I go here about once a week since I work close by. I like the breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches over the salads. The Illy coffee is always brewed properly and served piping hot. It's maybe a bit overpriced for what you get, but it's McLean so expected. read more

I absolutely LOVE Sweet Leaf and their friendly staff. I go almost everyday for lunch. I'm known for ordering the San Remo salad all the time. I can't help it- warm grilled chicken with avocado, sun dried tomatoes and pesto! It's delicious. I try to be healthy but my willpower cannot resist their brownies. I recommend Sweet Leaf to anyone looking for a healthy, fresh and filling salad. You won't be disappointed. read more

This place is amazing. I been coming for a year now and the food here is always top of the line. I love the San remo salad. Always get the San remo but today I had to try something different, a little nervous to try something new. At first I couldn't decide until I asked the tall latino guy, who by the way is very handsome and sweet. He helped me choose the Asian chicken salad which was very good. He was very helpful, polite and so was the rest of the staffing. Notice they hired a lot of new people, well worth it not too many restaurants have courteous employees. I stumbled on this place the other day, I was so excited that a sweetgreen had opened around the corner, but when I walked in I realized it was knock off. Not the same experience or customer service at all. Are these guys serious, same concept, logo, bowls, cups and even fro-yo...I had a sandwich and it was on par with those at the safeway across the street. Not five stars because the some prices are in outer space. A small, not even full mini cup of soup for $3.50? No bread? Seriously took me 12 spoons to finish it. Froyo for $4.00? Huh? I have been to this cafe several times in a two-month period. While the food is ok -- the salads are good, the sandwiches are mediocre --I will not go again because of the service. After one bad experience with a rude server, I said I wouldn't go back. I did go back, though, becasue of convenience and starvation but had another terrible experience. I will revisit just once more: to try to fix up a double charge that I just found on my statement. The first time the card got swiped they said it didn't go through..but alas, it did :-( You are not waited on in this cafe. You walk through a line for about 2-3 minutes to order your food. How the servers can have 'attitude' in that short amount of time is bewildering. There's a new 100% organic market a short distance away that I found and am going to go to when I'm in McLean-- Nourish Market. read more

This place needs to hire more people. I placed an online order for the office and then got there 20 minutes later to pick the order up. Once there, I gave them my name for the order, 3 times. After every time they'd continue back in the production. After 30 minutes I finally noticed a big bag in the back that NO ONE went to look at after I gave my name. It was ridiculous. read more

I am a regular at Sweetleaf and am perplexed by some of the comments concerning the prices here. If you compare this place to any of its neighbors, you will find their prices to be completely competitive and their breakfast undercuts even McDonald's. The salads come in bowls that are as big as a football helmet--yes, for $7 in high rent McLean. My favorites being the berry leaf which I add feta and sometimes shrimp to, not that it isn't a gorgeous salad all by itself. I also favor the chinese chicken one--not sure that's exactly what it's called on the menu, but it tastes as good as it looks and smells. . I frequently stop at Sweetleaf on my way to work. There are a variety of breakfast sandwiches that come with a free cup of coffee for the whopping price of $4.73 with the tax. My personal favorite is the malibu melt on multigrain toast. It comes with avocado, bacon, cheese (provolone, I think) and a fresh egg that tastes fried, but they actually steamed. They also have granola which you can even get with soy milk which a dairy and egg allergic friend was delighted to find. I recently noticed there was a new banner outside promising the advent of organic oatmeal. I gave the thumbs up to the owner Sherry who is frequently right out front greeting her customers on that and she told me it would be slow-cooked steel cut oats and that all those lovely fresh fruit toppings you can get on the froyo would be available to top it off along with some brown sugar. This is also the same price as the sandwiches and comes with the free coffee, too. There is never a line at breakfast which amazes me because I think this is the best breakfast deal in town. Yes, much of the staff are not native speakers, but I dare say if you are kind and have a moment of patience you will get what you ordered. These folks are nice people and when you go there as much as I do they do get to know you as a regular. Even the shy young man who buses the tables and refills pitchers etc smiles the warmest smile and makes you feel right at home. Oh, one word about parking, they have solved the problem very nicely. The church behind them allows the customers to park there and they have built a nice staircase that leads to the patio and rear entrance of the restaurant. read more

I just got off a12 hour shift at the hospital and was starving. I drive by and see the open sign - score! As I'm parking and getting out of the car, the employee sees me through the window at 859 pm and turns the open sign off. I put my hands up in surprise that you would turn a customer away, but he shook his head and did the slit throat sign. My reaction is probably fueled by being hangry , but that was RUDE and u lost a customer for good. read more

It's just not all that good. Save your money, go to the salad bar at Giant or Balducci -- you'll fare much better and pay less. PLUS, you won't get attitude from the man who is always behind the counter and often at the cash register. I went back today just to see if things had improved -- same old food, truly uninterested service from the young lady behind the counter, then to get major attitude from the cash register nazi (and not even a thank you when giving me my change), needless to say I'm not going back. I will, however, lobby to have Sweet Green or Chopt'd move into McLean and hopefully close this place down. Someone once said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over hoping for a different result. Well, no more insanity and no more Sweetleaf for me. read more

Love this place! Really good, fresh salads with generous portions. For Gluten Free eating, the salad bowl felt like a full meal.

don't waste your time coming here... i work in the mclean area and was craving a salad so i yelped it! story cut short, sweet leaf had good reviews do i stopped over. salad was just ok, nothing spectacular and i was ready to live with that, but i also ordered a butter pecan shake which arrived when i was half way through with my salad..and to top it off it tasted very weird! so i took it back to management and asked if i could get something rlse since the shake tasted weird..and they said no! this is america people! i just left the funky tasting shake at their counter (cost about 4/5bucks too so you can imagine..what a waste)! and i left their shop. went over to the 7/11 right beside sweet leaf and picked up some more tasty food. i was so disappointed! suffice to say i'm never returning. read more

