Awesome, Awesome, Fresh, Fresh, Clean, Clean, Healthy--well sort of. Come here about once a week and it's a super, super alternative if you want to eat a fresh, healthy, semi-organic meal. I always get either the Nikos or Nicoise salads. I like this place even more than Sweetgreen as it's usually much cleaner and the salads are fresher and tastier. Not sure if they use organic ingredients though--at least some are though I'm not sure if all are. Stopped by for lunch one day (the parking really is as bad as described) and had one of the best salads of my life. I spent several minutes debating over the menu- everything looked amazing- and finally settled on the San Remo. I loved how generous the portions were. More chicken than I felt like I could handle, an entire half avocado, quality parm and sun dried tomatoes. I seriously thought about that salad for weeks afterwards. Any place that upsets my stomach this badly gets one star. I was there on a Sunday morning for a couple of hours. I got the Morning Glory bowl, and since I didn't eat anything else I know that's what made me run for the bathroom. The people who work there also don't seem like they want to. No one smiled or had anything other than a flat tone, and I felt like an imposition. The cafe's music also appears to be nothing more than someone's phone hooked into the loudspeaker, because I watched a very upset mother ask someone to turn it down after an explicit Lil Wayne song blasted out more variations of the f and n words than I've ever heard. I just started coming to Sweet Leaf about a month or so ago. Their menu is quite impressive - from salads to sandwiches, brownies, and froyo - if I'm remembering correctly. I usually get the California Cobb and add grilled chicken and I tend to always get a brownie too - the cheesecake brownie I highly recommend. I've tried their popular sandwiches and they're all good. Even my boyfriend who is a picky eater likes their food. I've always experienced good customer service, the owner/manager is very personable and so are his staff. I definitely prefer this place to other salad/restaurants in the area. The parking lot is small but I usually find parking because someone is always leaving. The decoration inside had a rustic farmhouse feel to it which I love. They offer free water on the back side near the register and there is space inside and outside to sit and eat. I was so sad to see the Moorenko's ice cream shop close down, and for months and months I was wondering what this new place was going to be that opened in its place. The only sign out front said "Sweetleaf coming soon" with no explanation as to what the heck it was. Turns out that it's a cozy little sandwich shop, which is nice as McLean is rather lacking in decent food establishments in this general area. (Food that doesn't involve waiters/waitresses, and long waits for food anyway) The place has been renovated quite nicely, and seems to be a world away from what it used to look like. The sandwiches are pretty dang good too. :) They might not have the ice cream selection that was once here, but it's still worth an occasional trip. read more

Ok but on the pricey side for salads. A Cobb salad to go with no meat other than bacon pieces and hard boiled egg set me back 7.80...and 50 cents extra to a spoon full of sunflower seeds. Taste was fine..but I thought it was strange the put balsamic vinegar on top without asking. I am used to blue cheese dressing on Cobb salad. Parking is tight in front of the place. read more

TLDR: Subpar Service, Fresh Veggies and Salad, variety of foods to choose from, not coming back due to poor customer service on multiple occasions. Sweetleaf often confused with Sweet Green in our office is located in Tysons 1. They are located between Panera and McDonalds on the first floor of the mall. They offer customizable sandwiches, salads, smoothies, frozen yogurt and more. My co worker loves this place and is always talking about it, so I finally went with him to try it out. The first time I went to sweetleaf, it was awesome, great experience, got exactly what I wanted, the server was very kind and understanding of my requests, and my salad and smoothie tasted delicious! Based on my first experience I kept going back hoping to get the same person or the same service, but unfortunately, I wasn't that lucky. The last time I visited Sweet Leaf was my last time stepping into that establishment, at least the one in Tysons. I've had Sweetleaf at least 5 times and each time I've ordered, the person who was helping me were unhelpful, no cooperative, and not understanding, with the exception of the first time I went there. Due to my allergies, I can't eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. So every time I order something, I ask if i can substitute a topping for something else. Usually every restaurant is nice enough to compile with my request either for free or for an additional charge which I don't mind. At Sweetleaf at least two times, they asked me why I needed to substitute the topping, told me it will be extra, and gave me the worst attitude imaginable. In the end, I got the toppings I wanted that wouldn't give me an allergic reaction or send me into an anaphylactic shock, but I don't like having to argue with the person preparing the food just so I don't die eating my lunch. What was worse was that all her coworkers stood around her, seeing her giving me so much attitude while making my salad and said nothing about it. Like it was acceptable to treat a customer this way. Due to the food and ingredients are fresh and taste really good in a salad or a sandwich, I am giving it a 3, but I personally am not coming back due to my experiences. read more

