretty worth it imo for a meal that feeds 4 with an alcoholic drink. Will definitely be back and it's wild they're open to 2 am on Friday and Saturday (possibly for summer hours only).
My husband and I were craving Korean food, and a friend recommended this spot for their bossam. The restaurant was pretty packed when we arrived. It seemed like they were a bit short staffed, but the team was still very nice and quick when I asked for extra banchan and garlic. We ordered the bossam combo, and the portions were HUGE! Easily enough to feed 3-4 people. The bossam itself was delicious, especially when paired with their kimchi. The combo also included spicy cold noodles + an alcohol beverage. This was definitely too much food for 2 people, but no complaints since we had plenty of leftovers for the next day. We'll definitely be back, but next time with more people!
Before watching the movie, we decided to try the chicken at Gilson Korean restaurant. The golden, saucy chicken and the seafood tofu soup were so delicious! We didn't realize the portions would be so big, totally worth it for the leftovers. The server was very nice, and even though he was the only one working, he was quick and easy to communicate with. The place has a great vibe, and we were glad to get a non-KBBQ table, so we didn't leave smelling like food. We loved it, such a great find! I forgot to capture everything we try to rush for only one hour before we watch a movie.
FOOD: Phenomenal food. The fried chicken is phenomenal and life changing. I've tried a lot of fried chicken and nothing has ever come close to beating the fried chicken from this restaurant. 1000/10 Service: Great service, kind people, can't complain. 10/10 Ambiance: Love the lighting, nice hole-in-the-wall place. 10/10
Some of the best Bossam I ever had. Also ordered a Kimchee stew but forgot to take a picture of it. Will be back next time I'm craving Bossam
Absolutely amazing food! We ordered full entrees off the menu and did not do the kbbq so this review will not include that. Initially they showed us to a large spacious table for our party of 6 but after we said we werent interested in bbq they moved us to a corner table in the back. The new table was smaller and cramped, luckily this was the only annoyance and the food was so dang good I didnt care afterwards. We ordered the Bossam, its 40+$ but easily shares with with our party of 6. If I did not come with friends I wouldve never known to order this and it was amazing. So much steamed pork belly served fresh kimchi, garlic and jalapeno I immediately want to come back. We also ordered a seafood pancake and the intestines with toepokki, every dish was full of flavor, crispy, and filling. Cant recommend this place enough.
Good experience, would go back. Pleasant and reasonably attentive service. Food exceeded expectations.
Been here twice and forgot to review the first time. I got a beef soup the first time and then jokbal with another soup another time. All of the food is very good and same with the banchan. Didn't do the kbbq so no idea how that was but I really enjoyed the things that I ordered. Service is usually pretty quick and they weren't too busy the times I've gone but it's been later in the evenings.
We tried bossam, which was soooooo good. I can say this is the best bossa in this area. I think they make their kimchi themselves. It doesn't taste the same as market kimchi. It's unique and super tasty. I'm already coming here often to eat this bossa. Other dishes are so good too. You should definitely come and try. The ambiance is like common Korean authentic restaurant, it gives you nostalgic feeling. Also, the servers are so kind and gives you the best service.
The food is delicious, the atmosphere is good, the inside is clean, the bathroom is clean, I like everything except the service, which is not very good. There are not enough employees for the number of guests who come to eat in the restaurant. The employees try to avoid their eyes, not daring to look at the customers' faces for fear that the customers will call them. By the time we could call the staff, we had eaten until we were full and we just wanted more things. By the time we could call the staff, we didn't need those things.
WOW! Love, love, love this restaurant! Here in Edmonds to visit my daughter and stopped by for dinner. Service was Sooo nice and the place looks so cozy! Love it. Oh my the food was the BEST!!!
Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - Spicy Pork Intestines was a bit sweet but so good! The rice cake was cooked well and still had a chewy texture without becoming too tough or mushy. Texture was a bit chewier than expected rather than super crispy. It looked like a small serving initially but quite filling Soft Tofu Soup with beef was a bit sweet too which was surprising initially and a bit too much at the end. The tofu was so soft and the meat actually absorbed the soup flavor Spicy Cold Noodles was a generous serving. Simple with just lettuce, cabbage, and noodles with sauce but very satisfying. Ambience: N/A - ordered food to go. Have pop songs on which is a bit loud. Not very good ventilation. Very rustic feel Service: 5/5 - very attentive for the to go orders even when 4 parties walked in within 5 minutes of each other Value for price: 4/5 - the protein dishes are all quite pricey and we decided not to get KBBQ due to price and minimum of 2 proteins. However, everything we got was tasty even if a bit on the sweeter side.
Small Korean restaurant in Edmonds located in its own building in the parking lot of a plaza along Hwy 99. Got to Edmonds at around 8pm due to ferry delays. The other Asian restaurants were either closed or weren't seating new customers, but this place was open until 11pm. The place was quite lively when we got there and most of the seats were taken as we were dining. They serve a variety of Korean dishes. Korean BBQ is available, but not all of the tables have grills. We got an order of the fried wings which was 16 total pieces. We got half with the sauce and half without. The chicken was tasty. The outer skin and batter form a crunchy shell that's not overly flaky but easy to bite through. The wings with the sauce has a little sweet flavor to it. We also got the spicy beef soup as recommended by our server. Turned out to be an excellent recommendation. The soup bowl was sizable, and it was filled with ingredients including beef and glass noodles/vermicelli. Flavor was abundant but not really spicy. Also they served six banchan, which is a good variety. A good option (and maybe the only option) for a late dinner in that area.
Not only is this one of the best deals for the portion size in the area, but the flavor is also amazing. The sesame oil they were using was especially fragrant when we went. The kimchi that came with the bossam was one of our favorites. Everything was tasty. read more
Service a little slow but a good sign that there were a lot of Asian/ Koreans in the restaurant. Banchan was good and they brought out more without asking. We both ordered the stone bi bim bap $19.99. Lots of rice, barely any beef though. Other patrons were doing the BBQ grill which looked good - I think it was $65 but not sure if that was per person. read more

