This is a decent store. Actually it could be the largest TJ Maxx. Located in Fairfax Town Center, it's convenient to a lot of restaurants and other attractions. This is what I call "a diamond in the rough." There's a lot of clothing, and household design stuff. I go for clothes, and got a nice Patriots sweatshirt for $19.99. The same for a Columbia one that's very comfortable. Occasionally a decent deal on socks, underwear, and soap. Lines can be long here. Also it's strangely set up. You can use an escalator or elevator to get here. Nice employees although understaffed. It's Christmas time so that's a common occurrence. Shoes here are limited, along with cologne choices. read more

I haven't been to this location in a very long time. I had gone to Ross the week before and had so much luck, I wanted to see what TJ's had. I was shocked to see their prices. I went straight to the clearance rack for the womens dresses. CLEARANCE - was about $35 for a dress. I can get a dress that price at a normal department store. I went to check some other aisles and I did find one thing, but it is getting returned. It's crazy at what these lower end stores are charging. Back to ross I go! read more

This is more for Public awareness. My cashier cut herself on her finger trying to open a box of shirts to pull the electronic tag out. She looked at the cut, wiped the cut with her other finger and proceeded to check me out. There was blood on the white shirt and I pointed that out. Hmm..I have a problem - - in the past week, I have been in TJ Maxx stores in three states. I love TJ Maxx and I go at least once week (yah, that's likely a problem). This particular location HAS to be the most peculiar. Who knows, maybe this is how they are in this area of Virginia. I know an hour south, they are like "normal". :) Anyway, this location appears smaller. Not sure how much floor space they actually have, but at a minimum, the entrance w/ an escalator leading to the actual store might be giving the smaller appearance. Merchandise - like I wrote, I shop this place quite frequently, so I know the clothes, brands, styles. They did have several different dresses and lines that I have not seen before at TJM - - Betsey Johnson and Ivanka Trump dresses. Neither one was my style, but hey - I am not a fashionista. They had quite a bit of home goods featured for "dorm rooms" and whatnot. Also, noticed some of The North Face for kids. Super cute! I know I would return if I lived here, but not my favorite TJ Maxx by a stretch. Some good deals, but nothing amazing price or inventory wise. read more

I just came across the rudest employee at this location. We were checking out with her, she was trying to persuade us into applying for the tj maxx card and said "I'll give you the 10% discount today and next time you can apply for the card" we thought oh that's generous so we agreed. When we see the receipt there was no discounts we simply ask her why she didn't apply the discount. This is where she got very disrespectful, she got up in my moms face...my moms face and blamed her for "hearing what she wants" as well as interrupting us in a loud voice every chance she got. Never coming back to this store. Straight up rude employee. read more

The staff aren't friendly. Slowest cashiers on the planet. You will wait in line for at least 45 minutes before paying, even if there is just 3 people ahead of you and you have one item. When the like is long, the cashiers will see that, and still move as slow as a turtle. I would suggest another location to get what you need. read more

You get what you pay for. This location has always been messy, understaffed and a hit or miss. I also feel that in the past couple of years, TJ Maxx and Marshalls do not offer all the deals that they once did. Nevertheless, I still return. There still are some deals to be found... not as many as before. However, I'm not expecting department store customer service for discounted prices. read more

The offerings are diverse and the price is always right. Unfortunately, you need to dedicate time to sift through their products to find your gem. I guess it's all down to whether I have the spare time to spend to find the right item. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. Looks can be deceiving. From the outside the store looks big. You walk in, and you ride the escalator up stairs but once you're upstairs there is only one floor. I feel like they have a good choice on home products rather than clothes. But there are those rare times where you can find treasures. read more

I love TJ Maxx. It's unorganized and chaotic. The isles are a clusterf@@k and the shelves are muddled with random Marc Jacobs purses, flavored syrups and Sephora eye shadows... and you never know what kinda of gem you are going to walk out with. Be prepared to search for that diamond in the ruff. There are no set sizes or quantities of anything there. If you find something you like, it may be the only one in the store. If you find an article of clothing you like - pray you're holding the size you need because you may not find another option. When you do find what you're looking for... it's most likely going to be significantly lower in price than shopping at the name brand stores. Shopping anyone? read more

It was a small Tjmaxx. Dress option was very limited and unorganized. I had to walk around to find 1-2 racks of dress in random spots. Then children's section wasn't organized by size and sizes were everywhere. read more

Found decent stuff here before but now it seems like everything that comes in is basically the same thing but in different colors? Messy, unorganized, hard to look for things. Kids running around through the clothing racks, almost had a heart attack once. I don't mind coming in here especially for the prices but just be aware and have patience for the messyness! read more

