Inconsistent service even though I was on a monthly subscription. Have to watch them. Then they also bill for warranty work, continue to receive payments but decided that they were no longer servicing. Due to the recent hot weather, we had to add quite a bit of water to our inground swimming pool, the result of which (I think) the water turned real murky. Called Swimchem and they sent out a pool tech, Frank, within hours. He checked and adjusted all my pool settings, proceeded to work his magic and even brushed my pool. 24 hours later, got a crystal clear pool. A little miscommunication at the phone level, but I saw Art from SwimChem servicing my neighbors pool. I told him I had called and was told they weren't taking service calls now. He stated that it only applies to non contract/service calls. I explained to him that I had an issue with my motor for my water fall feature. Art finished up with my neighbor, Immediately diagnosed the problem, replaced the capacitor and added it to my service bill. He was very knowledgeable and advised me he n layman's terms that the motor itself would probably need to be replaced soon, but that it's a specialty motor designed for the particular pump I have and is no longer available. Our pool pump had gone out and they had a guy come out to our house, who just yelled at my elder mother and refused servicing it. When I reached out to company the said they cancelled our service, they didn't care about the customers service we received because they are short staffed, to look for another company. No accountability and definitely encourage there workers to be rude, when we are paying for a service they do not want to provide. It is sad to see how things were handled when we had been a customer for 20+ years. read more

We have had pools since 1992, and have continued to grow with time. Since 2001 we have had a 20 by 40 soft side pool. So many companies came and screwed things up chemically and always had excuses regarding why the pool became green or black. Finally a few years ago we found Swim Chem! YAY!! Not one time has the pool become green or murky. We are crystal clear and beautiful year around. Our professional comes out on Mondays and we barely hear him. So considerate of our peace and quiet. He cleans and checks and puts in the perfect combination of chemicals for the day and season. Same guy every time so he knows our system. Yes, soft side pools can be tricky to balance the chemicals compared to gunite but if you are a pool company charging for services you should know chemicals. Worst pool service. Never any communication, they just throw chemicals at the pool instead of trying to figure out why our pool was forming algae. Never gave any suggestions just oh let's put in algaecide. Being a new pool owner I didn't really know what was wrong or right I put my trust in this company and now I'm left with a green pool, super high alkalinity, high phosphates, high ph and low salt levels. Plus I'm out $300 dollars in other chemicals to try to fix this mess. Oh did I mention they only come out 2 times a month... after much research you should shock your pool once a week, add acid for alkaline levels and add a stabilizer to keep the pool crystal clear. So why do they come twice a month?? Because they said so they didn't have to raise their prices for service. I'd be more than happy to pay if I got superior service. I have been a customer for over 8 years with this company and was very satisfied and thought they had a decent service for the price. However there office manager is very stupid. I sold my home and cancelled my service and stopped my credit card auto pay. Or so she said. They did keep charging my card and when I called to STOP AGAIN she says I will credit you back. Well it's been over three weeks now and still she still has done nothing. The latest thing she has told me was that the check is in the mail/no credit back on your card. Swim Chem is a company I would never recommend to friends or family. Not only is their service sub par but their customer service/billing is atrocious. We canceled their service and they kept billing us for a few months. I didn't know this until today when I realized I was in collections!! Collections for services never rendered. I recently inquired into getting pool chemical service and the seemed to be the cheapest around. The price was $47. So called them up and they at first didn't want to honor a coupon I had from Angie's list that was $30 off start up water conditioner. They told me the price was more then that to start up but they would look into it. So they called back and honored the coupon. They set up schedule for my service which would be every other week since we are in fall. When they came out they said it wasn't worth it to them since my pool has some cracks apparently. The same day I had my neighbors pool company look at it and for $65 he was able to maintain the chemical balance, clean baskets and clean the sides of pool ONCE A WEEK! I adore Frank! He is a great pool guy! He lets me know what's going on with the pool and he very cautious with our gate. We have dogs and I'm always worried they'll get out. It sounds silly but if you have dogs on a busy street you get it. The price for chemicals I feel like it's reasonable and I don't have to do anything. I love it! read more

My experience with this company couldn't be any more polar opposite from the reviews I have read on this site. We are owners of a brand new pool and a neighbor who swore by their professionalism and reliability referred swim Chem to us. We have been nothing but blown away by their assistance in ensuring that our new pool was up and running in the most efficient way. Rodney, the amazing water chemist is quite impressive with his aquatic chemistry knowledge. In order to fill our pool this year, we had to use some questionably untreated water. I was SO NERVOUS when I saw that our original pool color was brown and murky. Rodney went out of his way to make sure he was at our house everyday for the first five days testing and treating the water in our pool. I have to admit, I was skeptical...but within five days our pool was a beautiful oasis! I was shocked and more than pleased with the transformation! Then there is John! Who has been our pool equipment savior! Not only did John take more time than ever expected to explain how our new pool equipment worked, he assisted us with the programming to make sure our system was working at its best potential while running economically efficient. The changes he made to our daily programing saved us substantial money monthly! I don't have much to comment on their administration staff, other than my initial phone call to book an appointment and get pricing was pleasant. But I can't say enough positive things about the staff Swim Chem has in the field! I was a customer for 12 years and have seen them dump chemicals into my pool without checking the chlorine or ph levels. Also told them not to put as much chlorine into my pool but they don't listen as the owner said I don't know anything about pools. My advice is go somewhere else DO NOT use the company!!! read more

