Sweet Leaf is hands down my favorite place to eat in Mclean. At first, the menu and ingredient choices can be kind of intimidating, but once you start to learn the menu you can really create amazing salad/sandwich options. I used to choose much less healthy options in Mclean, but now that a reasonably priced, organic, cafe has moved in, I have been eating well and actually enjoying it. From the sandwiches to the great frozen yogurt, this place has become a staple in my daily lunch outings. I've recommended Sweet Leaf to many of my friends and I've only gotten good feedback from them. This is one of those trendy build-your-own salad/sandwich places that caters to the slightly crunchy yuppie. The atmosphere is light with green accents, and a reduce, reuse, and recycle sign hangs over the kitchen door. Basically, this means you're going to pay $10+ for a sandwich/salad with chips and a drink, and you won't be all that full. But the food is decent. I like that they have suggested combinations for those of us that struggle with indecision. I decided to kick things off with the chicken salad sandwich. The chicken is pulled (no cubes), and there isn't an excess of mayo. I think I remember some celery, but it's relatively standard. Yum! It is so nice to have a great new lunch option in McLean. The staff is super-friendly and the owner is nearly always front and center. The salads are super fresh and there are lots of options. I love the chinese chicken salad. The sandwiches are delish - although I wish that the chicken salad was all white meat and the egg salad has too much dill, a bit weird. This is a great all around option that we really needed in the area. The ice cream is yummy and all of the toppings are right in front of you so there is no question how good they will be. If you're in the mood for a milk shake, this is the place to go! The manager took extra time on a Sunday evening shortly after closing to let in a few last stragglers, my girlfriend and myself. We had the urge for a milkshake, and he was happy to oblige. Great service, great food, and parking was just fine. I ordered the "Le Club" sandwich, and I thought it was pretty good. The service was speedy and the prices were reasonable too. That being said, I would definitely choose Panera over Sweetleaf if given the option. However, other members of my group said their salads were very good, and salads do seem to be their most popular items. So, next time, I will have to try one of their salads. read more

I just started working in one of the offices near the Tysons Galleria Mall and there are so few good places to grab a quick bite for lunch. Happened to be at Langley Shopping Center and went here coz it popped up on Yelp. I am so glad I did. Lip Smacking good!! I had the Asian Chicken salad for 8 bucks! Generous portion. They didnt skimp on the chicken, oranges, nuts or anything. And the dressing was just perfect, not too tangy or sour. I only wish this was walking distance from the office!!. I hope to try more stuff in the near future. I saw them preparing sandwiches for the customers ahead and those looked delicious as well. All the ingredients looked fresh and fabulous. The cashier threw in a small portion of pasta salad along with a slice of bread. Other customers were right about the parking situation, their lot is really small, but you can park at the church or across the street at Langley shopping center. read more

If I'm not crafting my own salad, I get the berry leaf salad. Today I decided to make my own salad. Most any request is accommodated easily. The line moves a little slow, but I wasn't in a rush today. Your best bet is to come during non lunch rush hours if you can, or park in Langley Shopping Center and walk a block(ish). $10.50 for a salad of mixed greens, beets, egg whites, carrots and chickpeas, plus a 12 oz soy milk is appropriate enough for me. And the salad greens and ingredients are always fresh. I do wish they offered cooked tofu as an option, and cooked mushrooms. It would also be helpful if they had nutritional info somewhere, and a better mobile website. If you come for dinner, you've got to be an early dinner person. No 7:30 or 8:00 dinners here. read more

This community cafe is a spot where many McLean locals can be spotted hanging out. Whether for a sandwich and chips in the winter or just a killer frozen yogurt in the summer, Sweet Leaf is delicious. They serve made to order quality food to you at an albeit, rather hefty price. Of course, the price is justifiable because of the incredible quality ingredients that go into any sweet leaf item. My personal favorite is a Caprese sandwich or a sunrise burrito, both accompanied by a fruit cup, of course. Though the fruit cup is listed in the children's section of the menu, rest assured, it is plenty big for a side. The fruit also changes seasonally so you know you are getting the best you can. All in all, sweet leaf is an incredible restaurant and, if you can afford it, a great spot for lunch. read more