I'm a huge fan of Tj Maxx in general, however this one is my local favorite. It's not very convenient for me since I live in Sterling and it is in Fairfax near Fair Oaks, but it is worth the 25 minute drive. I am attending a wedding this weekend and am a hostess/greeter.My aunt requested I wear black. Not my favorite color for a wedding but I aim to please. I also had a 25 gift card.So I went to this location hoping to find something classy, chic and for a good deal! I found all of the above! For $20!!!!!!! I love that this location has an escalator, just feels cool. I like the cleanliness of the store, the quiet environment, and the selection is among the best brands. I also like that they appear to have new items every time I come, which can't be said for every TJMaxx. I will continue to make the drive because my local TJMAXX in Sterling is not half as satisfactory. read more

I've never found anything I had to have in this T.J. Maxx. But I'm not a quitter! I will keep trying until I succeed dammit! Some lady walked out with $10 brown boots. Why couldn't I love them and think they were comfortable?? Dishes that I don't have room for. Towels that would be lovely in my closet. New work out clothes that I will really put to good use. I want to take you home, I really do. One day I will fall in love with something. Can you work on the toiletry and bath section? It's mighty skimpy. This store is on the second floor, to enter you have to take escalators. Said escalators have been broken for over a month. Why the store is so neglected by the market I don't know. They've always been short staffed causing long lines but I used to put up with it because the merchandise was good. Now waiting for a crowded elevator that smells like the 90s...I'm inclined to go elsewhere. read more

I have been shopping at TJMAXX for a thirty some years, this store and the Fairfax, Main Street store. But, yesterday I encountered a very ugly incident with a person at the counter (looks like a manager?). I found a loose plastic bowl and wanted to buy but the bowl did not have a price tag. The cashier asked me to go a get something similar to that bowl and bring it over. The only thing I found was a set of 4 bowls that look exactly the loose bowl that I wanted to buy but the size was bigger. I brought it over and the cashier showed it to Sedipah (Manager?) and asked for the price to charge on my bow The set of 4 was price $8.00. Sedipah, in a very stern face , said $2.00. She did not even looked at me. I said, "but my bowl is a lot smaller?" Sedipah, still not looking at me, said "2.00" and walked away. I thought, that is ridiculous. I am not going to fight for $2.00! but being a manager and have that kind of attitude is unacceptable. I do not want to bring a race card here, but I can't help. I am Asian. As far as TJ Maxxs' go, this one is just fine. When I used to live closer, I shopped here much more. The selection is pretty darn good, the staff is usually pretty nice (especially the fitting room woman), the lines moves fairly quickly, and the store is usually clean and organized. I can always find something here that I want. If you have never been to a TJ Maxx I truly feel sorry for you, but if you have then you know what it is all about. Discounted EVERYTHING from children's clothes and toys to women's and men's clothes to household items and purses and shoes...So great. Good location and clean store. read more

I like this TJ Maxx - this location has a great selection of home goods and dog toys/accessories, so I'm over here a lot. For being a discounted retailer, I find that overall the store is pretty organized. There is a very sweet lady that works in the fitting room, and I think typically the cashiers are pretty nice/helpful. Not my favorite location in nova. The store is clean, people are nice, BUT there is no selection in clothes!! Went to look for a dress and literally they only had one----ONE rack of dresses and most of them were all one size (not mine) so that was a downer! Hoping that was only because its winter now. When you go to this store, go early. I got there just after opening and things were I place and easy to find. I can see how people can say that the store is messy because I was there for 2 hours and the sections were certainly messier. So again, shop early and you will be good. read more

I want to update this to say that last time I was in here, the top shelves of an end cap were packed super tight. I picked up a pillow and knocked over a glass jar which of course shattered. I walked to the nearest employee to tell them about the mess and the lady as talking on her cell phone. Continued talking on her cell phone while I stood in front of her for a while. Didn't get off the phone but instead pulled it away from her head long enough to say "how I help you" then as I was telling her she continued her phone conversation. When she didn't know how she could get me to go away (because she was talking on the phone while I was explaining) she said "how I help you" again. So I repeated. She said she would send someone to clean it up and went back to her phone conversation. I stood next to the mess for over 10 minutes waiting for someone to clean up the broken glass and no one came by. Eventually I left but as I was leaving, still no one had cleaned up the mess. read more

I've shopped at this T.J. Maxx for a couple of years (several times a year), but I may not go back. My last two visits made me wonder if there is new management. I usually love to search the clearance racks and shelves for a bargain, but this store has JUNK for sale. On the clothing racks, sweaters with giant holes in the front; in the housewares department -- broken glass vases, food storage containers without lids, and the real "bargain" I saw last time -- a frying pan with no handle (obviously broken off) -- $12! Apparently the manager or owner doesn't understand that you need to sometimes THROW JUNK AWAY and write it off as a loss. Or maybe they're waiting for the lawsuit that will come their way when someone gets a nasty cut from some broken glass? Not even the thrift stores put this stuff on the shelves! There was so much of this kind of junk that I feel certain it's not just the usual breakage that occurs at a store like this. The damage was noted, the items were marked down and put back on the shelf. And note to cashiers -- I feel that it's rude for you to chatter with your colleagues in your native language while you wait on me. I don't care if you talk with one another on the floor, but when you're at the register, your customer should be your focus. read more
