Went here for a late Saturday lunch with a girl friend and was pleasantly surprised to see the unusual salad combinations. I chose to go with the Guacamole Greens and truly enjoyed it. They also have a make your own salad bowl that includes greens + 4 add ins for about $7. It was interesting to see quinoa as one of the options in the featured salads. They also offer you a free sample of a salad that is being featured. The menu is seasonal which adds to the variety of the menu. The portions are regular sized & the calorie count makes it easy to select the salad & dressing of your choice. They also offer some drinks... cucumber ginger, green tea to name a few. The seating space is limited, and I could see this getting very busy during weekday lunch times. The music was rather loud which makes it difficult to have a conversation over lunch. But hey, it's a great salad place, good service, and I'll definitely look forward to returning for more! read more

I've ordered from this location multiple times over the few months I've lived in this area and I'm always pleased with how quick they get the order out and how fresh the food tastes. I've picked up lunch here a few times and I personally think the best kinds of salads form here are the ones you create yourself. All of the salads they have on their menu sound very unappetizing to me. I've never had a problem with ordering online which is nice, I just place my order then pick it up. My hope is that they're using sustainable to-go bowls, cups, etc. The last time I was here I remember receiving a lot of plastic that I didn't need. My sister in law and I ate at Sweetgreen for lunch today. I had a buy one get one salad coupon from a Yoga class that I had attended that was sponsored by Sweetgreen in December. Anyway, I ordered their salad of the month called the January salad. It was mesclun, butternut squash, roasted kale (yummy!!), sunflower seeds, cauliflower, roasted turkey with cranberry vingerette dressing. I had the dressing on the side since I hate tons of dressing. I am glad I did this because I didn't care that much for the dressing. My sister in law created her own salad with a few veggies and grilled shrimp. She did get a dressing mixed in and they asked her if she wanted it light, medium or a lot mixed in. I thought it was nice they asked before dumping whatever amount on her salad. Both the order came with a free slice of Sweetgreen's homemade delicious bread. The salads were very fresh tasting and really hit the spot. I will say this location has very limited seating. We ended up having to change our order to go because of the lack of seating. This worked out okay since I live super close to this location. I was informed by one of the worker that community style seating is used. However, I didn't want others to be right into my conversation. The prices were a little high for getting a salad but again this is the RTC. I also want to point out that others had commented on the smaller size protein portions. The turkey I got was about a 3oz piece which is the recommended size for meat. I think people are so use to the American size portions, that no one hardly remembers what a normal size portion is anymore. I do agree for the amount of meat you get the prices is high. read more

I dropped by on a weekday evening on the way from Dulles to places beyond. Parking in a free covered lot was right nearby. Mercifully, this house of salads wasn't busy at all. I could enjoy my Kale Caesar with sliced egg, cucumber, corn, salt and pepper, and light dressing without waiting in line! The salad I ordered was the Harvest Bowl. Though the kale was okay, the chicken was dried out, the wild rice was hard where biting on a grain was like biting on a sliver of stone. The thin slices of sweet potato also lacked the hardy taste one usually gets with this vegetable. Overall not a very good salad unless you want a large bowl of chopped kale to eat. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service. I placed an online order directly through their website to be delivered the next day and their system set it up to be delivered same day. I called the local phone number several times, with no answer, sent several emails as soon as the order was placed and I noticed the email said it would be delivered immediately. I could not get in touch with anyone to cancel the order and when someone finally did contact me after they delivered the order they said there is nothing that they can do. The last four times that I've ordered my salad from there, it seems like the portion size gets smaller. I'm not a big eater and I used to be able to eat their salad for two meals. I'm going to make this review very short and "sweet." (not so sweet, actually) After striking up a conversation with a woman at Wegmans the other day, I mentioned to her that I recently became a vegetarian. She suggested I try Sweet Green and raved about the food there, so I figured I'd try it out for myself. This visit was not even an hour ago, mind you. The prices aren't too bad, in my opinion. I ordered the Mexican Elote salad and it ended up being under $10. Not too bad. Unbeknownst to me, you also get bread with this salad. This is my first time ever going to Sweet Green, mind you. The girl who took my order could barely put any volume into her monotone voice, so I had to ask her to repeat herself twice. Once, when she asked if I wanted a lot or a little salad dressing ( I think that's what she said), and again when she told me my order total. If I wasn't so hungry, I would've proudly walked out and went to a nearby eatery just because the attitudes of the workers here was so poor. Once I remembered that I was supposed to get bread with my meal, I purposefully asked another girl there if I got bread with the meal, hoping I'd find a friendly person who actually gives somewhat of a damn about her job. Nope. She had just as much of a stank attitude as the other one. She didn't even answer me, she simply walked over to get some tongs and handed me the bread. The entire time I was there, they seemed very joyous and happy when in conversation amongst each other behind the counter, so I'm unclear as to what the issue was. God help them if I was supposed to get a drink, or anything else with that or I will be making a phone call tomorrow. Nevertheless, I ate a couple bites of the salad (which was very fresh and tasted great) asked for a container to go, and left. Needless to say, I will never come to this location again. The attitudes alone turned me off to this place for good. I'd advise whoever manages this place to reevaluate who you're hiring to service customers. And to the employees: I can imagine it must be hellishly depressing to work behind a food counter for barely above minimum wage pay at the age of 24, but don't take it out on us, please. Perhaps finding another job that doesn't require face-to-face interaction would be a better fit for you. Well, maybe not. I don't know. All I'm saying is, if you hate your job so much that you don't care about your performance or how you come across to people, I'd advise hitting up Indeed or the classifieds. Good luck! read more