My partner and I stopped here for dinner on our first night of our trip. The ambiance was super inviting and the staff was kind and helpful. They immediately brought us side dishes while we waited for our food. We had the fire chicken, corn cheese and seafood pancake with a bottle of soju as well . We will definitely be returning to this place next time we're in the area! read more

We came here on a weekday with a group of friends and the restaurant was not busy middle of the week. We had a group of 6 and got sat at the booth, they added a chair at the end of the table for us. We ordered: - mixed chicken wings basket - pork belly for the grill - short ribs for the grill - seafood pancake I was super unimpressed with the seafood pancake, I have had better. The pancake was not crispy enough to our liking. Out of everything we had, the chicken wings were the best! Both flavors of the chicken wings were good. All the other dishes here were just ok. The chicken wings were everyone's favorite. read more

The food was okay. The tofu soup is too sweet than the traditional soon dubu. Yuk Ke Jjang can be more tasty. The service was good but the place is very cold. They could use more heater. read more

We decided to stop by Gilson on the way back from Vancouver, and were really happy to find a restaurant open late! Although Gilson does have kbbq, we decided on getting soups. The banchan at this place is phenomenal- the fish cakes and the kimchi were so good, and our waiter noticed that we finished them immediately so he came to refill! I ordered a Galbitang, and I'm inclined to say it's the best Galbitang I've had in the Seattle area. The meat wa SO good and tender, and the broth was really flavorful. Definitely worth the price and such a good experience. I'd love to come back for more Galbitang or to try their other options! read more

TURN THE FAN ON！TURN IT ON! The smell is so driving me nutsssss R u trying to save some electricity? The food is mediocre we drove half an hour to come here The problem is the service The guy with glasses is super friendly The guy with a peony tile is hard to handle Also we sat there for so long and they did not turn on the fan making our eyes are blowing My eyes are watering even after came back home It is literally driving me crazy!CRAZY! read more
I was recommended this place 2 days ago because my friend knew I love pork intestine!! Well, the price is kinda higher than most places but the food and 2 hour-drive worths it! I love Bossam here, the meat is so juicy and kimchi is so fresh that make a great combination together!! My niece and nephew love kalbi and the banchans, they first time said the Korean food is so bomb haha The intestine is juicy and good but I don't like brisket because it gettin dry when we grilled it! The chicken wings are kinda sweet for my taste but my bf said he likes it tho so it depends. I like the services here, they are so quick and never forget asking how we are doing and also gave us a soup for complimentary! Its so lovely of them! I will be back! Recommend: pork intestine, bossam, chicken wings, tofu soup :) read more