My buddy invited me out to lunch here the other day. It was my first time here and wasn't sure what to expect. Pros: Fresh ingredients, variety of ingredients and offerings (sandwiches, salads, wraps, desserts, etc). Cons: I stuck with the Italian - it was good. But not any better than Potbelly's. The salads look a lot better than my Italian so I hope to try that out next time. And good luck with parking in the parking lot..there are a total of 10 spaces. Food is still A-OK. I still dont think the money is all worth for bowl of salad and some dressing. But I do have to say, Sweetleaf needs to teach their staff some etiquette when learning how to answer the phone and talking to people in person. I had placed in a group phone order for lunch and repeating myself "no cilantro. no sprouts. no green pepper. Yes, the FIN. the FIN, no tuna.." Of course I get there to pick up my food, I found the things that I dont want and the cashier, Freddie was being rude telling me its my fault after I had numerously told him "NO" over the phone. I've never been to a Sweetleaf before so my first experience has been tarnished. It started with the strong smell of bleach when entering, I like the clean smell of bleach, but not at a bakery. I asked about the egg on all the breakfast items, how it was prepared, she said fried as I had expected. I asked if they could scramble it since fried eggs are not appealing to me and she said no. I really didn't need a 3rd strike so that was the end of my experience. And I can continue to be disappointed in breakfast choices in NOVA. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in NoVA because the food tastes great. I usually get the Kabobi bowl for around $11. It comes with a protein (falafel?) and grain and nice toppings that really make the bowl taste great. I would highly recommend this to everyone. I placed a catering order for pick up and they were AMAZING. Even though it was a little bit pricey - the portions were extremely generous! I dealt with a very nice/understanding woman named Arita. Her customer service is outstanding, she is responsive and very informative. I ordered the small Sante Fe and large Berry Leaf. The Santa Fe salad was gone in seconds! Highly recommended. They threw in a free whole wheat LOAF of bread (not sure if they do that for everyone, but my office loved it) and an generous portion of complementary plates, napkins, knives, forks. It was extraordinarily easy and I would certainly cater from here again. Only downside - parking, be prepared during lunch time cause it gets really busy! read more

I really like the sandwiches here, and it's cool that they have a gluten-free option of wrapping your sandwich in a large lettuce leaf! Salads are pretty good as well. The place is a little pricey but is usually packed! Park at the Baptist Church behind them NOT at Rocco's because Rocco's (which rarely has customers) is nasty about you parking in their lot and will have you towed. read more

Great selection of salad options that allow you to mix it up. Sometimes it would be nice if there were some monthly specials or unique combinations, however, you cannot go wrong with some of the standard fare salad offerings. The price point is very reasonable for the quantity and quality of the salad you're receiving. Our kids also love the frozen yogurt option as a healthier alternative to the Sweetfrog's and other ice cream shops in the area. The staff here is always friendly and helpful and happy. The restaurant is kept impeccably clean as well. Kudos to a great restaurant, we come regularly! read more

I've been going to Sweet Leaf since 2009/2010 and used to love it and recommend it to everyone. And over the past 2 years it's all gone downhill. They changed everything I used to love and things are just weird now. Things don't make sense and the combination of flavor/texture is off now. For example the Malibu melt used to be amazing, the farmers bread was so good, and now they use a burger bun... not sure whose idea that was. The service used to be so good in both Mclean and Vienna but now it's all just a mess. Very disappointing after 10 years of business. read more

I have been going to Sweetleaf in Vienna for 5 years now, love their salads. Over the years I had put on a lot of weight, let myself go and in July of 2019 I finally decided to shed the weight. I have lost the weight through sheer determination, hard work and commitment and developed my own workout program and diet plan. A key component of my diet is virtually every single night I have a Sweetleaf salad. I have it because it is loaded with protein, tastes great and fills me up. Over the past 250 days I have literally had a Sweetleaf salad for dinner about 225 days. I go there so much that when my wife orders the salads they recognize her voice and simply say 'the usual?'. I have tried other salads but nothing compares. In the past 8 plus months I have shed over 160 lbs !!!! Honestly I could not have done it without the Sweetleaf salads. The only negative comment I have is that for as money as I have spent there you would think they would give me a free salad every now and again. read more

