Cute shop. I have to stop in every time I'm in Manassas and I usually end up purchasing something. The ambiance is just lovely with instrumental music and the way the owner decorates the shop is so beautiful. They have home decor, perfume, baby gifts, jewelry, furniture and they also have a space in their shop for afternoon tea (reservations required). Just a really lovely shop. Prices are reasonable to high but that's typical for Manassas. read more

The store is so honest. It's like a walking into the part of the mind that represents the happy parts of our lives. Just the name gives off meaning that we are entering into someone's heart and soul. This place is a home goods store with a tea tasting room on occasions. There are so many really cute home goods here. I was especially into the United State tea clothes and cups. There was a different one for each state. Sort of like the Starbucks been there series. I was really into the happy music, and when I thought it, I immediately saw a CD stand that said "the music you are listening to right now". How is that not so thoughtful!? read more

I used to love going into this cute shop, but since I heard about a new, young employee being totally berated by the manager there in front of customers causing her to burst in tears recently, I have to say that was very unprofessional and totally uncalled for. I'm a retiree but when I hear of managers and/or owners who act in this manner to others I have to say "you are part of what is wrong with society today." You are not special or important. Everyone's motto in life should be, "[INSERT VERB] what makes you happy." Just walking into this store makes me happy. Yes, it brings out my girlie side (which is not very large). I discovered the store a few years ago, and much to my delight, realized that they serve a tea! It took me years to get a reservation. I finally got in! The afternoon tea was so much fun! Joanne, the owner, greeted us and showed us to our table. Our waitress could not have been sweeter and she was so unassuming, which is exactly what you want in such an atmosphere. When I complimented her on that fact, she explained that Joanne tells all her servers that the guests are their to socialize among themselves, not to have discussions with their servers (brilliant!) Joanne's attention to detail is amazing. She was so kind and patient, answering all our questions. We had little name plates at our seat. When we first sat down, our fruit dish was already on the table, and it was wonderful. We also had some chicken soup that Joanne made from her mother's recipe. It am not a chicken soup fan, but this was delicious. You could feel it curing anything negative that might be ailing you. You cannot walk away from this experience without a huge smile on your face. The sandwiches and desserts were perfection. I particularly loved the chicken salad sandwich encrusted with smoked almonds (which I thought at first were bacon bits). The cucumber sandwich was something I could eat all day every day. The cherry scone was mind boggling, the chocolate mousse was perfection, and Joanne was the consummate hostess. When I saw the name of this store, I was super excited as I love stores that offer a selection of random house decor, accessories, gifts, etc. However, when I stepped inside, it seemed kind of unorganized with a limited selection. There were some colorful candelabras and table-top pieces, some scarves, and a limited nursery section. Pieces seem to be limited in stock, and the staff were a little MIA during the whole perusing experience. I would have loved to get some recommendations/suggestions, or talk about the products that they offer. Having a little more of a variety would have been great - more fun accessories, handbags, clothing, house/garden decor, etc. They had a cute little patio out in the back, but no merchandise... maybe just for patrons to get some fresh air? read more

I can't believe I'm the first one to rate this store! We visited The Things I Love while generally touring Old Town Manassas. We would have missed it entirely, except that the owner of a nearby jewelry store recommended it to us. This place has atmosphere and then some. Every room is wonderfully theme decorated and stocked with gifts that are a delight to the eyes. It is easy to spend quite a bit of time browsing. Between the music, the smells and sights, this store is a little bit of heaven. Oh, and it also features home decor gift items that will please just about anyone. Almost as good as going to a spa. We went for tea and it was super cute! They serve a traditional tea on Thursday & Friday and one weekend a month. They really go all out. Fruit salad, soup, and a tower of savory and sweet treats. The food was really good! The tea was great and the atmosphere quaint and cute. And they give you a gift from the store. It was only $30/ person on a Thursday-- which is extremely reasonable. If you are in the area or looking for something different when people are in town-- give it a shot! You have to make a reservation and pre-pay which makes it difficult to tip your server. So we weren't sure if tip was included. If it isn't, they should maybe ask for a deposit and pay the balance the day of. Or remind people to bring cash because we didn't have any. And I of course couldn't help but buy a gift for someone in the store as well. They seemed to have something for everyone. It's definitely a hidden gem! read more