I asked a few questions but received only nods and smiles and apparently no one behind the counter that day understood English. After a few more question, I just gave up. A tiny salad plate was held up to me and I thought the price for a Dixie cup of greens was outrageous. Sweet Leaf is an amazing choice for just about anyone looking for a quick bite in Mclean. While they are popular for their salads and sanwiches, I always find myself ordering off the kids menu. Their ice cream is also AMAZING!! If your finding yourself to be a a bit more healthy, hit up the lowfat or fatfree frozen yogurt. Be sure to top it with toooooons of fruit or chocolate chips! This place is a million times better than any Subway -- not really even in the same category. The sandwiches and salads are delicious and prepared fresh. I have used their catering services several times for school events with great results. I love the atmosphere and now that my husband showed me how convenient it is to park behind the store in the church parking lot, parking is not an issue. Reading some of the reviews below i agree with some of the 2 stars but some of the one star stuff are bitter-go-back-to-yer-conntry-club types or competitors. Ya really have to know what to get. first their salads are yummy and a great value. The sandwiches are not all equal though i found that roast beef UK thing to be pretty good. The breakfast's are good but the yogurt breakfast parfet is a joke..way too small for the price. Other than that its pretty good ya just gotta know whats good and be willing to try some new things. One reviewer went off on how great their cupcake are..mmmm they don't let you out much do they sweety. those things are day old fluffy thoughts at best... soooo know your limits at sweat leaf. read more

I like the yogurt--tart and on the creamy side--but it only come in one size--a large one, which is a bit much in this winter weather. Regardless, I think I'll be stopping in every now and then after Safeway/Blockbuster runs. So, a good friend has been raving about this place to me for some time but since I don't often go by that side of Mclean very often I never got to try it. For whatever reason one day recently I decided to check it out. It was just my little 3 yr old and myself. Immediately upon entering the place -- Love the decor!! Totally up my alley! Love the giant coffee mugs turned plant pot with cactus on each table. It's a self service kinda place. You make your order at the counter, pay, and take your orders to your table. The main offerings are salads, sandwiches, ice cream / yogurt smoothies, coffees, and some other little goodies (cookies, cupcakes, muffins etc.). WARNING: their salad portion is Giagantic!! They're served in a medium size stainless steel mixing/prep bowl you'd normally find in your kitchen. (Are they feeding humans or horses?) Sandwiches are also really good. And the creme de la creme: the yogurt smoothie!! So good! Cappuccino also good. My only complaint is that on my second visit I ordered a tuna salad sandwich and picked the French baguette .... only this was terrible French baguette! So disappointed! I was so excited to see a place offering baguettes as a bread option for sandwiches coz I LOVE baguette sandwiches. Alas, this was not to be ..... It's an ok place. The parking is tight. I had the commuter breakfast sandwich and the person behind the counter seemed upset that I wanted to add veggies. It was a normal sandwich nothing great. Folks, this place is great - it is so hard to find a really good place that serves good HEALTHY food. You will typically end up at a location that has a lot of unhealthy food on the menu - this place is different: like a very healthy and very high end Subway - pick what you want. Stopped here as I was headed home around 8pm. When I walked in there was no line so my service was somewhat fast. I got the grilled chicken Caesar. It's my go to. Big fan of Sweetleaf! First of all, their sandwiches are delicious and I LOVE their organic sandwich and salad toppings! The concept the cafe is also really cool. From what I understand, its is owned by a brother/sister who are both in their early twenties. I believe their parents gave them the start-up capital after they came up with a business plan to open a restaurant that works similarly to Subway- you build your own sandwiches and salads but what differentiates them is the fact that everything is freshly and organically grown. I also believe that they work with local environmental and recycling projects. I love their "green" concept. All of the materials they use are recyclable and they even have a vegetable garden along the side of the restaurant where they grow their own produce to use on the sandwiches. Everything else is purchased from local farmers markets and is of the very best quality! All the employees are generally high school kids from McLean and Langley, but they are all sweet and good natured, and the place its self is SO cute. It's the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a light meal with friends or coworkers on your lunch break, or if you feel like huddling up with a book in the corner while you enjoy a gourmet cupcake and a good latte. In the summer their patio area is a great place for a ladies' lunch! Sweetleaf also provides catering for private and corporate events and they have catered for a number of events where I work. Nonetheless, Sweetleaf has never disappointed me. In fact, every time I visit I feel like I get a great experience. Definitely go check it out- this place is so worth it! read more