You know, I don't think I will ever give this place another try. My family was raving about this place saying that it was the posh spot for healthy eats so I obliged and finally went along one day to see what this place was about. My issue with this place is not the price or costs of the menu items - I don't mind paying for quality. You are what you eat and I take pride in putting quality into my body. What had me freaked out was the treatment of the two gentlemen that made our sandwiches and my salad. We ordered two Fresh Stack sandwiches, one Sante Fe salad, one cup of frozen yogurt, and 6 cupcakes. I swear, the moment we walked in, the two gentlemen (Mediterranean looking) working the salad/sandwich section looked at us like we were aliens from who knows where. If I had been the only one to notice, I would understand. But my other two family members who recommended this place to begin with also agreed that the two guys were really acting weird. Supposedly, the other few times they've been here they have dealt with the female owner/manager and she's supposedly nice but my first impression of this place was just insulting. The food was alright. It was literally más o menos. Nothing more, nothing less. We spent $50+ there for three people - no prob, quality is more important than costs. But to be looked at in a weird and almost pervasive manner is insulting, offensive, and totally not posh. The cupcakes were alright. Everything else was bleh. blah. bleush! This place is a disappointment and knock-off of Sweetgreen. First, they make you think you're getting a deal with the salads all marked about $2 less than Sweetgreen, but none of them include protein like Sweetgreen's do, so once you add on chicken or shrimp, etc. the price is the same or more. The make your own salad option is also more expensive than Sweetgreen by the time you add a protein and cheese. Their combinations try to mimic Sweetgreen's salads, but the ingredients miss the mark and the salad dressing options are just ho-hum... nothing you can't buy in the grocery store. I was hard pressed to even find the feta cheese I paid an additional $1 for in my salad. They must have used a teaspoon sized scoop to add the minuscule crumbles. Their froyo is also higher priced for what you get compared to Pinkberry or the likes. I'll just go out of my way to go to Sweetgreen's if I'm paying $11 for a salad regardless. read more

This is the best place in Mclean for an affordable healthy lunch. The prices here are hard to beat in Mclean compared to say Le Grand Cafe or Marvelous Market. The quality of what you get is probably better than either of those places. The vegetables are fresh and delicious. The soup is made from scratch. I haven't had the sandwiches, but you can't go wrong on the food section of the menu. The seating is a bit unique. The interior is classy but might get uncomfortable depending on how popular this place becomes with families. There is outdoor seating so it might work out fine in the summer months. My only complaints are that the staff is inexperienced which is expected given Sweetleaf just opened in June 2009. So they might not get your order right everytime. They are friendly and accommodating so I expect the rating of this place to only go up in the near future. I'm also unsure of the coffee selection and brewing compared to more established Mclean locations such as Greenberry's or Le Grand Cafe. I'll be having more of their coffee in the future to see how things change. read more

Sweetleaf is a breath of sweet air in McLean! I can only vouch for the italian sandwich, asian chicken salad, and the santa fe salad, but all were delicious, healthy and fresh fresh fresh! The atmosphere inside is light, airy and a comfortable place to hang out with a coffee and a friend- there are a few plush couches in addition to the tables and chairs. My one criticism is that the chicken used in the salads is white, rubbery, and homogenized- the sort of stuff with the fake grill marks that comes from a bag. It is amazing that a place like this is JUST opening up in McLean- a casual cafe with a fresh atmosphere, decent prices, a focused menu and a fine coffee/espresso bar menu, and desserts ranging from frozen to baked. It's the icing on the red velvet cake that Sweetleaf is locally owned. read more

I recently discovered this adorable cafe, and I love it! It's in downtown Mclean and it stands out- with its cute, home-like appearance. They have wonderful salads, sandwiches and desserts. They have the most delicious "frozen yogurt" I've ever tasted! It takes almost like sorbet because of it's tart flavor and texture. For $4 you can have either the frozen yogurt (which is plain/fat free and delicious!) ice cream or a smoothie. You can pick up to 3 fresh fruits to go on top or to mix into the smoothie. The sandwiches and salads cost about $7 and the muffins and cupcakes are a few dollars. It's clean, fresh, cheap and unique. I'm so glad I found this place! read more

It was our first and shall be our last visit to Sweetleaf in McLean. Counter service people are rude and untrained. A high level of disorganized confusion reigns among the staff. One person seemed obsessively focused on cleaning the tables but the floor was littered and filthy. The smell of cleaning solvent was in the air. The place is billed as an ice cream shop but it serves just 8 flavors of Haagen Dazs ice cream - certainly nothing special - and one very bitter flavor of YoCream, a commercially made frozen yogurt. We ordered the frozen yogurt and found the taste to be sour, and it left a bad after-taste. Rock music is turned up so loud that it intrudes on any ability to have a conversation. Sweetleaf also sells cookies, salads and sandwiches. It is too pricey for the poor quality. read more

We just got back from eating at Sweetleaf and can not rave enough about what wonderful food it was and what a great experience too!!! Rarely do you find such fresh food now a days that is quick and a good price. The staff was so delightful that I had to thank them before I left and I even received a hug from the manager! I had heard good things but I'm disappointed. I've only had their salads. The food is fine but I wasn't particularly impressed with the freshness or variety of ingredients. Their balsamic vinaigrette is nothing special. I would go back except that the lunch rush is handled in a completely inefficient way. I waited for 20 minutes before I could order and there were only about five people in front of me. And this while I watched several employees meandering about behind the counter not doing anything.