I needed some small sandwiches and desserts for a out of town tea party I was attending and I had called the shop about 2 or 3 days before to see what I could get because I thought they were cute. I call and I get someone named Denise who was very sweet and told me I could get my order done for the day I needed and if I were to come in that she would talk to me and let me know the prices of everything, so I agreed. I get off work to go up there today (after 3 like she requested) and I don't get to speak with anyone, the girl at the front told me to either call back or come back later before 6 when they close and talk to a Joanne. I called an hour before closing and told her I was up there and did not get to speak with her (she was on the phone at the time) and that I called yesterday to discuss prices and an order plan for Saturday. Joanne goes on to say that all her kitchen people are gone for today and there's no way to make the food for me and they're not a restaurant so it's difficult to get the food made by tomorrow since tea parties are done twice a week. For 1 it's not my fault that the information was given to me wrong I only did what I was told and that was to come see her today after 3 and we would discuss something and 2 I believe if you have your own business you should try to help out as many customers as possible because they can spread the word around town for you and grow your business and 3 it was almost liked she really had no sympathy on the phone for me about how sorry she was, I basically felt like I was talking to an AI. I do NOT recommend this place if this is how they treat people trying to make THEM money. Will NOT be going back since I was not #1 priority and especially a NEW customer. read more

My daughter and I had a fun afternoon enjoying tea. The shop is filled with unusual decorative items for the home, but we came for their tea. They do teas on Thursdays & Fridays by reservation. The cost is $35 including tip and tax. They offer one tea choice that changes with the season. When we arrived, our table had placards for where we should sit. The table clothes were beautiful. I liked them so much I asked if they were available for purchase, sadly they were not. On each plate was a small keepsake. We started with a fruit cup, followed by soup, and then the usual 3 tiered tray. The experience took close to two hours. The food was exceptional! This place is great for trinkets for your house. There are lots of cute little boutique items that you could want but what impressed me about the store is the woman who worked there went above and beyond to help me find an item that represented Manassas. When she discovered there wasn't much or what we we're looking for, she happily recommended other stores near her that could help us. That is good customer service. I agree that this shop is top-notch on providing unique and elegant accessories for the home, great gifts in a charming store setting. Unfortunately I won't be going in anytime soon. For all the charm, the sales associates and management are off-putting; they do not greet or acknowledge me when i am in the store (there were only 3-4 people in the store at the time). They have sat behind their cashwrap, never looking up to see who entered, never made eye contact with me. I loved this little shop! The store is beautifully decorated and the owner has a wonderful eye for color. I only bought one small item (a candle) but the woman who rung me up was very kind and chatted with me. The way she packaged my item, however - so precious!! She carefully wrapped it in paper, then put it in a small brown bag, closed it with a seal, and added a ribbon. It was adorable and added a little touch of charm. I was one of two people in the store, so I got to chat with the employees and the owner briefly. It was overall a lovely experience. read more

When I walked in the shop, the sales person behind the counter did not acknowledge me, even though I was the only other person in the shop. I walked around, the pieces in the shop are unique and nice. As I rounded the corner toward the sales person behind the counter I noticed she was unpacking some new pieces. She finally acknowledged me and let me know that the objects were Christmas ornaments. I tried to make small conversation with her and said they could also be used for everyday decoration and she spat back with a "No!" I was shocked! I spoke up to clarify (maybe I misunderstood) these ornaments may not be used for anything else? She again said "No!." That's really to bad because I wanted to buy a few and use them for wall decoration, but... I walked out of the shop instead. Very bad experience. read more

The lady was very helpful from my first call to the store to when I actually walked in. I was looking for something very specific and I found it there. Yay!! I'm also interested in their tea time.. I have followed this business through all three of the locations. It started out small and quaint. The owner seems to have a knack for picking merchandise that is classic with a twist. Sometimes I visit the shop just to get ideas on how to decorate my own home. Staff is helpful but reserved. I appreciate not being hounded to make a purchase. You can browse the nooks and crannies of each room without pressure to hurry. It usualy takes me at least three times around the shop to feel like I've taken it all in. Prices are varied, something in every price range. It's a breath of fresh air, reminds me of the shops that your grandparents might have visited instead of a Marshalls or a Macys. The woman said she'd refund my money. She didn't and actually charged my credit care more than the price quoted. read more
