The portion sizes were humungous, and everything was delicious! The store was very clean, and the staff was very friendly. Upon entry, they greeted me with a smile and were eager to assist. The location is perfect. There is ample parking around the shopping center and also a great location to walk around and eat your ice cream while exploring the area. There was only 1 employee taking orders and scooping while the other employee kept their head down and was deep cleaning the waffle maker. The line also kept getting longer and that employee kept cleaning instead of helping the other employee. My friend and I were craving something sweet and were pleasantly surprised to find a Jeni's nearby. I got the Brambleberry and Gooey Butter Cake in a waffle cone while my friend went with the Green Mint and Buttercream Birthday Cake in a cup. This was my first time coming to Jeni's and I'm in love! There were so many unique flavors and they even make their waffles cones and bowls fresh in store! I'm always indecisive when it comes to which ice cream flavor to choose, but they provide free samples, which helped narrow it down. My second visit to a Jeni's ice cream shop!! Their signature signage caught my attention while I was at happy hour. I rarely come to this area, so I had to stop even though I already tried it before. The staff was super inviting and friendly as soon as we walked in. They let us try a couple samples. I was a little overwhelmed due to zero capacity and didn't bother to read the flavors/descriptions. I asked the employee for samples of the 2 seasonal flavors (Bay Leaf Cheesecake and Sweet Potato Marshmallow Praline). While they both tasted like pure sugar, I chose the Bay Leaf Cheesecake. I ordered the smallest size, which was the kid's scoop in a waffle cone...although it was still pricey, Their ice cream is definitely pricey, given the area (and probably insane rent!). Here's the scoop of my favorite flavors: - Brambleberry Crisp - Tastes like blueberry pie! - Vegan, dairy-free Texas Sheet Cake - Light, fudgey dark chocolate ice cream with brownie bites. I didn't realize it was vegan or dairy-free, you can't taste the difference. - Tahini Oats Chocolate Cookie - Super interesting texture of oatmeal and chocolate and pairs well with the Texas Sheet Cake. Highly recommend getting a split scoop, as a single scoop is a generous portion. I just wasn't a fan of the complementary salty waffle cone piece. The service is awesome and very kindly and patiently let me try a wide variety of flavors, at least 4 or 5 samples. They were so nice that I came back the following week to get another scoop and a staff member even opened the door for my stroller. Perhaps I don't really understand the hype or what attracts people to Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams. I went here on a late summer evening and there was a line right out the door. It was so bad that I think I only saw like two employees working, one taking ice cream orders and one cashing out. Really shocking that there's not enough workers to keep up with the demand. While it's true that they have unique flavors, the price point is a bit hard to defend unless you really are a die hard fan of Jeni's. I didn't want to stand there and awkwardly figure out on the spot of what I wanted so I just picked one of the features on the board. The Lemon Buttercream Cake was calling to me. Pretty much it's just Buttercream Birthday Cake and Lemon & Blueberries Parfait in a Buttercrisp Waffle Cone. I was so happy once I got it after a long hour wait. The ice cream was smooth and it had hints of both the lemon and blueberries. The birthday cake did well taste exactly like it and the waffle cone is just felt right instead of the ice cream being in a bowl. Came here after dinner in the Boro and this place really hit the spot. The employees were super friendly and let us sample a bunch of different flavors. We got the kids scoop, which is just one ice cream scoop. I thought this was the perfect amount to round out our evening. I got the double dough, which is a chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream flavor, which I really enjoyed. It was creamy and delicious. They are pretty sweet so I couldn't finish the whole thing but the waffle chip that comes with it in a cup is always delicious and fresh. Whenever you walk in, its always smells so good. read more

I first tried Jeni in DC and loved it. So when I found out that there was a location in Northern VA I was pretty excited. First this Mclean location doesn't have free parking. It is located at The Boro. There is a parking garage very close (see pic). If you don't plan to stay for longer than 1 hour (weekdays) or 2 hours (weekends) then you can get you parking ticket validated. In terms of flavors and options there are a ton of very unique flavors, which is what Jeni's is known for. I've tried their wildberry lavender at their DC location and loved it. But for some reason this time when I tried it, it tasted very artificial. I did sample the darkest chocolate and that was very rich and creamy. Would recommend the darkest chocolate flavor. When I came I was redeeming my free birthday scope. I specifically asked the employee if it came with the cone. They said yes but I still ended up getting charged for it anyways. If the waffle cone was actually good and not kinda stale tasting then I wouldn't have mind paying for it. Definitely wouldn't recommend getting a cone. Oh well you live and you learn. The folks working behind the counter all seem very young and might as well be high school students. So don't expect stellar service. The price is a bit on the high side for ice cream. But you do get a pretty large quantity. I agree with the reviewers on a smaller, cheaper portion option. In terms of seating, there isn't much inside. Employees are the sweetest. It was such a pleasure meeting Adrian and Ceara! They made our visit that much more memorable. We've always been a big fan of Jeni's. They put literally about 1/4 of the size of a regular scoop then usual and the same for my friend's standard two half scoop order! Literally I could have eaten the $7 plus ice cream cone in two bites! I handed it back to her and had to ask her to put a real scoop of ice cream on it and she put a little more and said that is the new size now. I get it that food prices are high and businesses are trying to ensure they can keep profit margins but this was ridiculous! I've been coming to Jeni's for four years and this is what they're doing now and still charging premium prices?? So for my total of $16 for ice cream we were given about a 1/4 cup of ice cream between two orders! Then to add insult to injury they told me I had to signup again for the Jeni's app like a new customer and they recognized this as an app problem but I would get $6 on the app to make up for it. When I did that there was no $6 and all of the points I had previously earned were gone. I'm so done with this place and will never come here again! What a waste of money. It's a shame as it used to be a great shop where I didn't mind paying premium prices for premium ice cream. read more