Ever wish a restaurant had more healthy foods and drinks? Well here's a place. Has healthy soda pop too no high fructose corn syrup here! Stunningly decorated with recycled bowling alley parts and I'm guessing hickory paneling and ceiling that gives it a almost oriental look. A fantastic speaker system. Most of the dishes were under $10. Any sort of salad you could imagine. When I was there the wait staff had not much to do but step in tune to the fantastic sound system (hope you like contemporary rock loud) this may change. My daughter loves it and we have been there twice. I had the chic p (sheek) $8 with baked falafel as opposed to deep fried falafell that many places would serve. The wait staff looks bright colledge student types. My daughter wants to work there. I contemplate many returns. read more

The staff was slow and confused behind the counter; the line was awkward and no one knew where to start ordering. The woman making salads started coughing a wet hacking cough after serving us, which is when I stopped eating. Also my girlfriend found a hair in her salad. Are you serious? FAIL. I wish Yelp had a way to rank something 0 stars. I've disliked the Sweetgreen franchise since it's inception in Georgetown. As this store has only been open for a little over 24 hours, I was quite pleased with my first visit. Great choice of ingredients, with a majority of them being locally grown. I'll leave the tree-hugging to my westward-faring brother and sister-in-law, but you can't feel guilty about eating in a place that generates revenue for the local economy AND provides compostable flatware. Prices were comparable to SaladWorks ($8 for a salad with a protein), and a little less than what I remember spending at Chop't. Employees were friendly and helpful in that "we just opened yesterday" sense of the word. Best of all: They offer a customer loyalty card (i.e., free salad when you spend X dollars). That bumps SaladWorks off the top of the short list for salad restaurants in Reston/Herndon. read more

I was so in love with Sweetgreen that I even bought the Sweetgreen bowl, but I had to give it up after several bad experiences at this location. The good: delish salads and generally good customer service. The bad: You're definitely getting less salad in the to-go bowls but you're paying the same price. This annoys me given the price of the salads. But the thing that finally sent me over the edge and killed my loyalty was the inedible wild rice. I've been going to this location for about 3 years. It had a wonderful staff that knew me by name and always got my orders correct. Recently, it looks like they changed up their entire team because I don't recognize anyone. I made two online orders within the past 2 weeks and they both have been incorrect. I've visited Sweetgreen at several of their other locations, including locations in both DC and Arlington (Ballston specifically) and enjoyed those experiences. But my meal at the Sweetgreen in the Reston Town Center was subpar. I ordered the kale caesar and my salad was... WARM. What the heck? It tasted as though they had either left the lettuce and other ingredients out or their refrigerator was broken, neither of which is OK. I was one of their first few customers that day, as I opted to get lunch around 11:30am. The cheese on my kale caesar tasted bad... I'm not even sure why I finished the salad. Maybe because it was so pricey (for salad). Toward the end of my meal, I felt sick to my stomach. I needed something sweet to help with the indigestion immediately. Also, their water was over $2. I can't say enough about Sweetgreen! I love this place. When I was pregnant, I only craved one thing, and that was guacamole greens from Sweetgreen!! I also add a little sweet corn to the mix. Delicious!! My husband must have gotten sick of running over here all the time, but I never had a bad experience there! When it was warm, we brought our dog and baby and sat outside. Lovely! We also always order a small dark chocolate yogurt to share - topped with candied pecans and chocolate chips of course. OMG! That dark chocolate is so good and chocolaty!! This sure isn't your building deli. Picture a Chipolte for Salads - incredible. This place is Vegan/Vegetarian/Carnivore Friendly.. You can get anything your little heart desires. My salad usually includes romaine, spinach, apples, grapes, avocado, edamame, white beans, goat cheese, roasted chicken, wasabi peas & a generous squirt of miso sesame vinaigrette. Somewhere around 900 calories and 43 grams of protein. The portion is huge - it's bigger than just a lunch - you will absolutely want to take half home for dinner :) read more