I used to come here all the time but never again after today, and here is why. My complaint is mostly customer service related. As a vegetarian I understand that my options are limited and that is my decision I happily embrace everyday. Sweet Leaf is close to my work and virtually the only affordable place for me to get a healthy meal so it was common for me to go once a week. Again, my options are limited even here. I usually order the same old sandwich every time so I decided to mix it up and order a salad and modify it since pretty much every salad comes with meat and/or dairy. I ordered a Cobb Salad and asked them to leave off the bacon and cheese and substitute with falafel instead. They told me it was $2 extra. Even when I specified I wasn't getting bacon and cheese they told me it was still extra. I was really disappointed by there response. If you choose to make your own salad adding bacon and cheese is already extra so it's not like I was asking for something to be free. I was merely asking for it to be substituted as an even trade. Even the gentleman in front of me who ordered 2 Cobb salads balked at the notion and semi jokingly asked if he could have my bacon and cheese. I wish we had done that because I had to pay for something I wasn't getting anyways. And THAT is bad customer service. But instead of working with a frequent customer to keep my service coming back, I walked out with salad that was just shy of $11. That's insane. Also, as a side note, that is probably the worst falafel I've ever had. It was dry and flavorless which made the extra charge sting even more. I ate half and threw the rest away. I hope you enjoyed the extra $2 you got out of me because it's the last money I will spend there. read more

Ended up here today for lunch, and was pretty impressed (to my own surprise). I had avoided going, even though it is within walking distance of where I live, as part of my silent protest against Moorenko's closing. That said, went at the height of rush hour, and very promptly had a really nice salad with fresh ingredients (they are literally cutting the avocado in front of you). I liked that I could modify one of the salads that they offer on the board (I got the Santa Fe salad *$7* and added chicken *+$2*), but then modify it slightly to something more to my liking. They even offered a nice slice of fresh bread with the salad; not for this girl, but hey, it was a good size and only slightly zip code priced. It really is quite the quaint space. I like what they have done with it. I'll definitely try it for breakfast too, and probably take out on the days I'm too lazy to cook. Parking is a bear, with a sum total of something like 8 spots in front, but, I'll share the secret; if you go behind the restaurant there is a church parking lot that you can use and walk through the fence on the back side of the building. As the reviews show this place can be good or bad depending on your luck. I have stopped going there because their prices are very high and it costs extra for everything you want to put on it... meat and cheese will set you back at least $5 combined. I always leave and they forget my dressing or bread or utensils, etc. So consistency is not their best trait. read more

Great addition to Mclean! Outstanding sandwiches, with up to 4 toppings from the salad bar, a great selection of salads- ingredients are fantastic. Both sandwiches and salads are just $6. Want dessert? Frozen yogurt $3.50 or selection of ice cream $3- each come with up to 3 toppings, including fresh berries! Other hot and cold drinks and baked goods make it a great place to meet for a coffee or lunch or a treat. A sure winner! read more

I love this new place. It has a great atmosphere both inside and out. I had the cobb salad and it was delicious. There is a huge choice of unusual homemade dressings both regular and non fat. The staff are very helpful and efficient. The owner is usually up front too. Very well priced - you can get a good size salad for $7.00. This will become the place that I meet up with my friends for lunch. If you cannot park up front, there is extra parking allowed in the nearby church. read more

Food is really good, but the staff members aren't helpful or nice. The ambience is comfortable but would be better if the music wasn't so loud. The place has a vaulted ceiling and echoes, so it is really noisy. Can't carry on a conversation for sure. They don't have fountain drinks but they did provide cups with ice. We came to this place thinking it was just icecream, so we were quite surprised to discover that there was a whole cute cafe. The icecream itself wasn't especially wonderful, but the server gratiously added as much chocolate syrup as I wanted ("just tell me when") and an extra scoop of chocolate chips, and that made me happy. They have a nice little patio out back if you want to sit outside. I'll have to come back and try to food next time. read more

so i love sweet green in georgetown way more than sweet leaf in mclean, but it's still pretty good. i'd probably give this place 3.5 stars, but b/c i really enjoy going their for breakfast, i'll bump it up to 4. the parking is a NIGHTMARE. it's on the end of this weird 3 way intersection thing going on where you can only park into the place if there's even a spot at all and then you have to back up to get out. which would be fine, unless there are 4 or 5 cars trying to get in and out at the same time - super annoying. but! their ice cream is really good and there aren't really that many healthy alternative lunch places around here anyway. i love the tables they have on the inside, but the service sometimes is off. i feel like they get kind of overwhelmed sometimes when there are too many people, though. try to get there earlier or a little bit later to miss that rush. read more

Love this place! I've had their Asian chicken salad which is really yummy and 2 of their sandwiches- the san remo and the malibu melt- which were both amazing. The place is clean, fresh and have lot of healthy options. We went there for breakfast this morning and it's amazing to me that they were less crowded than the McLean Diner down the street. I hope this place expands into DC, particularly near my work so i can eat there more often! read more

Based on one lunch, this will be my go-to place for salads in the future. My friend and I both had the San Remo salads and enjoyed them. Parking lot was full on a Saturday at 1:15, but I'll have to figure out how to park in the back. My only negative is that the staff could have been friendlier. The Malibu Melt is my favorite breakfast sandwich, though I would prefer them to have bacon substitutes. Order a smoothie or shake (not the biggest fan of their current selection of fruits for smoothies) Grapes? Really? Not the greatest seating, better to eat outside or take out.