This location is next to the movie theater and across the street from Whole Foods. We tried the Lemon Bar, Cream Biscuits with Peach Jam and Butter Cake scoops. The key to this ice cream is that, the balance between sweet, sour and savory is practically perfect. I really can't pick a favorite but if I had to it would be Cream Biscuits with Peach Jam. Inspired by Nashville's Loveless Café's famous biscuits this combo is spot on with flavor. Now let's dig into my favorite flavor. I see a little bit of the peach jam swirl. The base ice cream is a near white color with some hints of the biscuit mix-ins. Digging in, the buttermilk flavor of the base is fairly mild -- this is not at all 'sour'. I got a bit of peach jam in the first spoonful and this is the predominant flavor and it tastes really good. As I continue eating, I start to appreciate the biscuit mix-ins. They are not too large and chewy, so I don't single them out in any individual spoonful, but collectively they give the base ice cream a different texture and flavor. I really can imagine myself eating a biscuit-flavored ice cream. Together it was like peach jam spread on a soft biscuit -- but in ice cream form. Deliciousness - 6/5 (yeah, they broke the scale). Happiness - 5/5 This place is gorgeously illuminated at night and makes for a fun vibe. Once inside, the crew is both friendly and efficient. The half scoops are basically regular sized scoops, so you can experiment with multiple half scoop flavors or get one giant sized scoop of your favorite. I got the three half scoop deal and I'm glad I did. Each of the flavors were delicious and different. The peanut butter ice cream tasted like actual salted peanuts. The dark chocolate lived up to the name, it was rich and silky smooth. Surprisingly, my favorite was the Brambleberry, which expertly balanced the fruit, vanilla, and pie crust type flavor. Best yet, sprinkles are free (and they always make me happy on ice cream, even as a grown man!). I also bought two pints (which are, unlike the ice cream scoops, way too expensive). The rocket bomb - a limited flavor, wasn't a big hit. Not for low quality, just because we subjectively don't like the flavors. On a hot summer night, there's nothing more satisfying than ice cream. This branch of Jeni's opened in Tysons Boro in April 2021 next to the ICON theater (about a block from the Whole Foods Market). It provides a nice twist on traditional ice cream by adding a hint of savory to the sweet flavor. Parking can be challenging on a Friday or Saturday night, but there is a public garage with an entrance near Jeni's but further away from Whole Foods. After 5pm, you can get 2 hours free with validation from the Boro Shops (just bring your ticket with you - any Boro Shop retailer will validate it for you). As you enter the store, it conveys an elegant and bright openness. To your left, I appreciated the picture chart of various flavors to guide you. I then ordered an ice cream trio (3 scoops in a dish with a wafer). The flavors were: 1) darkest chocolate; 2) wild lavender;, and 3) sweet biscuit with peach jam. On the plus side, the darkest chocolate was outstanding. It has the flavor of chocolate you anticipate, but adds a savory twist. This was hands-down the most popular flavor in my family (my wife and 13 year old devoured it). I next liked the sweet biscuit and peach jam. It has little bits of biscuit and reminded me of a peach pie. I was a fan, but my wife did not care for it. One the minus side, the wild lavender flavor could use some improvement. It was initially appealing with a strong scent of lavender. But the ice cream had an unpleasant finish that reminded me of crayons or waxy lipstick. I hope they go back to the factory and experiment a little more so that the sweetness emerges (and the Mary Kay cosmetic favor disappears). My friend and I went to the Boro to try out ramen and the new ICON theater (both amazing). We walked around the corner and "bam!" we found a new awesome ice cream place! Food (5/5): I am NOT a fan of sweet things (I know, there Is something wrong with me!) Every once in a while, I will try "good gourmet ice cream" - that's worth the calories! Jeni's did not disappoint. I guess it has a cult following around the US, though I haven't heard of it until a couple months ago. We got the bowl with 2 "half scoops" - though the half scoop is the same as a normal scoop anywhere else! I love the homemade waffle cone crisps that come on the side, next time, I will definitely ask for extra (and pay for them!) Gooey butter cake: Creamy caramel ribbon and delicious cake? Great ice cream place with a nice outside seating area! Heard about this place in Nashville and thought about visiting for awhile. It's not easily seen from the road and hidden away from the Whole Foods and small shopping area in the boro. You will have to pay to Park or walk from the street in order to find it. There's a small running area for children to play while eating ice cream which is nice during the warm weather. Many flavors to choose from. I got the chocolate one and there were no people in line so the service was very friendly and fast. The ice cream was made just right, making me want to go back for more! Jeni's is worth the wait! My husband and I stopped for an afternoon treat before seeing a movie at ICON theater and the line was out the door. The store is so cute, it makes me feel like I'm at a child's birthday party. Sampling is still not allowed (safety first) so I recommend the ordering the trio or sharing a flight with your friends if it's your first visit. I ordered the trio and stuck to my favorite flavors, 2 scoops ooey gooey butter cake, and one scoop brambleberry crisp. The trio comes with a freshly made waffle cookie which is a nice touch! read more