Sweet Green is pretty much the only place I do lunch. They have a standard salad menu of favorites and have a rotating seasonal selection. All their ingredients are fresh and locally sourced. I usually get the Earth Bowl, but lately I've been liking the seasonal Spring Chicken. Both are around $10 and come with a slice of whole wheat bread. There are two drawbacks to Sweet Green, but neither warrant negative stars: 1) during lunch there is always a massive line, so go early or late or be ready to wait. With that said, the staff is incredibly friendly and quick so the back up is due solely to their popularity. 2) Their salads are a bit pricer than other places in the area. Be prepared to spend at least $10. There are a few good options for $8-9, but usually lack meat or premium ingredients. However, the fresh and delicious salads are well worth the price and I've never felt ripped off for paying more. It just means I go once or twice a week rather than everyday! read more

I am a big fan of sweet green and I believe that they make the best salads in town but I do not like this location at all. The staff were friendly, in an uninterested teenager sort of way, but my salad just did NOT taste the same. I got my usual Kale Caesar but it tasted entirely too salty and the kale was extremely bitter. Also the froyo display was lacking. They advertised their baked apples but there were two apple tidbits on display. I'm going to stick with the Bethesda location in the future. read more

Worst experience ever walked in asked to order a salad and the girl at the counter continued to refill all of the containers as though I had said nothing! She went through 4 of them before I walked out. I literally waited and watched as she poured quinoa onions etc into the display (at the end of the night no less ) and I wondered how many more she intended to fill before making my salad. Each one finished their service and instead of asking me what I wanted, they went into the kitchen. I waited for ten minutes before my order was noted. Sweetgreen is a very good albeit overpriced salad and froyo spot in the already restaurant packed Reston Town Center. The salads are very good. The vegetables are all very fresh, crisp and flavourful and each salad comes with your choice of a salad base (romaine, mesclun mix etc), three veggies, one "crunch" and a dressing. I got the mesclun mix, corn, grapes, red onion and cucumber (they didn't charge for the extra veggie). I also got dried cranberries and roasted turkey all tossed with honey-dijon dressing. Sans turkey, a salad costs $6 but with turkey it cost $9 which was was a ripoff considering it was a tiny piece of meat. Other proteins like chicken and shrimp range from an extra $1-3. All salads come with served with a slice of fantastic chewy bread though I couldn't pinpoint what kind it was. There are many reasons to come to Sweetgreen, the food is very good, the staff is friendly and an unexpected surprise is the use of completely compostable utensils. There is limited seating however and the line can be rather long during the lunch rush. Sweetgreen also offers frozen yogurt which I haven't tried but through the word of my friends, it's very good as well. The main downside though is the price, $9 for a salad is a few dollars too much even if it's customized. read more

Generally, I don't get wow'd by a salad too often, but Sweetgreen makes a pretty "sweet" salad. I went with a make your own creation -- spinach and romaine lettuce, corn, roasted beets and onions, beets (can never have too many beets), red onion, avocado, bacon, and two kinds of dressing -- spicy cashew and a lemon tahini. The salad was packaged well to-go with dressing on the side. I thought it was cool they let you pick two dressings -- since their dressings are not your typical ranch, blue cheese, etc. The spicy cashew was really good. My only gripe was the bacon was awfully "bacon-bits" tasting. If the bacon actually tasted like real bacon, the place would be 5 stars fo-sho. Also, be warned that it's a little pricey in my opinion, in that the salad is going to run you around 10 or more bucks. If this place was a couple bucks cheaper, I'd see myself here quite a bit... In my head, I think of this place as like a Chipotle for salad, and therefore should be Chipotle priced. If they upped their game to real tasting bacon, I'd cough up some extra bacon; but as it stands now, it's good, but I personally won't be going often. read more