These people are the worst and Kelly is very rude! We cancelled our pool cleaning service when we moved but apparently they "didn't get the message" and kept coming for two more months. We weren't there any longer and were trying to sell the house. We finally saw a note on the side porch door from them with a balance. We called them up and wondered why they kept coming when we had cancelled. They had no answers but said the driver/pool cleaner did not know. They would not back down and we had numerous calls. We told them we would not pay for something we had cancelled. Never heard back from them. Low and behold a few years later we run our credit and they sent us to collections. These people are awful and if you are thinking about using them...think twice. There are other companies that are around the same price. I cannot say it enough! DO NOT USE!!!! read more

I WAS COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF. DO NOT AGREE TO ANY OF THEIR REPAIR PRICES. I spoke with Mike and set up chemical service which was supposed to start the day after his supervisor came out to check my pool equipment. On the "initial service" call which was the next day, Mike called saying his supervisor Rodney was at my house and I needed a new belt kit, the part was about $20 and "labor" was $30. I was on my way to a meeting and didn't have much time for questions or to do any research myself so I agreed. After I get back from my meeting, I had a voicemail from Michael saying that Rodney said I needed a back up valve which was $170 plus tax, and said " you do need it for your sweep". I have a family friend that does pool service but he lives too far away. When I called him asking about this he said that that is a $50 part for my type of sweep and that was a complete rip-off. I immediately called back, explained this to Mike who wasn't surprised that I was cancelling service. A few days later I get a call from Kelly who said I owed more than $300 dollars. When I explained to her the phone conversation and voicemail I had from Mike she said she'd call me back. Apparently she was quoting me the wrong price, HOWEVER, she said I owed $49.95 for the belt kit (which is only a $20 part), $44.95 for the swivel (which is ONLY a $6 part and literally just snaps on, my new pool guy says most companies don't charge you "labor" fees since it takes maybe 5 minutes to put on), and also charged for chemical and conditioner - in total it was $128.45 for this visit. I looked up these parts after the fact. I could have spent $6 and put the swivel on myself. Also, I hired an independent contractor, he inspected my sweep's back up valve and it was working - THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE ME $170 FOR NO REASON. I'm telling you all this so you know I am not a crazy person who is complaining for no reason. I'm also telling you all of this so you don't get ripped off as well. I don't know if they thought I was stupid (I'm not - I'm a nurse) or that just because I am a single woman it is okay to mark up the prices because I wouldn't check to see if I was being cheated. Either way I am appalled at this company's behavior and audacity. read more

Our most recent experience has been poor. Before we switched from Swin Chem we had them for 23 years. In Early 2020, they indicated that our pool service would go from weekly to every other week service for the same cost. We indicated that our pool required service every week and we would be willing to pay more. No, was their reply. Then, they placed a floating chlorinator in our pool stuffed with chlorine tablets which caused a problem with the chemical balance. 2 pool companies indicated that you never stuff the chlorinators with tablets and that weekly service for our pool is necessary to keep the chemicals in balance. Then, they charged us for a filter cleaning which our new pool company said could not have been cleaned properly by them since the filter was clogged and dirty. Swim Chem is still charging us for the filter cleaning and when I called to discuss they said they would call back. That never happened. I don't know if this is correct, but, I have been told they are under new ownership. read more

We have used Swim Chem for many years and have been very satisfied with the service. Recently we had our pool replastered and Swim Chem is doing the start-up work. Rodney came out to check things and showed me how to clean the filter in preparation for the start-up. Actually he pretty much cleaned our filter in the process of showing me what to do. This was not part of his job but he did it anyway. He also gave me some useful advice on what I would have to do. Integrity is the single most important in any business. While Swim Chem did a fine job of doing the start up of my newly plastered pool, I had problems with them with the upkeep of my pool. On two locations, some of my personal chemicals were used to maintain my pool. The whole premise of having them do the chemical service, was that they would use their own chemicals. Last November I found that 2 gallons if my acid bottles had been used. I called them to ask them why they were using my chemicals. They agreed to replace them. This happened again in January, after I had cancelled my service. They insisted that they use their own chemicals yet almost two gallons of my own acid were missing. While I don't thinks that using clients' chemicals is their policy, clearly some of their staff are doing this since it happened to me twice. It is the company's responsibility to ensure that their staff do their jobs with integrity as it reflects on the company as a whole. I will never use them again. read more

Swim Chem was recommended to us for new pool startup. They did a great job. That was Nov 2013. We were gone for a 2 week period in May 2014. Upon return we noticed a DRASTIC color change in our pool (White spots). Numerous phone calls were made, emails were sent & a few visits were made. The president of their company sent us this in August: "As per our discussion this morning, I will return to your pool next Monday 8-11-14 and begin an in-pool acid wash to attempt to remove the whitish discoloration on your pool surface. I will not charge for this process." Great news but then we received this: "The process to remove the white from the pool surface has been completed. We have returned the water chemistry to the proper range and reset the controller as it was previously set. As I told you, I cannot keep the water chemistry in a state (long term) to prevent this from recurring without causing etching to the plaster. I will come back and check the water again on Monday. I will give (worker's name) special instructions for when he services the pool on Thursday 8-21 and 8-28. The visit on 8-28 will be our last visit, as I previously told you we could not service the pool to meet your expectations for the appearance of the plaster without affecting it in a negative way. We are new pool owners who were relying on Swim Chem to maintain the chemical balance. We never got a direct answer as to why we had a complete change of pool color and white spots in the 2 weeks that we were gone, just an email stating they were done. Go figure! We would never recommend Swim Chem to anyone. read more