If you go to Gilson, get the Korean Fried Chicken Wings. The Golden Wings are amazing. The chicken is extra crispy and juicy once you bite into it and perfectly battered & seasoned. I recommend to do half and half for your first time here so you can figure out which flavor suits your preference. If you live up north and you have been driving down to Seattle to get Korean Fried Chicken, you can go save yourself some gas and go here. read more

Ordered intestines bbq, beef and vermicelli soup, and bassom with kimchi. Very authentic, feels like u are eating in Korea and not Seattle. The fresh kimchi was superb. Soup was really good too, loved the black pepper taste. Looking at their fried chicken for my next trip back. read more
Heard about their famous fried chicken and decided to try it. It's tender and crispy, overall pretty good. But not as juicy and flavorful as I wanted. They didn't have a big selection of banchan (side dishes) and was mainly spicy (which wasn't kid friendly since most kids can't eat spicy). We ordered the boneless short ribs and bone in short ribs for bbq. The bone in short rib kalbi was definitely more flavorful and juicy. However, you can taste they mix two kinds of kalbi together, (cheaper and one more expensive), as the cheaper one was more chewy and hard to digest. Tofu soup was mediocre, it was kind of salty from all the ham and sausage. Overall, we would come back again for their fried chicken and try some other dishes. read more

My friends kept recommending this place to me for Korean fried chicken. I must say, for the price, it's well worth it. We got the $31 special--which consisted of half and half chicken, fries, & and a pitcher of beer that could easily feed about 4 people. While I thought the chicken was just okay, I think this place is great to hangout and chill with a group of friends. Compared to stars in the sky, I think that the seasoned chicken here is better because it's definitely crispier. But for the original, plain fried chicken, star in the sky beats it by a landslide. read more

Ayyyyy, don't let the low / mixed ratings scare you off from this cute little place :) Due to the rain, couldn't take pictures of the exterior, but Gilson is one hard to miss restaurant! Armed with cute, twinkling Christmas-y lights, you can easily find this place off Hwy 99 (close to Ranch 99 area). There's ample parking next to the place and overall, if you don't see a lot of spaces open, chances are the place is busy. Came here on a Thursday night and it was super packed. Went to get boba and 30min ish after, my friend and I were lucky enough to score a table. Highlights of my dining experience: KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN = YUMMYLICIOUS. Hollllllyyyyy shi....so so good. You can get either an order of the traditional spicy & sweet, or the "golden" option (essentially fried chicken in its finest glory without sauces) or do the Half & Half. If you're a first timer, do the half and half option. For me, I personally dig the golden option since it was perfectly crispy, not too greasy, and the seasoning used makes it buttery and so so good. Seriously. Service: Despite the mixed reviews, the one guy server (who pretty much manned the entire floor with orders, bussing, etc) did a great job in checking in on us. We never really had to wait nor flag him down like crazy. Food time: I guess if you go during the "non peak" dining hours, wait time for food isn't very long. So happy to get my wingssss when I was in hungry bear mode. Other random things to note: Seafood pancake: Did get to try this item and it was alright. Tons of seafood (which is awesome) but a bit limp/oily. Otherwise, pretty good value for the portion size. Side dishes: Quite tasty! I love it when side dishes at Korean places have flavor to them. Do note: Fried chicken and seafood pancake does not include side dishes. We asked for the sides since we were mad hungry for food. Pricing: Everything is reasonable, more in the $10-$30s range, depending on what you order. Food Options: Other than the traditional Korean items, there is KBBQ here. Haven't tried it yet but my recommendation is to come early or late since there are limited grill tables. Interior: Restaurant is fairly small, so do expect a wait time if you go during the busy hours. Aiii. Already planning another trip here just for fried chicken. Also, gotta throw in some soju and beer next time ;D read more
Everything was delicious!! The service was great, the food came out in a reasonable time, and they even comped us some fries. We ordered the spicy intestines (highly recommend, it's not crazy spicy either), half half of the Korean fried chicken, grilled pork belly, and the boneless short ribs. It of course comes with banchan! 10/10 would come here again. Thank you for the hospitality! read more

The BBQ is pricey. At $20-30 a meat, it's pretty much hibachi/teppan prices. It's not all that large either, and there's no combo deal/sampler for meat, so I'm a little disenchanted by it. However, the bossam special ($45) shines. It comes with a cold Noodle, bossam, and Korean rice wine that you can sub for soju. This is enough food to split between 3 people. Their fried chicken is also great, it's a lot bigger than the wings at chi-mac. I love Gilson, but mainly for the bossam and chicken. Not worth for BBQ. read more
