Even six years later, South Moon Under is still one of my go-to outfitting spots. Even though I haven't seen the sun in a good three or four months, this store allows me to live my easiest, breeziest, California girl, Alexa Rose, life thanks to it's well curated collection of designer jeans, loosely woven tops, micro dresses, and more. The staff here is SO nice and there is one particular girl who has always gone out of her way to choose specific outfits and accessories that work well with my body type. As someone who has transitioned from a corporate wardrobe to a work-from-home wardrobe to new mom wardrobe all in a couple of years I really appreciate the fact that there are other women looking out for me because sometimes shopping can be downright depressing! I am very disappointed and shocked how the staff in this location have no manners & i felt highly discouraged to come back. No one greets you here & when I checked out, I did not get a thank you. I don't think they favor people of color here, which is what I felt when I walked in. They gladly helped out a white girl & they were friendly to her. I walk by this place all the time, so I was excited to finally go in and check it out! Well, after just leaving the Sundance store, it seemed like find of a downer. The place is fine in decor, but nothing special or unique. They have a lot of clothes and items but I found it overpriced and mostly not my style. They did have a few cute items I thought were cute. I think they cater more to tall people not petite ones like myself! The pieces were fine, just mostly not for me. From the name, I actually thought it might be resort wear, etc. so, not at all what I was expecting. But it looks like they have a lot of fans, so that's good! Maybe I'll stop by sometime again to see if my second impression is different! read more

This place is great and I always stop by to see what new outfits they have. Unfortunately, they run out of my sizes a lot and on weekends it can be VERY busy. The layout is great and sometimes the workers are helpful but too helpful is not my cup of tea. I know some people love to be catered and given attention, whereas I am more of like "Hi there! Unbelievably bad customer service - I was extremely taken aback by the employees' rude and unfriendly demeanor. Not sure why this store needs ~6 employees on shift at once (including one who appeared to be the manager) who do nothing but talk amongst themselves at the register, and give nasty looks and attitude to customers who ask for help. I felt like I was inconveniencing them by being a paying customer. Will definitely not shop here again. read more

there's always great customer service at this one. great collection of scarves. i got a b&w chevron print and a pink skulls&crossbones print here. they have rich and skinny jeans but it's actually a lot cheaper to buy on the rs company website than at smu. ive never bought any clothes at smu but i love them for accessories and they have cute smalls like tiny gift books and desk decor. read more

Let me start off by saying the items here are beautiful, that being said the staff is HORRIBLE!! I came in to return a product that was honestly too expensive. I entered the store and came up to the front counter but the lady was already rude, as I said hello she rolled her eyes. I thought what ever she probably had a bad day. Then I tried to explain to her why I was returning the product: I couldn't see before but it had some stains on it. She immediately said we don't sell products like this and walked away in exasperation. After I stood at the counter for no less than 15 minutes, she came back with 2 more employees. They were all accusing me of lying!! The product was in the south moon under bag for a month while I was on vacation, do they want me to show them my passport?? read more

The new plaza this store is in is absolutely wonderful! Parking is free in the structures and there is also street parking. The plaza basically looks like Reston Town Center (same contractors) but this plaza has a Target :) I came here for the Grand Opening Party and the store itself was well organized. I love how they display the beauty products right in front where you check out. I think the layout of this location is a lot more spaced out than the Fairfax Corners location. read more

SMU is one of my favorite places to shop. I've frequented the locations in Clarendon, Rehoboth, and Ocean City and have had great experiences at all of them. This location at the Mosaic District is my absolute favorite. I always receive a warm welcome from the ladies that work there, along with great customer service. They're always willing to help me find shoes to go with my outfit, offer suggestions for outfits, and even order something with free shipping to my house if it's out of stock in the store. Insider tip - go straight to the sale rack if you're looking for a good bargain. Their sale items are always marked down to a reasonable amount and usually have an additional percentage off. Can I give 4.5 stars? I only took a half a star off because this location doesn't have men's clothes. My husband loves this store as well but was very disappointed when he realized he can't shop at this one. Thank you, SMU and the fabulous ladies that work there! I'm a big fan of south moon under and grew up shopping there. I was disappointed that there were no mens clothes at this location. I definitely think adding mens clothes would be a huge addition to mosaic. I can't think of any other south moon under without men's clothes... read more

Read these reviews before I posted and I'm highly upset that I didn't have the same experience. Was the only customer in the store and walked around for over 10 minutes and no one spoke to me at all. The associates were too busy up front, filling each other in on some gossip. When I left I informed them that they lost a customer due to their blatant rudeness and one young lady looked as if she could care less. Not a good visit at all. read more

Aside from their clothes being super cute, I was beyond impressed with their customer service! I was in town visiting a friend and purchased a few items. After getting home to Chicago I realized they didn't fit as great as I had initially thought and contacted the store manager regarding the possibility of a return. She was incredibly accommodating, not only did she mail me a return label and packaging, she even included a handwritten card with return instructions. Such a great experience! read more

Lots of funky styles and unique dresses. Prices are a bit high if you ask me, but the sale rack did have a couple of good finds. Layout is spacious and invites you in to explore (also potentially dangerous for me!) What really stood out to me though was the service. The lady that greeted me at the door also helped me get a fitting room and gave me some other suggestions for dresses that I might like. She was exceptionally nice and helpful. I love South Moon Under in general and usually love this store location (it's super close to my office so I go in there a LOT). Recently, they seemed to re-staff, and today I almost snapped at them. I think they followed me around the store and made generic comments to me the whole time i was in there. It was very fake and you could tell. 3 different people complemented me on random things and 2 tried starting a fitting room (1 asked me twice after she forgot that she asked me 3 minutes before). I was on my lunch break and just wanted some relaxing shopping but it was so bad that i literally put everything down after trying on things and left. While i was in the dressing room the same girl asked me 4 times how i was doing. I get you want to have good customer service but you shouldn't be bombarding the customers. and it was very obvious that it was fake interactions and that they're told to be like that. as soon as i was leaving i heard the same girl say the same compliment to someone who had just walked in. disappointing. read more
